You'll be fine EA and it will be lovely to see your grand daughter. I feel as if anything that hasn't fallen over now is probably not going to, and Riccarton is pretty good. Our very old two storey weatherboard building at work does loop the loops in earthquakes but seems to settle back down more or less unscathed every time. Do you need help with your liquefaction Charlieb2? - have large strong son whose exams, with one exception, have been cancelled and another home next week. He's been shovelling already and will again so it won't be a problem.

Quick hi from me ...
EA & fellow Chch peoples - if we have a get-together it needs to either be on Saturday as I'm busy Sunday or somebody else needs to organise it. I don't mind if you want to stick to Sunday but someone needs to hold their hand up soon ... Cheers, Rae

Saturday will suit me fine, but if it does not happen,it is all good.
I will be at Riccarton mall,if anyone wants to show up for a cuppa.
Hugs to you all.

enjoy the chch get together, how exciting to be seeing your wee granddaughter for the first time.

4.4 but only 6 km depth - that would have rattled ones teeth I am sure, **(^*&%^ things!!!
such a dark day, have just been up albany mall and the weather is quite wild - its made us nervous here because of our tornado!! - thats in the back of a lot of peoples minds, especially those that were out in it like I was freaky conditions that day I can tell you.

First one I have felt while driving Charlieb2. Thought I had blown a tyre for a minute so I can see why people driving in the big ones are so rattled! Glad your under control with the liquefaction. Don't hesitate to ask if you need some muscle for anything any time. I'm on for Saturday Rae - what time and where?

I had a meltdown this morning and Georgie-Porgy left the heater where she was warming her tum, jumped on the bed and came up for a cuddle. I'd be lost without her.

Went to physio this afternoon and that really helped - I didn't realise I was so wound up.

calista - I feel ya! Went over to Mum's this morning to prep the caravan so the owner could take it home & I borrowed Sir Winston for a cuddle ... he didn't mind a bit!
Chch peoples & EA ... lets say Browsers Cafe at 3pm tomorrow (Sat).
EA - it's just over the road from the mall so easy to find & all Chch locals knows where it is!

Kumara, Pumpkin and Peanut Soup

Ingredients
1 onion
2 Tbsp butter or oil
1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp chilli powder (adjust to taste - 1/2 tsp is mild)
1 large kumara (about 250g)
250-350g pumpkin
4 cups vegetable or chicken stock (or 4 tsp stock powder dissolved in 4 cups of water)
2 Tbsp peanut butter
1/2 tsp salt (if peanut butter not salted)

Finely chop the onion. Heat the butter or oil in a large saucepan. Add onion and garlic and cook over low heat until soft. Add the spices and stir over moderate heat for a minute or so longer.

Chop the kumara and pumpkin and add to the saucepan with the stock. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes or until the vegetables are tender. Add the peanut butter, and salt if required. Puree or mash (I used a stick blender) and serve immediately. Serves 4-6

sounded like a lovely get together, our awards night was very successful as usual, there were a few chch people there and they all were quite glad to be having a few days öff"and the general comment was they didnt realize how stressed they actually were until they come away - one couple said when they got in they ended up having an afternoon sleep that lasted for hours!! - I thought the acknowledgments for chch was just lovely. must admit to feeling very heavy headed this morning ;) after finishing off the rental yesterday I have no desire to get stuck into housework at mine!! - a nice quiet day I think is what is ordered.

Thanks for a lovely day Julia, Ann, Greg & Michelle and Mel. So great to catch up with Mel & Julia again( it's been 3 1/2 years!!!) and lovely to meet Michelle, Greg and Ann for the first time. Great venue, lovely company and a few laughs. We fly back to Welly tomorrow afternoon (2pm) Had a lovely meal at Mum & Dads...roast beef, yourkshire pudding, fresh leeks and parsnips and roast potatoes and gravy ( sure I have put on 2 kilo's in weight already!!) and the tarte tatin which Mum made in the tarte tatin dish I sent up to her last week. It was beautiful. I must admit, I am looking forward to my own bed.

It was lovely to meet Mel, & You & Brian. I hope you have or had a good flight home . There is nothing like ones own bed. Lenny thanks for your text & apologies. I am looking forward to another 'catch up in July when Mrs Grae comes to Auckland.

Yesterday 25 members of my family met up for lunch, it went really well, I find it so important to have those get togethers where everyone can reconnect with each other. The ages of my family who attended, ranged from 2 to 90.

Waves to Winnie, Last night I watched that interview on 'Sunday' on TV 1 with the 3 families from Retreat Rd in Avonside. I felt upset to see what they were having to endure to just try & get the basic necessities of life. Great program though
Lots of rain here in the weekend with thunder & lightening on Saturday evening.
Would like to do more gardening today so here's hoping it is fine.

Motorbo, your post upset me,you need to get out more, even if it is window shopping.
When I was on my own,I use to go to live shows,I use to save up for them.
What are your hobbies?,mine are music, live shows and walking.
There is lots to do in Wellington, you can do it.
Buy some new things for your flat, that will make you feel good,or buy some new clothes,I know money is tight, but I am saving my smoking money.
You rock,don,t forget that.
Many hugs to you.

Motorbo, you poor thing, it sounds a dreadful first couple of days in your new abode. It's always stressful shifting & having expectations of a new home & then finding things don't work as one had hoped. Hope things are soon fixed. I love Wellington, not sure if I could cope with some of the hills.. Don't feel bad about your post as that was real for you & you sounded upset about it at the time. Have family in Wadestown & in the Hutt..

If I was on FB right now I'd 'like' charlieb's post as I totally agree.
Motorbo - things are challenging here - yes - but that doesn't mean we have exclusive rights on bad days or feeling down.
It can't be great to find a place, move in & then have it seem like anything that can go wrong does!
My tip - do something nice for yourself. Cook a fav meal, buy a yummy smelling candle or a little pot plant. Anything which will add a little brightness to your day :)

Horrible day (kept losing and forgetting stuff) but this makes life *so* much better. Thanks to all the workers who did their bit.

My spirit-lifting piece of loveliness today was a Stephens Island Kowhai with some flowers on it.

waves hello to everyone, motorbo hope you have got all the bits sorted out, do you think it was landlord being a bit casual? - hopefully he/shes onto the job and makes your living quarters right. its always stressful moving and all the unpacking and just finding your zone. we all can feel really down on occasion, I must admit have been a bit blue for a few days - not sure what its all about but know I feel quite "sad" about some things which dont usually bother me, maybe my sensitive spot is being trodden on by someone??

seriously HUGS and thanks, i had to laugh to myself ...u know those times when things happen and you think if this was a soap like shortland street they would believe it!! i think the landlords did not check things before i moved in..yet the did all the phone and reference checks on me!!!

yah winne ...we cannot go without water ..and we do take it for granted

Ali i so know what you mean i couldnt really explain why i felt so down...maybe it was just the end of the long trip ive been through for the last gosh nearly 6 months.....but we all get those moments and cannot always explain them..hormones maybe ....HUGS

right back at you motorbo, hugs go a long way to making us feel a bit better, and as charlie has said I have had a rotten time with not feeling well, also my 4 top besties 2 are overseas and 2 are working full time - so I have always been spoilt on my birthday and I was 4 down - which is a LOT it had not happened before - and I am one very social butterfly so can comprehend at bit.
but when you move into a house its nice for the landlord to take a bit of care!!
and calista you are allowed to have a couple of brain cells missing - its all part of the big chrischurch shakeup....
