yes I agree with hubby. I heard a couple of layout owners couldn't make it so that explained the couple of gaps there. wasn't disappointed with number of traders. not a big hall so not a lot of room for more but I was disappointed with their prices. some were pretty ott. especially the second hand stuff

and we went hubby disappointed again, really wanted to spend some money but it was just the some old stuff for sale

edit to say the Rangiora club did well, interacted with people there. was impressed with them, we might pop out and see them one saturday

i thought there was a reasonable range of stuff for sale but too dear. even on the second hand tables, prices were crazy. not often I come back from a show with nothing but I did this time. also annoyed that I took some traders cards to check their websites. one had every item 'out of stock'. not just the items I was after but every item and the other had no prices so wont be dealing with either of them. some really nice layouts there though.

some great layouts, we were interested in the buses and tractors moving around, went to ask one crowd how it worked totally ignored us, went to the next one and the young man was great explained how it worked.
Hubby thought the stuff for sale was expensive too. I was surprised with the layout from the ferrymead group I would have thought after all these years they would have up dated it

slimgym - 2018-10-11 01:24:00
378

I had thought about getting a faller car system to if that was what you were looking at with the buses and tractors. couldn't justify spending what they wanted for a starter set. way to expensive

treecave - 2018-10-15 21:25:00
379

so that's what its called.. Hubbys going to have a look at it
the young man said its done with magnets and the bus had a motor ?

slimgym - 2018-10-17 10:34:00
380

that sounds right. nearly $200 for a basic starter kit though and buy an extra vehicle or two and he can kiss another couple of hundred goodbye.

treecave - 2018-10-19 00:11:00
381

did he get a set slimgym

The Cromwell model train show is on 23 and 24 March 2019 held every second year. There will be a few traders and a second hand table along with some model train layouts. This is hosted by the local club.

smurf14 - 2019-01-26 08:40:00

so not a very big show

Model train show in Dunedin May 2019

Don’t forget the Cromwell model train show 23rd and 24th March 2019

smurf14 - 2019-03-16 21:20:00
392

did you go smurf and if you did how was it

treecave - 2019-03-25 22:37:00
393

The Cromwell model train show was quite good for the size. I had my new layout there. A couple of traders and a second hand table. About a dozen layouts on display. I only spent about $250 on more bits for my layout and sold about $180 of stuff I didn’t need any more. So a great weekend away.

smurf14 - 2019-03-27 12:05:00
394

The next model train show is in Dunedin during May over mother’s day weekend.

Just over a week till the Dunedin model train show

Can we start another thread on Train Shows and ditch this one?

To trawl through 395 posts is becoming tedious, even having to go to the last page is a hassle.

perfectimages - 2019-05-01 17:30:00
397

no hassle just go to last page.

husband is looking for some parts I will remind him about the Dunedin one.
although that will make the parts very expensive
