Bumping for everyone who likes a place in the sun :)

Have just noticed that today is Friday 13th, so, for anyone who is superstitious, there could be dark forces about!

One of the reasons I havent left the house today yet lol, and a black dog got in my yard and knocked my food scxraps bin over, I know its meant to be a black cat but when i told it to go home it barked and growled at me lol.

wheather cold and yuck but not raining in chch

Well one apartment viewing down ... one to go!
The place was nice ... but it's not on the rental market yet as the lady who owns the block likes to repaint, change curtains, carpet, etc between tenants so I'll see what happens. Small issue of price also ... could be $20 a week dearer than I was expecting. Nothing determined yet until the agent speaks with the owner.
Next one at 5pm is cheaper, closer to the center of town & has no letting fee. Watch this space ... lol :)

Thanks Pam,
the middle one is my kind of budget. I'll look at the one tonight and go from there.

Time for a bump I think.
I just love Friday nights! Now if only I could re-learn how to sleep in.

I've spent most of the day with our black cat (glued to my lap mostly)and nothing terribly bad has happened to me yet! Definintely a good night for witches, although they'd get blown off course on their broomsticks in this weather ;)

Thanks toadfish - well the latest is ....

the place I've just got back from viewing is the one I want!
I can see myself living there ... so now I just have to wait till Sunday night when the property manager will ring me with the good news!!! Lots of other people viewing while I was there, and viewings Sat & Sun - but that doesn't matter ... it's the one for me!!!
It's owned by Christ's College & the chap who makes the decision, remembers my brother who used to teach there 20 odd years ago. A good thing!

Gosh - I'm sitting here trying to watch 'Dancing on Ice' ... but I'm yawning my head off!!!
Who would have thought finding a new home would be so tiring?
Toadfish & whoever else is watching - enjoy :) and let me know who won!
I'm off to bed to dream about my new apartment - decorated, furnished ... & with me unpacked & and moved in!!!

Hi Rae.. it sure is tiring.. we did the same when Jenni moved to Wellington last year, and then to Hamilton this year.. many flats and apartments to visit before we found the right one in each city..

Good luck for this one.. and enjoy moving in and creating 'Rae's Place'..

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.. :-)

Best of luck Winnie - you're obviously born to be a Cantabrian. working the connections already! I've heard they're good landlords too.

Hi everyone,
I've been out to the Farmer's Market at Dean's Bush, Riccarton this morning ... drool, drool, drool!!! I could spend a fortune there!
There's an amazing range of food & produce and the prices weren't exorbitant ... well not for quality goods anyway.
With all the sampling I didn't need lunch lol :)

As for my apartment, I've been dreaming rugs & furniture & accessories. I'm going to treat myself to some new towels once I move in ... I have to wait till then so I can colour co-ordinate my bathroom (never done that before!!!).

I'm meeting Mr Delish at 5.30 for a drink then ???
I like surprises & am looking forward to whatever he has planned.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
My night out was short & sweet. Mr Delish had to go pick up his youngest son but we had a lovely dinner together, and I'm invited to watch his son play his rugby league final tomorrow afternoon.
I was surprised & very touched to be asked :)

The big thing used to be going home to meet the parents, now it is to meet the children! How nice and good to be doing something "everyday" together. Fine in Wgtn but the ground seems to have been sodden for weeks.

Good morning all - grey & drizzling here ... perfect weather for standing on the sideline watching a rugby league final!
It's the premier division ... whatever that means ... Mr D's oldest playing. I know very little about the game - it'll just be nice to meet his boys!

Hi all,
I just got home from the game & no-one to talk to except you lovelies ... well, I talked to the canary but he just peeped at me!
I'm in such a good mood - if I was a tigger I'd be bouncing!!
I had a really good time & the right team won :)
Mr Delish's son scored 2 trys! His team is 2010 Cantab champs for their division.
Junior son had rugby trials this morn so he arrived half way through the game. Not alot to say, but hey, he's 13 ... that's normal :)
Mr D had his father there too so I got the the works in one hit! I think I passed :) Mr senior is a very amicable old gentleman & we had a nice chat about the strange rules of rugby league as he didn't understand it any better than me!
Now I just need to get THE call to say the apartment is mine & the day will be perfect :)

This time last week, we were strolling South Melbourne Market!
We had a brilliant breakfast which was grilled Turkish bread spread with warm ricotta and cinnamon and topped with sour cherry preserve- out of this world!

oh! i dont know if you live in auckland or ever go there BUT the french markets in Parnell on the weekends are awesome (La Cigale) and I have had a breakfast there that was just like this only the bread was brioche....it was amazing.

What a lovely afternoon. Went and met some of the ladies from our other site and walked around the botanic gardens together followed by coffee and coconut pie! Bliss! Then a several of us back to my place for a vino or two :)

We had an Amercian car club run today, met at the BP Truckstop at Drury and then out to Kariotahi Beach - what an amazing and desolate beach... then back to the Karaka Cafe for lunch and home... A lovely day and about 14 American Cars in total turned up so lots of good company as well. (We would have driven past you this afternoon Kiri, Dazz & Co... I love the Botanic Gardens... was a favourite haunt when the girls were smaller as we are only about 20 mins away via the back roads)

Toady, this brings back so many lovely memories. Born & bred on a dairy farm in karaka when it was a farming district & very different from what it is today. Kariotahi beach had no surf club then. We used to have lovely picnics, with a thermette boiling water & baked potatoes wrapped in tin foil cooking in a fire. I love to watch people using kontikis to fish & the land yatch racing on the beach

I have really enjoyed reading this lovely friendly thread, & especially your new 'journey' of your life Rae.

Today we went to Clevedon, farmers market, ended up buying heaps of produce so we are having a real healthy dinner, including portabello mushrooms.

Sounds like you had a nice day :)
I wanted to buy some mushrooms at the supermarket today - but at $17.99 per kilo for very sad looking mushys - I went without!

That sounds like a good deal Pam.
I need to investigate the markets, etc around Chch to find better deals on things.
Next weekend I'm going out for a drive with Mr Delish ... not sure where yet. If we go in the Banks Peninsula direction, I want to make the Lyttleton market one of our stops. We also talked about heading to Oxford and trying out Jo Seager's cafe. Life is good when choices are as tough as these! :)

Good morning all,
well I didn't get the phone call so the apartment obviously wasn't the one for me.
Never mind - onwards & upwards ...
I'm back on the apartment trail today & something good will happen :)
I got an email from studylink this morning confirming that my student loan is sorted, so that's a positive start to the week.
Life is great & everything will fall into place for me!
