Hi, sorry I'm not posting much but I am lurking. We have gotten ourselves into a very peculiar situation with the househunting. Basically both set of parents have offered to co-own with us so we can get a really nice house that we probably don't deserve! So we're getting into looking at a higher price bracket this week. Job hunting is a waiting game now. I teach secondary school so there are only 5 - 7 employers for me to hound.

Hi bll Thats what I did with my daughter. I co own the property with her and her partner. They have the 4 bedroom house and I have the cottage which of course still needs the lounge and kitchen done. But there is no way they could afford to buy a $700,000 property alone. I have done this with a couple of my kids to help them out. That way I can move around and visit a lot if I want. HA HA. Works out in the end. We are supposed to be short of GOOD teachers girl so you should have no trouble getting employment.

Added to that bll I found it hard coping with a big property on my own so this suits us fine. They have their privacy and I have mine now that I am in the cottage.

Have had a dreadful day my daughter's cat was hit by a car and died. She and her partner are so distraught and I hate being able to do anything for them.

And I could use parents like that! Never been in the situation to buy, unfortunately and it's probably too late now.

Oh the poor things It is awful losing a pet. We lost one years ago was only run over because the neighbours kids took her down our long driveway to the road and she panicked and ran on the road. Was run over by a truck. My son would not talk to our neighbour for months. Only kids did not know any better. My kids have also rescued wild cats and domesticated them over the years. Thank heavens all the animals have settled down now that the fireworks have stopped.

oh, griz, that's awful. It's really gut-wrenching when something like that happens.

re #352 I never said I was a GOOD teacher! LMAO

Not a great day turned into not a great evening either! While watching the tele we heard noises outside and found 2 young people trying to scramble over our fence OUT of our property.A young woman and a guy. Refused to talk to us and started to amble along the street. Hubby rang the Police who arrived quite quickly despite there not being a 111 service in the South Island yesterday. They found them and said they would be back to talk to us but never showed. Waited up till 11pm before giving up & going to bed. Knackered this morning! Here's for a normal day today!!!

Typical service The fact that you were concerned about the couple wandering your property probably never entered their heads. Honestly it sucks. A neighbour had her house broken into and two days later the police arrived to take fingerprints. Being an older lady she had her daughter and friends clean the house from top to bottom and had washed everything, thrown out her toothbrush etc, etc. She was so distraught about it all. She told them to go to hell. Poor dear then months later she gets this letter from Restorative Justice inviting her to a meeting with the young hoods. She told them to go to hell as well. At lest she was laughing when she told us of the outcome.

Hi everyone Spent the weekend gardening, had a ball. Neighbour brought over some plants for me as well. Bonus. We have the annual rubbish collection and as fast as people put things at their gate someone else picks it up. I'm all for recycling. It is a hoot though we have even taken guesses on how long certain things will last at the gate. 5 seconds is the record. ha ha

Hi. We had an interesting day too We found a house and put an offer in. Signing on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Great news, bll! I was hoping to win lotto on Sat night to be able to do the same but no, didn't happen again!Been a busy weekend, my birthday today so lots of family & friends popping in. All peopled out now but had a good time.Got a new cross-stitch programme for my computer, can't wait to try it out!

grizzly4 - 2007-11-12 08:06:00
371

ergh, buyer's remorse but we haven't signed anything yet. Crafty *** agent suckered me on the price. WE tried to hide it but she obviously saw we loved the house. Now looking at the market figures again, I'm not so sure that we should pay as much as we said. G, I feel like such an idiot!

bll - 2007-11-12 09:09:00
372

bll Make sure you get a registered valuation done, a builders inspection and a lim report. Make the sale conditional on all those things and then if it doesn't measure up you can withdraw or renegotiate. You can do the lim report yourself to save money just go to the council and check the property out for Compliance certificates as well as permits. Builders Inspection should be done by someone who is experienced in Leaky homes. Registered Valuations are done by comparing that property to others that have sold. All real estate agengies have all the current lists of properties that have sold and their prices.

makerealbany - 2007-11-12 09:39:00
373

Added to that You can make the Vendor's agent work for their sale by asking them to provide you with that info themselves. If the agent won't give you the info I would run. Any reputable Real Estate Consultant should provide you with that info. Best of Luck girl but as a former Real Estate Consultant my reaction is always go with your gut feeling.

374

hI grizzly You are always so busy it is like looking into a mirror ha ha. Have a really cool day girl.

makerealbany - 2007-11-12 09:46:00
375

you're right, MA its hard to stay rational with everything that's involved. I guess that if a valuation came back at the right level and the builder's report was all good, then I'd be happy with the price anyway. We've been looking at houses in all sorts of price brackets ALL YEAR, and this is the first one that has got us excited.

bll - 2007-11-12 10:31:00

Logical thinking bll You will suss it out. Best of luck.

A belated Happy Birthday to you grizzly. Shame about your cross stitch. Maybe today. I won tile adheseve and grout so I will be out of the garden and into mosaicing. Although at nights I have to get stuck into some beanies for teabag's charity. I can't get the silly printer to print the patterns teabag has on the net so will do it at my daughters today. Have a lovely day.

Rotten Day outside So I can get more of my mosaic chrissy pressies underway. Knitted two of those premature baby beanies for teabags charity last night. They are so tiny. Made me think of J my third grandson who died 17 years ago. His little head was that tiny. Bugger I feel really sad now. He died a month after I was widowed for the second time. A very sad time for my family. We still have a lot to be grateful for. As a family we are very close and watch over each other. Some times too much so ha ha. Wow the sun is trying to get out so maybe it will end up warmer. I have winter woolies on!!! After being in shorts yesterday!!! Have a happy day girls.

I love hearing stories about peoples life experiences and how they got to where they are now. Probably why I love my job so much.

Guess who's got a sore back now? Won some bags of tile adhesive and grout. Picked it up at Silverdale after the gym. Got it home and because there was only my preggie daughter and myself here, I lifted the b--------- stuff and boy does my back hurt today. That will teach me too darn smart. Mrs oh I feel so strong!!!!! My son came to visit an hour later ugh. If I had known would have waited. Oh well it is take it easy for a few days. Have knitted 5 beanies for teabag so I would say she will easily reach her quota.

heyy'all, got a job today, I start next year, 12 hours a week. We are waiting for the valuation to come back on a house we put an offer on, then it goes unconditional (assuming finance comes thru). Everything is starting to fall into place. *knocks on wood*

bll - 2007-11-16 13:49:00
391

Congratulations, bll How exciting. Sorry to hear about your back, makerealbany, that's the way it would have worked out for me,too. Spent Thursday at the A&P Show and then a 3 hour stint on a stall at one of the Malls. Took another 2 hours to pack into car and unpack back into shop. Then 4 hours book work yesterday 'cos of all the sales we made. The co-op members should be pleased! Hopefully I can find time for my own craft today. The grandsons are staying over tonight so that will be early start tomorrow.

We took a sample of just about everything from the Purple Patch. Which was fine when someone had a van the first morning but packing up what was left in our car wasn't much fun!

makerealbany - 2007-11-19 12:47:00
396

Hi grizzly You are flat out at the moment aren't you? I love markets and stalls great fun. Except for the packing up. It is cool when you sell everything. I felt so lousy just dozed over the weekend, watched tv and kept falling asleep. Those strong painkillers will do that to you. Can't sleep today though so I am moving around.

makerealbany - 2007-11-19 12:51:00
397

Hi Ya smartgirl Need a back transplant .ha ha. The only trouble with sleeping missed all the auctions I was bidding on. Well hopefully my back will come right soon. No gym for me yet.

At home with a cold today! Thought it had gone but no! back again during the night. Going to catch up with some housework then some craft stuff, I think. I have joint problems that flare up something wicked when I'm a bit under the weather, this time its an elbow, hopefully won't interfere with my plans. I feel for you makerealbany & smartgirl, I really do.

grizzly4 - 2007-11-20 09:06:00
399

Oh grizzly Joints can be so painful. I have arthritis in mine. I know what you mean. When my immune system goes down and shingles flare up then the joints ache. Much better when it is warmer weather but this changable weather sucks. Make something nice to take your mind off it. Back not as painful today. Yay.
