THE NEW COIN CLUB

#Post
351

Welcome to the Coin Club. We are an assortment of newbies, amateurs and experts with questions and answers for newbies, amateurs and experts in coin collecting, also known as numismatics. Whether you are just getting started, have been collecting for years or have simply found some old coins about the place that you’d like to sell, this is the place to ask your questions.

No one has all the answers, and you may get five differing answers to the same question, yet each may be right in a manner of speaking, especially if opinions are involved. Opinions often vary. If you receive no answer to your query within 48 hours, please ask again.

You mean a black light? Most of the herbal high shops probably sell them if you cannot find one elsewhere. .

Yes sorry black light, I was busy looking at the colour it emits, blue.
I can't think of any herbal tea shop in town. You can buy some but they not strong enough, have to look further

Has anyone found any 2012 coins in circulation yet?

We need a crying baby emoticon:

"My dilemma with this listing folks is when to withdraw it. These coins are worth considerably more than the present $10 bid. If I wait till the listing is near closing for the bids to get real which hasn't been happening with ANY of my previous 48 $1 Reserve auctions I wont be able to withdraw the auction. As a result I will pull the plug on Saturday if the bids are not realistic."

A little Camembert might go with that?

Don't like the heat? Stay out of the kitchen. Recent feedback reflects the same game-playing. We'll see if promises made in the profile are kept.

Well, given that they deleted his comment from his auction some time last night, I am presuming they have perhaps had words with him to which we would not be privy. "We have taken appropriate actions blah, blah, blah." That and the auction is still up last time I checked, so maybe he is being forced to let it run or risk being shut down by TM. One can only hope. I know I will be watching closely.

As for the profile, talk about airing dirty laundry publicly. Quite bizarre at points.

It is possible that messages were voted off, bruce. I don't believe any distinction is made between messages voted off and those deleted by TM, and TM generally refuse to commit/admit to which one it was.

Sorry, yes to get back to numismatics more generally (thanks, Don), I have not seen anything in circulation for 2012, but I have got $2 from both 2005 and 2008.

I will look forward to future trading on Trade Me on my account just whenever it suits me to do so. What will the parasite club be doing with all of those lonely hours until then?

The simple answer being - Not defaulting on our $1 reserve auctions! (You have to admit you do make it too easy)

I do have to say Johnnie, you've made me quite nostalgic though. I grew up near a sawmill and your posts remind me of the constant loud whine you used to hear there.

Hi, do NZ pennies and half pennies from the 1900s, 1910s and 1920s have any value? Not sure how to describe the condition, most would be average, some good, a couple of them poor. Also have every decade to the 1960s, which seem to be common enough. Have all been sitting in a couple of jars for 40 or more years.
Thanks in advance for any help, when I've supplied buggar all information.

NZ pennies start from 1940-1965
NZ h/pennies start from 1940-1965
some of the dates you have are from uk,hope that helps you out

Thanks chefman, must be UK ones then, I take it these were what were used in NZ prior to 1940s. Are any of them likely to be of interest and worth listing (eventually)? There is also coins from 1850s with Britannia on them, but these are very worn.

They are the coins that have only just gone out of date? 1960s etc

the old 5-10-20-50 cent coins went out in 2006..the new 10-20-50 ones start in 2006 as-well.
so all the old ones start from 1967 to 2005 in 10-20-50 cent coins
the 5 cent coins start at 1967-2004.
hope that helps you out, cheers peter

The irony here is that johnny's profession, as he mentioned in the now defunct old coin club, is as a debt collector and yet he cannot manage his own debt!

Just out of curiousity, did you ever get that 1822 KG IIII Sovereign mounted in a PCGS slab as you said you were. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of it when you do.

That's a very nice find indeed. I might have to have a closer look at my 1942 one dot coins.
