She lives in some mountains and sent me a photo of a bear in her back yard............bugger that! Now I have got to put my thinking hat on and decide what to make. She has visited NZ many moons ago so am thinking kiwiana maybe....... or bright....... or something with linen maybe?? Raining here! A perfect sewing day:o) Have a happy day all

jumbo, love the quilts especcially the black & white one. have just added the borders to my blue & green off centre log cabin. Backing & quilting when it stops raining so that I can use the garden table to lay the batting & backing together to the top.
Still working on the selvege blocks two done five more to go today.
wee, Quilters Quarters have some nice fabrics at $15.00 per metre. Time for another catchup maybe???

Glad you guys like them...course you can copy holly...I did! I saw pictures of the back and white and did it...but I am going to do another one because I want two borders around each block instead of one. The other one is the same...I liked the squares and then just chopped and played until I were happyish. All good fun.
Golly holly....you must be both happy and totally peed off with that news. Acupuncture sounds good. Other than that a bottle of gin? Ask Dilli about additives. It's just as well I dislike the taste of alcohol...I am silly enough without it!
Having a good day?

skippie the penny has just dropped! ah! You thought that I had only five blocks in total left too do. That number was my task for today. Have spent the evening sorting out the next 16 blocks. Yes the old brain is planning a different quilt to use up your selvedges. Looking forward to a new challenge.

Wee I am so pleased that I dont have to sew the Irish Dancing Costumes anymore as I needed 5 metres of both the top and the lining and the top fabric was always very expensive 199.00 a metre for one lot and 185 for the other one I made. So 30 a metre sounds a breeze........ But I like the 1 or 2 dollar a metre best. esp for the nappies and dolls clothes.
Tis nite from me

Good morning you lot. So much cooler here today...and guess what? There is a dusting of snow on the hills...in January! Unbelievable.
Yes skippie...the water tank is full to the tippy tippy top. Sil worked out that it would only take 12ml of rain to fill it and it holds 20 gallons. Have you got your emergency water supply? We have!
More sewing for me today. Have a goody goody good one yourselves.

Hi there dna. Have you ever bought online? The fabrics from the states is so much cheaper than here...and if you have no shops near you it is a good option. You will love buying and collecting fabric! It becomes a bit addictive ...but you get good at finding places to put it. Has your sister specified what fabrics you must get? Let us know more and I'm sure everyone will put their tuppence worth in! BTW it helps to be a little insane to come in here. You are lucky I got in first...I am the only sane one!

Hi Ladies, Im a newbie to quilting. Actually havent even done any. My sister is coming over from Australia early March and is determined to teach me. She has instructed me to get some pieces of fabric for quilting. I live in Drury/Papakura, Auckland, Can any one tell me please is there any fabric shops other than Spotlight I can go to, so I can get my bits of fabric she has ordered (lol) me to get before she comes. Either Papakura, Pukekohe or somewhere. I dont think theres many Sewing shops around where you can buy fabric. Not like the old days anyway.

Hi dna and welcome :)
that's a lovely sis you have to want to teach you quilting. I have found that its always interesting cause theres always something different you can make. There is a lady in here from your area she knows the fabric shops, she will be in here ... :)
