Welcome to the Coin Club. We are an assortment of newbies and oldbies, amateurs and experts with questions and answers for oldbies and newbies, amateurs and experts in coin collecting, also known as numismatics. Whether you are just getting started, have been collecting for years or have simply found some old coins about the place that you’d like to sell, this is the place to ask your questions.

No one has all the answers, and you may get five differing answers to the same question, yet each may be right in a manner of speaking, especially if opinions are involved. Opinions often vary. If you receive no answer to your query within 48 hours, please ask again.

Probably best to check the catalogues. English pennies from 1950 and 1951 would be worth putting aside if you find any. Not really sure about Australian - I'd need to look them up too.

$100 note with YAD letters. Can anyone tell me if this is worth more than face value? Not mint as has been folded into four although should look fine if creases come out after being left between two weights. Thank you.

Hi, I have inherited about 5 kgs of old NZ coins and some from ausi. I have no idea about coins and was told to catalogue and take photos..but that would take me months. Does anyone know of someone in Whangarei who could scan through these and give me some advice information on them.
There are no coin collecters or valuers listed in Whangarei yellow pages

Love the sequence of steps. Would be good to see the opposite side too to check the spacing 180° around. Is it an artefact of the photo or does the second one have a 1 for the I of BI? Assume no. 2 is "normal" and no. 1 is "wide"?

I guess it depends what you have are they decimal coins or pre-decimal if they are between 1933 - 1946 silver coins they contain 50% silver so they have more value than the rest normally. It all comes down to condition if they are decimal or not silver and some times the easiest way to sell is in bulk lots separated by country and denomination.

The other option for the NZ coins is to purchase the John Bertrand NZ coin catalogue have a look to see what you have who knows you might get interested in the exiting hobby of coin collecting :-)

An amazing price for a Commonwealth Halfgroat. Spink 3231, listing 727317059 . Only $295.57 before shipping costs.
Some people sure have money to splash around! However if it had been a decent Scottish coin it would have been a different matter.

Hey guys can anyone tell me what roughly a 1920 Australian Penny with a dot above the lower scroll would be worth? I know it all depends on pics but a rough estimate would be great... I dont have the best lighting at the moment to take a good picture

Not the easiest of books to find my way around - the 24th ed (last one I got) was odd as they had dropped the section on tokens but left the token intro there, including a reference to the (non-existent) pricing.

Incorrect. We all ask questions. I was merely suggesting that it would be to your advantage to acquire some basic catalogues as the rest of us have done.

At the bottom of the North Island we are more used to "TUI".
