| Omg, you poor thing, and poor S, she has had a rough run health wise, i hope Southern Cross can get her sorted sooner, I can't believe the hospital just sending her home and saying come back when we can fit you in, not good to get sick and need hospital care is it, they just send you home. Hope everything is ok. Hope your afternoon tea went off ok suzy59nz - 2011-05-14 21:19:00 |
| The afternoon tea went well and the weather was beautifull so had the ranchsliders wide open and sat drinking pink wine and eating cupcakes and cucumber sandwiches in the sun. We all dressed up and DIL had a wee veil and she and the 2 bridesmaids had pink sashes. By the time they all headed off to the pub for a hen's night I was exhausted but it was a good day. Raining again today so after we drop the boys home It might be an afternoon of knitting or cross stitch. grizzly4 - 2011-05-15 09:47:00 |
| What a weekend you have had grizzly. The poor girl. Gall bladder probelms are so darn painful. Glad the afternoon tea went okay and that the weather was nice. I finally got my haircut today. I had to, I looked like a shaggy dog. Lol. Got some knitting done tonight though which was relaxing. M has been a right little Minx and J was not happy today so my daughter is worn out. Thank heavens my SIL is home on Wednesday. makerealbany - 2011-05-15 23:08:00 |
| Wow these extra hours of work on my cross stitch are really paying off. I can actually see this one being finished in the near future after all this time. I'm trying not to think of what I'm going to do next as it's a bit early and I definitely want to finish this one before getting side tracked again. The next problem with it will be finding a frame the right size as it's larger than I imagined. grizzly4 - 2011-05-16 06:08:00 |
| Good on you grizzly. Maybe Hubby could make a frame for it. It was darn cold here today. M and I both wore woolly hats today when I took her dancing. I even put tights and sox on. Of course I had to change when I got home because it is so warm inside M's House. She is having a sleep over tonight so I have had the heater on for her. Consequently I am in short sleeves as this old woman is hot enough. Lol. I am off to Rotorua on Thursday until Tuesday and I am looking forward to it. Mind you Mum says it is freezing there but considering Mum wears a coat in the middle of summer that could mean almost anything. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2011-05-16 21:29:00 |
| Had a chuckle about I> making a frame for my cross stitch! Not going to happen. His hobbies have to include big motors, propeller blades and/or anything to do with helicopters! That sounds like a pleasant trip, or are you including, meetings in those precious days away, makerealbany? Are you coping without your Mall being up and running properly? grizzly4 - 2011-05-17 06:09:00 |
| Really had to search for us this morning, we had dropped down so far. My grandson L is 4 today! My, how time flys. We are going to my son's for a fish and chip tea tonight to celebrate and I have made a chocolate log birthday cake to take. I bought a 'Woody' cake topper from TM for it. Very cute, he will love it. grizzly4 - 2011-05-18 06:32:00 |
| Yes Rochelle had trouble getting home from work at pre school yesterday. had to wade in water to get to her car as the road was flooded, they are bellow the river level and the river has gone crazy since the earth quake, something to do with the river bed raising and being higher now than the storm drains, they have raised all the river bank around here by a meter, so thats saying something. suzy59nz - 2011-05-18 15:16:00 |
| Yes grizzly 6 meetings over the time. I need a break from babysitting. Ho ho need to get my brain working in a different way. Just about packed my bags. Still got some paperwork to do though. Mother Nature sure is mad with us all. Can't say I blame her. We had fish and chips as well. makerealbany - 2011-05-18 20:28:00 |
| You were keeping all those meetings a secret weren't you?!! Trying to make out your few days away were going to be a break and you were going to take it easy. Ha!! I knew it was too good to be true. 6 meetings over a few short days, good grief. Is your Mum going to see much of you? Ok i'll stop nagging now, you get the point, though, eh? grizzly4 - 2011-05-19 06:36:00 |
| Had a dreadful day with accountant who is doing the audit for the shop ringing me about 6 times at work. She just won't listen to the information I give and she certainly doesn't get the non-profit concept of a craft co-op!!!! She's only got one more day to get the audit ready for the AGM on Saturday after having the records for over a month. And don't even remind me she also has audits for 2 of our programmes at work and has the records since the week before the earthquake in February! Accountants are certainly a law unto themselves.... grizzly4 - 2011-05-19 20:02:00 |
| Thought the shop had a man auditor??? maybe she should have a word with him if she can't understand what she is doing, they are not getting paid for bothering you at work all the time, 6 times is ridiculous. suzy59nz - 2011-05-19 20:09:00 |
| 6 times yesterday, 4 times the day before plus 5 emails!! Auditor is a man but he has merged into a larger company and seems to be delegating the work to others. I am having to go into work early again to see if she has sent a copy through because I have to sign the first part of it and get it back to her so that she can then send me through the completed copy. Yesterday it was all about her wanting a form from the bank which needed more than my signature to request it in the first place. I flatly refused after learning the process from the bank that wasn't going to get her the form by today anyway and the bank charge for it was $50! I don't think we will get away with it next year though. But less than 48 hours notice was a bit rich!! grizzly4 - 2011-05-20 06:10:00 |
| HOWEVER, I am bright and early this morning to make cupcakes for the meeting tomorrow. Heehee. I even have wee decorations to go on top, that should get a bit of a laugh. grizzly4 - 2011-05-20 06:14:00 |
| Tea sorted for tonight, cupcakes to ice for this afternoon and just ran out of margarine! Oh well off to the supermarket.... Hope you all have a great weekend. Be brave suzy, the AGM will be fine! grizzly4 - 2011-05-21 10:03:00 |
| Hi girls. Been flat out. Yes grizzly I have seen my Mum. Going to have lunch with her today. Just doing reports and getting ready for meeting 7 tomorrow. Lol. Been really productive and positive though. I am having fun with Audit stuff as well. Government Audit processes changing daily it seems. Have a nice day girls. makerealbany - 2011-05-22 11:00:00 |
| I've been watching the Telethon but couldn't get into the facebook site to nominate a hero. A real shame 'cos I think the guy who set up Christchurch Quake Live has been a godsend and Sam Johnson for the setting up the Student Army. grizzly4 - 2011-05-22 20:58:00 |
| Good grief I am really tired this morning, I guess the weekend wasn't very relaxing and I did watch an amazing documentary on tv till 10.30 last night. It was called This Way of Life on Maori TV after the Telethon. Did anyone else see it? grizzly4 - 2011-05-23 06:22:00 |
| Apparently it was made a few years ago and Sunday night was a rerun. grizzly4 - 2011-05-24 06:20:00 |
| Daughter came through surgery well, and for a change she was first on the list for the afternoon instead of last. Went back up to see her last night and she had been up to have a wash, but she was in a lot of pain, poor thing. grizzly4 - 2011-05-25 06:07:00 |
| omg grizzly. Your poor girl in hospital again!!! I thought I was reading old news had to check I was on the right page. I am glad it went well. I just arrived home today. I was worn out and had to stay an extra day to rest before I drove home again. Lol. My niece had a little boy while I was there and his two sisters are delighted with him. I had a lovely visit with my sis, the grandma with the newest arrival. He is lovely. I got the most amazing hugs from my two grandchildren when I got home. J is only 7 months but he hugged and squeezed me so many times. His parents were astounded and his Mum said I have never seen a baby do that before. Not at his age. He smiled and smiled and would pull me in close, tuck his little arms around my neck, get his chin down on my chest and squeeze. I was quite overwhelmed by my welcome home.lol, I fed him his tea and miss M wanted me to tell her a story before she went to sleep. I have unpacked and watered my plants. Now I am going to knit. makerealbany - 2011-05-25 21:58:00 |
| It's lovely having you home again, makerealbany. I have missed your lovely messages. I am picking my daughter up this morning and taking her home from hospital. She has had a very rough time pain wise and a pretty emotional time with her unsupportive partner. It was picked up quite clearly when he took B2 up to see his Mum yesterday that when he left a nurse and a doctor came to ask S. all the questions about her safety at home. I am glad it's on record now. But of course she's not well enough now to do anything about it - actually there's always a reason why it's not the right time. Such a sad situation. grizzly4 - 2011-05-26 06:41:00 |
| Oh that is so sad grizzly. The poor girl. She will be in a lot of pain and an unsupportive partner is just a millstone around her neck. Ok Timing is the thing alright. Maybe one day she will be strong enough emotionally to work out what she wants and needs in a relationship. Sometimes it takes years for people to work out what is best for them and their families. Thank heavens she has you for a Mum. But you can only do so much. You cannot live her life for her that is a choice she must make. I had a lovely day with little J. He had 3 sleeps for me. M was at preschool so her dad managed to dig a drain for me in the rain. A was at work. I am tired now though. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2011-05-26 21:13:00 |
| Hi smartgirl. How are you? makerealbany - 2011-05-26 21:19:00 |
| Dont ask, I have been so sick since last Wed and by Mon was fighting off going to hospotal but am starting to come right. I have had a couple of calls from the dr during the week and am to see her on Monday to reassess things. On Wed night I was one step from calling the ambulance but was more worried about getting sicker in hospital as we are leading the country with the worst flu and I would have been in that ward. It was certainly the power of positive thinking that got me througn. smartgirl - 2011-05-26 21:45:00 |
| That sounds dreadful, smartgirl! Here was me thinking you were just busy as... I'm sorry you aren't well, congratulations on staying away from the hospital though. The air conditioning in those buildings will get you if nothing else does. I have been coughing like crazy this week with being in there so often over the past few days. I hope you are getting lots of support from family. I guess none of us are getting too much knitting done? although I am trying to get a white 4ply bolero type cardy done for DIL's 3 year old flower girl. It has a lovely lace panel around the edge so should look very effective on the day with her beautiful dress. grizzly4 - 2011-05-27 06:07:00 |
| Oh smartgirl. Whenever we don't hear from you I worry. Good on you for staying out of the germ hibernation sector. Yes my daughter the Midwife tells me all the time about the lousy bugs in the hospital. You have been having a tough time for awhile now. I hope you start to feel better soon. makerealbany - 2011-05-28 00:49:00 |
| I got some knitting done tonight grizzly. Watching American Idol. Darn good show tonight. That bolero cardi sounds lovely. I finished a cardi for J and am halfway through one for K. Need to go and buy buttons tomorrow. I have 3 tins full but I need 3 sets and I am not happy with any of the choices at home. Dash it all. I have to go and buy my grandson in Christchurch 2 long sleeved, crew neck skivvie type shirts. (His words) and 2 warm long sleeved singlets. He says it is really cold there now. So I will be busy tomorrow. Lol. makerealbany - 2011-05-28 00:55:00 |
| yes makerealbany, cold here now, although we are having some nice sunny days with blue sky's, always nice to see the sun even if there is no warmth in it, so much better than depressing grey sky. This morning was almost a frost. suzy59nz - 2011-05-28 18:42:00 |
| What fun!!! Not. I watch DIL from a distance when she's on shopping duty for wedding stuff. I drew the line when it was being discussed amongst her family what all the rest of should wear. I asked my son if he felt like eloping! Haha. She keeps trying to involve me in the shopping trips, thank goodness I was up fron about hating that sort of thing, especially in malls these days, or I would be running out of excuses by now. grizzly4 - 2011-05-28 19:17:00 |
| Hi suzy, I remember the wedding shopping routine. Absolutely dreaded it. One year a long, long time ago I had 3 of my kids married in the same year. Must have been a bad year they all divorced their spouses over time. Lol. Not that I disagreed with that decision. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2011-05-28 23:50:00 |
| Yes grizzly I will go to the Warehouse and Postie tomorrow. I did my grocery shopping today and browsed in the mall but did not see anything I thought was suitable. Did they give your girl anything to settle her tummy? She is having a nasty time. Yep avoid the wedding shopping it is a nightmare. When T got married 4 years ago I think it was, I only went once to help her choose the Traditional Wedding Sari. That took hours and hours in the one shop. makerealbany - 2011-05-28 23:58:00 |
| Stuff nigjtmares are made of. If I am in the mood for browsing it will last all of half an hour. Haha. Even in my favourite shops (wool shops). I. is off early this morning to check out an aero club again to fly his huge plane. (Sigh). It's as frosty as and the membership fee is $260!!! It's worse than having kids, really it is. And then his leg will be so bad he won't be able to do the stuff in the garden I would like done. Grrr. MIght as well see what I can achieve before he's back at lunch time. Need to do some baking and hem a new pair of jeans as well. Have a great day, girls! grizzly4 - 2011-05-29 09:30:00 |
| I had a good day. Everyone went to take M rock climbing. She was happy but tired when they got home. I did all our washing, hung it out and it started to rain so got it all in again and did one load in the dryer. I hung the rest on the two inside lines and locked up both places and went shopping. Lol. I got my grandson his thermals and two long sleeved skivies. I saw a very nice black warm Jacket in the Warehouse so I rang him, gave him the barcode and told him to go into tomorrow and try it on. It is $70 so I want to make sure he likes it before I fork out. Ha ha. The young people have different ideas of clothing. He is cold so it will be ideal as it is padded. He only has his Leather Jacket which is as thin as. Went to the library and then came home and knitted. A laid back day. makerealbany - 2011-05-29 20:47:00 |
| Sounds great! I did the laundry and baking then headed for the garden in the sun. Needless to say the jeans didn't get done. Then we went for a coffee in the mall, were there for a couple of hours in the end as people spotted us and stopped to chat. One couple we hadn't seen in years - he was our Best Man 31 years ago. It was great catching up although they aren't having a great time of it post-quake at all as their house is on the banks of the Avon River. Once insurance pays out for the house they are doubtful whether they will be able to use the land to rebuild. They've been there over 20 years and it was their first house so very attached to it. Apparently they lived in a tent at a friends for the first 3 weeks and had to share with another family! grizzly4 - 2011-05-30 06:13:00 |
| Got home from work to get a phone call from my daughter that she has to go back into hospital on Thursday for day surgery to check for gall stones in the tubes that used to connect to her gallbladder! Do you not think they would have done that at the time they removed it!!!!!! GGGGGGrrrrrrrrrrr..... grizzly4 - 2011-05-30 18:52:00 |
| actually i am quite in to this wedding shopping, think it is diff when it is your daughter and not DIL . I like the way she is involving me asking me for my input, something to do with the $6,000 we are paying out too i am guessing, they are paying the rest. So far we have the little gift boxes for the tables with pink & white M&Ms (from america) we have pink ribbon for decoration, tuel for decorating the staircase, a wishing well. and i am sure something else that i can't remember, materiel this week for those dresses. suzy59nz - 2011-05-30 21:36:00 |
| Heavens grizzly what next? Hells bells!!!!!! that girl is going through the wringer in all directions. I would be hopping mad. Hope everything goes okay for her. It is nice to catch up with old friends. I often think when I see someone I haven't seen for ages" My we are getting old" Ha ha. It is amazing how some people never change, isn't it? I am babysitting all day tomorrow so that will keep me out of trouble. My grandson could not find the Jacket. Duh. So I tolfd him to try some on and I can just bank the money for him to go and buy it. Saves me posting a big parcel. makerealbany - 2011-05-30 22:22:00 |
| Well that is cool that you are enjoying the wedding shopping Suzy. It is nice if it is fun. I remember having a great time buying all the flowers and ribbons etc for the first 4 weddings. i have done all the flower arrangements for the Bridal Party as well as the halls, etc. I liked that part. ha ha. I baked and decorated two of the cakes. I did not like that part. Thosedarn tiers drove me crazy. lol. I had to buy 3 Mother of the Bride Outfits as they all got married in the same year I could not wear the same thing. Never wore them again either. Mind you having to wear 3 different outfits in 3 days for my Daughter's 2nd Wedding was so different. True I have not had the chance to wear my traditional Indian outfit yet but I will soon. The other two outfits I have worn several times. Just different accessories. Times are so different thank goodness. makerealbany - 2011-05-30 22:36:00 |
| I can't even imagine how stressful 3 weddings in one year would be! Thank goodness my son's wedding isn't costing the amounts suzy is talking about, either. I think I'd rather offer them the money toward a house instead and they could elope. Heehee. Although buying a house down here wouldn't be advisable for awhile.Apparently it's only 40 sleeps till their big day, good grief, but first I have Thursday to get through with my daughter. grizzly4 - 2011-05-31 06:01:00 |
| 40 sleeps lol, its like kids counting down till Christmas day or birthdays. It wasn't so long ago it was over a year away and now just over a month away, were has the time gone, Im sure a couple of months ago my daughters wedding was 18 months away and now its about 9 months away lol. Think i must be getting old. suzy59nz - 2011-05-31 15:22:00 |
| That was nice for you to be taken to lunch Suzy. I laughed at the 40 sleeps. M counts the sleeps until her daddy gets home and she is 3 lol. It sounds fun to count like that grizzly. Makes it seem one has more time somehow. Miss M found an old wedding horseshoe in my junk sewing box so was marching arpund with it on her weist the other day. Also told me this morning she is going to England to see her friend Angel who has moved there. Had to explain how far away it is. Doesn't seem to bother her she knows the Princess and Prince got married there. Told her father " I saw it all on TV" ah to be that young and carefree again. Lol. makerealbany - 2011-05-31 19:43:00 |
| She sounds very cute, makeralbany. I love some of the things kids come out with sometimes. B2's speech as increased tremendously since he has been at preschool full-time. Mind you he is also saying 'no' to everything as well which drives me up the wall. grizzly4 - 2011-06-01 06:19:00 |
| Yes it is amazing how they come out with all sorts of things once they are at preschool. M is there 3 days a week now. Wow you sound as if you have the week all sorted grizzly. I have little K on Saturday as his Mum is working from 3 to 11. I am trying to get her to let him stay here the night as the family are going to Rotorua to see Mum for the long weekend and I have all the animals to look after. He has never stayed a night and his Mum is humming and arring all about the place. Lol. I told her just to think about sleeping in the next morning. Trying to bribe her of course. Ha ha. It will be good for him and for me as well. I am going to get her sister to work on her tomorrow. Lol. makerealbany - 2011-06-01 23:35:00 |
| Another day gone. Time just flies now. Managed to get most of the washing nearly dry. Had to finish it off in the drier for 10 mins. Did not feel one bit guilty about using the drier either. It is colder here tonight but quite crisp. I have just finished returning 3 phone calls and now I am going to knit. Downloaded more patterns as I am trying to use up my ink cartridges so I can connect my new printer. I refuse to until the ink is all gone. Lol. You can tell I am of Scottish descent. Had some research to do for my NPO and have finished that. Did a bit of weeding but the ground is so wet and clay is a begger in the winter. In the summer too ha ha. My SIL has built a new woodbox at the back door. So much tidier. Looks good. We are going to fill it up next week as he will be gone again the week after that. As I said time flies. makerealbany - 2011-06-02 21:02:00 |
| I have mental pictures of you all making lists of things for that SIL to work on during his trips home! Haha. I'm having all sorts of problems with this darn computer. Hasn't been right since the last virus really when everything was emptied of it. It keeps freezing out the mouse and you can't even turn it off without re-booting the whole darn thing. Really, really slow, too, makes browsing TM a painful process. grizzly4 - 2011-06-03 06:35:00 |
| Nothing like a bit of retail therapy! I am knackered and my legs hurt like hell and it's the furthest S. has walked in two weeks but we thoroughly enjoyed a couple of hours in the mall together. Miracles actually happen when I'm not looking for anything in particular, added a couple of nice pieces to my wardrobe and another pretty scarf and a book for my Dad's birthday in July (same day as wedding but Mum and Dad aren't well enough to travel down from Blenheim). Very productive but now I need to put my feet up. grizzly4 - 2011-06-03 16:39:00 |
| I hope your girl starts to feel better soon grizzly. Darn hospitals no wonder people dread going there. She has a lot to contend with that girl. Why aren't people more sympathetic. Back to work on Monday!!!!!!!! My computer had to be rebooted tonight. I came home from daughters and the power was cut. My family here are away for the weekend so I lit all the candles, sorted out the animals by torchlight and sat meditating. Lol. Once the power was on I had to go into the house and check everything. I have been watching a movie and knitting. Very windy here but not too cold. makerealbany - 2011-06-03 22:10:00 |
| Grizzly, I have had that procedure after my opp, they reckon that a stone sometime escapes down the tube when they do surgery. It is a horrible thing, I hope they gave her meds to make her dozy. My latest update! I had to go to the dr again yesterday as I had made no improvement and she gave me really strong meds and told me to take 4 for the first 2 days instead of 3 to kick start it and I have to say (touch wood) that after 24 hours I think I feel a bit better. smartgirl - 2011-06-04 07:48:00 |
| Smartgirl, you haven't been well for a long time now! I do hope these meds make a difference for you. grizzly4 - 2011-06-04 09:14:00 |
