Afternoon all,
Am very excited as I am going into the quilt shop tomorrow to learn how to hand quilt, I have got everything ready to go, will be so great to see my hand appliqued quilt all finished and hanging on the wall.
L slept for 14 and a half hours last night, he was knackered..
ah good coalie's boiled jug !!

This is such a co-incidence . . . I am a hand quilter and I am just now starting to think I ought to join a class to learn how to machine quilt! Ha ha!

I guess I've probably left it too late in the year but will check out something for the new year.

Thanks coalie...needed that! Oh what a beautiful mooooooorning has turned into a beautiful daaaay. I think I should go and mow the lawns now that I have had my cuppa. Actually cut the grass might be more apt. Lawn gives the impression that there is an expanse of manicured beauty. It is actually a bit of reclaimed orchard full of weedy tough old stuff that grows like stink!

ah yduj pitty you live so far away you could of been my hand quilting teacher !!
I have only done basic quilting like straight lines but hopefully one day would like to have a go doing free motion, pitty coalie lives too far away too :o(

LOL Holly did i buy a dress hahahaha there are 6 of them and a long skirt, ive tried some of them but na probably well more than likely will never put one on again, tis so good the 3 girls and i are all the same size.
the dresses are flash and look like theyve never been worn they are lovely, girls were impressed with mums shopping hehe :)
have taken the handles off the draws ready for sanding, they are 2cm deep hmm wont hold much stash but there are 26 haha :)
we had fresh snapper for tea mmmm caught yesterday yumm, there wasnt much left when i went to dish it up as there was when cooking .....haha Dilli must of swooped down on her broom hahaha :)

Hello hello,
Well i went to the quilt shop this morning and the first thing i had to do was pin the quilt all up, I had to pin it on the floor and i did have sore knees afterwards and a sore back but, tis all done and i have hand stitched stitch in the ditch round one bit, Found it quite tricky to do the "rocking" as they call it, will have to try a smaller needle, coz the way i was doing it will take me 10 fricken years to complete !!!! above all that i did enjoy it which was the main thing..
Having an early night tonight.

Shell, I remember when I hand quilted my very first quilt the very centre stitches looked like gathering stitch but by the time I had done the whole thing I'd mastered the smaller stitches. I was going to re-do the centre ones but decided I liked to see how much i had improved.

BTW there are some good You Tube videos to watch. And the Thimbelady site shows you what she does, although she is also selling her unique thimble. I'd love to try before I buy as it is fairly pricey so I've just watched what she does.

Some of the videos show how to "pop" your knotted thread in to the centre of the quilt sandwich.
