Hi to all experienced quiters, can you please help me as i am new to this. Is it ok to back a quilt with a flannelete or cotton Sheet? i am not hand quilting it i plan do have it done with a long arm quilting machine.

Hello Tidewathcher, i say yes sheets are fine, i use flannelette sheets they make the quilt cosy. Skippie ( the experienced brilliant quilter ) will be in tho, she does longarm so she will know for sure.

Thank you coalrange, i had just paid $50 for backing a small single quilt and that was on special and i thought that there must be a cheaper way of doing this. It does work out quite expensive by the time you get the quit quilted.i'm going out to my first class tomorrow and i wanted to be a little bit up on the play before i went.

the fabric is about a meter long, lots of fun but lots of hours yet, trees and beads to go on and and and soooo many ideas.
would go bake snupper but im still eating the holden and ford cakes they are yum :)

Clever clogs coalie...of course I went back and did a close up look! Guess what? It looks just as good so no more fretting okay? Is it going to be a quilt?

oh my gosh ! lol at the pic, down beside the castle the box is 1/2 covered in thick dust ! ummm ok thats the dust bunnie breeding area ok everywhere else in the house is spotless aha hahaha lol yeah right ;)

Evening all, finally surfaced it of my studio. Quilt is progressing well.
Tidewathcher please give your flannel sheet a warm wash before it gets stitched as the shrinkage is different then quilting cotton, yes it does make a cuddly quilt using a flannel backing.

colour Shell, im not good with colour thats what i spent saturday doing trying all sorts of colour ideas but couldnt get it right. i may do some dull green vines up the front of the castle but other than that just black.

Sorry about yesterday I finished all the sewing for my sister and just colapsed afterwards just very tired and slept most of yesterday after Id been down and posted her parcel. (3 dresses - caftans and 3 cardies) and I made the same 3 cardis for myself also. SO I was really zooned out heheheeeeeeee Or it may just have been all that potion in me coke zeros eh) heheheeeeeeee

savoury corn fritters ( bacon and cheese in them) and sausages here too colaie plenty left. Was so yummy. Lots of cheese made them nice and crunchie heheeeeeee and a little magic potion to I bet heheeee

Jumbo I will massage your feet for a coffee, love doing that, make sure u have some lavender oil. Very easy tea here tonight, listened to the bl..dy compressor all day while the blasted the moss of the roof, noisy buggers.
Quilt still not finished, but I needed to rest my feet.
