I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post

A busy time for you too Kiwimade. Glad the INR has dropped but that's nearly too low as well eh. It will settle Im sure. Will MrK have someone to pander to his needs while your away?
Our GP rang, the dermatologists want biopsys of MrPs legs so we have to go to drs by 8am so those can be done. Hope Im allowed to watch lol... Cos Im strange like that. That will be sent up to hospital and they will test it. And will call us if they want him into hospital.
I haven't unpacked his bag so I must have known.

Ive just spent 45 minutes trying to convince my SIL that the doll is too ugly to knit. She likes it and reckons the granddaughter will too. So I said Ill knit it if Im allowed to change the horrendous colours. Ill take a photo and put it on here tomorrow.
She asked how much I wanted for knitting all three toys so I told her she can work that out with her hubby. Cos I want a leather purse made. And he does leather work and carving on it etc. She said so I don't have to pay anything, I said yes, you pay your hubby lol instead of me. He has to pay for the leather , so that's fair

Travel safely Kiwimade... Have lots of cuddles with Maddy.

Hope everyone else is on the mend and behaving.

Safe travel Kiwimade make sure can find the wool shop and you park longways so you don't have to back out again.

Kuaka hope your mr K's convalescence goes ahead quickly - there is quite a lot of research which shows that once over the acutely sick stage people do do better in their own homes - better nights in own beds and own noises, meals to suit them and a hugely less risk of infections.

That sounds like a very fair swap Popeye - a leather bag for the knitting.

Continuing with dolls clothes - friend had said that it was 35cm (14") doll so I knitted for that and then asked to borrow the doll and found it is a large 16" so nothing I had made fitted luckily I had only done a few things and they will fit the dolls I have for little visitors to play with.

Is Mr Kiwimade in wd 2 or 12? My Mr. spent 4 days in 12 and came out with a permanent catheter, I spent 12 weeks in Wd 2, long story, but I think those 2 wards have the best nurses ) My visits were in 3 stints in 1 year. I carted my knitting around with me but didn't do much at all, unlike my friend who would sit quietly by me through some tough times...just knitting.

I went to the movies today for the 1st time in about 15 years, I went and saw Philomena. Well worth the effort.

I have a funeral to go too tomorrow. A 25 year old whose parents had to make the choice of when to turn off their sons life support. A good and decent young man taken early.
I am rather tired tonight so might head for bed.

he's in the High dependency unit GMS, not sure what ward they will put him on eventually.

How very sad for the family of that young man. Far far too young to be taken.

Haven't been to the movies for years :) Probably not since the kids were small and we would go to all the Disney movies lol.

I'm off too, have a very early start tomorrow :)

Happy knitting :)

We had a phone call from ACC today, asking what support they can give to Mr K. I said he didn't need support, I did, and I was told that I'm not entitled to any, he is the injured party and he gets the support, I get nothing. He told them he doesn't want a complete stranger coming in to shower him when I can do it, he wants me to be able to look after him, which means I can't do all my normal chores, so after a lot of arguing I've been granted two hours per week for housework. I can either have two one hour stints or one two hour stint. So if I can get someone to come and do the vacuuming, mop the floors, do a bit of dusting etc, then I can concentrate on looking after Mr K and trying to keep the place reasonably tidy.

My sister phoned earlier. She couldn't believe Mr K got up and made the tea this morning. Let's hope he continues to improve.

Off to bed now.

Safe travels kiwi, it's a nice morning for travelling. Kuaka before my dad died they use to just send him home with mum, no offer of support and they were both in their 80's, so if he got up or fell in the middle of the night she was the one who had to lift him back of the floor. So very glad you insisted on help.

morning ladies :) Thank you for all the well wishes :)

You goooo kuaka and stick to your guns! Homehelp is better than nothing I suppose - years ago I used to do that. Often it was to give the main caregiver a break. Dad also has homehelp - we were so grateful for the lady who did the housework when mum was so ill. It meant we could spend those final days with her and family and friends instead of having to clean the loo etc.

Just finishing my coffee, dishes to do then I'm off. It's foggy and nice and cool so I should get to at least Taupo before it gets too hot.

happy knitting ladies and I'll 'see' you all on Saturday.

Travel safe Kiwimade... Look at us all up and about early.

Ive been awake since about 4-20am. Sat up to take some pain meds and ended up with bad cramp from butt to ankle but on the inside of the leg. Hobbled to the garage and got slicker pads out of freezer.
Off to get these biopsys done. Then Ill bring MrP home and go back and get groceries.
Good on you Kuaka for sticking to your guns. Im to the point that I need help, just with the floors and cleaning the bathroom and toilet. Im going to ask my friend if she will pop in and do the floors. I can live with the bathroom like it is for another few days.
Probably just as well Im not close to a spotlight, Id never be buying food lol.

I think my e-reader may have died.. but Ill worry about that later..grrr

Have a good day.. Ill be back later

Hi, I hope all your men feel better soon and you ladies can distress. Don't like the idea of what I have to look forward to. I hope I can order a relatively healthy old Mr. Mine is away for work in Auckland this week, so yummy I had a one square meal bar for tea last night. Finished a really cool hoody but can't show you here as it's listed for sale but I put it up on the knitters face book. Walked through Cave Stream on Tuesday, all dark, cold and spooky. It's a cave system underground near Arthur's Pass, 594 metres long. Fun, fun, fun!

Not much for me to say this morning.

We get 2 hrs homehelp and it is for Barry but I get 21 days respite payment per year and it is for the carer (me) so that he can go into care or I can pay for extra help to check on him so that I can get a complete break. He won't go into care but I just had a wild thought and wondered if I could go into care for 3 weeks?????

I too did homehelp and personal cares many years ago.

*armin* often we don't see ourselves as getting old and fragile, I think my 40's were among the best years of my life. Kids were independent, I was financially independent, parents were still well. I felt invincible.
Enjoy those years while you can.

Sounds like a cool tramp through the walk Armin... Wish I was fitter id love to go to places like that.

GMS would be lovely if we could get time out catered for eh. Im ok so long as MrP isn't grumpy with his troubles. Then it gets to me. And most men get grumpy instead of admitting they are unwell or sore. They see that as a weakness.
Biopsys went well. Thank goodness we are on automatic payment tho. $120 later and that was discounted , it should have been $180.
So they will be on their way now. And its going to Middlemore so if he has to go there its not so far for him to travel.

Right I better get some cream on his legs, they are driving him potty.

Hi guys (sorry ladies lol)
Just popped in to let you know that i have heard back from
northlands mall and was told there were a few things that the service centre did wrong and that it they had done their job right, there was a very good chance i would have gotten my wallet back the next day. Anyhow...
I have been offered a $100 gift card as way of an apology.
I spend the day on friday with my sister and showed her what i would buy on the off chance i got reembursed.
So when we next get together we're going shopping :)

Our lovely weather continues and it would have been lovely away on the boat, alas I've just had my third night of broken sleep. I've been up since just after 5 which is the middle of the night for me.

A lovely lady called yesterday to arrange the help I am to receive and when I mentioned I was concerned about Mr Ks bp, she took it (apparently she's a registered nurse and had her bp thingey in her bag) and it was fine, so that's a relief. She also said she would call in and check it each week even though it's not part of her job description. Later in the afternoon I had to phone the doc for stronger pain relief for him, and spoke to the doc who stressed the importance of Mr K keeping his collar on until after he's had his next CT scan in 6 to 8 weeks, as she said a fragment of bone has moved, and if it doesn't heal he may still need surgery or if it moves any further he could still end up in a wheelchair or 6 feet under. He has promised me he will behave.

I managed to sit out in the sun for a while on the deck and did a few rows of knitting, but came in when I could feel myself nodding off. I'm thinking I will have to take naps in the afternoon while he is needing so much attention.

I'm going to do some knitting now before breakfast.

Have a lovely day everyone and try to squeeze in some craft.

Hi Kuaka Sorry to hear Mr K is in a bad way.A little bird told me to pop over to this thread.
Look after yourself and take naps during the day.Pickup your knitting do the odd row or two with your cuppa..Enjoy yourself!!!
It's going to be along road for both of you.
I'm off to have some breakfast, then out to a knitting group I get to go to during the holidays. Back to work next week.
Take care both of you.

Morning everyone.
Yup Kuaka have rests when you need them. Hospital drs told me when I had my heart opp, the best thing anyone can do for themselves is an hours rest after lunch. Anyone not just heart people.
It recharges your batteries./... like a Seista.

The photo of the ugly doll. Im going to put her in pinks and purples. And have brown hair. I think she is horrible but at least I wont have to look at it

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/302366418.jpg

Ive only got the 9 flowers to do today. there was 14 leaves, they are simple but work

Had a cuddle of wee Addy from next door last night. her dad came over to change a lightbulb for us and brought her to see us. I haven't lost my knack she was asleep in minutes lol. Im wondering if the ticking of my valve might help with that. She was ina wonder woman onesie and was sooo cute and smelt yummy lol. Shes one of these poor babies that get her teeth very early. Shes just about 2.5 months and is getting one already.

Lovely day here. Ive picked beans so will do those and then get back into the knitting.

Have a good day everyone

Take care Kuaka and prioritise your days - let the non essentials go (in my case that would be housework lol) and grab every opportunity for a rest or relax with the knitting. It's not all about Mr K there are 2 people here and your care is as important if not more so than his.

love the start of the blanket Carol I did one in squares like that and it turned out most effective rather than a spiral.

Trying to adapt a pattern to make a school uniform for a doll - it is for a new entrant teacher's class so will make a uniform as a surprise for her. Made the black shorts last night don't knit black very often and it is certainly a daytime colour for knitting lol.

thanks ladies for your words of comfort. I'm going to shower shortly then nip to the shops, he wants some calcium enriched milk to help mend his bones. Don't know if it will help but anything is worth trying. Then I think I'll have a nap - before lunch - and probably again after lunch. I'm feeling pretty knackered at the moment. carolev skyped me this morning and said I looked pretty rough - thanks Carole! Really made me feel better - not.

popeye that doll is worse than ugly, she's grotesque. I would be making her face look different somehow. I hate making things that I don't like myself. A lady once asked me to knit this hideous hat which had dangly bits with pom-poms on. I knitted the hat then asked if she wanted the pompoms thinking there was no way in the world she would want them. Of course, she said, they're the best bit. Yikes. No accounting for taste as my grandmother used to say.

Oh yes, and up here in the winterless north, the sun has disappeared, it's blowing half a gale, it looks like rain and feels like winter.

Havent managed any knitting as yet.

Im searching new phone companies Im sick of being pushed around by telecom. And after nearly 25 years of loyalty to them they may just lose a customer. vodaphone is looking ok at the mo. I can get the home phone and calling plus free mysky for the same as Im paying telecom.
Just have to decide what to do concerning the mobile. Cos I don't want to have to buy another new phone.

Well time for more study on phones. then Ill be able to make a start on the roses

I love the dress and such a pretty little girl. :)

I would definitely stay with telecom *popeye* I have never had a problem with them. My rather large family often change providers but seem to have various problems.

I am currently making another small Golliwog. I gave my last one away to a friend turning 40. :)

I attended a funeral yesterday for a young man who died following an accident in a vehicle at Tuakau last week. I had known him since birth . It is not something you want to attend :(

I agree with you GMS. young people shouldn't die. In one way I suppose Im lucky that Mum chose not to tell me when my nephew died and when his funeral was. but I still should have been told. Then id have had the choice to go or not. Which I would have.
I find funerals for dads the hardest for me. Having lost two myself.

Have only done one flower lol.. Quite quick to do, just have been busy doing other things.
Ive decided Im not that fond on knitting thick wool. So Ill some how get around MrP cos he will growl and Ill swap it for thinner wool.

morning ladies :) Well I am feeling quite proud of myself! Drove all the way to Wellington, helped son pack and load the trailer and then back home again. Didn't get lost once AND I reversed the trailer! My crowning achievement lol. Backed it around petrol pumps in Petone and again at Maccas when we stopped for dinner on the way home. Omg... our son's flat was at the top of a steep hill and I had to drive with the trailer round all these hairpin bends. Then we had to get his gear down 80 steep steps - 12 (yep 12!!) trips up and down those steps and we were shattered. Still, home now.

Back up to the hospital for me today, MrK was texting me like crazy over the last couple of days as he had time to think and worry just lying there. (He also needs clean undies lol). But first to unload the trailer and car and return the trailer and fuss over the Furry One.

At some stage I plan to stitch or crochet, but will see how I am feeling. Am pretty shattered, even this morning.

Hope everyone is well and your men who are unwell are behaving themselves.

Happy knitting :)

Edited to add I did call into that wool place south of Taihape and I didn't buy a thing! Shock! Horror! There wasn't anything I was looking for so might do an online order instead.

Well done kiwimade on the trip, the trailer and the woolpower. My man is behaving himself, but I did phone the surgery on Thursday for stronger pain relief for him and the doc stressed the need for him to keep his neck still, she said there is a bone fragment which has moved and if it moves any further it could still paralyse or kill him. Also said if it doesn't heal he may still need surgery but we won't know until after his next CT scan in 6 to 8 weeks time, meantime he is to keep still.

I gave in about 4pm and sloped off to bed for a nana nap, and slept till 5.30. I went out like a light and slept very well and felt much better afterwards. He did wake me during the night but not intentionally, I heard him struggle out of bed and go to the loo, but then not long afterwards he was having a nightmare and yelling at the top of his voice and his fists were flying and he must have been trying to kick something to death. Second night running this has happened, and his movements are so violent it worries me that he'll do himself more harm. I was so tired I went straight back to sleep so I'm feeling a bit better today.

Going to try to tidy up a bit today and then do some knitting.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone. February already, time is whizzing by

Have fun at spotlight Carole

Well done Kiwimade on your epic trip. Some of the streets in Wellington are a bit hairy eh. Gosh my knees would be shattered after all those stairs.
Hope MrK is improving.
Its a scary thought isn't it Kuaka, that if the bit of bone moves it can be catastrophic. MrP is the same but eventually the fear eases and its not in the forefront of your mind so much. MrPs is much lower down so I suppose I can be thankfull for that.
Last few days my back has been a mess, its getting me down today, so Ill just try and get my head above it.
I only knitted one flower yesterday. Ill try and get the rest done today and get that doll finished. Have till May to make the superhero and then July for the Ugly Doll.

Have a good day everyone

Absolutely gorgeous weather here today. Mr K had a coughing fit a while ago when he was drinking a cup of tea and it went down the wrong way. It was awful. He's asleep in the chair now. I'm just going to sit outside on the deck in the sunshine and have a coffee and do a few rows of knitting and watch the weeds growing.

Mr K became a great-great-grandad for the first time yesterday. He doesn't seem overly impressed with the news.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine if you have some.

Lovely here too Kuaka.
Ouchies bet that hurt MrK

W0w a great great granddad.. id say by now MrP would be a great granddad, however we wont ever know. Hes a great great Uncle tho.

Ive finished knitting the Fairy, wont sew it up till tomorrow. Have joined one row of squares. its fairly easy really. I went to a smaller hook to make it easier to get through the loops. Have only done one square backwards lol and thankfully noticed before I tied the end off.. phew.

Wish I could sit out in the sun, but with meds Im on I fry, so best I don't go out there.
And Ive already fried my wrist today. I knocked the tray as I was taking scones out of oven. metal tray touched the inside of my wrist.. not nicey nicey. but I have Mebo cream which is what the hospitals use and glad wrap and the stinging has gone.

Have fun with what ever you are making at the mo

morning ladies :) That wind yesterday did some damage to the garden so I'll be outside doing a tidyup this morning, the hose is on as the ground is drier than dry. No water restrictions as on bore water.

Have a ton of washing to do but son will help with that as it's mostly his bedding etc we are freshening up for when he moves into his flat in a couple of weeks.

MrK comes home Monday so things are starting to settle back down again.

Might even get some stitching done today, haven't touched it since Tuesday. Oh.... daughter loved her slouch hat I knitted for her and I bought her a gorgeous deep blue and purple sewing basket. As I was leaving, she was filling it up with all her bits and pieces lol. Told her this sewing lark will be a lifetime thing lol. Just have to convince her to learn to knit!

happy knitting :)

Morning ladies.
A lovely day here.. too warm already.
Glad everyone is enjoying their crafts. Imagine not being able to do them.

Ive crochet three rows together and joined them. Quite pleased with how its going. Im joining them with red, and I think Ill have enough wool to do a couple of rows around the outside so maybe do both red and white on the edging
Ill make up the fairy today. Then Ill knit the super hero so they can go down in the same parcel. Then Ill do the Ugly doll in a couple of months.

Have a good day all.
