| Hi girls. I am at the beach with my girl for 4 days as the relis from Wellington are staying in my cottage. Going home on Sunday.I am using my granddaughters laptop while she is out at a movie. lol.I am having a great time here. Went shopping with my daughter today. This will be the first weekend we have spent together for ages. She has the weekend off hurrah.Poor grizzly talking to herself ha ha. I meant to get on line and tell you I was away but was so darn busy before I left home. Running around all over the place. It is cooler here but still sunny and nice. makerealbany - 2011-04-08 23:07:00 |
| Where is the family compassion? I am feeling guilty using my washing machine every day because of the water but doing other people's as well..... I still feel guilty. Do we trust them now saying we can drink the water without boiling first????? I see the colour coming out of some people's taps so no thanks, I have my routine boiling every second day now there's only 2 of us. I am getting orders from my TM auctions so need to go looking for wool. grizzly4 - 2011-04-09 09:52:00 |
| Sounds lovely, makerealbany. I am almost looking forward to going away for a few days but worried about my girls. The traffic is horrendous getting from one side of the city to the other taking an hour at times that I am reluctant asking my son to feed them. Will have to visit my parents soon in Blenheim to relieve their worries about us. It was my 20th anniversary at work in mid-March which kind of didn't get celebrated with everything else going. I am getting an extra weeks leave this year, plus $250 towards a weekend away. Nice, eh? grizzly4 - 2011-04-10 09:44:00 |
| no way am i drinking the water here, smells like swimming pool water, i am continuing to get water from a friend who lives out of town. I am also using her water for cooking too. they say it will be about 6months before they remove the clorine. suzy59nz - 2011-04-10 14:06:00 |
| Yep that sounds really nice grizzly. YOU JOLLY DESERVE IT ANYWAY. I would continue to boil the water as well. I was worried about my cats for the 5 days I was away. My SIL is hopeless at feeding them regularly even the dogs are fed at stupid times. My SIL's father got a telling off from me as well. When I whipped down to babysit J for an hour he had not fed my boys and it was 9 oclock. Poor cats ran up to me tonight. Well I have a report to write and send and then it is bed for me. I love the first night home to sleep in my own bed. What bliss!!!!! makerealbany - 2011-04-10 21:51:00 |
| Doing a report at 9.51pm??!! grizzly4 - 2011-04-11 08:21:00 |
| Yo grizzly. It was a very brief report. It alsowas well received at the meeting. Most likely because it was so short. Lol. I hope you get your Jacket girl. I am surprized at Millers though. I bought a lovely dress and matching coat at Postie the other day. Used to be Postie plus. Just saw it and thought that it would be handy to have as you never know I might go somewhere posh. Ha ha. Seriously though I did need an outfit I have not worn dozens of times. I have some plain classics in my warddrobe that appear timeless. Every once in awhile I want something different. Had an awesome day. SIL and grandson are doing a great job with the fencing. Just noticed I need a warrant for the car so will do that tomorrow. I usually take it to the local garage but the boys and my daughter are nagging at me to just go to the testing station. I always need to get something repaired but it is the age of the car. My SIL is looking at other cars for me. I hate to spend the money. As long as my car is safe and gets me there. Lol. I have a few calls to make and then I am off to bed. Really worked today and I feel it. Lol. makerealbany - 2011-04-11 21:06:00 |
| Yesterday morning a jacket was found in Nelson. I rang them, payment all sorted, price even came down by half for this week only! Then I came home to a message that they had found marks on the jacket and wouldn't sell it!!!!!! grizzly4 - 2011-04-12 08:24:00 |
| Oh what a bugger!!!!! My daughter bought her and I a pair of sheepskin boots and there was a mark on one of hers. She asked the manager if they would reduce them. Got them from Farmers. It was 50% off if you got 2 pairs. They were $129.99 a pair. The manager gave her another 20% off her pair for the mark so she only paid $39 for hers. She was over the moon and a bit of baking soda and the mark is gone. These are mi woollies brand made in NZ. They are so warm and have great soles. Why don't you try the manager? makerealbany - 2011-04-12 20:18:00 |
| I was dealing with the manager anyway and they have been great running around after me. The jacket was white imitation leather so would have to have been really careful with it anyway. I'm a bit brassed off the Millers website said I would have a reply to my email within 48 hours but haven't heard anything. grizzly4 - 2011-04-13 08:24:00 |
| #*% nO MORE THERE EITHER! grizzly4 - 2011-04-13 18:55:00 |
| Oh rats grizzly. I had a lazy day. Got my warrant no probelm. Yah!!!!! My grandson came and mowed the lawns which was good as we have quite a mess after the digger and the fencing. My side fence is nearly done. The front fence is finished and looks good. My legs were throbbing today after that long walk yesterday pushing J in his pram. Coming back up the hill I needed a tow. HA HA. makerealbany - 2011-04-13 20:12:00 |
| You do punish yourself, don't you makerealbany! Had my first evening meeting last night, starting at 5.45pm. I was quite nervous driving across town in the dark and was told by my boss to get over it, the meeting was important. The dratted thing only lasted 15 minutes, nothing was brought up that couldn't have waited but it was still dark by the time I hit the road and then I found a whole suburb in complete darkness as they had just lost their power. (Including poor suzy59nz again). had a great heart to heart with my doctor yesterday when I renewed my prescriptions and got a 'flu jab. My blood pressure is up quite a bit, something I never suffer from unless I'm pregnant (haha, no I'm not!). He reckons it's being anxious all the time. Sigh, great! grizzly4 - 2011-04-14 09:01:00 |
| What a lousy boss. All for 15 mins. Begger that grizzly. Yes you are anxious and it is no darn wonder after what you have been through and are going thru. I would not have relished driving home in the dark after the last 6 months either. My poor grandson was sent to a job by the agency for WINZ. He texted me to say he was tramatized and would never eat chicken again. They put him on the killing floor and he said it was inhumane and he will never do it again no matter what. He was feeling so sick during and after. He cannot stand the sight of chicken and nearly hurled in the supermarket. I have just finished the ironing and am now off to bed. makerealbany - 2011-04-14 23:44:00 |
| Your poor grandson! What a dreadful thing to do to someone!!!! grizzly4 - 2011-04-15 08:54:00 |
| Oh boy did I have a spend up last night when we went for tea at the mall, yep second visit! With disastrous results on the white jacket they are still only $45 so I bought a caramel coloured one for winter. I. got a new xbox game and I bought a couple of new glass pukekos for my collection plus a new book to read to L3 the next time he stays over. It's called 'Muddy Paws' and is a lovely book. I'd better behave for the rest of the weekend. heehee. grizzly4 - 2011-04-16 09:52:00 |
| Oh good on you grizzly. I was up in Orewa for the night as my daughter had the all night shift. My grand daughter and I took Little K in his pram for a walk around the shops. It was raining but we had a ball. She is into op shops. She likes the white lacey blouses that I wore 10 years ago. Ha ha. K loves the $2 shops so we wandered from place to place and then had lunch in Town. A lovely walk home in the rain and then we drove down here for the little ones to catch up. They all had a great time. I took them home again and their Mum was up and about in time to cook tea and bath K. Drove back home again to feed my boys. They were a bit wet and bedraggled. Lol. Tomorrow I am relaxing all day apart from a document I have to adjust with more modern terminology. makerealbany - 2011-04-16 23:15:00 |
| Hiya smartgirl. How are you? makerealbany - 2011-04-16 23:16:00 |
| Finished the document and just lolling around doing this and that. Great laid back day yippee. makerealbany - 2011-04-17 15:08:00 |
| Horrible wet weather! Struggling to get washing organised and dry without using too much water or power! OUr poor systems will be really struggling with all this rain. Had a lazy weekend, too, with only my daughter and B2 visiting on Saturday. Full-time pre-school isn't helping his behaviour yet, I'm sorry to say. Yesterday the plan was too nip over to Eastgate mall and photograph whats left of it to show Mum & Dad where my car was stuck in FEb. In the end visited Sumner where the whole scenery around the hills looks so different now because of the landslides and rock falls. Also took the trip through the opened up part of the CBD. Even after a short period of time I struggled to get my bearings and remember what should have been in the empty gaps and of course grieve for the fallen buildings that were part of the city's history and some that were part of personal memories. We were quite subdued on the drive home. Have some photos to share soon, watch out for my emails. grizzly4 - 2011-04-18 05:51:00 |
| Boy, I'm not doing very well guestimating how much wool I need to knit things!!! I have had to order yet another ball to finish B3's jacket that I hoped to hand over at Easter. And a jacket that has been ordered on TM has taken a lot more of a brand that I don't normally buy, so there will be no profit by the time it's posted. Silly me, I forget to check the meterage on the brands. Oh well, expensive lesson learned. grizzly4 - 2011-04-18 05:54:00 |
| Oh what a shame grizzly. Took my SIL to the airport today as he is off again. Sigh. He achieved such a lot this trip home. I love my new fence but there is a muddy bog outside at the moment. Not to worry we will get it sorted. My daughter has to go back to the airport tomorrow to pick up SIL's neice who is flying up from Motueka for a weeks holiday. M is so excited. My 7 yr old grandson is up on Thursday for 9 days holiday as well so it should be fun. Lol. M has the week off from preschool but is going to the holiday programme for 2 days next week. Pre school has mellowed her behaviour lol. makerealbany - 2011-04-18 23:17:00 |
| Preschool holiday programme? That's a new one for me! Our one is going for the next 2 weeks 8.30-5.30, hence my early starts. Yuck, it is so cold and wet. I. is getting me up at 5am before he leaves so I can be organised. I'm finishing at 3ish each afternoon so that's nice getting home earlier.Did you see the photos on the news online of the latest building being demolished? Thats just a few buildings down from where our audits are being done. I'm supposed to drop another one in tomorrow, can't say I'm that brave about it. grizzly4 - 2011-04-19 05:55:00 |
| Yes Montesorri have pre school holiday programmes. We are very pleased. Lol. We have 2 teenage girls here as well at the moment. Off to Snow Planet tomorrow unless J is still sick in which case I will stay at home with him. I don't mind that. Ha ha. How nice to get up at 5 to be organized. Not!!!!! You poor thing I struggled at 6. I would not like to go in there grizzly. Begger the darn Audit. Worked in the garden this arvo after babysitting little J this morning. I am a bit stiff tonight. Lol. What a mess the gardens are. I am pruning roses and cutting back my Buzy Lizzies. makerealbany - 2011-04-19 21:37:00 |
| My poor garden has been completely neglected, I think my roses in their tubs are dead through lack of water which is really sad, they've moved around a lot with me over the years. I hope we have reasonable weather during our week off at the beginning of May to get it all up to date. I don't think I. will be too happy prioritising the garden during his week off. Heehee. What's everyone knitting at the moment? I've just finished a hoody jacket for an order for TM and started an aran cardy for the same order. Poor Suzy59nz can't plan to do much when the power in her area keeps going off for hours on end. grizzly4 - 2011-04-20 06:13:00 |
| Poor suzy. What a pain!!!!! I am trying to finish a cardi for M. Then I have to knit K a jersey for his birthday in 2 weeks. I am cooking his cake and saw a lovely edible deco to put on the top on TM so have bought that last night to make things easier ha ha. He will be 2 but he is a little chappie compared to his chubby cousins. We are all rugged up here and I had my electric blanket on last night. You are buzy with your TM orders grizzly. Neat aye? makerealbany - 2011-04-20 08:57:00 |
| Yeah it is neat. At last my stuff is moving still with the shop closed. If it was all sitting here I would be very unmotivated to do any thing else. Which cake topper to you get? I have a daily search on TM to find new things for the boys cakes. I am watching a "Woody' at the moment from Toy Story 3 for L3's 4th birthday next month. Out of the 9 of us living here after the 'quake 4 have had their birthdays since then L3 in May and B2 in JUne. My son and daughter have to wait till August and then I'm at the very end. Very expensive this time of year, especially if you do the easter thing too. I'm giving them the wee jackets I've knitted (if the last one gets finished in time) then I had to buy white skivvies for them all to go with them, then Whitcoulls had this great book sale so they have a new book each as well. Sigh, oh well.... thats what Nana's do.................don't they? I dare you to disagree. Haha. grizzly4 - 2011-04-20 16:36:00 |
| Gosh my typing wasn't very good in that last message. My brain is faster than my one typing finger! grizzly4 - 2011-04-20 16:37:00 |
| Ha ha yes that is what we Nanas do. I got the animals in the train. Quite cool really. He loves trains. We are all going on a train ride for his birthday. Yes our birthdays are thick and fast in June,July and August. March and April are the only 2 months we no longer have Birthdays. I picked the girls up from Snow Planet at 9 tonight. They had been there since Lunch time. They had a ball. A brought M home at 4. J and I stayed at home because he has a cold. Poor little darling was miserable at times. We have more family for lunch tomorrow so another busy day. I still need to go and buy some more eggs but may have to go down tomorrow night. makerealbany - 2011-04-20 23:44:00 |
| Yay last day of the week!!! Off to Blenheim tomorrow till Sunday, looking forward to it but worried about what might be happening here while we're gone. Earthquake wise, of course, but also one of my cats has started bullying the others to get their food. We are having to supervise them at meal times, for goodness sake. There is no way Flurry will come out to get her food while my son is here to feed them so she is likely to miss out altogether the way Jinx is hoovering everything in sight. Have to come up with a strategy some how. grizzly4 - 2011-04-21 06:08:00 |
| Hope you had a lovely time away grizzly. My darn internet is dropping in and out. My daughter took her 2 sons, her niece and her grandson to the Wiggles concert. They loved it. My other daughter took her niece from down South to the skytower. They are both afraid of heights and had to support each other down. Lol. I stayed at home with baby J and grandson J who is 7 and over the wiggles, Ben ten and strikeforce. He tells me he is now into Big Time Rush whatever that is. ha ha. He told me so that I could tell the family for this years Birthday which is not until September. Ho ho. I finished that cardi and have now started the jersey for K. makerealbany - 2011-04-23 22:19:00 |
| JUst got back from Blenheim this afternoon, in time to make the most of the great weather and wash some essentials. Had a lovely weekend, it was great seeing mum and dad. It seems it doesn't matter how old you are when you are stressed to the max, it always feels good to have your parents giving you a hug and saying it's going to be ok. I. had a lovely treat by going to the Air Show while we were up there. Totally unplanned so he was over the moon. I have finished the boys' jackets and sewn on all the buttons so hopefully will catch up with them tomorrow. grizzly4 - 2011-04-24 17:17:00 |
| I am so glad you had a nice weekend grizzly. Yes it is nice to get some comfort from your parents. Mum can still surprize me at times and I always feel comforted when I am with her. I miss seeing her this weekend but it was impossible. We had babies, children and easter eggs everywhere today. Had to limit chocolate intake for them all. Lol. I have just finished our ironing and am going to put the last grandson to bed and get on with my knitting. He is 7 and up for a special treat. He has been a good boy most of the time. makerealbany - 2011-04-24 21:36:00 |
| Hope smartgirl is okay. She has not been on for awhile. Most likely flat out. makerealbany - 2011-04-24 21:37:00 |
| Or Suzy59nz, either. Probably busy too, but I miss our weekly shift in the shop. grizzly4 - 2011-04-25 10:47:00 |
| I bet you do grizzly. It is all the normal things that keep us going. The regular routines we have. Everything is settling down after the weekend. T has flown back down South. S and his son C have gone back to Hamilton. C has gone back to Hamilton. S arrives back at the beach from Indonesia tonight so babysitting is not needed up there for awhile. Meantime back at the Alamo M is here with me and her cousin J for a sleepover. She is off on her Holiday programme tomorrow so the place will be quite Lol. J being a boy of 7 is easily amused and entertained. He has 2 younger sisters at home so he will enjoy the peace . Ha ha.Little J is rolling over and chatting away now. He and his Mum are having a break tonight. Just the two of them. I have hidden the eggs so that we ration choc. Wonder why?????? lol. makerealbany - 2011-04-25 22:41:00 |
| Thats why I try finding something different for the boys other than choc. They get so much from all the other relis.Miserable day here yesterday weatherwise and I wasn't on top of my game either when I found out my son's family was too busy for me to drop off their jackets etc. I was gutted but at least my daughter and B2 came for a visit and he loved his. Spent the rest of the day baking comfort food. hehe. I've nearly finished the second cardy for the order of TM so hopefully tonight I will be able to start something new. Now what will I choose...... grizzly4 - 2011-04-26 05:48:00 |
| I would have been gutted as well grizzly. Miss M is sleeping over tonight and her cousin is in the house with his Aunty. M is fast asleep after her day at Preschool. Silence is golden Ha ha. I have K's jacket I am knitting so will get on to that in a mo. Lousy weather here too. Might just catch a movie and put my feet up. makerealbany - 2011-04-26 19:43:00 |
| Gosh that's early for you to be resting for the evening! Well done. grizzly4 - 2011-04-27 06:01:00 |
| No wonder my grandson texted me to ring him after 10. I rang and he just chatted about his latest job interviews but did not tell me about the after shock. I guess he doesn't want to worry me. Lucky for me I have my special network. Lol. I am off to buy a scanner this morning and then we are taking the little angels and demons to Chipmunks to watch all the other Nanas, Pas, Mums and Dads, etc. Ho ho. The kids are sick of the wet weather. They need to vent!!!!!!! makerealbany - 2011-04-27 10:11:00 |
| It's hard for our lot on the holiday programme with so many of our usual trips out are not possible e.g they are having to go to the same swimming pool all the time ' cos the others are closed. All you need is wet weather to make it really difficult. grizzly4 - 2011-04-27 17:50:00 |
| Wow knitting prem size bootees is fast after doing jerseys for a 2 yr old! Found lots of patterns I haven't tried yet on TM so have been buying up large as well.Time to start using up the wool that's stashed away. grizzly4 - 2011-04-28 06:02:00 |
| Yrs the wet weather is playing havoc with my internet connection as well. I am going to get a service guy to check it all as it is driving me nuts. We have a funding application that 3 of us are working on tonight as the closing date is tomorrow. Long night ahead lol. makerealbany - 2011-04-28 19:31:00 |
| Yes Grizzly that 4.1 aftershock was a funny, shaking and then started rolling, didn't seem to stop here, just kept going but just changed. i just love living near the epicentre....not..............- suzy59nz - 2011-04-28 20:47:00 |
| memo to ones self, " remember to proof read before hitting enter" suzy59nz - 2011-04-28 20:49:00 |
| Hi suzy good to hear from you. Hope you are all as okay as you can be with all the drama going on. I think I have it tough? Not like you guys!!!! I shudder when I read your posts. There are only two of us working now on this proposal and we are nearly brain dead. Begger this for a nights work. makerealbany - 2011-04-29 00:03:00 |
| Well that is it I am now off to bed. Phew!!!!! makerealbany - 2011-04-29 03:05:00 |
| Good grief! That's above and beyond, don't you think, makerealbany? I've been working on funding applications at work and for the shop for the last week. It must be the time of the year. Last day of work today for a week, hooray. I. is off too so guaranteed we won't be up at this hour next week. Trying to find a nice single story motel in Dunedin for a night so I can visit the Butterfly sanctuary but computer is getting slower and slower. grizzly4 - 2011-04-29 05:55:00 |
| Hi girls, I am sorry I have kept meaning to come on at a reasonable hour but my clock is way out plus since I was here I have had 2 lots of both antiobotics and prendersone, I have had dreadful asthma and it just would not go away. I have also had heaps of orders and that has kept me occupied as well. I will make an effort to catch up especially now I see makereal was on here at 3 one day. smartgirl - 2011-04-29 06:25:00 |
| Yes grizzly it was and now I am aching all over. darn it. My gosh some of those applications require so much it is worse than writting a 5000 word essay for my Uni degree. I thought I was stressed way back then. Lol. Yes you have a good sleep in girl to make up for the early starts. I automatically woke up early this morning after all that!!!!!!!! makerealbany - 2011-04-29 23:15:00 |
