twi, I mean a swap, there is no way I would want a swab. Lab talk is creeping in.
Have just rinsed my last lot of fabric and I have blue hands, dye crept into my gloves, bugger, mind you not as bad as when I knocked over a punnet full of dye, went down the cupboard, dishwasher and boy does is splat over the floor, yes dark blue, all cleaned up and hopefully no traces left to find later.

Good morning, love the quilt Coalie, it is stunning.
Skippie the volours are amazing.
I have been on a lull with sewing, done some knitting for hospital but have now picked up my cross stitch and enjoying it.

Morning all, frosty here in the Bay. Windmills flapped in the earlky hours of the morning to keep the frost of the blossom. Hawkes Bay is looking beautiful at the moment with the blossom and the spring green in the trees.
The Blossom Parade is this Saturday to herald in the new season.
The usual, work for me today, so help yourself to breakfast. Have a fun day, I know Jumbo will,she has dyed some gorgeous fabrics.

im here, we have sunshine too but clouding up a bit, cool breeze still snow on the hills but sun is lubberly and warm.

Hi ladies. I am making my first quilt. Have decided what I want to do and have chosen my fabric. I have yet to buy the batting. Please can you give me some advise on what batting is best and what is a reasonable price. It would also be great if you could tell me where is a good place to buy it. I am in Manukau so Manukau/Botany area would be great. TIA.

Mich, you have to consider who the quilt is for, will it get washed a lot if it's a child's quilt and how will it be quilted, by machine of hand.
Some battings have to quilted more then others. I am not familiar with the area you live in as to where to buy your batting, a quilt shop is a good place to start as they can explain the for and against.

there is one lady in here who is from around that area in here, she may be in later. ooh your first quilt, have you been told how addictive quilting is ? unless your quilt is a raggie or some other kind that you use batting as you go then you dont need the batting until the top is finished. what pattern are you making ?

Thanks Skippie1 and Coalrange1. Yes it is exciting to be making my first quiilt. Bought the machine and other bits and bobs and then started buying material......oh boy! I now have loads of material and have to stop myself from overdoing it, lol!

I think it is a quilt that will only need batting when the top is finished. (Like I said, only just starting out but google has been great). Not going to follow a pattern at this point. I bought a panel with big squares of different kinds of ladies. This is the auction number 511328287. I thought that perhaps this would be a nice starter project.

Lol, I hear you. That is why I love the panel. It shows all the different kids of woman and they are all beautiful.....it is like a celebration on woman :) I will definately let you know how it is going. Lovely chatting to you

washing machine broke, hubby and i dragged it out on verandah and yup same as always a nail out of his pocket had stopped it working lol, he said it was a quilting needle haha yeah right.
