Are you a modern cloth nappy maker deadfall?
Have you found the crayons now Coalie, have you tried the fridge or the washing basket - amazing how many times I find my car keys in the peg bag!
I notice that Coalie and Jumbo did not mention putting any men on the ark...that suits me just fine lol!

35556

Nah, havn't gotten into selling nappies although I do make them for my girls.
Just baby bits and piece, bibs, wheatbags, toys, skirts etc

35557

Wow coalie...that looks great and I have to say there are some pretty cool grave rubbings...Home sweet home could be one of them!!
Mmmmm 29 yards of lovely soft fabric to stroke and smell and rub your nose in. Heaven!!

jumbo, stay out of that fabric, you know you get addicted. But deadfall that is one heck of a lot. Didn't know that the South Island had a birth growth. Jokes aside, nice to see you here and we like to see some pics of the items that you make. Dilli as for the coffee, that was me, couldn't wait and that mug was just standing there and said, drink me, so I did.
Do you girls know that Spotlight has 30% of crafts and fabrics etc today, they are open till 8pm, now that will get you all salivating.

Well yea, but it made more sense to get that amount shipping wise, and about 6 yards is for pre ordered xmas pillow cases.. haha listen to me trying to justify it!

Now, who can give me advice on embroidery machines? I want the brother pe500... because its cheap lolbut also looks good

coalie, just catching up on your photos of the dolls & the clothes, they are fabulous & love the free motion stitching. Didn't know that you were into grave rubbings! Do you wait for the full moon nights?

deadfall, if you are serious about an embroidery machine, don't buy cheap, cheap. Check out the net to get feed back on the different types. I'm Bernina 180 through & through.

Love the table runner, wow!

This one I can get for $299 usd down from $599 usd, with conversion, shipping and import tax (stupid tax) its $560nzd.
My aim is to use it till Ive made enough profit to onsell it and buy a better one

35565

I'm with b on machines. Try them out, check up on followup in case of peoblems and listen to them. It sounds silly but I reckon if a machine sounds rough it probably is!
B...LOVE LOVE LOVE the quilting on the table runner...clever OLD you!!
Well I went to Spotlight and spent just over $50. Shhh. Don't tell anyone. Three metres of fabric, a watercolour pad, some pens and a bag.
Whatcha been up to?

jumbobon - 2012-08-13 18:20:00
35566

B, Gorgeous Xmas runner, love it, esp the free form quilting.
Deadfall, go and check the machines out in the shop and look at the quality of embroidery that you end up with, also ease of use. Then of course how much is it to buy the patterns, do you need to use your own computer to talk to the machine, is your computer brain big enough to cope with the system you are looking at. I am also a Bernina girl and have the Aurora 440. Heaps to learn and I don't use it as much as I thought. But then it might still come.

skippie1 - 2012-08-13 18:41:00
35567

jumbo less of the OLD remember I'm 65 yrs young.......lol I am very pleased with the quilting & wish I had a few more UFOs finished so that while I'm on a roll with free motion I could keep praticing.

bhs47 - 2012-08-13 18:42:00
35568

Uh hum, I also went to Spotlight and must say I nearly spend double then what jumbo did, but in my defence I bought a little pair of scissors and they were expensive, I hope that is a good enough excuse.

Been thinking over your thread & the others can correct me if I'm wrong. Have you checked the wattage on this machine? Will it work with the NZ electrical code & if not what would it cost to convert it?
A good reasonable priced embroidery machine can be found right here on TradeMe, just a case of keeping an eye on the auctions. Good luck with whatever buy.

Not guilty your Honour, I only went to Spotlight once, today. As said before, jumbo has a fabric addiction, she just can't help herself. But in hindsight I do know why she went back, she must have bought the shop empty. Hehehehehe.
