1963 Health Flaw? Hi Everyone. I have a 1963 3d Health stamp that appears to have a flaw by way of a red dot on Prince Andrew shirt, to his right of the buttons. Can anyone give me any info about this? Thanks.

Can't see that one listed stak Listed flaws are...Bloodstained finger,Bloodstained finger partially removed.
If you can put up a link to a photo it would be interesting to see if it can be located on a full sheet or if it is just a one off ink blob.

301,302 1963 Health Flaw? I don't know how to put up a link to a photo but I have your e-mail address Willy so will send an image to you now.

An interesting error there stak Not listed as a Constant Positional Flaw so I guess is not one of those flaws found on the same stamp of each sheet. However it does look like some sort of random ink error. Best you run it by donaldo and hope he can tell us what it is.I don't know how to load an image here either so maybe donaldo can do that too, then others can share in the debate.

1963 Health Thank you for the information on this stamp. I think that I will probably end up listing it on Trademe as it's not an area that I collect, though it's always fun when you come across something a bit different.

1963 Health Flaw / Error OK, I have given it a try and here is the photo of the stamp in question. (see link below). Thanks so much nicky12455. This is going to be really useful when discussing particular stamps.

Thanks Nicky Yes a worthy skill.
re the flaw I don't think I have seen such a flaw offered before.

not permanent re the flaw I don't think I have seen such a flaw offered before ie I don't think it is permanent

warm3 - 2008-01-15 00:12:00
313

more permanent. How many times does a flaw have to occur for it to be 'permanent'. Apart from the obvious all the time [like the Boer war R2/12]] Here is an example of the same stamp that has had some foreign matter???[I guess] on the plate. [http://images.trademe.co.nz/p-
hotoserver/69/58123569_full.jp-
g] and a close up [http://images.trademe.co.nz/p-
hotoserver/68/58123868_full.jp-
g]. Since there are 2 of them they must now have a greater value. Anyway the other one could have just been a smudge. Has anyone seen any 'confetti' flaws lately???

warm3 - 2008-01-15 12:32:00
314

warm We really need someone like poster #143 rolyrj to explain such things.
He specializes in Re entries and Plate touch ups.
I thought that an error was usually repetitive on each sheet due to a flaw on the plate rather than as singles due to a one off ink splodge.
Hopefully someone knows.....

Flaws? CP lists only what it wants to in the way of Flaws and Postage stamps of NZ isn't up to date as well.I believe a lot of flaws (trash on printing plates etc)go in runs that is to say they are consistent in 100? sheets or so .I have may examples of these but are not cataloged.Perhaps one day some one will put all of them together into a catalogue as is is a very interesting subject.I don't collect them but enjoy finding and identifying them.

316 Flaws That is what makes the pre decimal printings so interesting, more primitive printing processes ,more flaws.Sometimes I think it is harder to find a Perfect stamp than a stamp with a printing flaw and then we have shades ,Perfs ,Papers,Watermarks,Mesh etc.The modern stamps don't have a lot of these features and I find them quite boring but in saying that every one to his own.Regards Paul.PS Don thanks for the Auction catalog's .

1969 Lighthouse Flaw? Hi All, Another interesting item I have come across is this 1969 Lighthouse stamp that has been labelled 'Evening Star' with a arrow pointing to a flaw or error. The stamp below is normal. Can anyone tell me anything about it please? Please see the photo.

Where to find Stamp tweezers? Does anyone know where I can find 150mm stamp tweezers?. Preferably straight end, round tip (or pointed tip). I've done a search online, Campbell Paterson only has the 120mm range. I found since I lost mine when I was a leader at Stamp Camp a couple of years ago (my bad, didn't label them) I just haven't wanted to sort stamps out with just short tweezers.

328 stamp tweezers The guy on trademe member name philatelic lists those,Premier 152mm tweezers. You could ask a Q & A on one of his auctions.
Your local stamp dealer or stamp fair should sell tweezers though.

STAMP FAIR sweet rhianna, I see in the Herald ( section D Page 12)that there is a stamp Fair in Auckland today Sat 19th.
Perhaps you could go to the Freemans Bay community Hall at 54 Hepburn St and look for tweezers at the stamp fair.

reserve prices Just how long will it take some traders to realise that the starting bid should be the reserve price. Just don't bid in auctions if they are trying to milk a competitive situation. I don't mind competitive bidding but it is just a waste of our time if the bid is not going to be accepted anyway. Just a thought.

warm3 - 2008-01-20 23:36:00
333

correct procedure?? I know I like starting bids to be realistic.
Just what is the correct procedure to let TM know that there may have been an error made??

333 Tony if only .I have one of those around here somewhere, start price would be $12 to $15.It would be worth more if they were canceled .Don would be the one to tell you how to notify Trademe. The problem is that a lot of the sellers don't know the Cat value and just pull a price out of the wish basket.Perhaps a friendly comment/question on the auction or direction to this thread?
Regards Paul.

Otago Yes good point. There was a lot of mail posted from that 'small south island town' of 'Otago'. In fact it was that small that it isn't on any map or atlas. Seriously for the new collector a 'crowned Otago" cancel is a fiscal cancel and not genuinely used. Be wary of any trader offering it as genuinely used.

warm3 - 2008-01-22 22:40:00
346

I agree tiadapal & warm That 1898 Mt Cook 5/- with crowned Otago cancel is often accompanied with a "If postally used" valuation.
Sellers do that with the Arms ones used for stamp duties as well.
*Totally understands Tiadapal's wee rant*

1935 Pictorial Official Hi Everyone, In my collection I have this 1935 6d Official with the 'Official' stamp above the harvester instead of the usual below. I have photographed both, with the stamp in question on the left. Please see http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/26/58713326_full.jpg

Can anyone tell me anything about it. Thanks.
