| Hi Girls Congrats Grizzly. I left my daughter and partner to mind my cats and they behaved.ha ha. Yes I can just imagine the Insurance guy,s face when he hears that story. ha ha. Well I had a great weekend came home late last night. Mum had me cleaning and sorting out stuff but every night we went to a different sister's place for tea. Two of them had birthdays SO YUMMY FOOD , however I found it tough at the gym today. makerealbany - 2007-10-24 15:02:00 |
| On the homefront The kids had friends up from Welli for the weekend and they hired a digger and carved banks and drains all weekend. Looks great and they even dug up a large vege garden for me hooray! On the downside there is mud and more mud everywhere and I had to do 6 loads of wash before I could go to the gym ugh. Plus they did not dig out all my plants before they started so I have lost some underneath tons of dirt. They looked so pleased with themselves I did not have the heart to complain. The good thing is I have given so many plants and cuttings to friends and family that I will just do the rounds and salvage my favourites. T makerealbany - 2007-10-24 15:08:00 |
| Thank Heavens We all share things so nothing is ever really lost. Hey smartgirl I feel for you take it slow girl. makerealbany - 2007-10-24 15:10:00 |
| Welcome back, makerealbany and take care of yourself smartgirl. Had a wicked storm here last evening. Didn't last long but was pretty nasty. I had staff training at work so by the time I got home my garden was a bit damaged. Thank goodness for husbands who think to bring washing etc in when they get home first. grizzly4 - 2007-10-25 07:40:00 |
| Give that guy a medal Not many of them think to bring in the washing. Hold on to him grizzly. Storms are all over the country at this time yuk. Hope not too much damage. makerealbany - 2007-10-25 14:16:00 |
| Wool $1 a ball Forgot to tell you grizzly went into Spotlight in Hamilton and got a good stash of wool. All Moda vera is now reduced to $1 a ball. Called into their Rotorua shop and also got cotton for the same price plus loads of Pattons Caressa wool(12 ply) Got enough for a few jerseys for my grandson so was wrapt. Got baby wool in Hamilton but it was not reduced in Rodo. Have to visit Wairau park on Sat to see what they have. makerealbany - 2007-10-25 22:37:00 |
| You are going to have to add on to your cottage if keep buying more wool! grizzly4 - 2007-10-26 07:58:00 |
| Cannot pass up a bargain Some of that Paton's wool was $8 a ball normal price so for a $1 my hands just itched to buy that wool. I have been thinking of taking doors off and old wardrobe and putting shelves in it for the extra wool. ha ha. I DO NEED A SHED THOUGH JUST FOR ME. Won't get that till next year which is not that far off. makerealbany - 2007-10-26 09:56:00 |
| What Have I knitted While I was in rodo visiting two of my sisters for their birthdays saw my latest two grandnieces so I knitted both of them a little poncho and matching hat with that Moda vera feathers type wool and Parade. Took no time at all. Knitted a Ostrich scarf for one sis. On size 15 needles. Only uses 4 balls and did it in one night. Remember I stay up late ha ha. It is a scarf and if you drop it the other way a shawl. Now I am knitting another one for my youngest sis who cannot knit because of health probelms. I am doing hers in Seans Sheep Spike. She wanted black and this is similar to Ostrich. Got this last year at Warehouse sale FOR $1. Not as nice a feel as Ostrich though. Also knitted a pink bonnet, bootees and mitts for another grandniece who is 3 months. The weather is not good for new babies so changeable. I bet you will be knitting like mad for your expected grandchild grizzly. Isn't it great news!!!! makerealbany - 2007-10-26 10:18:00 |
| It truly is the greatest news! She has a scan on TUesday just to make sure it's not another ectopic pregnancy but she's 10 weeks now and in no pain so I'm feeling pretty confident for her. My son's engagement party was yesterday and it was a lovely family day. Brought 5 month old home with me so they could enjoy their friends and their party last night. grizzly4 - 2007-10-28 09:51:00 |
| So happy for your daughter grizzly One of my daughters has had the same probelm so there is hope yet. Well what a great time it is for your family. There is nothing like a happy family get together. Have a lovely day. makerealbany - 2007-10-28 15:48:00 |
| Hi bll How are you? makerealbany - 2007-10-29 15:10:00 |
| Hi, I'm fine. busy creating, finding a house, a job ... and all the usual mundane stuff. You? bll - 2007-10-30 08:31:00 |
| I am really well Daughter and partner have finished redorating baby's room and it looks lovely. It is so cool to see a bassinet, cot and pram etc. I have been gardening madly during the day, knitting at night and trying to work out a design for two mirrors I am making for the kids chrissy presents in mosaics. Life is busy. Mum coming to stay for a week on Friday. I just visited her so that is neat. Must have enjoyed my visit. makerealbany - 2007-10-30 10:38:00 |
| Moving before xmas and a new job bll I don't envy you. That is really hard!!!! What area are you going to? I talk to all these nice people and no one lives near me. Dash it all. makerealbany - 2007-10-30 10:41:00 |
| we're looking for a place in Palmy Nth. We already have a rental there but don't want to sell it as we have had no probs with tenant (knock on wood). We are renting a school house - which is great for the pocket but doesn't meet our needs for space or heat! Sooo, money is tight, hence me looking for work! bll - 2007-10-30 12:06:00 |
| Daughter had her scan yesterday. Everything ok but only 6 weeks along instead of the 10 we had been told! Looks like she's due in Mid-July.I'm still the only one in family with a birthday at the end of the year! grizzly4 - 2007-10-31 08:41:00 |
| Good luck bll With the job hunting and the house hunting. That is awesome that baby's scan is ok grizzly. Felt a bit grizzly myself this morning. Heard a big bang in the night and the transformer outside our house blew the cables. No power until 8.45. A had to run in and borrow some clothes because she did not iron last night. I DO MY IRONING ONCE A WEEK BUT THE YOUNG IRON AS THEY NEED. Ah well shows the generation gap. Ha ha have a happy day everyone. makerealbany - 2007-10-31 09:06:00 |
| LOL what is this I-ron-ing ?? LMAO can't remember the last time I actually ironed my clothes!! bll - 2007-10-31 10:46:00 |
| oh and thanks, I've got two applications in at the moment and we're taking a second look at a house on friday. Very excited for you grizzly. i hope everything continues to go well. bll - 2007-10-31 10:47:00 |
| Comgratulations grizzly It is so exciting. Still off with back. No felling in my left leg, to go to specialist and maybe ct scan. Im just impatient smartgirl - 2007-10-31 12:28:00 |
| Hi smartgirl OUCH sorry about your back girl. Know how that feels. If there is pressure because of a disc a scan will identify it. Hope it is on ACC girl my scan cost $1000 and that was years ago . I couldn't wait for b------ACC cause I was in so much pain and had a business to run etc, etc. One thing I know you cannot rush things with our health system. Went private in the end. Probally why I am so broke now ha ha. Relax girl and think of nicer things. Isn't the weather great? makerealbany - 2007-10-31 15:31:00 |
| You've got a big week ahead of you, bll! Good luck with the jobs and the house. Thanks, guys, for the well wishes. I'm not that young but I certainly had enough ironing in past years when hubby was in the air-force although he did do a fair amount of his own. Also had a daughter who loved pretty dresses that always needed ironing, probably why I hate it now and these days so many fabrics don't need it if hung properly when wet.I can't remember the last time iron was out either! grizzly4 - 2007-11-01 09:03:00 |
| Me and my Ironing I think it is a behaviour pattern I developed in childhood and automatically do. I don't iron everything though. When I was in my twenties and thirties I used to iron the sheets and teatowels. Dropped that in the forties ha ha. Talk about the Airforce grizzly I have a son who is a Wing Commander in the airforce. When he was a cadet he wouldn't let me iron his uniform. Did it himself. Said I didn't get the creases in the shirts right. LOL. makerealbany - 2007-11-01 20:37:00 |
| My Son Who was in the army said the same thing. Well it was less ironing. In my fifties I always tried to purchase clothes I could wash and wear but now that I have jumped to the sixties I am still starching and ironing doiles. Ah Well. New mall 2nd stage opened down the road at Albany today. Went to the gym and passed all the crazy shoppers going to the Mall. makerealbany - 2007-11-01 20:42:00 |
| I hate ironing and hang what I can on coat hangers so I only have minimum ironing. But I love ironing when I am quilting cause you a creating something and you get such a good look. Has anyone had experience with acpunture???? smartgirl - 2007-11-02 08:47:00 |
| Too many needles for me! Sorry. grizzly4 - 2007-11-02 09:02:00 |
| Hi grizzly that was what I was thinking but if it works I am keen to try anything smartgirl - 2007-11-02 09:20:00 |
| Acupuncture Yes before I had surgery for two prolapsed dics. Did not work for me in fact I gave it up after a blood vessel burst. If the disc is jagged or crushed it won't help. I did a lot of research before I had Acupuncture but until my scan was unaware it was so bad. The fact that I was in agony should have been a clue but I have a high pain tolerance level. When I couln't feel a thing below my waist I realized I needed a scan. If it is not mechanical acupuncture will help. Just keep hounding your GP AND LET THEM KNOW HOW BAD IT IS. makerealbany - 2007-11-02 13:32:00 |
| Physiotherapy Same for this. Works for some people but dependant on the injury. Only makes me worse. Also tried Osteopath and Chiropracter also had detremental effect. makerealbany - 2007-11-02 13:35:00 |
| You have to wonder about the medical practice, don't you. Huge cost and lots of guess work. grizzly4 - 2007-11-03 09:25:00 |
| So true grizzly Besides that you have Pharmaceutical companies telling all the GPs about their new wonderful approved drugs( which of course have been tested but on who and for how long). I went through 4 GPs until I found actually listened to me when I stated that because of certain research I felt that certain drugs would be more harmful to me. It is a balancing act to manange one's health but it is easier if you can make an informed choice and lets face it GPs cannot possibly keep up with all the latest research on the drugs they are prescibing. It is like mixing a cocktail. makerealbany - 2007-11-03 23:02:00 |
| Until I found one(sorry) I get on really well with my Doc because we can argue logically about the pros and cons of certain things. I know what I need and he knows that if I don't think I need it for whatever reason I won't take it. Suits me fine. We both know where we stand. Years of guesswork by others got me nowhere. To a happier note my sister loves her scarf and Mum is here. Picked her up today in Hamilton as well as dropping grandson 13 off to his older brother for the weekend and picking up grandson 18 to drop at his Dads in Remuera. makerealbany - 2007-11-03 23:11:00 |
| Those darn fireworks The cats are under the bed and the dogs are way back in their run hiding in their kennels. I THINK THEY SHOULD BE BANNED EXCEPT FOR PUBLIC SHOWS. They should stop selling then to the public. Honestly cars go up the road and the idiots throw bangers into letterboxes. One idiot was throwing skyrockets out of his car. Admittedly my grandchildren love to watch the night shows and they are very pretty displays but the rest of it leaves me cold. Ok rant over I am going to have a cup of tea everyone else here is sleeping like babies. makerealbany - 2007-11-03 23:43:00 |
| I hear you! Why is the government so resistant to change a law completely because of the power of retailers! They are almost powerless to prevent the harming of our children in other ways and yet this is one thing they can stop now! grizzly4 - 2007-11-04 09:46:00 |
| Bet it will go on again tonight Darn fireworks. Plus all that money up in smoke. Yes money talks especially in government. Spend millions on Domestic Violence programmes and an MP lashes out in public and gets a Demotion!!!! Double standards no wonder our kids get confused. It is not okay(their ad)!!!!!Not only do children get badly burnt with fireworks but how many of them missout on a decent meal that night? makerealbany - 2007-11-04 16:15:00 |
| Exactly! There were a few last night but I think tonight will be the worst. I couldn't believe the number of people buying the $200 container from the Warehouse yesterday. grizzly4 - 2007-11-05 07:49:00 |
| Afternoon ladies I have just had my first acupunture session (Im terrified of needles) and it all went well. Was hoping for a miracle and that I would be healed when I got off the table, but that did not happen LOL smartgirl - 2007-11-05 13:24:00 |
| Good on you smartgirl Probably hopefully notice improvement after a few sessions. Worked for a mate of mine. She used it to lose weight. makerealbany - 2007-11-05 14:18:00 |
| $200 That is so crazy grizzly. Well I think a petition has already started here so I will sign as soon as I see it. Mum wants to go to the new mall so I must be off. Have a nice day girls. makerealbany - 2007-11-05 14:20:00 |
| Well done Smartgirl! Hope it works for you. grizzly4 - 2007-11-05 17:37:00 |
| Me too I am so over a numb foot smartgirl - 2007-11-05 20:32:00 |
| More powercuts We had another one last night. Had more powercuts up here at paremoremo than anywhere else ever. makerealbany - 2007-11-06 09:46:00 |
| My gosh thats terrible in this day & age! How can you possibly get through your store of wool if the power keeps going off? grizzly4 - 2007-11-06 17:45:00 |
| No Probelm Always have knitting in the car. Ha Ha. Usually have a couple of projects going at a time. Although I have been cutting tiles for paving stones today as well as trying to match up a pattern for a mosaic mirror for a xmas pressie. makerealbany - 2007-11-06 21:51:00 |
| How are you feeling smartgirl? Numbness wearing off yet? makerealbany - 2007-11-06 21:53:00 |
| Thanks for asking I wish it was I must admit I did enjoy the acpunture and I hate needles. Have been doing some patchwork, a table runner for dil. I have a friend up your way. He used to own a transport business. Very lovely man smartgirl - 2007-11-06 22:42:00 |
| Hi Zoe It's been awhile. You ok? grizzly4 - 2007-11-07 08:46:00 |
| Hi smartgirl We never seem to have enough time to do everything we want to. I was looking at material I have for a patchwork quilt for my grandaughter but we have heaps of things we have made for the other babies and she won't need another quilt so will wait for next baby. ha ha. Your friend sounds nice. I think I have forgotten what fun it is to socialise with someone outside the family.ha ha. Takes time for anything to work girl. When is your next acupuncture session? makerealbany - 2007-11-07 11:30:00 |
| Yes grizzly Have not heard from you for ages Zoe? What about you woolshed what are you doing? Bll how is the job and house hunting going? makerealbany - 2007-11-07 11:33:00 |
