| I did suggest people contact me on my first auction actually. I agree with kob that we don't want to lose it. I will try and think of a different way as I don't have anything listed just now. Will put some more stuff on at the weekend. If there are lots of requests on one auction, wait till it closes and another one is first. wayneandjudith - 2008-02-22 00:41:00 |

| saving money regardless of how little, is gr8 in anyway shape or form......Not buying biscuits for 1 week a month and making a roasting dish full of cake will save you $10...thats $120 a year if kept up each week....not having takeaways 1 week a month will sav $20 per month thats $240 per year.Walking to work if you can or car pooling will save you heaps say you normally spend $60 per week on gas and you startcar pooling offer $20 per week to a friend and your still up $40 per week, share it each fortnight and your still up $80 per month by only taking your car 2 weeks out of the month and when you do your friend pays you the $20 per week, if you really plan things there are cost saving tips in everything we do!!! kob - 2008-02-24 07:59:00 |
| Happy weekend budgeting everyone try makinghome made takeways this weekend and put that $20 in your piggy bank for the xmas holidays, the list is as long as your iagination.Pizza, hotdogs & chips, fish & chips, butter chicken, chinese what ever takes your fancy just do it from home and see the pennies rise kob - 2008-02-24 08:02:00 |
| hi all! a wee trick i have learnt when doing jam etc, is to use marbles in the bottom of the pot, and that way it keeps the mixture moving, so less likely to stick to the bottom. have a brill day all! timetable - 2008-02-24 08:36:00 |

| so who still has there $20 note in their back pock pocket, instead of buying takeways......this is a great practise kob - 2008-02-25 07:20:00 |
| Kob's Washing Powder I remember reading a thread a couple of weeks ago that had a version of Kob's washing powder, but for making up in smaller quantities. And wouldn't you know it, now that I need it I can't find it. Can anyone help??? mothergoose4 - 2008-02-25 22:13:00 |
| Kobs laundrey cleaner 4 Mothergoose The smaller volume 2 litre version of the recipe is: about half fill a two litre container with very hot water. Add (funnel, can be made of paper) 1 level dessertspoon (10ml) lux flakes, and 2 levelish tbsp (30ml total) of washing soda. Turn up and down to mix, fill with hot water, and turn a few more times as it cools. When cool, turn again couple of times. Use 1 cup per load of washing. Use: Fine in cold water. To make sure dissolves completely, run cold water into EMPTY machine, and when there are couple inches water in the bottom, add 1c of mix and swish about with hand or wooden spoon or whatever. Once a bit more water in the machine, fire in clothes and continue. Works as well as commercial powder, costs virtually nothing, and nonirritating and no polluting detergents. Thanks Kob! tumbleweeds2011 - 2008-02-26 06:31:00 |
| washing powder Thanks tumbleweeds. That was exactly what I was after. mothergoose4 - 2008-02-26 12:44:00 |

| Kob Where do you live that takeaways cost $20? For the four of us, it's about $25! And we're not big eaters, it's just that everything is SO expensive now! julzk - 2008-02-26 13:12:00 |
| Help please What meals do you make that will last two nights, and anyone with any yummy budgets meals to feed a family of 5 please post here, thanks. dinkydi5 - 2008-02-26 13:51:00 |
| probably a dumb question... ... but would like to make Kob's washing liquid - but what's washing soda? Can you buy it from PnS?? Can it be used for anything else? Thanks... nunesy - 2008-02-26 14:50:00 |
| Nunesy - washing soda You can get from the supermarket, usually stocked around Nappysan etc, in a plastic tub - though I had to go to 3 supermarkets before I found some. I now get mine from Bin Inn, I found its cheaper there. tumbleweeds2011 - 2008-02-26 14:55:00 |
| Thanks tumbleweeds... I love Binn Inn, always get distracted by the herbs and spices section. nunesy - 2008-02-26 14:58:00 |

| Nunesy When you go to get your washing soda (if at Bin Inn) they have print outs of other uses for it, as well as vinegar, baking soda, Epsom salts etc. I did get one but not sure what I did with it - if you can't get one there I can hunt mine down and list what it says. Its a good stain remover instead of Nappysan etc. tumbleweeds2011 - 2008-02-26 19:40:00 |
| julzk our takeaways do only cost $20 but we can get 3 varieties. kob - 2008-02-27 06:45:00 |
| Window cleaner recipe This works really well for cleaning windows Mix 4 tbsp cornflour (yes, cornflour) to a paste with a little water. Put in spray bottle and 1/2 fill with warm water. Spray onto windows and wipe with a cloth and then dry with a soft cloth eg, I use an old facecloth. Windows really shine and gleam when done and no smears...........so simple! jellyjody - 2008-02-27 10:39:00 |
| I like that recipe no nasty chemicals and a fantastic budget tip. I just need to clean my windows now malcovy - 2008-02-27 11:09:00 |
| A word about butter It was funny at work today when the 20 somethings were complaining about the price of butter. There are only 3 of us at work that have kids, and it was refreshing to see that the 'dinkys' are noticing how expensive things are. It must be getting bad! julzk - 2008-02-27 18:27:00 |
