Had me fooled just for a second ,but it is in the right category and has been described properly. I don't think anything misleading has been done.

It is in the right category but it's certainly not the 5/- 1898 Pictorial as I think the bidders thought it was.
$30 for a stamp worth about $3 isn't a bad sale.

I am hoping for some information on sets of stamps I have from the 1950s early 60s. All are in excellent condition and were purchased from Circuit Books during those years. They are all correctly mounted and very carefully postmarked. I wonder if there is any value in these nowdays
This is a description of 3 of the sets.
Set of 7 All different Birds. R.P.Romona / Posta Aeriana. The Names of the indidual Birds. Post Values 10Bani 20Bani, 35Bani, 40Bani. and 3x55Bani. All different.
Sport. Set of 5 1956 Olympics. Magyar Posta. Vertel J.
Post values. 1FT, 20F,30F,40F, 60F
Fish. Set of 12. Maybe 1960. They are all different types of Goldfish. Very Pretty. And I would guess Asian as I cannot read the writing.
Post Values. 8 of them have 8 and the other 4 have 4. However the Fish are all different.
I have a lot of other sets all in the same condition from different countries,
They are all Animals, Sports, Insects, Boats. Butterflys etc.
I would realy appreciate any information regarding if these are of any value. TIA.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. Much appreciated. My Father was a Philatilist for most of his life. He passed in 1970. He bought stamps for me from ciruit book that used to arrive in the post. They were definitely not purchased in packets. It is good to know thar they are not complete sets as I didn't know that. I have treasured them for many years but my chidren are not at all interested so I will put them on Trade Me for other collectors. I also have all my 1st Day Covers and some miniature sheets of health stamps that I will dispose of too. Many thanks again for ypur help. I realy appreciate it. Cheers.

This forum needs a BUMP ...
I have pondered this thought for a couple of years now ...
Does anybody here in NZ know of any plans, or interest in starting, a Bulletin Board - Stamp Chat site similar to Stampboards.com (which is Aussie focussed). I only ask as I believe that there must be enough interest here in NZ for one that would be focussed mainly on NZ stamps (early period would be nice). Perhaps a Philatelic Society could start one and charge a nominal fee for membership for its upkeep. It could be a National Stamp Club forum and would keep interested parties in contact about shared interests. Has this been raised before? Has the RPSNZ thought about this or is it too modern a concept for them? I think that it would keep NZ collecting alive in this country and bring together all of those interested in NZ Philately - no matter where they lived. I don't know, just a thought for discussion.. .. Dave

Stampboards is fine - just start a thread. If there's enough interest it'll survive, if not it won't. Very Darwinian.

Yes. I know that ... I have been a member of that site for 3.5 yrs now. Just wanted to know about an NZ focussed board. But I have found one now that I look into it .... here >> http://nzsgb.boardhost.com/1/
Go take a look if you haven't already. Cheers

the best definition is "as issued".
No attempt to mount the stamp. Undisturbed original gum.

This is the way the rest of the philatelic world understands.

UHM / MUH should really be MNH = Mint never hinged.
If anything of the the stamp is disturbed, either on the front or back then it plainly just MINT
Now there are different grades of MINT this refers most of the time to the gummed side which is rarely shown but should be described properly when offered for sale. Of course a fair price should go with the blemished stamp, depending on the quality of a non perfect MNH stamp.

Any disturbance of Gum renders the stamp MINT.

Mint never hinged also refers to the stamp having original gum.
When the gum is disturbed, whichever way you look at it, it is MINT how inconsequential it would look to some.

Mint stamps depending on condition allows for discounts.

The superb MNH item, especially older material fetch better prices, of course everyone pocket may not be as deep.commandswell centered

>>UHM/MNH with blunt corner
UHM/MNH with toning
UHM/MNH with short perf
UHM/MNH with light pencil id on reverse <<

Such item are not "post office fresh' and are classified as MINT for the pecil mark, the others are damaged.

Who buys damaged stamps from the Post Office to put in his collection ?
