Its true aye 'you can never have too much fabric'

#Post

Nice top Ness, for yourself?
Well here are a few pics I just took, they are antique silk badges, they came with the Turmac cigars when you bought a box, in those days. my sister bought them one by one a long time ago on a Dutch site like Trade Me. I have been wanting to somehow put them into a quilt.
The fabric on the right are all silks that I have bought to go with the badges, to be used a quilting fabric, the fabric underneath is Taffeta (sp).
So now how to assemble and make a quilt. The badges need to be hand stitch one to the fabric.
So thought of making strips with the taffeta and applique the badges on there make the butterflies fly in between the flowers, patch herring bone strips of the coloured silk and alternate the strips to make a top.
Oh gosh hope this makes any sense, have had this sitting here for 10 yrs or more not knowing what to do with it and the light went on when I was falling asleep last night.

Yum pumpkin soup dilli, love it, thanks
Ness, no picture as I have to plan the quilt myself as soon as I have someting one this project pix will follow. But I did go out and bought more silk fabric from Spotligh as I could use again another $40-00 voucher. I had to buy a big reel of white cotton thread to push it over the $100 limit, but it all helps.

skippie1 - 2012-05-22 13:27:00
33855

so how do you get the vouchers from spotlight? I have a VIP card but all i ever get is the occasional discount :( I'd love a voucher

ness315 - 2012-05-22 15:37:00
33856

I was told you can get them in the shop (spotlight) or they can arrive in the mail. I have never received them in the mail but will look out for them in Spotlight next time I go too.

I saw it within the past 18 months so I know I still have it somewhere.....
I hate being disorganised, but I'm not very good at organising my craft stuff. I get started but then I get quickly sidetracked lol

But there were no pics skippie...so where are they?

Have been out to craft group, had a cuppa at skippie's place, had a cuddle with her pussy cat ( one of the 4 ) and am home again. I was asked to work again tomorrow but I declined! I am going again on Thursday and need some time at home to catch up with things...especially stitching. Going to have a wee look on the net before heading off to bed.
See you all in the morning...

Hopefully Mr 9 is back to school tomorrow and then I can scream freedom for 6 hours! I have been doing a bit of sewing and a bit of knitting and lots of nothing too! Found my pattern late last night, only had to search through 3 rooms and almost had to go into the last resort stuff in the garage to find it but I found it. then I kept dreaming of ways to alter the pattern while I was sleeping lol.
but first I must get sons t-shirt made. he picked out the colours he wants and I must admit his choices arent doing it for me but they are his choices to I will do what I can with them.
In the meantime I and going to take a break and try to remember where I saw another pattern I need lol

Been trying to plan my route around the city over the bumpiest roads, through the red zone and around the city centre to show her the changes since the last time she was here. and then theres food....she is gluten free so I have to be aware of everything i plan to cook so i dont make her sick. not to mention not being able to spend the days sewing while she is here...arrrghhhhhhhh!!!!!! *whispers* i have no idea yet where im going to put the fabric stash while she is here

Wee , pleased to read that your family are getting better.
Ohh Holly, nice to read that you got bargains and 'more'. feels good retail therapy.
I worked on my white and blue quilt top today, is coming together very nicely. Work for me the next two days so that will slow the stitching down a bit. Getting cold and we are in for another good frost.
