Its true aye 'you can never have too much fabric'

#Post
33751

All wine tastes like vinegar to me so I won't waste any...Muttley drinks enough of it for both of us!
I have had an awesome day at my course and feel quite rejuvenated and also a tittle bit lired! I love all the things you guys have been up to as well...I love the mystery quilt and runner bhs, and agree with coalie that those fabrics are really beautiful. Another big day tomorrow should see the hanging near to finished.
What you up to tonight?

Lovely fabrics and quilt B, thanks for the wine, I will have a red please. Thanks coallie for the casserole, needed that as it's also very cold here tonight and I think we have a date with jack Frost as well. I finished stitching two borders on a boys quilt today with John Deere tractors in the middle, very cute.Squared of my scrap quilt, looks great must say so myself. Now I am eating my veges.

Dilli, don't worry about Jumbo's new leaf, when I read that I thought Yeh and Pigs might Fly.
Good morning all, sunny here at the mo, still cool out though.. Have things to do but brekkie first, tea is made for those who want one. Have all a great day.

Oh my poor head, don't make sooooooo mcuh noise. I must have had just one too many last night, hope you enjoyed the cellar.
Friend's long arm quilter is a pfaff & no one is getting a play until she has, she has only had it for a couple of months. Unfortunately she is having problems learning to use it as it is not automatic. The cost of the software was another $6K. A tad expensive.

33768

Thank you for comments on the quilt will let you see what it is suppose to look like when I get the coloured instructions.

morning girls. bhs i am super jealous of your friends long arm quilting machine, ever since I saw one on tv years ago i mentally added it to my dream craft room lol. I saw somewhere onliine that there are places in nz that give lessons on how to use the long arm machines, maybe your friend could track one of those down (would be infinitely cheaper than buying the software!)
I finished tarting up my girls old dressing gown for her little brother to use. I appliqued a tardis on the back of it so I hope he likes it.

Cool Tardis Ness, you can always add some more patches to it to make it more a boy gown.
BHS can understand that your friend would like to get used to her machine first. There is another machine Juki that is used for sewing and long arm, but they are not computerised, is all free hand stitching.
Whereas the Gammill that I use, can be freehand or computerised but you are looking at very big dollars.

skippie1 - 2012-05-20 09:41:00
33771

yup Skippie that is the problem, computer software puts things out of reach. If I was to upgrade my embroidery machine Bernina 180 I'd be looking at nearly $20K. Think I might have enought to buy the foot pedal at the moment.

Goodmorning all lovely sunny day here but chilly
love the gown Ness very clever :)
oooh long arm quilters sound way too complicated for me, but love the results. i will stick to stippling ;)
got an idea for next quilt so need to finish this one, almost finished the squares then stitch them together......a few days to go yet.
thanks for brekkie, jugs boiling here .....

Skippie, I upgrated to V5 which I purchased 18mths ago & that was four figures. V6 has a few new features like the Blank canvas. Hate to think what that would cost to upgrade too.
Just been searching the net or using the walking foot (just for the hella of it) & found that there is a new stitch-in-the-ditch attachment for the walking foot. Looks like you will be able to buy it seperately. Going to find out the cost this week.

Daughter just gone and have now pinned the first stage of all the squares (I can only stand for so long and it takes a while to do - so a slow process for me) but I will get there in the end.
washing in folded and put away
Jugs just boiled for nice hot drinks getting chiller again now
Went to Hamilton East market this morning and got me sister some cake tins she was after so that was great but binn in was closed So will have to dive out again tomorra quickly .
Have a great arvo all.

Dilli, i lay the squares out as they are to be sewn on the floor, then pick up each row as they are to be sewn together in order one on top of the other, i safety pin that lot together, then safety pin a piece of paper on numbering which row it is. i do the whole quilt like that and only pin 2 pieces together as i am sewing them or not pin them depending on the size they are.
jugs boiling ......

Lovely quilt and colours Twi,
B I will look at that site later.
dilli, I stitch as coallie does, no pinning until all the blocks are laid out, then I number the rows
Today I decided to machine stitch the binding down on my scrap quilt, anybody interested google Red Pepper Quilts, look under her tutorials and follow from there. But I have stitched from the front, found it easier to keep close to the binding. Pix will follow when it's all done.
Went to see Jumbo in her quilting workshop this arvo, great works were being created by all those ladies.

Ok I am making a diappearing 9 sq one You sew the nine squares together then recut making 4 squares. I have pinned al the rows of 3 squares together now... then will sew them, then join 3 rows of 3 together then recut............ does that makes sense. It is the one I liked from I Lv....
Then I will lay the new squares out as you say to and sew them one full row at a time.
I hope I am doing it right if not it doent matter it will be a unique one then heheheeeeeee

Dilli, you need to cut your 9 patch into 4, before you sew them into rows.
That way you can mix them up and make it all look scrappy. Then you lay the block back in rows, remember to turn the block as well.

Holly, they must have been running thru Spotlight, didn't give you time to look. Did you not make use of the $40-00 discount voucher when you spend $100.00. Got daughter no 1 a large cutting mat as she over the years had cut thru hers, those mats are so expensive that with a young family it's always last on the shopping list. No I didn't buy fabrics either, but went back 1 week later and bought some flannel sheets for ourselves, used another $40-00 voucher.
