I reckon you can never have too much wool either

For me GMS it will take approx. 5 days. My mechanical heart valve will clogg up and its Good Night Nurse ... so to speak lol. I have a packet of Needles wool too GMS. I haven't used it yet. I think Kuaka has used some... So hopefully she will see it. Oh dear Gerry. I wonder if it was anything like the frill I have just knitted. You cast on 8 stitches. First row. Knit 6 turn and knit back, do that twice. Then repeat but going down one stitch at a time. When you have done two rows of knit 2, turn and knit back you knit the full 8 stitches for four rows. I must remember to measure it too , to see how far around it was lol popeye333 - 2014-01-11 17:20:00
So it's working now Gerry. And the number 52 is your attempts to start and get it right to continue? You sure have perseverance. I would have packed an adult tanty and biffed it by now. Don't for get to go to the Knit World sale. I was embarrassed, I bought some wool and told my friend it would look good on a baby coat. Same friend had bought that same wool to knit herself a jersey. Oops! armin59 - 2014-01-11 18:00:00
baby wool is great wool is great for adult jerseys jerseys :) grandmasue1 - 2014-01-11 18:43:00
Armin -52 was an exaggeration just counted my frillier there is only 27 -I. Am hopeless have a drawer full of fizzers and a mountain of wool -that's not an exaggeration -of projects to be started gerry64 - 2014-01-11 19:12:00

back stitching in cross stitch is when you outline the main features of your stitching with a straight stitch. Boring as heck but makes a difference to your finished work and it points out shapes and colour. You are 'supposed' to finish your whole piece of stitching and go back and do the 'back stitching' but as I detest it soooo much (like ribbing in knitting grrrr lol), I do it as I go. Edited to add, I am determined to finish this, it's my oldest DNF as I started it in 2007. Uni, Mum being terminally ill and then MrK becoming ill, more study and work kinda slowed me down for a while. But the damed thing cost a small fortune for the pattern so I am going to finish it! (Keep telling yaself that lol and it might get done...) Edited by kiwimade64 at 7:29 pm, Sat 11 Jan kiwimade64 - 2014-01-11 19:25:00 |
grandmasue, yes, I've used the Needles yarn. It's okay, nice and soft, although sometimes you do come across a bit which hasn't been twisted properly (can't think of the word, but twisted is basically what I mean) and it's all sort of fluffy. I just cut that chunk out. I've used it for blankets and dog jackets but wouldn't use it for baby clothes. Good colour range and good value. kuaka - 2014-01-11 19:26:00
I tried to buy a knitting pattern on Trademe and find that the Trader has Blacklisted me...I am quite perplexed. I don't sell my knitting. grandmasue1 - 2014-01-11 21:03:00

Would you like one of us to buy it for you - I'd offer, only I'm hoping to get away on holiday in the next few days - and we'd be gone by now if we didn't keep finding little problems with the boat (let's just say that she's been neglected too long and she's showing her displeasure!) I've had a hammer and chisel in my hands all day, so no knitting today. kuaka - 2014-01-11 21:09:00 |
It was buy now $7.50 it was actually *armin* who wanted it..and she was mortified to find she was blacklisted so then I tried......thought what a great pattern.....but I too was blacklisted. grandmasue1 - 2014-01-11 21:15:00
Don't worry to much on that grandmasue and armin....I've been blacklisted by a rather large trader here for years, for reasons unknown....and I have just looked at it as a way of saving money!! lol Cos if I hadn't been blacklisted I would have bought heaps off them over the years :-) lol ixcelm8 - 2014-01-11 21:27:00
DNF? It's called plyed or it is when you spin. I think I will find another pattern the same Gsue. I wonder if anyone else here is also black listed. I only wanted to have a go at knitting a Golly for my sister's special birthday. Might make her the pukeko instead she loved the one I made but I gave that to sil for Christmas. armin59 - 2014-01-11 21:28:00

have a look at Aussie Jeans patterns, or Jean Woods, if you google her, she'll come up on ravelry and has her own website. I've bought patterns from her. You pay by credit card and download the pattern immediately - no waiting, and they are very reasonably priced. She has gollys both male and female. kuaka - 2014-01-11 21:56:00
Thanks *kuaka* I wasn't sure how things like that work. lol My mister is snoring and fast a sleep in his chair....his nursey is on strike...she might just throw a blankie over him :) grandmasue1 - 2014-01-11 22:08:00

morning ladies :) Yep, our son has gotten used to the constant temperatures of Wellington lol, came home and froze in the morning and cooked in the afternoon. Weird all right. I have been given half a wine box full of freesia bulbs - yep, half a box. There are hundreds! So today I am going through them to pick out the best ones for my garden edges. I have until March to get them into the ground so have time. Hopefully when spring comes around I will have a lovely border of freesias :). The 'left overs' can be planted along the paddock fenceline. Started the next quarter to the cross stitch, am feeling inspired now lol. Will get the last bit done on this wee cardy for Maddy, for some reason I'm just not happy with it so am putting it off for a bit. Happy knitting :) Edited by kiwimade64 at 8:06 am, Sun 12 Jan kiwimade64 - 2014-01-12 08:05:00
Morning everyone... I don't tend to have UFO or DNF items. Probably cos I have the patience of a saint and don't like being beaten. If Ive only just started something I will pull it undone. But otherwise I stick with things. One thing that I never let beat me is untangling wool, chains etc. I will sit until its sorted. I always work from the inside of a ball of wool, so its probably that, that has taught me to be able to untangle it no matter how long it takes me. I have a cross stitch kit that I was hoping to do. its Bamboo in the picture. I really need to save my pennies and pay someone to do it for me. Now that the eyes don't like close work like that. Ixcelm8 I think I found you and added you this morning. So will om you later and sort that out for you. Have a fab day everyone popeye333 - 2014-01-12 09:14:00
ok, sheer noseyness has gotten the better of me lol... who is the trader? kiwimade64 - 2014-01-12 10:03:00
Probably can't say on here but if you were looking for a knitting pattern for golliwogs you would surely find it. Way too far from the South Island for a pick up too. I would be interested to ascertain whether any other fellow crafters are also black listed. armin59 - 2014-01-12 10:30:00
Armin -I envy your stick ability -I not only have a pile of false starts for my ten stitch -have another great pile of knitted rabbit bits and clothes gerry64 - 2014-01-12 11:16:00
Where are The Blue Mountains other than Australia? armin59 - 2014-01-12 11:43:00
armin...gerry64 lives in Australia lol :-) Lucky sod lives near the Blue Mountains. sigh! lol Mind you...I could go strawberry picking towards Mount Egmont.....not the same though eh? lol ixcelm8 - 2014-01-12 12:32:00
popeye...I have that I must I must untangle the wool mess thing too....I will sit for hours undoing the tangle! lol ixcelm8 - 2014-01-12 12:35:00
I gave a whole bag of wool tangles to a disabled adult making pom-poms for a Christmas tree fundraiser. She was rapt and so was I...I also popped in a few ufo's for her to unravel. grandmasue1 - 2014-01-12 12:57:00
Lol ixcelm8, I just cannot bare to see them sitting in a tangle. Ok so why is my pattern not working lol? Ive undone back to the armhole and hopefully can get it sorted out. Its easy but Im obviously doing something wrong and end up with the twisted pattern too long. So will pick it up again after Ive been here for a while. Now I must have a looky to see if I can find said pattern lol popeye333 - 2014-01-12 13:01:00
**Sighs*** I cant find it... if someone can email or pm me on fb Ill have a nosey. TIA Im thinking James is lovely and bright. Living in the Windy city..Am I right? Edited by popeye333 at 1:15 pm, Sun 12 Jan popeye333 - 2014-01-12 13:06:00

Seems the blacklister has gone lol. I had to undo a few rows to get the front of the cardy to work right lol.. Must learn to read the Instructions properly hahahaha. Finished that now and done another square for the rug. Ill try and get a minimum of 2 a day done plus a part of the cardy. popeye333 - 2014-01-12 16:00:00
I made 20 neck warmers for the great nieces and nephews for Christmas. They were out of sock wool and had 140stitches, 6rows gs, 60 rows ss then another 6 rows gs. Boring as but looked cute. Some of you may have seen them on the facebook thread. I better not put the kids photos up here I suppose. armin59 - 2014-01-12 16:44:00
I am the person you are talking about re the golly listing. The reason for removing the listing was genuine, the person who had a bid was notified by TradeMe, as is always the case. Re blacklists - people are usually added to blacklists for (what seems to the sellers or buyers) very genuine reasons. ___ellajac___ - 2014-01-12 16:58:00
I see, so basically we are none the wiser re the blacklisting. kuaka - 2014-01-12 17:14:00
PAMELA (ellajac)....I am shocked....why am I blacklisted??? ixcelm8 - 2014-01-12 17:20:00
I know this lady VERY well over the years....and considered us as friends....I can only think she maybe blacklists people on this thread??? ...but as for reasons...well... ixcelm8 - 2014-01-12 17:23:00
Oh, so maybe I'm blacklisted too eh? Well, I'm not about to bid to find out, so I guess I'll never know. kuaka - 2014-01-12 17:42:00
ixcelm8 will email you. In a few hours, just tied up here now. ___ellajac___ - 2014-01-12 17:55:00
Most likely any of us in this thread are. I wonder why.. I don't think I have traded with ellajac before.. And destined not to now. Whats up ellajac, why don't you want to sell your items. To a group of women who you can see love our wool etc. nearly 3500 posts about wool., knitting crochet etc, and your worried that perhaps we might make the toys and sell them... Strange very strange popeye333 - 2014-01-12 17:55:00

Why am I black listed ellajac, I have never traded with you, I don't understand. Please would you give me a simple response to my question. How can I have offended you in any way when I have no history with you. Also I would have thought if I had knitted one of your gollies ( not that I will , too hard ) and listed it for sale on Trade Me you would have received a lot of free advertising. I bought a babies cup cake pattern from a lady on Trade Me, I asked if she minded me selling them on here. Her reply was "yes of course but can you please mention where you got the pattern from in your listing. I am a bit asd/ocd and I feel upset that you have black listed me, please will you explain so I don't have to worry. armin59 - 2014-01-12 18:08:00
It is a case of cutting off the nose to spite your face isn't it Armin. I don't want to get angry or irritated about it. I am just flabbergasted that she would blacklist people , for no reason that I can figure out. popeye333 - 2014-01-12 18:13:00
Somewhere I have heard that _ellajac_ spilt her coffee over her patterns . *armin* all is good with me....I was just perplexed that I was blacklisted as in 5 years that has never happened too me. I am such a goody goody that I have never even had a warning so I have been quite amused by the whole thing. I am a wannabe bad girl :) Edited by grandmasue1 at 6:19 pm, Sun 12 Jan grandmasue1 - 2014-01-12 18:18:00
