| Yes you are right about the behaviour of children and teenagers these days grizzly. I cannot believe some of the things I hear them saying just walking past the driveway. Makes you shudder. A lot of them have no respect for adults at all. Some of them do not even respect themselves. Yes it is a very different world to the one I grew up in. makerealbany - 2010-10-31 21:24:00 |
| Really sad, eh? But you sound like you had a great weekend! My Saturday was full on with grandchildren as well. B2 is quite a handful just like his Mum was at the same age!!! Haha. We all had a go at keeping him in timeout but he has more energy than all of us put together. He adores his cousin B5 but is very rough with him. Should be the other way round, I here you saying? And he bullies L3 constantly. I hope he moves past this stage soon.! grizzly4 - 2010-11-01 07:49:00 |
| Goodness me, trying to fit in the less regular things that need to be done is hard these days! I need to get a warrant for my car this week and register it, I need a Doctor's appointment for yet another sinus infection, I need to pick up stuff that I. won off TM and it all needs to fit into the right time etc. You wouldn't think it was that hard with the mechanic and the doctor's surgery across the road from each other, would you? Wrong they can never fit me in at the same time, bother it. THe TM stuff is just around the corner from where I pick up the children from the other school for our programme, easy. No, my boss has decided to trial a new car from work this afternoon in completely the opposite direction!!!!!GRrrr. Oh well, tomorrow is another day....... except that suzy59nz and I are going punting on the Avon river tomorrow with the Women's Group. You know what the problem is, don't you, we have said it before, I would have so much more time to get things done if I didn't have to go to work!!!!Hehe. grizzly4 - 2010-11-02 08:28:00 |
| Now now grizzly!!! That does not work. I have even less time now than when I did work full time. At lest then I could say Sorry I have to go to work. Had 2 really full on days. Baby J has colic really badly and so his Mum is a wreck. Could not take M to Playgroup today because he woke her up in the night and so she was up again at 4. We put her back to bed at 6. Up at 8 and we put her back until 10.30. She was so tired and cranky. After the unsettled day she was back in bed at 7 tonight. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for us all. makerealbany - 2010-11-02 23:04:00 |
| Colic is really hard to cope with for the family, isn't it? I'm sorry they are going through that. grizzly4 - 2010-11-03 07:54:00 |
| I just finished a report for our group and after a long day I am off to bed. J was the same today. Poor little darling. He also has blocked tearducts. Managed to take M to Mainly music, the Library and the park. This takes me back years worrying about bubs but I was a lot younger then Lol. It is very tiring when you feel so darn useless. S put locks on all the ranchsliders up high so M cannot get out she is rather a little Houdini at times. lol. makerealbany - 2010-11-04 00:36:00 |
| So is our B2, It's a real pain when someone else arrives and can't get in because we do the same to our ranchsliders! He figured out how to undo the front gates in 5 mins flat, little toad! grizzly4 - 2010-11-04 09:33:00 |
| My oldest daughter had colic, it is awfull, they pull their little legs up with the pain, i was told not to feed her again while she was having an attack but sucking was the only thing that helped so on to the boob i would put her and eventually she would fall asleep for a while. It stopped at 3 months on the dot, they do call it 3 month colic and boy were they right.Second one was just a projectile vomiter, no colic than goodness, must be nice to have a "normal" baby. suzy59nz - 2010-11-04 17:35:00 |
| Brrrr a bit chilly this morning after yesterdays heat!Better warm up again before tomorrow 'cos suzy and I are doing the garage sale at the shop to raise some extra funds. The things we do in our spare time!! grizzly4 - 2010-11-05 07:21:00 |
| Yes and i woke up this morning full of cold, got sent home from work at 1.30pm. Please be sunny tomorrow. suzy59nz - 2010-11-05 16:54:00 |
| Yes grizzly I take the key with me when I go across the driveway to the house so I can get in lol. Had M stay last night. What fun we had ,not, lol. I had to end up putting on her Fairy Lights( FIBRE OPTIC TREE ABOUT A FOOT HIGH WITH CRYSTALS HANGING FROM IT) in the bedroom so she finally settled down. The bl--dy neighbours were letting off fireworks and they still are, even now and it is 12.20. makerealbany - 2010-11-06 00:19:00 |
| Suzy we took baby to get some drops for his colic today and he was a bit more settled which simply means he did not cry non.stop. Sigh. They reckon he will get better in time as you say. Poor daughter has very sore breasts but enjoyed the night without little Miss waking her up too. She slept thru the night but woke me at 7. She wakes her Mum at 5 every morning. Told me it was Pancake Friday so we had to cook our pancakes. Mum does every friday. Daughter brought little J over for breakfast. He is starting to smile now and knows my voise tee hee. Makes it all worthwhile. makerealbany - 2010-11-06 00:25:00 |
| I have decided to support a Ban on all fireworks sold. I will only support licensed Public firework displays. Mind you if I had a rocket I most likely would direct it to the lousy neighbours at this moment. Some of the fireworks are like darn cannons. grrr makerealbany - 2010-11-06 00:27:00 |
| I agree!!! Haven't slept well for ages and last night was excellent till neighbours let off their canons at midnight (yes in the rain!!!). Just got to sleep again when another earthquake woke me. It was the first I had felt for a week so gave me a hell of a fright and took ages to go back to sleep. Just read that Suzy isn't well but it's a bit early to ring her to find out if she's well enough for this garage sale. It's pouring again and only supposed to be 13 degrees. grizzly4 - 2010-11-06 08:08:00 |
| Well, would you believe, sold $15 at the garage sale???? Ah well, brought some of the better stuff home to list on TM, see if that helps. All the wee boys were here yesterday once I got home. Having a dreadful time with B2 biting the others. I always thought this was due to frustration but yesterday he was fine one minute then bent down and bit B5's foot. They were both standing at the time so it was a conscious act to get down on the floor to do it! Any ideas, ladies, and I would prefer not to hear "bite back", please. grizzly4 - 2010-11-07 10:58:00 |
| ooooooooooo naughty boy, just time out and a firm NO, remove him from what the others are doing so that he has to sit and watch the fun, see if that helps, used to help with my Barnardos children. I am feeling so much better today, went to bed at 8pm friday night, and didn't get up till after lunch on Saturday, then back to bed at 9pm Saturday and lay awake listening to the "canons " going off, the next door didn't start letting them off till 10.30 pm, so much for going to bed early. suzy59nz - 2010-11-07 19:49:00 |
| Tried all that you have suggested with B2! We are consistent but he continually walks away from timeout. He apologises, then grins and bites again, would you believe it? He really beats up on L3 who is about the same size, snatching his toys, pulling his hair and pushing him over. L3 thinks of B2 as still being the baby, I think so doesn't push back at all but he really does need to stand up for himself as well. grizzly4 - 2010-11-08 08:00:00 |
| Well grizzly we are having probelmswith Miss M. She has been so naughty at home. No probelm with her behaviour at any of the daily events like Playgroup, Mainly Music or dancing but she yelled all the way through the warehouse for a pair of shoes. She has enough shoes so her Mum said no. She put on a real emmy performance. Back home she slapped me when I was giving her lunch. Time out is not working here either. She is gentle with Baby but honestly I am worn out with her. If she is occupied all day we have no probelm so we are going to get her into Preschool. She is so used to being the centre of the Universe it is taking time to adapt. Bubs is still having colic probelms and it is a worry. Maybe she will better attending preschool. Our friend who operates a creche said she needs to go. She had the same probelm with her little girl when the 2nd baby arrived. Don't know what I can say to help you grizzly given our probelm. Lol. Hopefully things will improve for you and us. makerealbany - 2010-11-08 23:06:00 |
| I'm hoping it's all just developmental and as long as we stay consistent things will improve. I have been saying to my daughter that B2 needs to go to preschool as well. He is in homebased childcare and is now the eldest child there so has real stimulation. He's also not learning how to socialise with his own age group. grizzly4 - 2010-11-09 08:39:00 |
| It must be the time of the year. My 2 are like feral cats at times. I had them 2 days last week and I kept on them the whole time. Their mum arrived to collect them and they were both in the car ready to go in one minute. Since then they have been much better but not as good as they were. Miss H is 5 in Jan and well ready for school and Miss 3 simply copies every thing she does. I was worn out when they left. Miss b used to bite but only when she was teething. We are all in the same boat at present so not much help here either. smartgirl - 2010-11-09 10:08:00 |
| hi knitter, lisamark - 2010-11-09 18:14:00 |

| Hiya smartgirl. Good to hear from you. Yeah I am shattered. Think I am getting to old for the over 2's ha ha. Maybe it is something in the air. Little J is more my speed even with his colic. Lol. Have not had time to knit a stitch and all my vege plants my daughter bought for me yesterday have not been planted yet because today was a day from hell. I kid you not!!!!!! Well I need to sleep for a few hours. I just have to get my gear ready for the early morning rush first. makerealbany - 2010-11-10 00:17:00 |
| yep, I agree with suzy59nz regarding the selvedge stitch. And although I sympathise with you all and your grandkids it feels a bit better knowing we are in similar boats. Haha. Gave up on the antibiotics for sinus yesterday and went to the dentist. $280 later I've had a cracked filling replaced. But no matter how much she tapped or blew cold air on the ones I thought were giving me trouble she couldn't get a response. When I got home, of course, it was a different matter, just about went through the roof with a cup of tea and I still can't eat on the one she 'fixed'. It's not been a great week really, with I. attacking my beautiful fuschia bushes with a hedge trimmer during the weekend and now not being able to fix the pain in my face. It's a long weekend this week and my birthday to boot so things better improve by then. Off to the A&P show today with the women's group. grizzly4 - 2010-11-10 07:10:00 |
| Yes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Friday, grizzly, I hope you have a great day. I have just got home from having the girls in the pool all afternoon. It was lovely. I had a kid at kindy ram me with a pushchair last week. I asked him not to do it and turned to take Miss Hs hand when he rammed me again and because my left leg does not have much control I fell flat on my face hence I have 2 very brused legs among other things. Kindy were very upset. So was Miss H. smartgirl - 2010-11-10 17:16:00 |
| what a cracker of a day today, couldn't have had better weather for the A&P show, the highlight of the day......... strawberries and icecream lol . suzy59nz - 2010-11-10 18:32:00 |
| You are in the war zone smartgirl. The little monkey. We have one little boy like that at playgroup. I always keep an eye on him because he is a biter as well. Miss M was a lot better today. I had to take her to practice dancing for their show tomorrow night. It went well. She looked like an angel on the stage in her tutu. The little minx lol. makerealbany - 2010-11-10 22:44:00 |
| Yes Happy Birthday from me too grizzly. I had better get in early as well heaven knows what Friday will be like. Just got into the cottage after a 16 hour day and I am shot. That is a b-gger about the dental work. I have to go and get my teeth cleaned but I have no chance in hell until my SIL gets home. I have another staff member on the naughty mat at her Annual Appraisal and she is putting a complaint in about me. 'Bring it on" I said to myself. The lazy litte wench. Don't expect congrats on your performance from me if you do not do your job. HA HA. It is funny really!!!!!! makerealbany - 2010-11-10 22:51:00 |
| It was lovely and warm here too suzy. I managed with Miss twos help to plant some petunias, lettuce, silverbeet and capisicums today. We also planted her strawberries but she was busy stripping the fruit off them at the time. Sigh. Hope I can get the tomatoes, eggplants and chillis in tomorrow morning. If I beat A and the children up in the morning I will. makerealbany - 2010-11-10 22:56:00 |
| Egg plants! Mmmmm.... haven't tried growing them or eating them, I have to say! I am so sorry about your legs, smartgirl. I hope you iced them which I didn't do in the aftermath of the first quake when I fell. My leg is still a dark shade of grey and it's 2 months! grizzly4 - 2010-11-11 08:03:00 |
| No grizzly, I forgot. I had tears running down my face all the way home with Miss 4 continually asking me was I alright. Then when it got home it was the girls lunch time etc. It never entered my head. The bruising is still coming out but it is extremely sore deep inside. She was mortified and told her mother about it that night and said at least nanny was still alive. ha ha. I am so amazed at the concern from the kindy, they tell my son and myself every time we go there how sorry they are etc. smartgirl - 2010-11-11 09:20:00 |
| Grrrrrrrrrrr i am so cross, i just bought an Avon gift set on TM for $20.99 and they have asked $20 postage for something that should cost $5.50 . So now i am doing battle, some people have a nerve. They said they want to buy a box to put it in, i have boxes that i save, i have sugested a bubble bag pre paid. suzy59nz - 2010-11-11 16:06:00 |
| Oh, smartgirl, really feel for you, not sure what to suggest except maybe keeping your legs up when you can. Rediculous suggestion, I know so stop laughing! grizzly4 - 2010-11-12 19:57:00 |
| OMG you have a dress????????????????? this i gotta see. Moonday ok. suzy59nz - 2010-11-12 22:15:00 |
| I am wearing the dress today 'cos it's supposed to be 30 degrees but the wind has got up a bit now and a nor'easter so won't make it high now I don't think. Very comfy I have to say but feel a bit self concious! grizzly4 - 2010-11-13 15:15:00 |
| Hope someone took a picture, this could be history suzy59nz - 2010-11-13 17:58:00 |
| You are so rude!!! Haha. It's only been 26 years, half my life as a matter of fact. Good grief, although I did have a few skirts up to 10 years ago when I left Toastmasters. After that pants were far more practical for work. grizzly4 - 2010-11-14 09:21:00 |
| I woke and went back to sleep till 6 am, they don't seem to bother me now, keith said i caused it as i had said we hadn't had one for a while lol. Yes all they did was talk about getting woken up and not being able to get back to sleep again, kept the night staff awake too lol making cups of teas for nervous residents. I noticed at work part of the car park has collapsed in, the ground underneath must have sunk down a little, guess this is gonna happen till it is all settled again. suzy59nz - 2010-11-14 15:34:00 |
| Another 4.9 this evening, when will they ever stop, i was doing my ironing and almost got knocked off my feet, good job i had hold of my iron at the time. suzy59nz - 2010-11-14 21:01:00 |
| Omg you poor girls are still having those quake probelms.!!!!! I had to laugh about the dress grizzly. I wear pants most of the time although I do like to dress up in a nice skirt or dress every so often. Baby is settling down but his naughty sister is not. She will be 3 in January and I cannot wait until she is 5 and off to school. The little monkey. I have have finished my report for Head Office thank goodness. I am heartily sick of reports. Sigh. Every time I held little J today to bring up his wind I dozed off. My cheeky daughter took a picture of the two of us fast asleep in the armchair. We cleaned up M's playhouse her parents got her off TM and carted loads of stuff out to put in it yesterday. She had a ball but still I had a devil of a time getting her to bed. I am off to bed myself now. Feel quite done in. Lol makerealbany - 2010-11-15 00:30:00 |
| I'm not surprised the time you go to bed, makerealbany! You are a real night owl. With I.'s new job we are usually in bed by 9.30 when he has to get up at 4.30. It means I'm up a bit earlier in the morning as well (but not THAT early) to get a few more things done before work. Really noticing the extra travelling time during the week. grizzly4 - 2010-11-15 07:21:00 |
| I always seem to have so much to do grizzly. It is impossible to get to bed earlier. HA HA. I use the kids 4 wheel drive to take M to all her activities now and I cannot believe all the petrol money I am saving. Lol. My SIL worked out the cost the last time he was home. Bless him. I just have to put a few stitches in a fairy dress and one little top for M and then I can go to bed. Had a great day today with M and her friends who were over. They spent most of the time outside so I was able to potter around out there. makerealbany - 2010-11-16 00:17:00 |
| Very hectic day yesterday! Having a later start today thank goodness, just can't seem to get into gear. grizzly4 - 2010-11-16 09:34:00 |
| Certainly got a shock with the beef and chicken prices at Countdown when we did our shopping last night! My piece of steak was about $3 more than I usually pay for the same thing and the selection of chickens were very limited, I got the cheapest at just under $13, and that for a size 16! What's up with having no chickens?? grizzly4 - 2010-11-17 08:48:00 |
| Mmmmm...... I have an evening on my own. Do I knit or do I cross-stitch? grizzly4 - 2010-11-17 19:18:00 |
| haha, decided to knit. But I did watch that programme on TV1 about sending children to boarding schools. Can you believe sending the away at 8 years old?! I kind of understand what the army families were saying about moving around alot, but my kids coped. It's not the house you live in but the home you make it, surely, and how you support your kids through the changes especially if you are an 'at-home' Mum, as some of these Mums were. Once they are older and at high school, perhaps, I could understand the kids themselves wanting to stay where their friends are etc. That 11 year old boy on the programme really worried me with how he was purposefully detaching from his family so it didn't hurt so much!!!! My heart hurt watching the programme. grizzly4 - 2010-11-18 08:41:00 |
| I watched , couldn't believe that they would send an 8 year old off to bording school, how can a seperation like that be good for children, that poor little girl cried every night. Even the parents were upset, so why do it............. beats me, poor little things. I agree with what you say about the boy, "if i don't go home and see mom then i can't miss her" so sad. suzy59nz - 2010-11-18 18:42:00 |
| And it's Friday again, the weeks are going so fast! I am really tired so looking forward to my month off over the CHristmas. I need to get up to Blenheim to see my parents before then. Dad has been diagnosed with parkinsons and can't be given the medication to calm the tremors because of other meds he is on. grizzly4 - 2010-11-19 09:25:00 |
| My thoughts are with the miners and their families today. They must be worried sick. The weather is not great here today so hopefully that means it's a bit better over that side of the Sth Island to aid the rescue plans. grizzly4 - 2010-11-20 08:34:00 |
| I am with you grizzly, after watching the anguish the Chile families were going through it is so much harder to watch when it is in your own back yard. They plus the community must be going through hell, and so close to Christmas. My heart goes out to them all. I hope they have a breakthrough today. tv1 has hourly news updates. I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You have certainly had a dreadful year. smartgirl - 2010-11-20 09:12:00 |
