I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
3201

Morning
Just back from a really lovely long weekend in Hamilton with Sister's family. good to catch up with all your doings you all seem to have been busy with gardens, boats, knitting, relies etc etc.
I'm busy watering the garden as all the vegies look a bit sad as it's been rather warm here while I've been away I let the hose run very slowly around the fruit trees so they get a good deep watering then they don't need it too often.
Managed to finish a pair of socks for niece to take back to a rather cold Italy she is interested in knitting too so have sorted out all my needles for her as I tend to just use my interchangeables now for all types of knitting.
Have a good day

HI Jayem, glad you had a nice time away.

Nice to hear that your niece is interested in learning how to knit. I wish a lot more would learn or be taught anyway.

Went back to the oppie this morning, my SIL saw a dress yesterday and decided to get it today.
I managed to get a photo copy of a baby vest pattern that has buttons on the shoulders. It comes from the old CWI magazines, and is for premmies. I plan to share it if anyone wants it. I will try and copy it and hopefully lighten it up a little.

I will finally get some knitting down shortly.

have a good day

With the amount of wool that I have I've now knitted toddlers Jersey with pictures on the fronts & backs just using different coloured strands of wool & using up near full balls of wool to make a garment I've done 4 so far with pictures taken from graphs off the net. It had taken me awhile to write the graphs out but got to say they look really neat when on the garments. I have done these patterns.... (1) A Giant teddy Bear on the back. a giant bunny with a bird house with bird on top beside the bunny) front (2) A horse head with ponies beside the head (front) (2) A Rocker horse (back) (3) A train with wagons (front) & a train with a plane & clouds another one which is now sold (4) had small teddy's with the numbers 1,2,3, on the back & sleeves. The amount of wool that I have will keep me knitting for years to come don't need to buy any more. I'm not allowed to work due to having surgery a short time ago so have got plenty of time on my hands to knit away

crazycowe - 2014-01-08 14:45:00

Crazycowe that sounds fantastic doing all those garments with pictures and it would use up those small amounts of wool which aren't enough for a garment. I like to read when knitting so take the easy way out with fairly basic patterns although do like experimenting with different patterns.
Despite my good intentions to use up all my wool before getting more couldn't resist the good bargain I saw this am but know what I will be doing with this lot.

I had 3 rubbish bags full of wool from my late mum A lot got thrown out so with her's & mine I now have a heaps to do all sorts of patterns with. I was doing prem, & babies but have now moved up the scale to toddlers. I knit 99% of 8ply so is quick & easy I watch movies when I knit & that is near every day sometime up to 5 or 6 movies per day. Its just fun when sewing all the strands in. On one of the garments I had 12 colours going what a tangles mess it was as the weren't short strands lol ( better with long strand than to run out half way threw the pattern)

jaye you spent a week here and never came for a cuppa. I have many drawers full of wool but still buy more when in spotlight,

carolev - 2014-01-08 15:44:00
3207

Ill never stop buying wool either. After all we will use it eventually.

And its soo nice to be able to just go to the cupboard, well in my case its two pantries and a scotch chest full, and grab just the yarn you want for what you fancy doing next. No waiting.

I do wish mum and I hadn't sold off all our wool, patterns and needles. But with the help of opp shops, trade me and facebook, Im getting a good collection again.

(((((hugs))))) Carole......

*popeye* most of us would not have wool stashes that we got from our Mums if they had managed to use it all up. :) :)

Last night I gave away my teaspoon collection to a man who makes wind chimes. None of my faly wanted them.
Not sure who will want my wool but I am knitting ahead a bit these days, at their requests .

I'm not sure what to advise carolev, but to my mind, if your stalker is getting some weird sort of enjoyment out of hurting you, then the best thing to do is to ignore her and don't let it hurt you. She can only hurt you if you allow her to. Possibly if you ignore her and just carry on with enjoying all the other aspects of your life, she might just give up - no fun if she doesn't get the desired result.

I agree Kuaka.

I didn't inherit a wool stash GMS lol... There wont be anyone to inherit mine so I best keep knitting.

Speaking of that. Ive spent far too much time trying to find a wooden sock knitting loom in NZ, So I better get back to my needles.

Have a good night everyone

oh for goodness sake! This is NOT the forum for family squabbles. Pi** off out of our happy crafty thread. Sort your sh** out in private. Am so over this drama.

sorry kiwi you want me to leave,

no carole, I want your family drama/saga to stay out of our thread.

You don't need to leave but do NOT use this thread for your family squabbles we are so over it. You could start another thread for your squabbles - put it in general and Keep this thread for CRAFT (and gardens and boats and furry friends and other interesting topics lol).

Off to Wellington today to catch up with more little ones - am looking after a 10 week old for a while tomorrow which should be fun.
Have packed knitting and more wool for while away now have to think about what clothes to take as the weather seems rather changeable at moment. Got my priorities right tho' as knitting in first then other things!

Have a good day everyone

Been talking to *caroleV* on the phone.

She loves this thread, she loves her crafts and is great at sharing what she makes. That's that.

I seem to have about 6 'projects' on the go again, I have to discipline myself to get off here :) to tidy surfaces in kitchen and put washing in the drier . I don't have a clothes line as when I was really sick my son towed it away to stop me doing what I was not supposed to be doing. The same son is quite content to see Mummy sitting knitting.

My husband is sitting in his chair singing 'PollyWolly Doodle...now it has changed to Old MacDonald.

I'm outa here.

grandmasue1 - 2014-01-09 09:15:00
3222

awwww GMS, good on your son! If that is what it takes to make you do what you are supposed to do, then well done him!

My washing's in the drier too, my line is propped up by a big piece of wood as it collapsed the other day... sigh... another thing to replace.

jayemtoo, we love Wellington. The temperatures hardly vary there at all! Compared to here where we could start off at 8 degrees and be 28 by the end of the day.

Going to start the sleeves on our wee grandy's cardy this evening, cross stitch today. Am going to have another go at the bit I unpicked the other day.

The Furry One is happy, we have sheep in the paddock again and he considers any animal in the paddock 'his'. His tail hasn't stopped wagging and he hasn't even wanted to play with me like he usually does in the morning. He's out along the fenceline 'protecting' his sheep.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

Carole we don't want you to leave the thread. Just leave the family crap out of it.
Family have left for the last time today, its been soo nice to have along time with them.
We are popping down to the supermarket. Then Ill come home and knit. With a bit of luck I should get the frill finished. Yay. Then just have to sew the sleeves in and the hem on those up.

Ill pop back later. Hope everyone has a good day.

I have had a real gutsfull of this family drama. Grown women - well act like it. Attention seeking ,drama queen.
This is a forum for us to talk about our love of knitting and wool.
See you all some time. I have had enough. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

arrggggg don't you hate it when you keep repeating mistakes... have unpicked this corner of my cross stitch THREE times now, I think I need 'fresh' eyes so am going to put it aside for a bit and go outside before it rains again. Might even be able to coax the Furry One into playing tug-of war lol (doubt it somehow :P)

kiwimade64 - 2014-01-09 11:16:00
3227

I had to unpull about 1/3 of a cradlebag recently. I can't do cross-stitch but just this minute realised that with my new improved eyesight I might be able too :)

grandmasue1 - 2014-01-09 11:32:00
3228

Ffloss keep an eye out ok,,, hopefully the family stuff will stay out of here now.

Ohh B*gger Kiwimade, yep put the cross stitch down for a bit...

GMS you never know you might just be able to see to do cross stitch, or even a long stitch might be easier to start with. Mum did a lot of long stitches. after she had her cataract done.

Time to get lunch then I will sit and knit. Isn't it terrible when you want something finished sooo bad, but other things like housework or eating just get in the way lol

popeye333 - 2014-01-09 11:54:00
3229

all great now off to knit my blanket , I see floss only comes to say good bye. I have been waiting all morning for a pick up she said 10 am nearly 1 pm.
I have never done cross stiches maybe I should try it. make a change

carolev - 2014-01-09 12:41:00

Not only then Carole, she has been in before. Please don't put her off coming back with comments like that.

Ive only got to knit and sew the frill from one shoulder to the other now. so getting there. I must measure how long it is when Im done lol.

Maybe tomorrow.. lol

well popeye I am trying to be a B I hate it to tell the truth.

carolev - 2014-01-09 16:15:00
3232

I cannot understand why you want to be a B... but theres no need to be one in our thread.
Its a nice friendly thread, and no need for being a B in the thread, as a way of getting peoples attention.
Life will be pretty lonely if you don't have people talking to you cos your being a B.
Sorry Carole but that's something a hormonal teenager would do. Not a mature woman.

Well yet another day working on the boat, I really need this holiday - I didn't want to get up this morning, I've got so many aches and pains, I felt like going back to bed after breakfast! Anyway, we spent the day on the boat, me tidying up inside and trying to sort out all Mr Ks tools etc, and stow things, and Mr K working on the bowsprit. I couldn't do anything to help there fortunately. Then just when we were about to pack up and come home, I noticed the sky was very dark, next thing, the heavens opened, a real torrential downpour and hailstones. Just as well we weren't in the dinghy heading back to shore or we would have been drenched.

And just to top it off, tea was almost cooked when the gas bottle ran out and so I had to transfer it to the electric frying pan to finish off, so extra pots and pans. Grrrrr. Doesn't seem long since we changed the gas bottle.

Not a lot of knitting today, but I shall make up for it soon.

Have a great day tomorrow ladies. I'm going to have an early night and rest my weary bones.

kuaka - 2014-01-09 21:20:00

Lol kuaka, you will be to tired to go on holiday. When will the boat be finished. Not much done yesterday was feeling a bit blah so catch up day today

good morning. well I got a lot of my blankie knitted last night, feeling a lot happier today , going shopping for food , I love my new gardening lady, she is fast and dose a good job, daughters moving house today so might go help her clean the old one, good luck with the boat kuaka .

carolev - 2014-01-10 07:15:00
3238

morning ladies :) jeepers kuaka lol, I would have been knackered long before you! And lucky you weren't out in the dinghy when that hail storm hit.

I got half a sleeve done last night, just couldn't concentrate for some reason. And I sorted out the corner to the cross stitch. It was a combination of multiple errors so no wonder it was stuffed up. Have about an inch to do then the first quarter is done except for the back stitching.

Family coming today so will whip round with the vacuum - the Furry One will 'help' by trying to protect me from the big bad vacuum cleaner, he is so funny and we get lots of laughs as he 'helps'. He does the same when I mow the lawn too. Big brave dog!

Might be able to squeeze in some knitting or stitching this afternoon, will see how soon family leaves!

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
A lovely day here, I didn't see the weather last night. Washing is on, hope it stays fine.
Ohh Kuaka You will need a couple of nights in a motel to relax enough for your holiday.
Glad you found what the mistakes were Kiwimade.. Fingers crossed it all works out.
Our boycat used to ride the Kirby vac... but doesn't like the new vacuum cleaner.. Odd boy lol

Ive finished the frill YAYAYAY.. and it looks sooo pretty. Just have to hem and put the sleeves in. So should have pictures at lunchtime.

Today is a year since our Millie Girl was PTS. She was diabetic and losing weight at a great rate, so the vet advised us the kindest thing was to put her to sleep. Still miss her heaps. but Im refusing to get sad today, I know she will be with her granddad, he sent her to me I think.
Cos she arrived 18 days after he died. Got past our two foxies and was under the house. MrP pulled a board off the bottom of the house, handed her too me and that was it. she decided she was staying. We figured since she wasn't scared of the dogs that she could.

Have a good day all. Ill post pics at lunchtime
