I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
3151

Morning Ladies..
Carole I don't believe you have a B**** bone in your body lol.. But have a nice day while the weather is good.
Fine here with a nice breeze again.

Feeling a little better today but have to go do some banking so will get some fish oil caps. I haven't had any since before Christmas and am really feeling it.

Lol at the wool being under the bed Kiwi. I have two I could hide stuff under, but the Bobcat loves to sleep under the beds. I shudder to think how much furr is under them.
The frill is coming along slowly. But being that I feel a bit better today I should get more done.
Family may arrive today, Wish I could remember when they said they would be back this way lol. Makes it a lot easier to plan meals.
Have a good day everyone.

Drove to Hamilton today very windy and rather a lot of traffic.

Does anyone else have a problem posting a message at times - write a message and then find that there's no *post message* button! Kind of annoying at least this am I noticed the lack of the button before I had written a long involve message which has happened a few times now.
At least I can turn to my knitting for solace when this happens lol.
Am doing another pair of socks to use up some wool.

my messages disappear sometimes and I have to start again which is frustrating!
Almost finished the back and fronts of this wee cardy, they are all knitted together on circular needles (not a circle though lol), so no sewing side seams.
Happy knitting :)

I've had a frustrating day. We loaded up the van and headed off to take another load of "stuff" out to the boat, only to arrive at the beach and find a strong onshore wind, with conditions not suitable to go out in the dinghy. We sat and watched for a while to see if the wind abated, but it got worse, so we came home again. Mr K decided he would take the opportunity to have a rest day, and I pottered around, did some sewing, and then made a ham and egg pie for tea with the last of our Christmas ham - it lasted quite well considering we started it on his birthday (16th Dec). Tomorrow we will try again with a dinghy load, and hopefully we are only a few days away for casting off (as in dropping the mooring - not casting off stitches!)

And yes kiwimade, my messages often disappear just as I'm about to send them. Are you using a laptop? I find mine super-sensitive.

kuaka - 2014-01-03 22:27:00
3155

morning ladies :) Yes, kuaka, I am using a laptop. Pretty damed annoying isn't it!

Wet and overcast today - son is heading back to Wellington tonight and after seeing what the weather was like there yesterday I am pretty nervous for him.

Housework and garden weeding (weather permitting) today, the convolvulus is growing back and I need to keep on top of it.

Maybe some knitting or stitching this afternoon, who knows.

Have a good one!

morning all sun's out and day 4 , things are not working to well, did not see grand kids yesterday, finished jadies hat will post it off on Monday , doing a flurry shrug now nothing planed well have to drop off something and take trailer to my daughter as she's moving , and get parts for tony to fix washing machine, we offer to fix this machine and now lots think he can fix theirs too

Morning everyone.
I too have messages go missing. I find it happens if I have my finger too close to the keys on the left bottom of the keyboard then I press something else and blip its all gone. Thought it was just me.

Wet here, not a breathe of wind. 69% humidity.. ick. Have a headache to go with it.
I need new glasses. I sewed up the jacket yesterday and sewed on the frill I have done so far. I had to have the work sitting a fair bit lower than normal or I was going cross eyed lol
But Ohhh it looks soo nice. Going to take a fair while to knit it all. Ive started it from the right shoulder as it says in the pattern and have done down the front to the side seam. It will be worth all the work tho.

Have decided when I do the white one, I will do the frill at the same time as the other knitting. Just doing a bit at a time, so it wont seem like Ive been knitting it for ever

Yup Carole that happens when people hear you have fixed something, suddenly everyone comes to you with the same problem.

Have a good day everyone

Knitting for me this afternoon....will try to tackle a most difficult bootie pattern! Never thought a bootie pattern would beat me! But this one has so far!! I've made the first one as the pattern said....now its time to tweek the pattern as I would do it, cos I'm reading the pattern somewhere not right.
A day in the garden yesterday has made the bones a bit weary on it. but its nice to look out the window and see everything trimmed, weeded and nice.

ixcelm8 - 2014-01-04 12:10:00
3159

Lol Ixcelm8, I knitted the same front pattern for the two fronts of the cardy/jacket Im doing.
Im thinking I made a mistake on the very first or second row. but its all worked out fine.
Gosh the humidity has sapped any energy I had today. I froze some beans and vacuumed the house and Id run out of puff.
Have been knitting again. Am going to knit and sew throughout the day.

Im glad I got extra balls of the wool when I brought it cos Ive already used 50 grams more than the pattern says, and I have a fair bit to go of the frill yet.

popeye333 - 2014-01-04 12:18:00
3160

We nipped up to spotlight in the end. So should have plenty to finish both the cardy's now. Without panicking.
Got 14 balls of wool/yarn for $44.. And YES I remembered to use my gold card lol.
Its sooo hot in the car.

Hope everyone is keeping cool.

morning! It's raining and soooo much cooler! Son has just text messaged us to say he is home - his bus came in at 6.45am, I think these over nighter type trips are the way to go.

Seeing as the house is 'ours' again, I might just stitch today... or I could weed while it is nice and cool, a bit of rain won't matter.... hmmm....

Happy knitting :)

3164

morning girls. I posted it early so you would get it yesterday god our mail is slow. raining lightly here and nice temp to. that fluffy wool dose not go far, have you no air con in your car?? I find when I first get into the car the leather seats burn my butt. doing the washing so off

carolev - 2014-01-05 07:26:00
3165

Morning ladies... Its already 22 degrees here. The wind is getting up tho, so that's helping. Was a terribly hot night. but I managed to sleep in.

travelling overnight is good. I flew home from Perth overnight and it made it easier on the time change. Mind you I left temps like 36 degrees and arrived at 6am on a cold foggy Auckland morning lol.

Yes we have air con in the car, but we don't use it all the time. Makes it chew through the gas. I was pleased to be out of it. Doesn't help that its a dark blue either.
not knitting with fluffy wool Carole. But I think its cos with the frill each row is basically double knitted, cos you turn and knit back on 10 of 14 rows.

It does look pretty tho. I will be sitting and knitting today, everything else is done. And its too hot to do anything else anyway.

Bring on winter....

Hot leather seats and the steering wheel can burn eh. Its amazing. Must get another steering wheel cover actually cos it was hot as yesterday too. Left the older grotty one in the Honda when it went.

Carole do you have a gold card? I used mine in spotlight yesterday but theres nothing on the docket about using it. I wonder if the grumpy clerk didn't include it. she was in a right snappy mood. Should it show on the docket? do you know.?

Have a good day everyone. Try and stay cool

now I have a gold card I use it offen my car has black leather seats but it's pale green outside, if the wool is already discounted the gold card don't work. my eldest and youngest grandkids working

Welcome Dilligaf... Mum and I sold all our wool needles and patterns a few years ago. I have more wool now and plenty of needles. Just slower on the patterns.
Theres a couple of fb groups you might like to know about.. Kantty Knitters and crafty crocheters (nz) .. I think it has nz on end.. And yarn/Wool swappers.
Probably too handy in getting more stuff lol

lol this was me ^^^^ until January when our daughter told us she was pregnant - I was so mad at myself for giving away my knitting/crocheting bits and bobs. I'm slowly getting everything back though.
The salvation army stores sell second hand needles for around 20cents a pair! So much cheaper than buying new and who cares if they are second hand.

That's where I got mine from, and patterns. but I have spoilt myself and got two full sets, well up to a 5mm from the pony range from Deramoes. The others are currently hidden from sight. MySIL loves bamboo needles and I have been getting them from the oppies when I see them. incase I end up not being able to use the metal in the future with arthritis. lol

Kiwimade does Your Daughter Knit or crochet? Its something that should be passed along. I wish id asked mum to show me rather than do for me.

I thought of that Carole but I will need them anyways and the salvo shop had the needles I was looking for. My sister loves knitting so when shes here for the 3 weeks I will be knitting with her. Have a Grandie talking about families so I have got some of the basic knitting patterns for a baby and sewing ones of course. but will be knitting the dolls clothes at night watching tv. WIll give me something else to do. Thanks for the welcome everyone. I usually hang out in the fabric thread. Have a nice sleep all. tis nite from me

morning girls, hang washing out . was being watch too by a guy that lives next door from his up stairs bedroom window , new neighbours just moved in, well day six of being a b***** not working at all week, Mr T seems to pay it back finished my fluffy shrug will sew in up later,

carolev - 2014-01-06 07:19:00
3178

morning ladies :) I would just wave and smile at him and hopefully he will be embarrassed enough to realise he was spotted. New nieghbours, lovely!

garden for me as soon as my antihistamine has kicked in. Weeding (again lol) to do but it won't take too long. ALMOST finished the first quarter of my stitching then will do the back stitching. I know they say you should finish the whole cross stitch before you do the back stitching, but I'd rather do each bit as I go. I hate back stitching almost as much as I hate knitting ribbing lol.

Been fiddling around with the magic loop method for the sleeves of Maddy's cardy but am fed up with it so will knit the sleeves as rows rather than rounds. Only 36 stitches and I just can't seem to get my tension right around the loop where you move the stitches. Need more practice and I don't have the patience to practice on Maddy :P.

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies.... Ohh Id have waved at the neighbour too... Nosey bugger.

Ive woken with a short fuse so MrP better be on his best behaviour.

Yes I agree, the daughters will regret it. I know enough basics to get by and willing to try things. But Id hate not to know how to do any knitting, crochet or sewing. When they start becoming a grandmother they will wish they had learnt.
You tube will help tho.
After I have finished my cardy (half way on the frill now) I have to do a rasta golly. Then Im going to have a play with circular needles and more crochet stuff. Time to do some learning lol

Well I will go do my bloods, should be a lot better than last week. Was going to strip the beds but I cant be bothered lol... it can wait another day.

Have a good day everyone

Lovely day out there so have done one bed.

Family is due back again tonight, so will be making a bacon and egg pie for them and Ill have the left over chicken from last night.

Have just stitched a bit more of the frill on. Only have one front and across the back of the neck to do. Then to catch the picot frill back on the sleeves and put them in.
I don't like to sew the sleeve then attach, so Ive left a wee bit of the side seams open so I can stitch the sleeve on then sew the sleeve seem and rest of side.
I am so Thankfull you sent me the pattern Kiwimade. Cos its really cool. Cant wait to wear it. And Ill be making a white version too.

Bring on the cooler weather so I can wear it sooner rather than later lol.

I always left the back stitching till last, I figured it was like putting the icing on a cake lol.

Hope all is going well.

Nothing in the mail as yet Carole. But we haven't seen the postie as yet.

morning ladies :) Gorgeous socks Deanna, love the pink!

A police car has just been screaming by and the rescue helicopter has gone over. Must be a nasty accident up the road. Traffic has slowed right down outside our house so I suspect there is a road closure. Fingers crossed everyone is OK.

Nearly finished Maddy's wee cardy, should get it done sometime today/tonight. Am pleased with it so far.

Happy knitting :)

Morning Ladies...

Told you Carole that wouldn't be able to be a B****8 for long.. Have a nice day with visitors.
Our family are back. And Im taking my SIL to the warehouse in Pukekohe, she's looking for sandals for her wee granddaughter.
Ohh Kiwimade not good re the accident. Fingers crossed the one who the helicopter is for will mend.
Cant wait to see Maddies Cardy. Im around the curve on the front for the frill. Should finish in the next couple of days, depending on how long SIL wants to stay out.

Bit cooler this morning which is great.

Have a great day everyone

heard on the 8.00am radio news it was a head on collision between two trucks just up the road :( Traffic is starting to flow a bit more now but still really quiet so it must have been one heck of an accident.

Am grafting under the armholes for this wee cardy, haven't had to do this before so I have found a You Tube tutorial and am about to sit in front of the video clip and do it. What on earth did we do before the internet lol... guess we were taught one on one in real life. Bit tough on those of us whose 'teachers' lived in the other island!

Happy knitting :)

Wow not good re the truck accident. Hope people recover.

Carole the parcel arrived today, its lovely thank you. It will be used for sure.

Went to town with my SIL and Im in a fair bit of pain now. me and standing too long on concrete isn't a good look.
I got $80 worth of Christmas cards and paper and a couple of train sets for the grand sum of $5-75.
Then we went to number one shoes , cos we were trying to find sandles for school for my sils granddaughter. And I got a new purse which will hold my phone, cards, cash and INR book which I have to have on me all the time. And that was 30% off so only cost $14 instead of twenty.
So $100 worth for $$19-75.. now that's good shopping eh.

Will have to duck up the road to get more pills for BIL and I want to go to the library to see if they have any books from the author I just read.
Ill wait for the pain killers to kick in fist lol

Have a great day lovely ones.

Well I've spent the last two days sitting between the winch and the bollard on the bow of the boat with Mr K sitting in front of me wedged in the stainless steel bars of the "pulpit", while we do some repairs. I've had my left knee tucked under my left armpit and my right leg dangling over the side of the boat. Every time I've tried to lean forward the bollard jabs my chest and catches my bra stopping me in my tracks and I keep knocking my head on the inner forestay. What fun. (I'm hoping for rain tomorrow so I can have a day off even though it means our holiday will be delayed a little longer). Needless to say I haven't done much knitting.

I hope everyone else is having fun and keeping the knitting needles busy.

morning ladies :) Omg kuaka, I have a mental pic in my head now lol... hope you get to have your holiday soon without too many more hassles.

Lawn mowing today, just waiting for my antihistamine to kick in.

I started a top down cardy for maddy last night - we're going to be calling in and seeing daughter and her wee family on the way down to Wellington at the end of the month. Son will have finished his summer school papers and his degree so we are moving him back to Hamilton. I want to have a few 'goodies' for Maddy to drop in.

Right-o, will finish this coffee then the Furry One and I will get outside.

Happy knitting :)
