Morning all..

Please Ffloss don't go. we are a good lot in here. Carole can I suggest you leave the family stuff to FB. Its not really something that should be on here anyway. It opens you up to more stuff. Never show that things like that upset you. Its giving other people pleasure to know they are hurting you.

Family have just left for their trip up north. Going into grotty weather by the looks.
Im soo tired, I haven't felt like this in ages. Will take a pill tonight. And I reckon Ill will be having a nana nap lol

Gosh that cross stitch is a complex one Kiwimade. be nice when its done tho eh.
Hope you manage to get your trip done Kuaka.

Im nearly half way on the first sleeve on my jacket/cardy. Really pleased with it. Saw an older lady wearing a nice cardy the other day in basically the exact same red, and it looked lovely.
Have to copy a few patterns for my SIL before they stop in on the way back.
They have gone to go to a music festival or something up north. Not sure if its public or not.

Hopefully the thread will return to normal. Have a great day everyone

HI popeye - I know that most of you are lovely ladies. I had just had enough of what was on the message board which had nothing to do with knitting. I felt she was a drama queen.I see now all those messages have been deleted. Lets get on with our knitting. I am making babies jerseys out of the opal sock wool and they come out as fairaisle (spelling?). Pretty cool.

morning ladies :) I love that type of wool ffloss, it's so clever. I remember fairaisle knitting for my kids when they were small, was a real fuss but had great results.

It's our daughter's birthday today so might start her the slouch hat she loves. Bit late starting it on her birthday lol but we'll see her again end of January so I have time.

A nice wet day here today, perfect for knitting or stitching :). And perfect for my garden too, must weed again next week and get my new plants in.

Happy knitting :)

Morning all.
Kuaka I think they are going to Manganui? Somewhere up there anyway. They are going to a country music festival, not sure if its a public thing or private.
Glad your back Ffloss. Hopefully things will stay normal now. Ive got some of that wool that knits up as fairisle. Mum used to knit the real stuff and was in my opinion Very clever at it. Ill cheat and hopefully get some nice designs. I got a couple of balls to knit a jumper for the baby next door. Who was only a 5 pounder so I wont need to knit anything huge for her, for winter.
I cant wait to see how it turns out. SIL was knitting some socks while she was here and they were lovely.
The yarn swappers group is growing, 57 members I think it was. Ive done one trade and a second is in process, and its some verigated wool that Im getting. Im really happy with hows its taken off.
Must knit some slippers too, used to love wearing them when I was a kid.

I took the cheats way out last night and had a pill to sleep. Achy now from laying in one spot. but that will wear off. Im going to potter and take the tree etc down and get us back to normal.
Didn't knit a stitch yesterday, was too tired to concentrate and didn't want to make a mistake lol.
A friend sent me a big box of enid blytons for my collection so I need to sort shelves out for that. Have done one in the lounge for the annuals, which Il move from my bedroom, and then can put the Blytons up in there.

Lovely day for indoor things today. Have a good one everyone

I am back knitting another cradle bag....my 2 oldest granddaughters who show no signs of producing children yet, despite being very good aunties have asked me to knit some up in advance for their children, also golliwogs :).
I do have a 14th great grandchild on its way and as it will be born in July I will do some smaller baby knitting for her/him.
We are having a quiet few days as it was quite a build up to Christmas.
I still have a wall hanging I am working on too.

GMS what is a cradle bag?

Books are moved, Christmas decorations all put away. need to get the crate out that has MrPs things for the top of the tv cabinet. Will get that out in the next day or so. Just ran out of puff today.

Have been knitting, now that I have my brain back lol

Thinking I might start a granny square blanket, in crochet, trying different patterns rather than my old faithfull lol

popeye if you go to ravelry and check out Frankie Browns listings, there's a cradle which has a frill around the bottom and that converts into a drawstring bag. I've got one half made but the bottom turned out way too big for the top. I'm knitting dish cloths at the moment - not very exciting, but I much prefer them to ordinary chux type things.

It rained all day here and very heavy last night, and well into the night, didn't stop till about 5am Mr K told me, I was late to bed but I slept like a log. It's been a fabulous day today, so hopefully those further north have good weather today too.

I've dug out my togs, so better try them on and see if they still fit, or there's no point taking them.

Right, time to put my feet up for half an hour.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

morning ladies :) Love the lamb in his 'sleeping bag' jayemtoo :). I have plans to knit that cradle for our wee Grandy - it's on my to-do list. I like GMS's idea of knitting the dolls too. Seems to 'fit' the idea of a knitted cradle.

Got a lot of stitching done yesterday and almost finished the first quarter of the pattern. MrK looked at it and commented, you have a lot to do don't you! Umm... yeah!! But the corner is looking good in spite of me using the wrong coloured threads for the eyelets, duhhhh!! I am not unpicking it and anyhoooo, what difference does it make. Will just do the other corners the same. So bring on a few more wet days lol so I can stitch!

Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies...
Yep up earlier today, well have been up but wasn't getting onto comp till after breakfast last week lol.
We have blue sky and grey sky. I don't hold out much hope for washing, so not going to bother .
Have to ring med centre see if I can get in for my depo. And Ill do my INR if the lab is open too.
Lawn boys should be here if it stays fine long enough.
Had a look at the self sown scarlet runners yesterday, will have a good meal to pick in a day or 3.
A few cms away from the decreasing for the armhole on the first sleeve. Should get that one finished late today or sometime tomorrow.

Have to ring the 100% electrical too, and see what can be done about my frying pan since the new lead they gave me didn't fit... I miss being able to use it.

I got a new kitchen timer for Christmas and the silly thing is soo quiet I cannot hear it, even sitting on my laptop lol.. Have since discovered there is a kitchen timer on the microwave hahahaha, so Ill use that, but bring the timer in so I can keep an eye on the time anyway.

Have a wonderful day everyone

Oooh norty me... so I haven't had any greens at all for three days. And my INR test for warfarin is 3.1.. should be between 2.0 and 3.0.. so now Ill be carefull around knives and have some greens before Monday. lol.

Had my whole frying pan replaced this morning. My third in 3 years I don't mind saying. Ive had The lemon pan for the last 3 years lol. so fingers crossed this one behaves.

Carole why did you ring someone at 1am?
Id have been livid to be called at that hour when it wasn't an emergency. And I don't want any more of those either, the emergency I mean.

popeye333 - 2013-12-30 15:49:00

I read carole's post that way too popeye but I wonder if she was calling England? So had to make the call at 1.00am to make up for the time difference. (I would be livid too if I was called at 1.00am unless it was an emergency).

*popeye* My electric Frying pan is about 30 years old :)

*caroleV* rang someone in England I think you will find :) I know that is where 'Uncle Brian' was.

Pasue needs an INR test too, I keep forgetting. My blood sugars are a little higher than I would like but I am going to add to that by having KFC for tea. It is at least 6 mths since we last had some.

3122

They were built to last back then GMS.. Hope this one lasts longer than the last three.
Phew thank goodness it was England Carole rang..

I ate more greens than I normally would when relations were here, and was soo over food, Ive sort of picked for the last few days. Ill remedy that tho in the next week.
I haven't checked my sugar since ISo I just haven't bothered. Ill get back to it eventually.
KFC never bothers my sugar. Im assuming its the chicken that counteracts the rest of it.

popeye333 - 2013-12-30 16:58:00

I'm going to knit in the evenings when I can't see properly to stitch and have found patterns for a couple of very cute cardy's for Maddy. Will also begin knitting daughter a hat for her belated birthday pressie.

Lawns need mowing but son has volunteered to do that (wow!!! lol) and I have beans needing to be frozen. Have already given some to the nieghbour - lovely to be able to return a favour. (They have been mowing our frontage on their rideon).

Happy New Year to everyone, I hope 2014 is kind to you all.

Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Phew Carole lol.. I didn't think you would ring someone at that hour lol...Have a nice time shopping.

Nice of son to offer to do the lawns Kiwimade. I used to do the same, stitch in the day knit at night.
Im well into the second sleeve of my jacket.. Knitting the frill will be the fan part. Gotta be long lol.
Im browning a bit of hogget to put into the crockpot. Have to remember to turn the new pan up or it doesn't cook anything, compared to the last one.

Will pick some fresh young beans to go with the hogget.

Washing on and another load to do. Nothing too urgent so it doesn't matter if it doesn't dry today.

The group on FB is going soo well. Im really pleased.

Yes our thread here will be a year old tomorrow. Cant believe how fast it has gone.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day

morning :) and happy new year to everyone!

We wondered how on earth they built that nest and how it was started off! And we think we are so clever with our crafts! Unfortunately, it did get too windy and the nest was blown off, luckily there were no baby occupants.

We're off to spend part of the day with my family, so I'm up early to make a flan and bake a slice to take with us.

Happy New Year!

Morning Everyone.. Happy New year, and Happy Birthday to our Thread.

Wow that was a clever bird to make that nest Kiwimade. Very Festive lol.... Kinda glad it came before babies were in it.

Trouble with packing up and moving away Carole is what ever problems you have generally goes with you. Hope you have a better year. Work on one thing at a time, I find that easier.

I want to go out today, getting a bit house bound. But don't know where Id like to go. well I do, lol spotlight, but that would be buying wool for the sake of it.
Five rows to the armhole on the second sleeve. Im glad I brought extra wool, cos Im going to cut it fine to what the pattern says.

Have a wonderfull day. Stay safe on the roads.

Happy Knitting

Sounds like a plan carolev - not easy to do though.

Very overcast here - we are still struggling to get ourselves ready for our holiday. Mr K has decided we need to go to the red shed today to buy a couple of folding chairs to take with us, and I need to return the modem/router which I bought on Boxing day which didn't work, so another days delay.

Yesterday I mowed two of our lawns, and the strip down the driveway, put clean sheets on the bed and did the washing, and then distilled a batch of spirits and filtered it. So by teatime I was feeling pretty knackered. An easier day today is definitely called for and the holiday is well overdue. If I can persuade Mr K to drive today I can knit on the way.

Have made several dish cloths in the last few days but the possum/merino tunic is still waiting for the side seams to be sewn up. Thought I would have that done before Christmas. Must do it before we go away.

Happy knitting everyone, and all good wishes for 2014.

Happy New Year.

morning girls. second day of this year, found yesterday hard to be nasty when every visitor was so lovely and kind, so try again today, did some knitting on jadies hat and made bunntings, first time and last time doing them, I am off now to learn how to be a toxic old cow , and mean to my family.

morning ladies :) Foggy here this morning but looks like it won't be long before it clears off. Son got the lawns mowed for me but I have just a little bit to mow under the cars, will take all of 10 minutes.
I am up to the crown of the slouch hat, it doesn't take long to knit at all. The Furry One took off with my yarn again, little buggar! Luckily all he did was unravel the yarn. Will get the hat finished then start a wee cotton cardy for Maddy. Bought some cotton yarn at Spotlight for half price and it's a pretty salmon pink colour.
Still beavering away with my stitching, should finish the first quarter over the next couple of days :).
Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies.

Soo true Ixcel. A few years back mum and I both gave up, sold all the patterns , needles etc. Hers was due to arthiritis, mine was a torn bicep which knitting agrivates.
But I decided I had to work through the pain cos I missed it. Was aching a bit last night but I think that's cos I was turning needles soo much. Im glad Im back to it tho.
No fun in being nasty Carole. do something that brings you pleasure and stuff everyone else.
Ohh the furry one was just "helping" Kiwimade. He loves to Help obvioiusly lol.
I really want to go to spotlight, but MrP doesn't. so will wait for the next sale I guess.
Have done 21ish patterns on the frill. Its cool and soo pretty. Will take a few days tho cos its gotta be fairly long. It would look pretty around any neckline, and smarten up anything plain.
Not feeling so flash this morning, so will get a few groceries and sit and knit.
HAve a good day all

Just spotted this! Congratulations ixcelm8 :) I became a Nana for the first time last September. Will this be your first grandy? Such good news to start the year off!

Thanks carole for the offer, but I have enough. I'm determined whatever yarn/wool I have is going to have a purpose. I'll knit the wee cardy for Maddy then begin to use up my scraps.

I started a circular 10 stitch blanket but it is puckering in the middle, I suspect I have forgotten to add/decrease stitches somewhere along the line so will unpick it soon.

Have just come in from the garden... getting sooo hot out there already! MrK and I have begun planning the BBQ area and I'm quite excited about a new gardening/outdoorsy project. I'll sketch out the plan so we have a better idea of what we are going to do. AND it will be cheap as chips to do as MrK has all the timber etc we need in HIS stash lol. So it's not just us ladies who has stashes!

lol me too deana, I don't feel quite so bad about my stashes knowing he has timber 'for Africa' out there! He put in an old totatara post with an antique type tap and brass hoop thing for a hose to be wound on. The next step is we dig a wee trench to the water pump and hook up some pipe (he has a stash of that too lol) so we don't have to drag the hose around. I have always wanted a garden tap out in the garden.
Looks like my stitching time is going to be limited!

morning ladies :) Yep carole, there comes a point when you think enough! It's done!
My sister is visiting today, MrK has made some pickle out of her cucumbers so she gets a jar and he has done some repair work for one of her outdoor chairs. It also gives the two Furry Ones a chance to play and race around madly for a while.
Finished the slouch hat for our daughter but my tension was a bit loose so I'll stitch some shirring elastic into the ribbing. Should do the trick. Will make a start of Maddy's wee cardy when son wakes up (wool is stashed under his bed).
Definitely chilly this morning and a front is coming over. We are right on the edge of it, sunshine on one side of the house and dark clouds on the other.
Happy knitting :)
