| 3051 | Merry Christmas! We're waiting for family to arrive so I have a few minutes to pop in here. We have opened Santa sacks lol and some pressies... Maddy is doing so well. Have had lots of cuddles and smiles and pukking up lol but all good. Son is a doting uncle and the Furry One is just smitten :). The Furry One is soooo gentle with Maddy and has toned down his busyness. He seems to know Maddy can't handle his jumping about. He did bring one of his toys over to Maddy for her to play with him - soooo cute! The rain seems to have eased off so maybe, just maybe, we will all be outside. I hope you all have a wonderful day in spite of all family losses. I miss my Mum terribly and just wish she was here to enjoy Maddy and our newly extended family. I make it in huge wine glasses and its a struggle to get through. But as I only eat it once a year I make the most of it. Ohh dear Spotlight has a sale tomorrow lol. 30-50% of a lot of wool. And besides, our wee Maddy is going home today (son-in-law has to go back to work :( ) so I'm making the most of having her home. We were given some Bunnings cards for Christmas so maybe tomorrow we will go and have a look at plants for the garden and MrK wants a decent torch. Today is my lazy day, I think I have earned it so will get some stitching done and cuddle Maddy. | 3061 | Well gave in and called in at spotlight as in the area anyway - shop not very busy and was frankly disappointed with the yarns - seemed to be only the ultra fancy type yarns on sale - the type of stuff that knits into lacy scarves - can't remember the name of it and similar stuff. The better quality wool and yarns were not on sale. | 3064 | hmmm, well we decided to go to the warehouse to get a couple of plastic rubbish bins to put the recyclables so they're not just in plastic bags cluttering up the place. Big mistake. It was packed. I tried to buy a pair of jandals too but not one pair in my size - all too big. Went to Noel Leemings and bought a 12volt charger so we can charge the cellphone while we're away on the boat, and a new wireless modem to replace the one that fried last week. Can't seem to get it going. $130. I suppose I will have to ring them tomorrow. I don't want to take it back before we go away or that will be another day wasted. | 3067 | morning ladies :) I just hate crowds kuaka so avoid the sales like the plague. Daughter was battling her way through them at The Base in Hamilton, she had a credit in one of the shops she had saved for the sales and knew exactly what she wanted. I think if you have a plan and know what you want and get there early you can zip in and out. Sounds like the fine dust getting in your throat carole, do you keep the doors/windows open as you work? The garden is looking fabulous (if I do say so myself lol), just have a few gaps needing to be filled. Sister-in-law has said I can take cuttings from her garden (awesome!!) and she raided mine Christmas Day. Love swapping gardening stuff - just like yarns and wools lol, so satisfying for each party to have what they want at minimal cost and effort. Housework today, I can't get away with not doing it after having so many people through on Christmas Day and the Furry One shredding one of his soft toys to get to the squeaker. | 3068 | carolev - you have to be very careful when you use potting mix, there are health warnings on it, and one of the ladies who posts on here lost her mother a while back because she developed legionnaires disease which they think was a result of using the potting mix. Very sad. Still can't get my new modem to work. Grrrrr. Think I will just phone them and tell them I'll bring it back after my holiday. Nothing planned as yet for today, will probably sort some clothes out and go out to the boat. Have to clean up the mess made by two swallows who nested in the kitty house on the boat. I lifted the lid to put the kitty litter in, in readiness for our trip, and some birds eggs dropped out and there was a lovely little nest, made from mud and twigs and lined with lovely soft feathers, but there was bird shit caked all over puss' sleeping quarters and the little bit of carpet there, plus all over the chain, anchor and rope which is stored in there when we're not using the boat. Sister is also giving me her old outdoors table as she has bought a new one, a lick of paint and it will fit beautifully somewhere in the garden lol. Will get some stitching done today, am up to the first corner!! OMG!!! all those quarter stitches are hard on the eyes BUT I have found the perfect spot in the house under two windows to stitch. | 3094 | what a pain kiwimade - I spent over an hour last night on the phone to the support team for my new modem, and in the end we gave up and it was deemed to be faulty, so I was told to return it for replacement. I think I'd rather have my money back or a credit to get something else, and I'll buy a different modem. The one I got seemed to be very inferior when I got it home and unpacked it. Grrrr! and then after all that, when I went to use the old modem again (which was working fine before the call to the support team) it wouldn't work and I had to phone Vodafone to get it working again. Seems the support team had changed the settings in an attempt to get the new modem working. No wonder I'm going grey. Our holiday seems to be getting further and further away. We took another load of stuff out to the boat yesterday and discovered a problem which may need fixing before we can cast off. Mind you, looking at the photo on the front of the Herald this morning makes me thankful I'm not off on a motoring holiday. Going to try to do some more sorting of stuff to take with us, and probably have to go and get a few more groceries. It seems to be all I do at the moment, chase my tail and buy groceries. I finished knitting my tunic a few days ago but still have the side seams to sew. Tried mattress stitch but I find it very difficult, and it's moss stitch and the sides, so I think I will unpick the bit I've done and just do a back stitch, then I can find something else to do. And for the first time ever my bobcat curled up beside me and leant on my legs for a sleep too.
