Certainly not Iowa as US State Governments don't perfin their stamps. there are thousands of different USA perfins and probably more than one I so you will also need to check the size and number of holes and the spacing to be sure what it stands for. I don't have a listing of the USA perfins and I don't think any of my customers do either but no doubt somebody in the USA will have a listing done. kiwisteven - 2011-02-12 19:31:00 |

The perfin won't relate to the person nor the district so I'd guess CC stands for Cook Court but it is only an educated guess. why not email the place and ask? kiwisteven - 2011-02-14 21:00:00 |

I'd be fairly sure that Nobody has such a collection. For many years Bruce Alexandre of Stirling & Co had a standing offer of $1,000 just for a look at a full sheet of red and blue boys. The offer was never claimed despite many people adamant that they had or knew of somebody with full sheets of the 1931 Red & Blue Boys. kiwisteven - 2011-02-14 21:04:00 |

To add to above (and not a reflection on Ruskiwi999), I was also offering $1,000 just to look at any set of complete sheets of 1931's in private hands. Not sure whether it was Bruce or I started this, but I see I made the offer on the TV programme "Spot On" back in 1983 - and the offer has been continued, with no-one taking it up, despite talking to many people "knowing" of sheets. Of course, they were issued in the middle of the depression, so who would have had the spare cash for the postage involved, let alone the extra donation? It's possible they still exist, but..... dunedinstamps - 2011-02-16 09:34:00 |

If you had said the collection was located outside NZ already then our advice probably would have been different. You made it nearly impossible to give proper advice when you said the collection contained items which we very much doubt that it does and now you say that you have received advice to send it off to Harmers. I have no idea on where you got that advice from but generally speaking New Zealand stamps will sell best in New Zealand and USA stamps best in the USA etc. Donald Ion, myself and Don White who have given you advice on this have all been in the New Zealand stamp trade for 40 years each and would have a much better idea than any American dealer. I usually buy my best bargains from overseas dealers who have no ideas on what they are selling. kiwisteven - 2011-02-16 22:11:00 |

| 3036 | Hi All, i have just got my power back on at home this morning so will be working from there for several weeks from now on. My shop (Shades Stamp Shop in Shades Arcade in the Christchurch CBD) is fairly badly trashed. i was there when the quake struck with several customers in the shop. All managed to get out. One large glass cabinet crashed down onto another, heaps of stuff came off the shelves, some ceiling panels fell and the place really moved around in all directions. Some of the walls are now out of alingment so I guess the building will have to be rebuilt. I'd guess It will be many weeks before I can get in to retrieve stock. I only had a cut hand so am well. i expect to concentrate on internet sales for the next few weeks while my shop business is decided. my house is o'kay although in a mess but that is only time to sort. Steven McLachlan. kiwisteven - 2011-02-25 08:30:00 |

| 3040 | Hi "kiwisteven" good to here that you are o'k and all is well. Do you know if the staff of "real Aotearoa" in Christchurch are o'k. Cheers teddybearlover - 2011-02-25 23:03:00 |

The answer to that is no. From what I understand the manager of Real Aotearoa in Wellington was visiting Christchurch to help in interviewing a replacement for Nicolette, the current Christchurch Real Aotearoa manager who as you will have noticed is very pregnant. Sadly i understand that the Wellington manager Melissa was out in the mall for lunch during the quake and was caught under a shop veranda and killed. Nothing officially known so far and i can't confirm it but it comes from reliable sources. kiwisteven - 2011-02-25 23:21:00 |

| 3043 | For some of you, you will know that I intended to issue a CAL on Saturday 26th February for the inaugural visit of the Queen Mary 2 to Lyttelton. Because of the earthquake the vessel was diverted to Wellington so the issue will not go ahead at this stage. What happens with the stamps I haven't decided but will let people know in due course. there are by the way no postal services either inwards or outwards in Christchurch at present but this will be reviewed on Monday when hopefully some kind of limited services can be offered by NZ Post. kiwisteven - 2011-02-27 16:46:00 |
| 3044 | A new Question, We are clearing our Grans estate I have come across two letters she posted to herself (I forgot the date 1966 I think) with one cent stamps and she has written first day of New Zealand Post. There is also around 10-20 Royal Wedding envelopes with Dianna and Charles Stamps 1981 First day Cover?? and just the stamps as well and around 10 45c stamps 1995 Victory (Americas cup) are any of these worth anything to anyone or should I dump them. Thank you for your help in advance. Cheers gransestate - 2011-02-27 19:04:00 |

Disappointing for you Steven re the QM CAL. How about using them for a first day of postage after the CHCH Quake date cover, noting how the QM couldn't berth at Lyttelton etc, with an added collectability being made by the recipients taking them in to their closest post office that would back stamp the envelope on day received....? just a thought.. Would be interesting to see how long all took to get out of CHCH and to different areas around NZ. Maybe it is a real bad idea, but a thought :-) jaybee2003 - 2011-02-27 21:48:00 |

Hi Jo, I'm posting (Hopefully some mail this morning (Monday) including one to you with a small rubber stamp cachet on it for the first outgoing mail since the Quake. I understand some offices will be opening in the morning and I will endeavour to post mail at Phillipstown which is the closest one to me which should be open. please let me know when you receive it and also of course how it has been handled in the mail. Will have to think through the Queen Mary 2 stamps. On Tuesday afternoon I was meant to have some maxi-cards delivered to my shop by the printers but they didn't turn up. I do of course have all of the stamps on hand and at home. Anything at my shop will be unaccessable for weeks I think. an hour ago I heard a noise outside my house and found it was a fully armed Lav armoured vehicle doing a security patrol! kiwisteven - 2011-02-28 01:36:00 |

The 1 cent stamp cover is 1987 and worth about $1 as they had a record mailing that day and many people kept them. The 1981 Royal wedding covers are also very common and I sell them for $1 each. The 1995 America's cup stamps are common mint but scarcer used. You should use them for postage. kiwisteven - 2011-02-28 01:39:00 |
