Yep,smartgirl, I'm into the who dunnit type programmes with lots of forensic stuff in it. not sure what Australian one is coming back?
Today is family day as usual. Daughter S and B2 will be over shortly and she has just been paid her first monthly salary I'll bet she wants to go to the mall!! Son S and his family will be over later for tea, I assume. I am going to make pizzas for a change. The grandsons will love me!! haha. Tomorrow will be our quiet day, catching up on housework after our wee tornado's visit today, doing the monthly payouts for the shop, finishing a wee jacket to take in on Monday and starting an order for wee sox. If I can maybe some x-stitch and read a bit of the book I started last weekend.

Hello girls. I am back online as my son reconnected me today. I had a fab birthday yesterday and spent the afternoon with friends. Absolutely no babysitting. Lol. I have been spoilt again but I don't mind that one bit. HA HA. My daughter's birthday is tomorrow so we are having a Takeaway Luncheon, which I think is an excellent idea although I need to bake Birthday Muffins in the morning so M can ice them for her Aunty. I am feeling really rested after another day lazing around. God it is so good to know that you do not have to be somewhere at a certain time. I am loving this weekend.

BU**ER, I saw on facebook that your birthday was the 6th and I made a mental note to get in first and you beat me, but I am glad you did as it had gone completely out of my head. Happy Birthday for yesterday.

Where are you makereal, suffering last nights celebrations. Grizzly the Australian programe is City Homicide, I think it starts on Monday night. Just taking a break from housecleaning. haha

I missed it, too! Happy Birthday for Friday, makerealbany!! It was my daughter's birthday yesterday, too but she celebrated with friends on SAturday night and suffered for it on the actual day. Silly girl! I had a lovely weekend, no thanks to the darn weather. Being able to play in the garden a wee bit would have been the icing on the cake. And now we are into another week! Is it me or are they rolling on really fast these days?

grizzly4 - 2010-08-09 07:40:00
3006

No its not you, I cant believe how fast the weeks go by, we must be getting really old. Makereal are you off line again. It is a beautiful sunny day here, quite warm infact. I have had to open the doors. Makes me feel good as I know spring is around the corner. Have a great day girls.

smartgirl - 2010-08-09 10:54:00
3007

Blo--y internet keeps dropping out because of all the lousy weather up here. Thanks for wishes girls. Had my girl's birthday yesterday so another family day. Ah heck the darn My sky technician is here for the kids. Had to come now didn'y he?

makerealbany - 2010-08-09 11:43:00

Cool my daughter is dealing with it. I am once again knitting baby singlets. The girls just love them. Of course every new baby has to have new singlets to start with. I keep losing track of time as well girls. I am also forgetting where I put my glasses down and other idiotic important stuff. I spent 15 mins searching for my sunglasses before I got into the car and then remembered I had left them in the car. That is not the worst part. I had 2 pairs of glasses in the car. Honestly!!!! I told my daughter and she said that it was because I am worn out. Maybe she is right although I feel ok. My SIL is home again on Wed. This tour was only for 3 weeks. I can have a break then. Kids wanted to get me My sky for my birthday but I said not to bother. It is hard enough getting time to watch Sky. Lol. Little M is sick so her Mummy stayed home to look after her today. She has a cough.

A few bugs seem to be going around, don't they? Hubby was home with one yesterday and I had to leave the shop early and come home instead of going to work yesterday. Felt really awful but seem to be ok today, thank goodness. Good frost here this morning but lovely and sunny.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-10 08:15:00

woke up full of cold this morning, couldn't evenput my contacts in my eyes were so sore and red, just a head cold though not anything like the flu

suzy59nz - 2010-08-10 19:26:00
3011

Yikes girls. The bugs are going around. M is really coughing so she is off to the Doc's tomorrow. I am starting to cough now. My poor grandson may go back to Christchurch with a cough. He is so thin. Away from home they starve themselves of good food and eat rubbish. I will feed him up while he is here. Paws, his cat went nuts when he saw him. Lol. Lovely day here I got all the washing dry and aired out the house and cottage. Trip to Airport went ok( for once).

makerealbany - 2010-08-10 22:04:00
3012

Poor I. doesn't know whether he is Arthur or Martha at work! Being pushed and pulled between the owner of the company and his pat-time Manager. I feel like getting the 3 of them together and knocking their heads together (as my father used to say). He has very little confidence in himself since he has been unwell so won't stick up for himeself and if he does try they tell him he is getting overly stressed again! Grrrrr! So frustrating on the outside looking in. The next stresser is the company trip to Mooloobar next April. We don't have passports and don't have the money for a trip as we have been helping both our children financially this year. I also don't enjoy flying at all and suffer from bad vertigo at times which flying can bring on. Besides 3 days with these extrovert high flyers would do me in well and truly! It's not like I'd be able to nip off to explore crafty things. Haha.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-11 08:28:00
3013

Grizzly it is a darn shame but Real Estate is very stressful. Unfortunately there are a lot of Piranas in the business who go for the jugular and twist everything to make themselves look better and to erode other people's confidence. It is very hard for you to standby and see this happening. If only Hubby could talk to someone else. He needs to do some affirmation work. Women can talk to other women( friends, family, etc) but men find it difficult to spill their guts as one of my boys says. Generally Women are not afraid to reason probelms out with others. Men do not think the same and therefore carry a lot inside. They think they have to be tough and take all the shite. Too hell with the trip. You don't have to go. What can they do to you? I had one b--tch who continually tried to undermine me when I was in Real Estate. It annoyed me but everyone saw through it in the end. A good friend of mine once told me that the most successful Real Estate Agents were all Ba--tards. She has been in the business for 30 years so she should know. She had repeat clients and was happy if she sold a house a month. Having independant means it was all she needed. Property management is the pits. Very hard work.

On a happier note my SIL is home so I have time to do some craft. Yippee. M has tonsilitis and the GP said 2 out of 3 children going in to see him have it as well. Weird aye? I have to take my grandson shopping tomorrow afternoon for shoes. I cooked a roast dinner tonight and he said it was the first roast he had had since he was up here last.!!! He has an Aunt on his Mum's side down in Christchurch so it is sad that he is not invited to any roast meals there. Maybe she is too busy. I like to see him enjoying food he is so thin. He will be 21 in October but looks 17.

makerealbany - 2010-08-11 21:31:00
3015

Your grandson sounds really sweet! Is he able to cook for himself where he is living?
I. has some great stories of good & bad tenants/property owners etc, so does my daughter as she is the same game but she loves the fast pace. I think she could be a bit of a high-flyer with very little encouragement. I see my job being keeping her grounded so she doesn't leave her partner and son behind. Her partner is the same personality type as me so it is easy to see where he might be coming from most of the time. Little does he know how much advocacy I am doing on his behalf!! Haha.
I have finished my sock order and on to a fairisle baby cardy in white and lime green. Very pretty contrast, if I do say myself.
My work colleagues are coming out to see where I live this morning and then we are going to lunch. We always do a bit of team building when one of us moves house (usually me) or does some redecorating etc.
I really hope the rain predicted for tomorrow blows over before the weekend. When we get sunny days I get a real itch to be out in the garden. And I need to kill the moss on one side of the drive. Haven't hadto deal with that problem anywhere else. Lucky, I guess.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-12 08:51:00
3016

Yes he can cook there. I laughed at the comments about your girl. 4 of my kids are high Flyers as you say. However two of them are very well grounded. Lol. The cardi sounds nice grizzly. My group are going out to a bug dinner in Rotorua. I told them when I was available but they have organized it for a date when I cannot go. Ah well that says heaps!!!!! I will resign this year as soon as I get the Employment cases sorted. I have too many other things to do where I am appreciated. I hope. Ha ha. One never knows these days. Yep the decking needs another sparay and so do the paths. It is all the darn rain.

makerealbany - 2010-08-12 23:06:00
3017

How are you feeling suzy?

makerealbany - 2010-08-12 23:07:00
3018

Smartgirl I do so love your patterns. Your knitting is really lovely. You manage to churn out the garments as if you were a machine girl. How are the girls? M is sick. K is sick. Both households are feeling fragile at the moment.

makerealbany - 2010-08-12 23:10:00
3019

Employment cases, makerealbany? That sounds pretty heavy duty. I have an understanding of employment law but hate having to deal with the emotional 'buy-ins' of the parties involved. I was on the collective of a residential programme for teenage girls years ago and in the end, employment stuff was all I ended up doing. I lasted 6 years then got out.
My friends came to see my house yesterday and there was lots of great feedback. It wasn't till I had been out for the day and came home in the evening that I realised the place reeked of Deep Heat!!!!!
Hubby had had a bad night with his knee the night before and my nose had got used to the stink overnight so despite my great tidy up before they arrived that's what greeted them. And no-one said anything!

grizzly4 - 2010-08-13 08:53:00
3020

thanks for asking makerealbany, i was full of cold for one day then woke up the next day fine, been fine since, the RN at work says i must be very healthy, somedays i don't feel healthy. Probably the vitamins i take, they are like horse tablets lol.

suzy59nz - 2010-08-13 17:04:00
3021

Hi suzy59nz! How's the Wizard coming along? Have you and R received the invitation to the 10th anniversary of the Women's Group yet?

I know I'm getting old, ladies, the groups I started start celebrating anniversaries of that sort of number and when the children who were at the After School Programme when that was my job are now bringing their children. Scary, scary, scary!

grizzly4 - 2010-08-14 09:52:00
3022

yes Grizzly got my invatation, i will be going but R unsure of what shift she will be working that day, she is going to find out.

Just about to leave for Waimate, going to a 70th birthday, not looking forward to it, if you blink you miss Waimate, not a thing to do there, staying the night then probably come back early Sunday, all K's family come from there and i'm not too keen on one or two of them so have to watch my P's and Q's in front of them lol

suzy59nz - 2010-08-14 12:29:00
3023

Yes very heavy duty. One has been going on for months. Her Lawyer is using all her skills to delay it but it has to be sorted. Oh oh I use deep heat too. Ha ha. I have had my daughter and little K stay for 2 days. They are both ill and Hubby is renovating the kids's bathroom. I was up at 1.30 with the little darling. Left his Mum to sleep until he pointed and said milk. He is breastfed. Need I say more. I had to give him to his Mum. I am still getting the place in order. Tomorrow night I have to pick up my grandson who has been visiting his Mum In Hamilton and then he flies back to Christchurch on Tuesday. My little cottage is coping quite well really. Lol. My grandchildren call it the "Motel". I am going to sit and knit after this.

makerealbany - 2010-08-14 19:13:00
3024

Oh well that is great Suzy. My preggie daughter and her little girl are also sick and I am still okay. I am keeping it at Bay. My low Immune system is being assisted with Garlic, honey, fish oil and a large spoon of Maltexo on a daily basis. Since my trip to Europe I have been eating a lot of olives, salami, pickled garlic and ginger. Maybe all that stuff is doing me some good. Lol.

makerealbany - 2010-08-14 19:19:00
3025

Wow! Maltexo has been around for years, hasn't it? I remember Mum givibng a spoonful before school each morning. Probably contributed to future weigh issues for me, eh? The name certainly triggered memories, though.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-15 11:13:00
3026

Guess what? I have the bug. Woke up this morning feeling lousy. Not too bad now though. Yep I love Maltexo and so does my hios. Lol.

makerealbany - 2010-08-15 19:55:00
3027

You poor things! Thats you and Suzy59nz unwell today. Look after yourselves and stay warm! How are you feeling smartgirl?

grizzly4 - 2010-08-16 08:04:00
3028

This is not nice. I hate it when you lose the skin of your nose so fast. Yuk. Anyway my grandson is off back to your neck of the woods tomorrow grizzly so that will make it easier for me. I went to the GP and yes it cost a fortune. I have just dried my grandson's clothes that he gave me to wash at 1. today!!!!!!! I ask you? trying or what. The weather is still lousy here. I am too warm grizzly. I cannot stand the heater on and if I did not know better I would assume I was going through the change. Been there, done that. It is this bug. I see my pregnant daughter standing out on the porch to cool down. She is worse than I am, Poor girl. My other girl is starting to feel better but she said she had never felt so sick with a bug.

makerealbany - 2010-08-16 20:28:00
3029

Smartgirl. I hope you are well.

makerealbany - 2010-08-16 20:28:00
3030

It sounds dreadful! I hope the drugs kick in quick for you all. Your grandson isn't coming back to the nicest weather. Misty drizzle and low temperatures and no Grandmother to look after him. Poor boy, It probably feels worse when he comes back after the looking after he gets at home.Hehe.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-17 08:53:00
3031

My daughter and SIL took him to the airport for me. I slept from 2 in the afternoon until 7. After I had cleaned up and done the washing I was shattered. It is nice and quiet here now. Ha ha. Mean Nana!!!!! I tried to get that boy to get some warmer clothes but the young are so strange. I got him one sweatshirt, 10 prs sox, some undies and 2 pairs of shoes. I spent ages in the shops with him on Thursday but he did not like anything. Oh well tried my best. It is no use giving him money because he still won't buy clothes. My other grandson's are going to do the shop for his 21st in November.

makerealbany - 2010-08-17 20:12:00
3032

I know what you mean! When my daughter was out of work for a couple of months after her surgery they hit rock bottom financially and she had no warm clothes for winter. I took her shopping but only came home with slippers and a pair of boots, she didn't like any of the practical warm hoodies etc. It's our young people that are so unhealthy and keep the bugs going because they don't look after themselves. And then we get sick!!
I have the day off today as I. has a glaucoma test at the hospital this afternoon and he can't drive afterward. Thought I would catch up on some sleep and some baking this morning. Had a nice lie in but still feeling as if I'm walking on the edge of I. becoming very unwell again. It's like I spend every minute waiting for him to crash again, 'cos he is ver strssed again and working really long hours. Of course, all the promises made by his workers never happen in regards to sharing the weekend work and he has had a course to go to on 3 of his Tuesdays off. Absolutely ridiculous!

grizzly4 - 2010-08-18 09:16:00
3033

Hi girls i have been a bit off colour etc, I had a bung eye last week and it has come back this morning as well as a bung lip. I have had terrible sleep so this morning I crashed on the couch as dozed till 12. You girls have your share of troubles as well. Grizzly, I hope I is ok, I is so hard when you have the feeling something is going to happen. Makereal, I did get your message from facebook but I havent been on there to answer.

smartgirl - 2010-08-18 13:56:00
3034

We are wrecks at the moment aye girls. Mind you Grizzly appears to be the wellest of us all. I have used 2 boxes of tissues now and the cats are ducking my erratic tissue throwing into the rubbish bins. I think the darn pine dust is not helping either. I have never seen it so bad the cars are covered with it and even the windows of the cottage. I am isolated so as not to re infect the rest of the family. Poor you smartgirl!!! I knew something was going on.

makerealbany - 2010-08-18 18:46:00
3035

Grizzly he will crash if he does not take the time off. He has to take a stand. One cannot just work day in and day out without regular breaks. Shake him so he will listen. Oh I feel for you!!! It is like a weight sitting on your shoulders. Keep your chin up girl. Maybe it won't happen.

makerealbany - 2010-08-18 18:51:00
3036

You ladies really give me a boost when I check our stories each morning. I am sorry you haven't been well either, smartgirl. I touch wood while I type this but since I shifted to to the other side of town I've really only had two weeks of bad coughing and that was when I had a sinus infection! I still have to take my inhalers regularly even though somedays I don't cough at all, but I notice if I don't the next day is a bit more difficult. We shifted 4 months ago this week so you can imagine the relief I've had but I've been too scared to say much to anyone (unless they notice) in case it doesn't last. I'm a little concerned once the pollen season arrives but remain hopeful. It must have been the big Wattle tree we had on the neighbours which overhung our drive right by the back door at the last place!!!!!! I had heard these trees have a huge effect on asthmatics but in the end I coiuldn't get the doctors to say that it was that so couldn't end my lease on that house earlier. Two years, can you believe it?

grizzly4 - 2010-08-19 08:53:00
3037

I had a lovely day off yesterday. I made lots of comfort food! Haha. Chocolate chip cookies, a fruit cake, a peach dessert and a korma chicken & vege curry that is wrapped in filo and served with yoghurt. Lots of fun and still had time to do the hospital thing with I. and we had a lunch date at a local cafe as well. (Yep, more food) Thats the problem when I worry!!! But I did enjoy my day off.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-19 08:57:00
3038

Yes Wattle trees can cause havoc with your allergies. I am pleased the shift is beneficial to your health grizzly. Feeling more clear headed today.!!!! I read about all your lovely comfort food and thought"Yep that is what I need." Trouble is I cannot cook for anyone else with all my bugs. I may have to eat it all myself. Ha ha. I am going to cook myself a curry for tonight though. Just feel in the mood for a curry. I must say I have consumed vast quantities of food in this last week. !!!!!

makerealbany - 2010-08-19 13:06:00
3039

Well I got sick of knitting singlets so I just knitted a Beanie for my ex DIL. She has been induced tonight. My grandson who is nearly 21 is her only other child. I feel for her. What is with these girls having babies in their late 30s and early 40s?. I sent two crocheted blankets down for the wee chap with his big brother last week. She was thrilled and rang to thank me so I thought I would do a bit more for her as she lives in an old place in the country. It is so nice to knit with bigger needles. ha ha.

makerealbany - 2010-08-19 23:37:00
3040

I agree about the needles, strangely enough I am doing a child's size aran cardy in 12ply on 5mm needles. It's knitting up quite quickly but I think the yarn is a cotton so quite heavy. A bit of a change to the other stuff I have been doing.
The weather's not looking too good for the weekend, yet again, so still fidgeting to get into the garden. Sigh.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-20 08:12:00
3041

I look out into the garden and sigh as well grizzly. Does it ever need work but it is so wet and I am still taking it easy and resting up. I am back to the singlets today. Boring as!!!!!. I might sneak something else in again. My daughter asks me how the singlets are going. lol. I think that because I have knitted so many I am over them. By the by my cotton dishclothes I knitted for myself and everyone else are wearing quite well. I just wash them in the machine with the teatowels and they are holding their colours well. It is just the initial wash where they bleed a bit but the colours do not run. I might do one of those later tonight. I bought enough cotton to sink a battleship. Ha ha. I have been bidding on a few auctions lately. Got some good bargains too.

makerealbany - 2010-08-20 21:35:00
3042

Hey you guys! When was the last time you knitted something for yourself? It's been 3 years for me and I must admit it seems never ending doing something my size after baby stuff. Hehe.
Daughter and B2 aren't coming over today so I've got an unexpected day to myself till teatime. Hubby will be at work this afternoon and will probably have L3 overnight. There is a new Christmas shop opened in our local mall so will take him there tomorrow on the way to dropping him home.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-21 10:14:00
3043

I started a shawl but it is now in the ufo basket. My mission now is to learn to knit beautiful socks. I have decided to knit my girls fabulous socks in luxurious yarns for Christmas or at least their birthdays depending on how I go. If I miss Christmas their birthdays are Jan, Feb and April so that should be possible. I am off to get a pattern and some merino sock wool to knit my two little girls trial socks. I have never done them before so I will probably need some help.

smartgirl - 2010-08-21 10:42:00
3044

Hi Girls. Well I cannot remember when I knitted myself something except hats, scarves and dishcloths. Lol. Daughter and kids here for lunch. I cooked a Thai Curry, A cooked soup, scones and muffins. So we have just finished lunch and I can hardly move. Lol. Just missed out on an auction. Forgot it. Intend to spend the afternoon knitting. When you get the hang of the sox smartgirl, You can show me. I cannot get the circular sox thing sussed. It is like my brain refuses to accept it. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2010-08-21 13:15:00
3045

Daughter and kids stayed the night and I had an early wake up call by K. He loves the fish in my tank and thinks that early morning are to feed the fish. Lol. Got most of the washing nearly dry so that is finishing off inside. I have to wash my face with Non Lonic cream(Cetomagrocol) as my skin which is very thin has worn away with this bug and I cannot stand anything else on it. I have a clear head but my skin is burning. I have invested in the local Tissue factory and the Green Party would not want me as a member at this time. Apart from that I am fine. Lol.

makerealbany - 2010-08-22 14:25:00
3046

My daughter bought me a new hair drier which is really nice. My big one bit the dust and I had been using my small travel one, which took ages to dry my hair even though it is short. I am delighted. That was so thoughtful of her. She says hubby has the new bath in the 2nd bathroom and now she can bath K in a big bath finally. She has had a devil of a time bathing him every night. When he got too big for the baby bath she bought a large plastic sand pit shell and bathed him in that. It had to be emptied by bucket bailing. It was a backbreaking task. I am so pleased because it will be easier for us all. Who the hell would put two bathrooms in a house with just showers. Duh!!!!! That was the main objection she had when they bought that house and it has taken 4 years for her to get a bath!!!!!She has a lot more patience than I have. Bu --er that. The teenagers love showers but it is too hard with a little one. Ok rant over. I have had a really good day with my family. The cats have marched in now that I am the only one here again. They are very wary of the littlies. Can not understand why. Ha ha.

makerealbany - 2010-08-22 19:10:00
3047

I had a lovely day at a netball tournament with my daughter and eldest granddaughter, her team deservedly won. She is such a great little player who would love to be a silver fern and a magic player. She is nearly always one of the ball girls at any of the local big games which is great as she is mixing with those players. Now my sock is doing well. I am on the foot part now having mastered the heel and ankle shaping. Just got to master the toe and casting off. I started one for the little girls but then decided to undo it and do an adult one. The little one was a bit fiddly for a first timer.

smartgirl - 2010-08-23 09:26:00
3048

Excellent smartgirl. Well we will have to make time in the summer for me to learn how to knit sox. There is nothing like a live tutor I reckon ha ha. My eldest granddaughter that was soccer mad has now decided she is over playing. Mind you she is 15 and she has always played. She has always got into the regionals and Nationals. She also played for 3 teams every season which is far too much. Also her coach died after a long illness and J was devastated. It is hard for them to watch the changes appear over a 2 year period. I guess she just needed to step back from that environment after the death of her coach and friend. I am watching the line like a hawk as we have all the new blue baby things on the line. His dad has his room all renovated and ready. It is so cool to see little trains on the wall unlike M and her fairy dancers. Tee Hee. My SIL has been pruning and cutting down trees in the old orchard. Now we can see the neighbour's paddocks which is great.

makerealbany - 2010-08-23 15:14:00
3049

You two have been really busy! I had no family visiting over the weekend in the end and though I hate to say it- it was blissful for a change. I did lots of knitting and reading and gardening. I was in heaven. I even went with I. to his Remote control fliers club on Saturday night. He has a helicopter but there were fixed wing aircraft as well. They hire out Pioneer Stadium and it was great fun to watch. Looks like he will be saving up for a Mustang now as well so he can be part of both types of fliers. His toys are never ending. Easy for cHristmas and Birthdays, though.

grizzly4 - 2010-08-24 08:44:00
3050

Wow that was a cool weekend grizzly. Poor little M was taken to the doctors again today with an ear infection. He said her chest is fine though so all good. She is very subdued which is so unlike that bundle of mischief. SIL still cutting down trees and cutting up firewood. He is hacking away though. He is back overseas on Tues so fingers crossed. I have done some mending for the family and still knitting singlets. I have 7 weeks to go. Lol. Nice windy day here. Sun is out but it is chilly. Gardens are saturated so no use trying to clean up. Everything including the weeds have heaps of dirt and clay attached to them. Lol.
