Oh ferita and while you are at it you could also read Dr Bernstein's Diabetes solution and Michael and Mary Dan Eades Protein Power. then when you have finished that try Uffe Ravnskov's Fat and Cholesterol Are Good for You. You will soon understand that what is being said in the Food Lies thread about big pharma and big agra are well documented and historically validated.

Marielize could also give you further reading material should you be so inclined to educate yourself instead of scoffing like the village idiot from the sidelines.

Yeah - I can see Mwachelle having fun with the girly stuff.
I agree Toadie - Charlie is one special lady. Hope to get down and see you sometime!

Oh dear Winnie - you have picked a great time to arrive in Christchurch - we're just about under water here! Good weather for studying though and its not long until the daffodils are out in the park and Christchurch turns into a great place for wandering about. Since you're over the Linwood side of town I'd recommend the Lyttleton Saturday market for a pleasant wander. Maybe a coffee morning for the pink and fluffy brigade in Christchurch?

Winnie - that's a nice suggestion. But just take care as TM hate this sort of stuff and several of us have had many warnings from them about TMers getting in touch with one another. Stupid I know!

(can I roll my eyes again?)

Just the hypocrites are hypocritical. The rest are quite nice.

Done!
I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can go wandering.
Several markets on my list ... and parks ... and hills ... and Birdlings Flat!
Went to the Arts Centre & Art Gallery yesterday ... very pleasant to wander around :)

Winnie the Food Lies thread is about sharing knowledge about the current nutritional advice and for the most part that is how it stayed, but then ellihen, kay, fisher, ferita (all I can think of at present) decided they'd get in there and start jeering and throwing insults and criticism. I too would prefer it if they kept their remarks to nutrition and the current advice dished out by our health watchdogs but they are having much more fun being belligerent.

Now I know you want me to go away, and I will, just as soon as they leave the Food Lies thread in peace and stop attacking me personally.

All this from someone who takes diet advice from a journalist.

winnie - when does your Course start?

My course starts Sept 20th ... I moved early so I could be settled by then. It's called full-time study but the classes are only 1-5 M-F so should be too hard!

Oh dear fisher. I specifically said that not all posters in this thread were hypocrites. Only you and a few others. You have used other threads to pass snidey comments. A hypocrite is some one who says one thing and does another. I think that pretty much sums up your attitude toward me.

Now, charlie has asked that this thread be kept friendly, in the way that I ask that the Food Lies thread get on with its function without nasty jibes and petty and trivial personal or irrational comments. I will go away from here if you want but not until ellihen and her mates gather up their mean spirited postings and cart it away to either another thread or just cart it away.

Why don't you start a Let's Bully Buzzy thread and take all of that garbage that you and your mates are dishing out and put it all in there. Show yourselves for the bully boys you really are.

buzzy110 - 2010-08-08 18:29:00

And elli, I won't answer you in the Food Lies thread anymore.

Hiya fisher ... how's that winterless north?
Getting it together here slowly ... even went out to a singles night Friday lol! Never done anything like it in my life but it was actually alot of fun!!! Good way to make friends - both male & female. No romance in sight but plenty of time for that!!!

vintagekitty - what a grotty job!!! Hope you have a nice vino to reward yourself with!

Now I'm unbanned (thanks to who ever did that!) just want to join in to say hi to all the familiar names from over the years.

Things to remember: What a wealth of knowledge we have shared, what riches of treasured family recipes we have given out so generously. What friendships we have built, virtual and real and overlapping between the two! And isn't that what a love of food is all about, no matter what we personally choose to cook, or how?

:)

Charlie, I was banned for one month and my posts removed for that time too. This was despite having already been warned and then behaving to the letter of the law. Ah well, it's not as though I didn't have a life and a pile of other things to do!

When you find one, let me know if he has an older brother. I think I could do with a sugar daddy. .

It wouldn't help ellie - Pakawau is a tiny seaside settlement with very few full time residents ... besides - my cat doesn't like strangers at all so wouldn't have gone to anyone else.
But thanks for caring about her :)

Hi Pam,
it sounds like you're having a great but full on time over there.
The meal you described (in the dinner thread) at Meccabah has me thinking I'll have to find a middle eastern restaurant here in Chch to celebrate once I'm settled ...

I had decided on an apartment - BUT - over the weekend, that nagging little voice inside kept telling me it wasn't quite right so yesterday I rang & withdrew my interest.
It was only 1 brm & it would be much better for me to have 2 brms for when miss 13 comes down to visit.
I think I was rushing, caught up in the buzz of starting new ... but I made a check list of what I want in an apartment, and I need to be patient till the place that ticks all the boxes comes along.
I'm going to look at a couple of places today, then meeting
a guy I met at the singles night (ref earlier post) for a drink this evening. He's no sugar daddy though folks!
