re No 250.. - First day or release of CALS Don, I have made extreme efforts to label these as first day of release of CAL packs. They obviously include some stamps/Cals issued and used elsewhere by the issuers but certainly some of the CALS on these covers will be first day of use anywhere, anytime. You are being mischevious in referring to them as FDC's as everybody else is at pains to not label them that way!

Fun times Thanks Don. all the best to you too. I've been in the stamp business game since 1968 (full time since 1973) and it has always been a great adventure full of fun and interest. The CAL's are the latest in a series of interesting developments. I could never have immagined back in 1968 that I would be able to design a stamp in my office and send it electronically to the Post Office who would then print it off so i could use it on my own mail. Amazing stuff indeed!

Catalogue listing for CAL's. Len Jury who listed the CAL's in his 2008 catalogue should have known that NZ Post were going to release a quantity of all the 2007 CAL's in early 2008. NZ Post advertised this fact a year ago so I can't understand why Len put such a silly price of $25 each on CALs which would soon be sold at face value by NZ Post? now $25 for a block of 4 or a used example postmarked on cover before the following year might (I repeat might) be worth that.

stak..... a CAL free interlude Flaws on cover are not really priced in the catalogues.
Something like 2003 Xmas with fern missing, On Cover, would fetch a reasonable price I bet, but the 1963 Xmas with nosebag flaw,On Cover,is just not in the same league.Mind you it only takes two interested bidders to push up the auction price.

#249 Toyota Cal etc Yes, Don, it is nice to see all the activity. I was thinking last night I daresay there will be a few people who issued a CAL during the year who will start dreading their phone ringing soon. I'm just off the phone from NZ Post, having asked for a few details. I figure there are 3 Cals where the customer is NZ Post, add ? Toyota to that too perhaps, and there are two or three others that I am wondering about also. I am looking forward to hearing back from NZ Post with their reply.

Hell Pizza CAL's Looking at those 2008 CAL's sold on trademe,recently, as full sets on cover...I can not see a 50 cent Hell Pizza one amongst them. So I guess there was only the 45 cent one made which was back in 2006.

Willy( Hells Pizza 50c) Had a look at one of the covers today as I was in Stevens shop and from memory I saw 4 hells pizza 45c,50c,1.00 and 1.50.Steven can confirm this or alter at his discretion.

Hell's Pizza. Hell's Pizza is certainly not in the 2007 CAL pack. the only Hell's Pizza stamp is the 45 cent one issued in the previous Pack. I'd guess that it actually was issued in 2006 and not 2007 as shown in the Len Jury catalogue. Perhaps people with used copies can check the dates on any postmarked examples acquired before the release of the first cal pack in early 2007. If anyone wants to check the exact composition of the latest 2007 CAL Pack (issued in 2008) they can see it in large size on my web page at http://www.newzeal.com/steve/2007CalPack.htm

Let's not let Ivor Masters decide what is called a stamp and what isn't. Remember that the world's first stamps, the GB 1d black and 2d blue were originally called Lebels so these cals are in good company!

NO 50 cent ones.
I wrote in my book that the issue date for Hell Pizza 45c CAL was approx 19/11/2006. ( ex some newsletter ? )
I remember there was a drama over Hell Pizza issuing condoms around the same time,to advertise their meat lovers pizza.
However my oldest Hell Pizza cal on cover is actually dated 26/3/2007 and was from last years cal pack.
Maybe someone else has one with an earlier date...

45c Hells Pizza - from NZ Post Collectables info: Date Produced: 18 November 2006. I don't have it on cover prior to the 06 cal pack being issued. Talking of Hell collectables, I have now decided my collection is very incomplete. I need that ever so controversial Hell condom to add a bit of interest to my CAL collection. Has anyone got one spare to list? Please? ;-)

sorry for being a pain but i was just wondering if someone could tell me if there was any value in minature sheets of the princess of wales. i promise this is the last one ill ask..

it is 1985 nz 25c minature sheet with 6 pictures celebrating prince harrys birth with harry, william, diana and charles poseing for pics. perfect condition still in plastic it came in.
i also have one with andrew and fergie from 1989 minature sheet with birth of beatrice. nz 40c postage, 3 c childresn health.
both minature sheets.
im guessing they dont have value due to being mass produced was just wondering if diana stuff etc was valuable at all.

296 nicky What do ya mean a pain....If no one chats in this stamp place each day it will have no purpose.1985 Royal m/sheets have a retail value of Mint $3 used $6 BUT m/sheet on a FDC (First day Cover) has a value of $25.......1989 Royal m/sheet has a retail value of Mint $7 used $7. Once again M/sheet on FDC has a better cv of $20.
At an auction these MIGHT go for 'UP TO' 50% of cv (catalogue value)
