I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
251

I have 12 60 L bins of wool and just looking at i might have to get another one soon. Hubby is getting a man shed built which means all the tool kits etc can be cleared out of the garage and i can move my stash in there - at the moment it is threating to take over our office. I have also been told in no uncertain terms that I am not allowed to start storing my wool in his shed - it is strictly for tractors only!

Wow I can't wait to tell my husband how much stash everyone has - he thinks I have way too much, but it's nothing compared to some of you lol.
(I do confess that with my sewing, knitting, cross stitch, jewellery making, card making, crochet etc., - I currently have 2 bedrooms full of stuff though).
Time for a big tidy up as we found out yesterday our earthquake repairs will begin on 11th Feb! We are not moving out as we have 3 cats and 3 dogs - contractor has offered to do house in two parts so we can live in half while they do the rest etc. But I think we will hire a campervan for the duration and put it in the back yard - just in case.
My knitting will NOT be getting packed away lol.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

maible I thought I had a lot of stash but after seeing/hearing what some of these ladies have, I need to increase it - lol. I also cross-stitch and am just getting in to card making as well.

I am not looking forward to earthquake repairs - well mine is basically rooms being painted and floor tiles to be replaced. I know it has to be done but I'm not looking forward to packing everything up etc. I am going to ring them next week and see if there is any way they can pay me out. I am just over the threshhold for pay out.

I don't sell them armin. The pattern is very easy. I'll type it out later and put it up here if you like. I don't think I will be breaking any copyright rules in case someone jumps on me - lol, as the pattern is on a plain piece of paper and nothing else on it !

Love the colours in that beanie pats. Our repairs are mainly painting and a bit of floor work too, plus repairing interior and exterior cracks. We would have liked to be paid out too, but I don't think they're doing that any longer. It will be a hassle but at least it will be done finally. And then.... back on to the battle re concrete block boundary fences *sigh*.
Oh well some knitting will cheer me up:)
Thanks for the pattern too xo

Don't tell campbellmum, but I have my eye on several batches of wool she has in her stash. Surely she won't miss several balls of each colour in amongst all that will she???? But she has kindly offered to help me sort the stuff after we move so she can find my stash of knitting patterns - haven't seen them for over two years so will be great to be able to get at them again.

oooo that looks lovely whiskey13! I've saved the ravelry cap pattern to my library on there and hope to get one or two knitted up too :-) Can see my older girls wanting them as well.
Actually...I wonder if the Cancer Society could do with knitted Chemo Caps??..They are so hard to find when you are undergoing thereapy.
Does anyone know of a group who does this???

Love the cap whiskey. Hope you enjoyed your cabbage. I agree, it made the perfect model.

*Runs off to get pattern from Ravelry*

Will be interested in any responses you get ixcelm8. I don't know of any groups. Is there a particular pattern they like?

Just thinking about that pats3....Actually night time is the worst time (while you are sleeping). You loose alot of heat via the head, so even a light 4ply style cap would be good.
Turban types are good during the day...and there are fun and funky ones about. But a nice cap such as the one you have just made would be lovely to wear.
But even just to have one to wear duing the day at home, so you didn't have to fuss with a wig etc.
There were days I know that an easy fix to the "no hair prob" was what you preferred.

Thanks guys. My friend is going throu chemo at the moment and she doesn't wanna wear a hat/cap as it will itch her head. I could ask her to try my cap on and ask her if it would be better in a cotton yarn (not wool) and then maybe she could ring the place where she got her wig made. See if they may have a need for the caps. Worth asking maybe?

How's everyone's weekend going? Looks like rain here today so good excuse to stay inside and knit.
Love that hat whiskey - nice job.

I have finally finished one sock! The best part - it actually fits my foot! I shall finish the mate in due course.

Morning everyone...

Ohh what lovely knitting there is here. I love all of it. Ill take a photo of wilf later with an update.

Decided to check the mailbox last night to see if there was any junk mail and the posty had been late. There was my last pattern book and ball of wool from Deramores. So it was all here in a week.
And the results from my eye check. All clear, the diabetes hasnt affected them at all yet.

So this morning I will put the new book in the folder, I want to get some form of order in them.
Sunday for some reason is always my busy day too. Havifn to do rubbish and recycles and general tidying up.
But I will have the needles busy too. I think I would go absolutely potty if I couldnt knit.

Have a good day all

I knit chemo caps - found these patterns to be awesome and easily adjustable for sizing and ply
http://www.craftsy.com/user/121931/pattern-store
she has 24 chemo cap patterns for $3 but has free patterns to download as well.
I drop them off to the local oncology department - they must all be individually sealed in plastic bags (no handling). For the younger chemo patients I knit a little teddy to match the cap.
I also knit for the local NICU as well - I donate a lot of my knitting :-)

I just want to say, I have held out commenting in this thread, as I knew it would be my downfall, but on Friday, it all got to much for me, and I placed another order with Deramores, I have been so strong up until I started reading this thread - and I had to buy the lastest colour in touch yarns from Brendamyl - and yesterday I got grabbed kicking and screaming into the Wool Company at Utiku, and forced to buy some wool, before I could leave. You ladies are to blame, for talking about all the delicious yarn that is around.

Yes Carol, it was a terrible experience lol. I bought some sky blue corriedale to knit the free hooded jacket pattern that Deramores gave out last week. I haven't tried their corriedale before, but it feels softer than the perendale was. I was actually quite disciplined, I walked in bought the wool and then walked out, without looking at the beautiful 4ply merino, usually I can't resist looking, and as soon as I look I buy, so I was actually quite proud of myself. It would have been lovely to stay in there too, they had the air con going and it was beautiful and cool. I had husband and 2 grandkids waiting out in the blistering heat, so that hurried me up too.

Ohhh dear, mrs R, not good at all. But Hey youw ere strong at utiku so need to be congratulated.
Its funny I have been healed of one adiction. That being that as soon as I see the spotlight adverts pop up I have to stop and listen.
I ignore them now.

And here was me thinking a few years ago, I wonder how long it will be before we dont have to leave home to get everything we need to buy. Like food Wool, clothing etc. Theres not much need to venture out the doors in there.
We are getting Americanised soo quickly. lol

Ha, ha, ha - too funny. Now, I am going to go and see if I can find a site for the Wool Company at Utiku and if I buy anything, it will be YOUR fault - LOL, LOL.

Still at my friend's place in the country (Loburn). Beautiful day here. Going home tomorrow and have next week off work as well. Hope to get more knitting and cross-stitch done and tidy my craft room / office which I have been procrastinating over for 12 months !!!

The website you are wanting pats3 is the wool company (as all one word) followed by dot co dot nz. I get my posts removed if I put links, and get a growling from trade me, so hope you can work it out. Their merino is beautiful, and very reasonably priced. - Have any of you looked at Garn Studio? They have some nice patterns on there. I have a cupboard full of folio boxes, which are full of patterns, - pattern books, leaflets, downloaded free ones, - ones I have bought off the net. Similar addiction to my wool one.

Gosh, Im going to find an excuse to drive down to Utiku. And to think years ago I used to live in Ohakune and at least once a week go to Taihape, and I didnt know that wool shop was close by. I see it on the internet, but nothing like seeing the real thing, ay?

Hi my name is nzmu and I am a knit-aholic..... sorry nannymaid - I'm no help. I have to restrain myself and that's no easy task.

Hi, my name is Carol (also referred to as "shortstuff", "the short fat one" and many other terms of endearment such as "sawn off penguin") and I'm a woolaholic too. I'm not looking for a cure, I'm looking for more hours in the day to knit/crochet and more space in the spare bedroom to store my stash.

My arms, hands and fingers are sore, but sadly not from using wool, but sandpaper and paintbrush. Oh, but the house is starting to look good, seeing as we've been here 6 years next weekend and it needed redecorating when we bought it. We've made a start, but still quite a long way to go.

'funny' how they do that lol.

jord37 - Patternfish is too easy lol.
Register, put items in basket, pay (I use paypal), you get directed to a download link which opens the file as a PDF, save, print, knit.
They also have a wishlist option which I use. There are a couple of NZ designers/manufacturers that sell there.

Not at all 8_is_enough. Everybody welcome - the more the merrier. Not every post gets a response. We're all knitters, so we're a friendly bunch, lol.

I had a look at the member you mentioned. I noted that she sells mainly Ashford products and I can get any of their products either here in Christchurch or an hour away in Ashburton.

Please join in the thread whenever you like.

By the way - probably a silly question but I note you breed a particular type of rabbit. I don't know the first things about rabbits, but are you able to spin/knit their fur?

Im the shortest in my family and shrinking.. but now 5' 6". I dont get called shorty. My stepfather always called me popeye, due to having good eyesight to find tiny things he had dropped and that I dont like spinach etc, and MrP calls me Jack. Lol

I got the shorts and pocket finished yesterday along with the little vest thing and started on the big sailor collar that Wilf has.
Going to the library today to figure out how to use this e-reader I got at christmas time.

Have a good day all
