I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
2901

well so much for stitching... MrK with chainsaw in hand asked me to 'sit on the step and keep an eye on me please while I cut these two branches down'.... ok I say.... two hours later the tree is cut down and another one pruned and I've dragged all the branches into the paddock for burning lol. It was so close to power lines and had to come down but just wasn't planning on doing it today!
Will have my shower and I might get some stitching done!
Happy knitting :)

Lol Kiwimade, hope you both had sunscreen on.. Its warm out there.

There was me thinking yay Ive finished the Santa and Mrs Claus, after Id glued the eyes on.. sitting there looking at them and thought something was missing. lol it was the holly and berries on Mrs Claus. Have knitted them and will sew them up and add after tea.

So two weeks to make the pair. Which is good going for me.

And Im pleased to say I think continuing to do the sewing etc has kept my wrist moving and its feeling a bit better now.
If Id stopped and rested it, it probably would have seized up and be aching.

Back to my blanket tonight.. Yayay.

Very hot here today in Clyde and another one tomorrow.
Today I got my $1 a ball pure wool from Skeinz. They had a 1 day special on 1 random colourway - greens and yellows. Thrilled with it but I don't need anymore wool. lol. They have these 1 day specials every now and then. Too hot to knit tonight - maybe another sleepless night.

I was very tempted with that $1 a ball offer from Skeinz but had already just bought some possum/merino sock wool, some possum/merino 8 ply (well two lots actually) and erm, it's not as though I actually need any wool, so I was very strong. Not going to buy any more wool until next year.

morning ladies :) Out and about for me today, am having a towbar fitted to the car - my Christmas pressie lol. I know, it's a wierd gift but if I have to tow a trailer to Wellington in January, then I'm driving my car not MrK's truck which means we need another towbar. Handy to have anyway and I miss having one.

So no stitching for me today I would guess.

happy knitting :)

Ta-Da... Finished. They took two weeks so not bad really.

Morning everyone. Its overcast here but not too hot and not too cool.

Cool Christmas present Kiwimade.. I wouldn't want to drive a different vehicle with a trailer either.

Back to my blanket now.. I just have to figure how Im going to sew it. Id like it to be easy. but I also don't know what colour to use cos its going to show on the reverse side. I might have to just go with the dark blue as that's the biggest colour, but its going to show on the light blue and lemon.

Your going to be knitting shrugs in your sleep Carole lol

Have a good day everyone

Raining here, and cold - yesteday I was getting sunburned to a crisp while gardening and putting more stain on the deck, today we have the heat pump on (mind you we both feel the cold). Looks like being a good day to settle down to some serious knitting.

Enjoy your day.

morning girls, popeye I should NOT be paying her bills , she's 43 and should be paying her own bills . I do it for the wee ones sake now watch my stalker tell her what I wrote. just make my days get worsts I am cold and it's raining , I have sewing to do, sat up till 12am knitting so I get the orders out, I got a camera flash on Monday so more money to pay out, I just hate December off back to finish this shrug

morning! Tow bar on my car so now I can tow trailers etc. Have really missed having one.

Wet and damp here so looks like the fourth tree lives for another day. It's going to be a huge job to get it this one cut down as it is bigger than the others. But, we'll get there. Better than having it take out the power lines.

I can't knit/stitch until that late carole, I'm knackered by the end of the day lol and I'll be lucky to knit/stitch until just after the news.

Will be a good day for stitching today I think, might even sneak in some Christmas baking too.

Happy knitting :)

morning
Oh dear Carole hope the bill situation gets sorted ok - have a few to sort out this am too but only expected ones hate the unexpected payouts.
Will take a walk into town (about an hour) so hope the weather behaves itself rain predicted but not until late pm.

Hope I can get a bit of knitting done later - still not finished the little cardy it seems to be going on and on and on this time.

wet here again, my runner beans are loving it and growing like crazy. I had a nap yesterday afternoon, most unusual for me, went to bed at 3.30 'cos I could hardly keep my eyes open and slept till 5.30. When I woke and looked at the clock and realised I was alone in bed I thought "mr K is up early" then I realised it was still daylight and the penny dropped that it was time to get up and cook tea. Felt much better for it, but I didn't get so much knitting done. Might go to knitting today even though the weather isn't all that great. It's an excuse to get out of the house and I need to check the mail and post some Christmas cards (reluctantly - I'd prefer to send none, especially overseas but I feel guilty when I start receiving them). Might take my 10 stitch blanket, otherwise I'll have to start something "no think" to take.

Try to make the best of the day ladies. Sorry about your problems carolev, hope you get it sorted.

Morning all. Yep raining here, but its warm.

Carole you are going to have to say no... I know the reasons why you do what you do. But till you start saying know, the person isn't going to learn to stand on their own two feet. they need to take responsibility and learn to pay their own stuff.
bet you didn't have a Mother Bank you could run to when you didn't pay bills etc when you were young.
Have decided to print my spotlight voucher off and go and get a nice wool to knit the jacket that Kiwimade sent me the pattern of. years since I knitted myself something, other than a hat or scarf lol
Have about 2 dozen rows on my lemon strip of blanket to go. then the last blue one. Its been nice just sitting and knitting without having to think about it.
Going to be a hot job sewing it together lol

Have a good day.

popeye333 - 2013-12-04 08:48:00
2916

Wow I did well at spotlight.
I got 25% all the wools I wanted and the $40 off so got $147 worth of wool for $71... Now that's a bargain..

Couldn't decided out of red or white for the jacket Kiwimade, so I got both lol.. Only acrylic but its really soft. Got a couple of variegated baby wool to knit Addison yes Addison the baby next door a wee jumper for winter.
I don't know why the left the M off her name but its still pretty.
So now I can happily finish my blanket knowing exactly what Im doing next. And its years since I knitted something for myself to wear.

morning all. I have a busy day ahead of me with sewing, still wet outside. we my diabetes clinic went well. sugars dropped so has colestrol but she upped my long lasting insulin. I got a new gardener older woman that's very good , so can get more impations

carolev - 2013-12-05 06:55:00
2920

morning ladies :) That's good news carole about your sugar levels, well done! And great about your new gardener too, helps lots when they know what to do.
Can't wait to see that pattern knitted up popeye :) one day I will get around to doing some knitting or sewing for me lol.
Damp and grey outside so the tree lives for yet another day. If it is going to rain then I'll clean out the pantry and clean the kitchen ceiling this morning while mrK is at his exercise class. Now he has retired, he's turned into one nosey buggar lol and likes to 'check' on what I'm doing when it is out of the ordinary. Drives me bonkers! But he is making me a wooden serviette holder and it's looking lovely so far.
Should get some stitching done today, am aprox one eighth of the way through. It's stop, start, stop, start... as sometimes you only stitch one or two stitches then have to change colour. Better be worth the effort lol.
Happy knitting :)

morning ladies, very damp here this morning as in it's raining, very fine misty rain, but rain all the same. Rained just about all day yesterday. I went to the knit and natter session yesterday - took my 10 stitch blanket with me, but hadn't done many rows before I noticed I had 12 stitches, so had to unpick a few rows, seems I had done two rows with an increase but no decrease. This one is for charity, and I think I'm going to run out of one of the colours before I finish it. I thought I had another ball, but it appears I don't. Not sure what to do. At the moment it is zig-zag stripes, of dark mauve, pale green, light mauve, pale green, dark mauve, pale green, light mauve, and I had planned to do another pale green, dark mauve, pale green, light mauve but I don't think I have enough green to finish. I'll put up a pic later and ask for some advice. I'm thinking I might have to add a purple at each end or something????

Meantime I suppose I should do some housework and might even think about doing the ironing which has been staring at me for days, and might even take advantage of the wet weather to do some sewing - might start on new curtains for our bedroom - see how energetic I feel.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone.
We had heaps of rain yesterday and plenty overnight too. Not raining at present but its going to be a wet hot humid day..
Its funny that we never get around to doing something for ourselves. My blanket is for me tho. But not quite the same as knitting something to wear eh.
I finished the lemon strip last night and have cast on for the final blue one. Its 5 months now along with everything else that I have knitted at the same time. bit like making a quilt by hand lol.. I don't really mind how long it has taken. But will be thrilled when its finished.
I will take a photo too when Ive woven the strips together cos I am quite unsure how to sew it together. At the moment my head thinks to just use the dark blue since that's the main colour really. But one of you ladies may have a far better idea. sometimes I don't have the best logical mind and take a while to get the simplest way to do things into my head.

Have to go waste money on food this morning... lol

Kiwimade MrP is like that too, checking to see what Im doing, and not doing anything he thinks I shouldn't be, or shouldn't be able to cos Im a woman lol.. hence I now sneak away and do things quietly till Im caught lol

Have a good day... A good day for sitting crafting while the rain hydrates the gardens

Please send some of your rain to Central Otago. We badly need it. We are watering every evening. It is another hot day. We had 31deg. in our back yard yesterday and today it is meant to be 29deg. Haven't done any knitting for a few days but hope to get back into it this weekend After my patchwork group have their Xmas party.

morning all. spent yesterday sewing and knitting, got over tired and found I couldn't sleep so sat knitting till mid night. so today I feel down. got lots more sewing to do a more shrugs , my poor 10 stitch blanket has not seen me for days, wet again here but I need to do some washing, running out of undies.

morning :) oucchhhh ffloss, that's hot! Your poor garden! I had trees stressing already a week ago - my cherry tree just was not growing leaves at all. Yesterday's rain was just perfect - all day rain! Can see weeds where I weeded two days ago already lol.
Spent a lot of yesterday stitching and can see some progress now. I highlight the pattern to show where I have been (copied the page so I don't ruin the pattern). Am using a different colour highlighter to show what I have done recently and it's quite surprising. Still have mileeessss to go though.
If the day clears up I'll be weeding and spraying weedkiller (need to get paths etc done) otherwise it will be an inside day doing housework and stitching/knitting.
Happy knitting :)

We ended up with sun yesterday, late in the day. And no rain overnight. Its warm tho and overcast.
Yay mrPs first surgery date is here. They are going to do his head next week. I sooo hope it works for him so he will live without the nasty pain.
Didn't feel like knitting yesterday. I did some but I kept getting up and doing other things lol.
This morning we are going to Pukekohe to get the new cds for the year, Susan Boyle, SoleMio and the new Il divo if I can find it. Plus a pressie for the BIL and some smellies for MrP.
Have a good day all

Very sad to hear the news of Nelson Mandela passing away - at 95 years of age though I think he deserves some peace of his own now.
Been stitching again today - sheesshh three hours and I've only done a tiny bit. All these colour changes are about to do my head in. But as my daughter keeps reminding me, 'it will look awesome when done, Mum' lol. I'll have to scan the picture I'm stitching so you can see what I'm going on and on and on and on.... about :)

Morning everyone.

Yes Kiwimade they are staying right here. And will be put on display today since Im doing the tree and decorations today. I know I will love it when done but its just the standing for a couple of hours in the high humidity that's putting me off. 20 degrees already with 71% humidity.

Ohh Carole not good re the blanket.. Hope you can get it sorted out.

Kiwimade I got rid of Most of my cross stitch stuff, too hard for me to see now. but I know what you mean re it taking so long to do so little. Especially if its a patch with oodles of colours. do you keep several needles on the go at once? I found that easier than stopping to thread them all the time.

Yes Nelson Mandela has earnt his long sleep well and truly. His smile will stay etched in my memory.

morning ladies, very overcast here and feels "damp" with the high humidity and looking at last nights weather map, I'd say we will have rain before too long, so the lawns won't get done today and they are already needing a haircut - speaking of which I coloured and cut my hair last night and feel much better now, it was getting too long and driving me nuts.

Yesterday I received two balls of possum/merino which I had bought on here. I hadn't intended to buy any more yarn of any description but when I saw this (it's the same as the tunic I'm plodding away at for next winter) I thought it would be enough to make a pair of fingerless gloves and a bow-knot scarf to go with the tunic, so the batch and dye lot weren't important so I didn't bother to ask before buying. Well I couldn't believe my eyes when it arrived and it is the exact same batch and dye number. What are the chances of that happening I wonder? Bet if it was needed to complete the tunic it would have been a different batch.

I decided to use pale blue on my zigzag 10 stitch blanket where I've run out of pale green, but can't decide whether to add the stripes at just one end, or put stripes at both ends. Decisions, decisions. No wonder I'm going grey!

Hope to get a parcel away to BFB early next week, and then it's back to my tunic, and I might even try to finish the denim bag I started about 13 or more years ago. I've since (accidentally I might add) used the fabric which was set aside for the straps for something else without realising and now don't have any of the same colour denim, so might have to somehow do a contrast. Any ideas?

Have a great day everyone. Happy knitting.

morning ladies :) Am glad they are staying with you popeye, all that work! Yes I keep different needles on the go but one stitch of a blended colour grrr... lol. Still, I'm up for the challenge.

carole, I hope you can fix the stretching, what a pain in the butt!

Wow kuaka, that's amazing about the batch numbers! I've never seen that happen before. Maybe a nice bright tartan for your bag? I'm making a denim tote bag and lining it with some red tartan I have in my quilting stash (soooo many different stashes lol).

Have just come in from weeding and finally got it all finished. Just need a nice calm day to spray the concrete and around where we park the cars. Am pleased as punch with the garden, have quite a few biggg gaps but family are giving us garden couchers for Christmas and I have a box of plants coming from daughter's mother-in-law. So it won't take long to fill the spaces! The tree will come down over the next few days which will lighten up one corner too.

Time for my cuppa (whre is MrK, he's supposed to be making it lol) and then I'll wipe all around the door frames.

happy knitting.

Morning all,
overcast day here but pleasant as not over hot as yet - been out and now enjoying a coffee before starting a couple of Christmas cakes - I make them for presents.

Good on you Popeye getting on with the decorating - mine can wait a bit longer.
Brought more wool yesterday - went to get some for one item but ended up with enough for 3 as well as downloading a pattern from Ravelry so now have enough to keep me going for a bit longer.
Have a good day

Everyone is getting busy.

Its rained and has cooled down a lot.

The decorations are done. A very teary time of it today. But I knew yesterday the hormones are playing up.

Wow Kuaka that's amazing and meant to be I reckon. Will spur you on a bit with the tunic too I bet.
Kiwimade do you have a large section with all the gardening? I wish I liked it in a way. Plus the fact that dirt gives me excema and I don't like wearing gloves. I must deadhead our roses tho. They look terrible.
Jayemtoo I think giving cakes as presents is lovely. I used to but no one up here likes fruit cakes.
Ive had them go to Rarotonga and Thailand .

Time for a relax now and some knitting when Im done on here.

Have a good day all

Morning everyone... bit of a mixed bag weather wise out there today I think. We have a lovely cooler breeze this morning.
Another busy day for me today. have to nip up the shop shortly. but browning some meat for the crockpot first. Then to do the rubbish, litter box and recycles.
Then I shall put away all the boxes from the Christmas decorations yesterday.
Am getting on with my last strip of blanket. I think I shall miss it when Im finished.
Had better check MrPs hospital bag too. Make sure that has what he may need. haven't got a clue how long he will be in for, I know one night but am thinking it might be a second one, depending on how things go. Id rather be over prepared than not since its Auckland hospital he's going to. so further away.
Hope everyone is managing a rest time to stitch during this busy time of year. Im kinda pleased we don't have Christmas do's to go to. means we can gently slide through the season without too much stress.

Have a good day all

afternoon ladies :) Have had a busy morning waterblasting the house, garage, pump shed and outdoor furniture. Finished just as the heavens opened so good timing!
Yes, popeye, we have a big(ish) section with a reasonably large garden. We bought it off a friend whose mum owned it before she passed away. The garden hasn't really 'felt' like mine for several years now so I have done very little to change it. Weird huh, I mean we own the property but for some reason I just felt I couldn't change the garden around. Always felt my friend's mum was around somewhere.
But this year I decided to buck up and get on with the changes we wanted to make. Not working full time has had it's upside with me being able to spend more time out there.
When I weeded for the first year we moved in, I had 9 (yes NINE!) piles of weeds the same height as me (I'm 5'4!), now I'm down to half a dozen wheelbarrow loads if I am lucky. This year, we have pulled plants out and chopped down trees and made huge changes. After six years, the garden finally feels like mine (ok, ours lol). Daft I know, but it really was the wierdest feeling when out in the garden.
My garden is another creative outlet for me and a great way of working out frustrations too. And I solve the world's problems while out there lol.
Will get some stitching done this afternoon, think I have earned the sit-down!
Happy knitting :)

Not weird at all Kiwimade. when we brought my parents house I couldn't change anything in the gardens cos Jimmy (stepfather) had planted it all with love and care.
We didn't change a thing. but new owners have ripped it apart. Its now a minimalistic desert looking place now.
Only have the pill trays to do and Im done for the day too.
Tea is smelling sooo good. Mutton in the crockpot. I find this time of year hard to decide what to eat. I try to keep things light and simple for the lead up to Christmas. Will mutton etc being so dear I wait till I cant stand the wait any longer and tonight is it. We will have a good meal of it.
I see New World has bolar roasts for $7-99 a kilo this week. I will get a decent size roast. And then try and talk MrP into having it on Christmas day. One reason being it can go in the crockpot and be forgotten about.
Ill be knitting once Im finished on here too. One sure way of making sure I relax a wee bit. lol

Lol Carol, you must have switched onto Autopilot and got lost somewhere along the way.
That's a lot of work to get done.
Im all done now, so can concentrate on MrP tomorrow. He will wake up and be grumpy tomorrow and the following morning, and that's fear, of the unknown of what will happen on Wednesday for his surgery.
He wont be much fun to live with for the next couple of days.
My reward will be KFC for my tea on Tuesday, not that I will tell him of course.
I wonder why men weren't created equal when it comes to managing pain, us Women are a heck of a lot tougher I reckon. or we don't complain as much anyway lol. not that he complains he just gets grumpy with the world and everything in it.
Well best go do his insulin. hate doing that cos if it hurts... That's my fault too lol

morning ladies :) Oven cleaning today... ickkkkk lol but won't take long to do. We're also swapping bedrooms around so daughter and her wee family have a bigger room when they come to stay. Also need to burn all the garden waste - mainly the tree we cut down - some time this week.

Gosh you are busy carole, those orders are certainly piling up! Your garden will love you and your gardening lady lol, nothing more satisfying as seeing those weeds going.

Should be able to get some stitching done this afternoon, seem to have a 'routine' lol. Almost finished the bit with all the quarter stitches.

Happy knitting :)

Today is tread carefully day. But I have heaps I want to do.

I must ring the lawn mowing man to let him know I have the money for the gardening. Not that it will look much better. The bulk of it will be sprayed.
I have to trim around the vines and deadhead the roses, they all turned badly with the rain.
Ill pop back in when I have a break. Have a good day ladies

Morning everyone.
Always a hard decision eh Carole. At least you know you will make money on the machine. Would you be selling one? that would return some of the money to the coffers?
Im close to half way on my last strip of blanket. been busy getting my list of jobs to do.
I will take it with us today. No doubt there will be plenty of waiting time at the hospital. Will give them a call mid morning to check no emergencies have come in and put him down the list again. I cant imagine he will be happy if that happens.
How did the new gardener work out yesterday Carole?
Have a good day everyone... Think of me driving in the rat race today.

yes! yes! yes! buy it! buy it! lol, you could trade your old machine in and so reduce the price and ommgg carole, you sell your sewing so you make a few $$ which also start balancing out the price. My janome was $1500 30 years ago so $3000 today isn't too bad. Well that's my reasoning anyway!

have been outside since 6.30am making the most of a calm morning burning all the garden waste and spraying the last of the weeds. Now I'm going to get more petrol for the mower and get the lawns done. MrK is doing dishes etc for me which is great!

Will get some stitching done this afternoon - thinking of you popeye! Watch your speed - the police have been having a field day catching speedsters outside our home over the last few days.

Happy knitting :)

Hi Mom Im Home lol.
One husband deposited nicely at Auckland Hospital. no grumpies from him, re my driving. lol.
He was absolutely worn out by the time we walked in. I left him getting ready to go for an chest xray then he would see the dr.
No trouble with traffic on the way home so Im very pleased.
I didn't take my knitting, I should have but I thought it best to pander to his needs lol.
I thought Bobcat might be looking for him but he hasn't bothered yet lol.
Glad the gardener has worked out Carole. I must ring ours too.
Yay re MrK doing the dishes, Id trade any job to get out of doing dishes. Ill wash if I have to but hate drying lol
Now for a little Me time.
