Smartgirl it would have been a hoot to still be in Itlaly watching the game. Ho ho . We did talk about the Soccer in a bar in Rome. My son told the Italians in the bar we would do okay. I imagine he is crowing now in Croatia. Ha ha. You are really keen though girl.

Ooh, no-one around????!!!! Just waiting for hubby to come home so we can go out for tea. Daughter got a new property management job for another company and started the very next day! Been there 3 days now. She will be self employed this time so will have to watch the tax stuff and gets paid monthly which will be very different for her. Still she is very excited.

Hi grizzly. Well things are progressing. SIL starting to feel better but a colleague of his in Malaysia(another Pilot) was killed when his skycrane went down. That is so sad and of course when you are feeling ill enough with Malaria and that happens it is another kick in the teeth. Baby K is teething on top of it all and his tummy has still not settled, although it is not bleeding, thank heavens. His little nephew is nearly 2 weeks overdue and is being induced tonight. C my 16 year old grandson(K's brother) went off to his first school ball tonight feeling somewhat jaded I am sure. A my 13 year old granddaughter performed in her first big show at school this arvo so those of us that could go went and had a brilliant top. Joseph is always a great show. She is on again tonight and tomorrow has 2 shows. My daughter will be off to Hamilton once R is in labour and I will take baby K down in the morning. I have an early morning meeting in Rotorua on Monday so will be pushing the stress levels a bit. Duh what else is new!!!! My son and DIL I went on Holiday with returned from Prague on Thursday so we just had tea there to catch up. I have a bag to pack plus the goodies for the new grandson and of course my work files and then I am off to bed. Will catch up as soon as I can grizzly. I just keep running out of time lately and drop into bed very tired. No insomnia for me ha ha.

I knew you were up to something being so quiet for so long but didn't realise it was that much! Everything is happening for you at once. I wonder if that baby is here already since I had a lie in this morning? How exciting!
I hadn't realised your son & DIL were going on to Prague. Hubby's best friend was there a month ago for his work. Had 3 days notice to get his passport updated and was there nearly 3 weeks to organise some machinery to be shipped to NZ.

Oh no! my nose is stuffed! Woke up with a major head cold this morning, really didn't want to get out of bed. However it will be worse next week as our school holiday programmes start and I will have to be at work by 8.15am. Bet I notice the frosts then!! Hope everything is ok, makerealbany? Is the new baby here?

Grizzly, I think I will text makereal and find out about it all. How awful for you to get a cold just before the holidays. Take all the vitamin c and other good stuff to make you get better soon. I have been slack when it comes to getting on here. I am knitting myself a triangle shawl to keep me warm. It started off with one stitch but today I will have to go out and get much longer needles so I can keeep on going.

going to the movies with my 23 year old daughter tonight at 8.30 to see Eclipse, she won tickets to the premiere, she is then going to the midnight screening of it too. Really looking forward to it, hope it is as good as the book.

Hi girls. I am back. Thanks for the text smartgirl. I am now a proud great grandma. Little C was finally born at 2 20am on Monday morning. What a hellish week we had. It was a very difficult labour as they induced R and then had to give her pills to slow it down when she was having very strong contractions because baby C was getting distressed and heart beat was irregular. After a break the specialist said try again and after 15 mins it happened again so he had to use forceps to lift him and then there he was. His other greatgrandma had gone home by this time and there was just his Dad and one granddad, two grandmas and myself. I drove from the hospital to Rotorua and had a thermal bath, breakfast, and then went to work. I had a hairy day with meetings. Yesterday morning I was off again and collapsed in a heap last night. Drove home today. I have pulled a muscle in my neck which is very painful. The burn is radiating down my shoulder so I am rather stiff. What a B--GGER. C weighed in at 9lbs but he was overdue. He is a little fatty. I called into the clinic to visit on my way home and he was fast asleep. Darn I have not even held him yet. Now I ask you. Is that fair? No. Never mind.

makerealbany - 2010-06-30 21:31:00
2916

Congratulations!!!!! I hope this week is easier for you, you deserve a break, I think.

Well I am on my own for a few days as A, S and little M have flown to Wellington until Monday. Yay, yay. Ha ha. I smell like a rugby player with all this deepheat so it is just as well. Just finished a report for my group and now I am off to bed for an early night.

2918

I am completely over this cold!!! And I don't mean I'm feeling better. Thank goodness it's FRiday although looking after 'destructoboy' (B2) tomorrow. My daughter is loving her new job and has some clients to see tomorrow and hubby works Saturday afternoons again now so the way I'm feeling, B2 better be planning a good afternoon sleep so I can have one too. Haha. I am currently knitting a prem swing dress and leggings that I scaled down last year.

2919

How did your day go grizzly? I had my 6 yr old grandson for the night and I have just had tea at his Dads and am about to leave for home. My internet is playing upagain at home. GRRRR. Last night I could not ring out so it is the line aggggain. I am going to finish my g g son's jacket tonight and sew up 3 things. I am ambitious say what!!!! Ha ha. I just luv the destructoboy.xxxxxx I think little K will be one of those in time. Lol.

makerealbany - 2010-07-03 18:59:00
2920

Woke up early. This darn neck is still playing up. Checked the internet and it was working. I think it gets overloaded up here. I did not finish the jacket as I fell asleep in the lazyboy. If Jed had not jumped on me and woken me up I may still have been there. Lol. It seems easier sleeping sitting up. Never mind I have a lot of things that need cleaning today so an early start is ok. I starting cleaning out my garden near the side of the cottage as I could not walk down there in the morning without getting my dressing gown wet because of the growth of the shrubs and plants. I detest that. I was really ruthless and the part I have done looks quite bare apart from the buxus hedge which I can now see again. I feel like a change so will move minature roses from the large pots into the garden behind the buxus as I do have Iceberg Bush roses at the back. That will be it for that garden Impatiens always seem to pop up in that garden. The lavenders there got too big and woody so I have discarded them. We have a nice lavender hedge near the house so they do ok there but I need to trim those now. Ok off to breakie.

You have my problem waking up early only this morning I woke at 9.30. I must have needed it. I wish I had your energy girl, or are you just plain mad. I bet it is because you are there by yourself. I do the same thing. I have just vaucmmed and tidied up. I had mr 10 stay overnight. I was impressed when he did offer to vacuum for me. I am off out this afternoon to watch the netball and dinner at friends so that will be nice. Have a great day

My weekend was great, thank you. Saturday was very peaceful as B2 was a different child when Mum wasn't there. Have been using the portacot still, when he sleeps here 'cos he just doesn't stay in one place, but I gave him the choice of the single bed or the cot since he had been so settled. Jumped into the bed and was asleep in seconds. So pleased with him and I got to read in the sun for an hour and a half. Yesterday was another lovely day weatherwise so we washed cars and the outside of all the windows (no mean feat in this house!) and then visited extended family in the afternoon. Weel prepared for my early starts this week, now.

grizzly4 - 2010-07-05 07:07:00
2923

It's the end of the baby era in this house. I have gradually sold on the baby things I had here for the boys, now it's time for the portacot to go. I bit sad really. Both L3 and B2 used it over the past 3 years. L has even said some of the toys we had collected need to be changed to cars for boys to play with. Haha. So we did that when we shifted and now they are happy which reminds me I must get rid of the baby toys, too.

grizzly4 - 2010-07-06 07:23:00

Kia ora girls. I went to my SIL'S Grandmother's funeral yesterday. First Indian Funeral I have been to. Very sad she was a darling. A very gentle non judgemental Matriach. I cleaned like a loonie the day before and got frustrated because I could not get online. My cottage is so tidy and clean. HA HA. I took heaps to the op shop again. My SIL told me to save the clothes next time and he will take them up to the jungle. Forgot about that darn. They are so poor and appreciate anything. He is feeling much better and has finished his Malaria medicine so is off again on Thursday. I am so glad he was here when his Pate died because A. He is the only son. B. his parents are not well themselves and C. His sisters had to support his Mum and his Dad really needed him. I really like his Dad's family they are just like ours. Very supportive and nice with it.

makerealbany - 2010-07-06 19:56:00
2925

Smartgirl, surely you realised that I was mad ages ago girl? Ha ha. I know that feeling of getting rid of the baby toys etc. grizzly. I did once and hello it started all over again. Mind you I do have 5 kids. It has not finished yet either. Lol. I have to finish a merino hat for K as he has got too big for his others. I used that 1ply and have three balls on the go. The cats are watching with interest.

makerealbany - 2010-07-06 20:01:00
2926

Don't talk to me about cats!!!! Mine have never behaved so badly as they have since we shifted 21/2 months ago. I am at my wits end with their scratching the carpet which is brand new, one has sprayed on the kitchen bench twice and they are rampaging through the house from 5am. They are all nearly 10 years old and we were prepared to be sympathetic to them moving again but, honestly this is driving us nuts. It's all totally attention seeking behaviour, and it's certainly not because they don't get attention, for goodness sake!

grizzly4 - 2010-07-07 07:40:00
2927

my boy is locked in the kitchen at night , otherwise he would be tapping me on my nose in the early hours, thats what he does to get us to wake up, thats why he's bannished to the kitchen lol. The dog sleeps with us in our bedroom, think she snores louder than my hubby. Wonder if they had cats in that house before you moved in, spraying is a territory thing.

suzy59nz - 2010-07-07 22:22:00
2928

No, no cats before us. And the carpet is brand new so not carrying any history! Haha. They are just being naughty.

Just booked my air tickets for our Christmas holidays in Australia, i was looking on line then rang my travel agent that i have used a few times, they said they would beat any on line offer and so they did, for the insurence too, booked the rental car direct, wish i had tried through them you never know they may have got that cheaper, but got a discount as i have used the same car place before.

Sounds great suzy. Makereal I hope things have settled down for you and your kids. It is such a hard time being the only son or daughter. I have only one son but so far have been easy on him, his day will come. I am off to Tauranga this morning. Miss B turned 3 yesterday and she had a wee party at Mcds, but today she is having on at her other nans so we are all off there. Catch you later.

smartgirl - 2010-07-10 06:24:00
2931

Grizzly, my cats must have the same bug. Paws is being a right pain and sprayed on the bathroom floor straight after he came inside. Jed is on my lazyboy and he has his own darn chair but for some reason is trying to take mine. Maybe it is because I have been away to Orewa to mind the kids for 2 days. Jed is scratching the carpet near the door when he wants out. I am getting a bit tetchy over it all. Both of them have been fixed and this is just new behaviour. Maybe they are sick of me coming and going. Ha ha.

Cool suzy. A holiday. My daughter and her hubby are going to India in January and asked if I wanted to go but it is too close to the last trip. After all I do need spending money. HA HA. Mind you she is trying to tempt me into a week in Thailand. Ah to be footloose and fancyfree again. Yes it is good dealing with the same travel agent.

makerealbany - 2010-07-10 20:26:00
2933

Hi smartgirl. Hope you had a great day in Tauranga. My daughters took my 3 granddaughters and baby K to the Zoo today and they all had a ball. I tied up the cottage as the two older granddaughters stayed here last night whilst I was up the road. My stars those teenagers use towels like tissues. Not very good drying weather but managed to get most of it out and in again. Finishing off in the boiler cupboard. It is chilly tonight girl. Heater is on and so is the electric blanket.

makerealbany - 2010-07-10 20:31:00
2934

Oops that should have been tidied the cottage. Mind you may have been better if I had tied the doors shut. Lol. It is freezing and I am trying to finish this Merino hat for K. I sliced the top of my finger the other day and the wool keeps catching the plaster. Bug it. That was a bumer of a day. I was making a Thai curry for lunch and after I sliced the finger I burnt the same hand on the rice cooker. Duh. The burning sensation sure took away the sting of the cut. Ha ha. Mum is in hospital again as she had another fall in the bath. She is so stubborn that woman. My sister had Mum visiting and my sis did not even know she was in the bath. Naughty, naughty. So Sis had to get an ambulance, etc. Mum is feeling better but Sis told the hospital staff to stop giving her so much morphein as she was throwing up everywhere. They have lowered the dose and that has stopped. Poor Sis. One of my other sisters has gone over to stay in Hamilton to help out. I thought things were settling down for us. No such luch. Darn.

2935

Oh my goodness I am in the loop and no one else is. Lol. What a change. SIL finally put my bathroom door on in the cottage. Said to me it had only taken him nearly 3 years. Lol. I have not had a door going into my bedroom from the bathroom. I did have a door going into the lounge from the bathroom but you had to shut the bedroom door as well as the other one for privacy in the bathroom. Won't know myself now. Took M to the park today as it was a nice day. I am minding Teddy, my son's little dog as they are on holiday. So we have 3 dogs and 2 cats. He is a cute beggar. M and I made cards this afternoon after her nap. She is very creative that little girl. Sent Mum some flowers and waiting to hear the latest news from Sis P. Got GP to fax my regular script to the Pharmacy because I am feeling very well at the moment. Could not be bothered going in just for that. Finger is healing nicely. Not as cold tonight so far that is!!!!

Boy it's cold in the mornings!!!! And I still have early starts this week! Went to Toy Story 3 with the programme on Friday. It's better than the other 2 put together. Great movie for the kids.Trying to work, knit, baby sit and sleep and it's not fitting into the day very well, I have to say.

School holidays is always so busy. Grizzly, I took my wee girls just before the holidays to that movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it too. I have decided to make mondays charity knitting as I did last year but it was disasterous. I managed to knit a pair of booties and the band for a beanie. I will finish it off today.

Makereal, I things are getting easier for your mum, you all must be worried. When do you relax. You must crash when you finally go to bed. I had the girls yesterday and having them this morning. They are such good friends, when they play doll and mothers they call each other darling.

smartgirl - 2010-07-13 07:50:00
2939

I know just how you feel grizzly. My SIL is home for an extra week so he is running around doing jobs for us. I minded M today but have to go up the line to mind K and the 2 teenagers tomorrow as his Mum is working from 2 until 11. My oldest grandson there has a part time job so he is no bother really. I think teenage boys are easier than teenage girls. At lest they can amuse themselves. Girls are too needy. lol. That means I will be home about 1 in the morning. So on and so on. Ha ha.

Yes smartgirl. We live at the hospitals lately. Ah well thats life. I had to chuckle about the girls. M has taken to making up stories and she comes up with some doosies. She is using the toilet now so she is a "big girl". We may try to get her into a preschool soon. My friend in Hamilton is selling her house and moving to Evantide( I think thatis close to it. ) It is on the way to Cambridge. She has had enough of boarders and a big house. I think it will be the best thing for her now.

I have read the whole series, i thought they were very good, well writen, i found that i couldn't put them down, The books are far better than the movies, although i love those too. There is another one, it is Twilight but writen from Edwards perspective, only the first 12 chapters were writen then someone released them on the net so the author canned the book, i hope she gets around to finishing it as it answerd a lot of questions that were left hanging in the origional Twilight, you can read the chapters on Stephanie Meyer's web site , The book was to be called" Midnight Sun". Sorry to ramble on, but i love these books and movies.

I hope you enjoy the books, makerealbany! L3 is also into his storytelling, dead serious he is about them all, too. Haha. He reminds me so much of my son, except that he has my daughters temper. He is starting to empathise with other people's feelings and trying to make friends with my cats. He is trying to be gentle and loving towards them but of course they are not having a bar of it.

Thank goodness, suzy59nz! Everyone busy as usual, I see. Holiday programme over for another school holidays. Everyone at work is really tired and grateful for the weekend. Went to Shrek 4 yesterday and was quite disappointed after enjoying the previous 3. Toy Story was much better this time around. It's a shame they have to keep adding on instead of being happy with their initial success, isn't it? It's going to be a wet weekend down here, by the looks of it so might get some serious knitting done, for a change. I am working on a waistcoat for a teddy, hoping that I have enough wool.

Aww he is so cute. I have been busy sorting out my garage, I have heaps of craft stuff in it. I saw a RAT in there and have decided to get everything out but it is so hard when you are in pain. Its useless getting my g/son to help all the time as he moans, typical teenager.
I have to take it all out via the roller door instead of straight through the house as I dont want it to get inside.

Well you girls are all busy keeping us online. Thanks. I am enjoying the books when I get a chance to read. I read a chapter and drop into sleep. It is tiring lately. So much to do Ha ha. Spent 2 days up the line. Had an Indian family function last night so was really laid back today. Finally caught up with most of my phone calls. Mum is improving at last.
