Has anyone ever seen any genuine mail from the Tokelaus? In all the years I've been in the stamp trade (Over 40 years) I've never seen anything that looks like genuine mail and so i wonder if anyone has ever seen any. Does it exist?

I have found Two that look like they qualify Listing #: 336508250 and Listing #: 336507958

Sadly both of these are philatelic covers addressed to well known philatelists and collectors of Tokelau stamps. The One to the Christchurch company was sent to my old Accountant and leading Christchurch philatelist Robert Samuel who regularly sent to Tokelau to get used issues as he collected Tokelau island stamps. the Invercargill is/was also a well known stamp collector.

My advise would be to get a Davo or Lighthouse brand stockbook. These are blank and have strips inside that you can just slip the stamps in. I think they have acid free paper and are good quality. Beware of cheap Chinese albums. If you have a stamp shop close by they should stock something suitable or there are Davo stockbooks available here on Trademe at good prices. Great to hear of two new young collectors, I hope they are enjoying their new hobby.

Hi All. I don't frequent this forum very often but just happened to notice some of my listing have been the subject of comment and discussion (resulting in those comments, which I have not read, being removed from TM). Please feel free to use the question function on my listings to help me correctly identify and describe my listings. I have traded with most of you over the years and you will know I am a trader of integrity who desires to be honest in all my dealings. Anyone know anything about US stamps?
I have a 1894/5 Bureau issue Ben Franklin 1 cent blue. Despite googling I have not found any that show the missing the top corner decoration triangle. The stamp itself is toned and used so not of any real value ,I just would like to know!

Could I have some advice, please? I have an old stamp album I'm going to list. Some of the stamps are pretty old and appear to be slightly collectable as there are a dozen or so of the same ones are being sold on TM at $1 each (ie have bids!). They are all apparently in good condition, some used, some unused. How do I best present this so it will get the right interest? I realise it's not worth much overall. Thanks!

Just wondering, is it ok to put a stamp with a flaw, on an envelope and send it to yourself, or would it devalue it?
If this is ok, can it be hand stamped or would it be better with the modern markings?
I'm talking about older decimal stamps.

Two questions: (1) What sort of flaw are we talking about? and (2) why would you want to have it posted?

New New Zealand Post Local stamps have been issued unannounced for TE PAPA, in Wellington. Following on from last years Kaikoura Regional stamps New Zealand post have now issued their second Regional set with a booklet of 10 60 cents stamps featuring Te Papa in Wellington. There are 5 different designs (2 of each) and they are being sold at Te papa and at Real Aotearoa outlets around NZ. First day of issue is unknown but they came on line at Christchurch last Friday (10th December). As far as I know no FDC's were done. Supplies seem very limited in Christchurch but I have no idea what happened in Wellington. Does anybody know?

Hi Guys

Hubby and I were cleaning out the garage yesterday and came across a carton FULL of stamps that my Dad had given to me a few years ago. Not sure what to do with it but figure I should go through it (guessing that will take a few weeks!) but am wondering if there is anything in particular I should look out for. Worst thing I can imagine is letting go of something valueable just because we didnt realise! IYKWIM!!

Cheers guys

hey guys, didn't feel like going through the 58 pages of this thread, anyway I've been doing some christmas day clearing out of my wardrobe and came across a stamp collection book which belonged to my father - most of the stamps are from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s - is there anyone in the Waikato I can go see regarding its worth of significance? Thanks

If it's just the stamps you are interested in "coil stamps" is what you want to research.
several countries used Dickie machines or variations on his origional idea.
Enjoy.

You should have said this right at the start rather than have people try to find out what info you really wanted.
The stamps you have are indeed Dickie stamp vending machine stamps. there were I think 50 sheets (of 240 stamps) overprinted with the black lines. In actual fact they never got used for this purpose and eventually they came onto the philatelic market. I remember purchasing 2 full sheets of them in the early 1980's which I split up and subsequently sold, mostly in blocks of 4. They are usually in good condition. I sold them at $4 per stamp but the price has been edging up recently and I'd say double that is nearer the mark nowadays. The philatelic Foundation in Christchurch has a large collection of Dickie vending machines including some prototype ones.

If you cut and paste my answer to your earlier question into your lot description as to value and info please have the decency to cut and paste the whole of my reply not just a selected part which suits you.
You have also asked a question on the lot which was already answered unless you consider your question now to be a rhetorical one!
