SORRY GRIZZLY I STARTED A MESSAGE TO YOU BEFORE I LEFT AND DARN INTERNET DROPPED OUT AND I HAD TO RUN TO GET TO AIRPORT. FRIDAYS ARE AWFUL IN TRAFFIC IN AUCKLAND. HOPE HUBBY IS FEELING BETTER. I WAS FREEZING ON THE WAY TO DUBAI. THE AIRCONDITIONING WAS SO COLD AND I HAD WARN TRACK PANTS ON AND A SWEATSHIRT, PLUS A VERY THIN BLANKET. I AM GOING TO WEAR EVEN THICKER THINGS HOME. HA HA. POOR OLD NANA CANNOT STAND THE COLD.

Wow, how cool is that?! Never spoken to anyone in Dubai before! Heehee.Great to hear from you and so soon!

Smartgirl, definitely blue, too.

Had a nice family day yesterday, went to the mall, and bought Ugg boots to keep my feet warm as well as a pair of boots for work that don't leak in the first place! Found a lovely Chenille, lined jacket as well. Bit of a spend up but I always tend to need winter clothes more than summer.

Phew! Had to scroll down to page 2 of the threads to find us!! Drizzling down here again. Yesterdays fine weather was shortlived but does look promising towards the weekend (here's hoping). Lawns need a tidy up and really want to get some horse poo into the new vege garden especially now the ground is so wet. Using up more 'bits' again, another fairisle hooded jacket. I'll bet, makerealbany didn't take her needles with her! Probably classed as lethal weapons on the flight. heehee.

Are you being affected by any flooding, smartgirl? Those poor people who find themselves being evacuated during the night! It's been a dreadful start to winter hasn't it? Hope you are all keeping warm.

Hi grizzly, we are lucky, I just heard Hamilton was the driest for last month, so the farmers are still being affected by the drought and heaps of rain would have been dreadful for them. Yes you have a 3 day weekend. What plans do you have. I am still getting over this bug. I was coughing tonight and mr L said I sounded like I was dying.

smartgirl - 2010-06-02 22:19:00

THat cough is really hanging on, isn't it? Too early in the season for you to be going through that! I actually have a 4 day weekend which is truly wonderful. My boss is trying to be supportive about things at home at present, after she and I have had a few run ins this week over work stuff. I don't actually need to take time off but if it's offered then why not?! Haha. Hubby and I are coping the best we can. He has managed to get to work 2 mornings in a row this week (yesterday and today) and did 7 hours on Monday. That is a huge milestone for him. If you want to talk about supportive bosses then his takes the prize!! She truly is wonderful and not putting any time limits on how long this recovery takes. AND things are actually changing in terms of tasks and responsibilities so his job will be more realistic once he is on board fully. The thing I love the most is he has come home from work the last 2 days and has been quite positive about what he has achieved. One step at a time.....

yeah a sleep in on Monday, good job you told me Grizzley i would have gone rolling in wondering where you were lol .
Hubby is going to Auckland Friday morning untill Monday night, it is his sisters 70th Bithday and no way i was going, can't stand her........ we just clash, he is one of nine and she is the only one that realy gets on my nerves. So I guess its a quiet weekend for me and Bella

Grizzly, your favourite cook is on good morning tomorrow morning, Julie from Australia Master Chef. She is cooking, I dont want to miss her, I think she was a very deserving winner.

So do I! Thanks for letting me know, Tele is on now so I hope I haven't missed it.

Well you will never guess what happened. I have had terrible sleeps lately and when they said she was on next I fell asleep in my chair. I did get to see the other 2 parts. Bug..r

Haha, I missed the dessert she was making, thought I'd quickly hang some towels on the line. Went looking for her book in Paper Plus and Whitcoulls yesterday afternoon but couldn't find it. Anyone seen it yet?

Had a lovely family day yesterday. Gosh, the boys are growing up so quickly. Of course, I see B5 everyday at work and B1 every Saturday but I hadn't seen L3 for a couple of weeks since I don't need to provide transport home for them any more. I think he was just as pleased to see me which was wonderful.

And back to work on a miserably wet Tuesday after a lovely 4 day weekend. I finished a fairisle cardy for the shop as well as bottees and sox plus worked on my cross-stitch.

We have only had a few showers over the weekend and today but from tomorrow it is supposed to be getting colder. We had a couple of 0 mornings and then its been 8 to 10 degrees since. I hate it when it is all over the place. Glad you had a neat weekend. I did too. I wonder where makereal is now. I hope she is having fun.

Yippee, sunshine this morning! But pretty cold, my fuchia's are frozen solid, poor things. I've been wondering about makerealbany, too. I'm working on a prem fairisle jacket this week, what's everyone else doing?

grizzly4 - 2010-06-09 08:35:00
2869

Freezing here too, bun sun is shining. I have the girls tonight so that will be fun. I am knitting myself a scarf at the moment.

smartgirl - 2010-06-09 09:18:00
2870

A scarf sounds very wise considering the start we have had to our winter. Hey suzy59nz, what are you working on? Smartgirl, Suzy has this great book of knitted toys and one is so like the Johnny Depp pirate from Pirates of the Carribean. Have you started him yet, Sue? Makerealbany is nearly halfway through her holiday, time is going fast. Hope she is having a great time.

grizzly4 - 2010-06-10 09:09:00
2871

Time always flies when you are away, I must say it miss her. It is always so much quiter on there. Those toys sound great. I am taking my time with this scarf. Normally I think it is long enough then I regret it as it is always too short but not this time. How is you cough

smartgirl - 2010-06-10 10:37:00
2872

started my pirate, started with his jacket though, more interesting than doing the body lol, he is going to be big. Been working on a reborn this week, so that has taken my time up, finished my pink teddy and now the pirate, always seem to have 3 or 4 things on the go at one time, soon get fedup of one thing .

can't believe what a lovely day we have had today, got all my washing dry. Very cool now though, just lit the fire. Roll on summer

2874

I'll look forward to seeing the Teddy on Monday, suzy59nz! Haha.
My cough is just the same, thanks for asking, smartgirl. So many sick people at work, I'm dreading catching something. The one's who are coughing are all very sympathetic about mine, now, but at least there's will go away. I've given up pretty much. There are parts of winter I enjoy, and I'd rather have a frosty morning with a sunny day to follow than the grey days wet & windy ones. I think those good hard frosts kill off a lot bugs and germs both in the garden and for us.

Sorry Grizzly, I have been a bit slack. Dare I say it but my cough has all but gone. We do need a few good frosts, not only for your reason but they make for such beautiful days. Makereal will be thinking about her homeward trip soon, I miss her on here, I think she does most of the postings. My scarf turned out really neat, just like a brought one. I am very happy with it. If I think about it I will post a pic. I have never done it before so that will be a challenge. haha

smartgirl - 2010-06-13 06:10:00
2877

Thats great about your scarf! Looking forward to seeing the photo, we could do more of that when we finish something, don't you think?
Raining today but we had 4 great days in a row down here. Went to B5's soccer match yesterday morning. He's a real wee sportsman and absolutely fearless. Scored 3 goals and then he had to let other team members score them. So confident for 5 years old! My son and daughter and their families were here for lunch and tea and in between we explored the big playground close to where we live and then sat in the sunny lounge and played team games on the Wii. Absolutely wonderful family day and B1 who will be 2 on Tuesday just adored having his big cousins to play with.
I will be the only full time worker on board for most of this week, scary prospect. The boss has been away for the last week verging on pneumonia and my co-worker in my office has surgery on Monday. Probably won't have time to notice the cold this week!

grizzly4 - 2010-06-13 10:47:00
2878

You had better stay well then, I found the best thing for my cough was lingtus g. You have to get the chemist to make it up. I asked another chemist if there was anything better and he said it was good for everything. Have you tried that one.

Hi girls. I am home. What a shock to the system after wearing shorts. BRRRRR. I had a fabulous time. Did not like Nice. The airport and facilities were awful. Loved Barcelona, Venice, Florence and of course Rome. Will catch up on sleep and then give you more details.

Welcome home makereal. Brrr, you are right, it is cold tonight, I am so glad you are home. Time goes so fast. We have missed you. My girlfriend didnt like it either, she also said the people were rude. She was expecting the French to be rude but they were lovely.I bet your wee m was pleased to see her nana.

Hi there My youngest grandson has just got home from the hospital after having an intestinal bleed. He seems chirpy but they need to do more scans, etc. I was shocked when I found out. Kids wanted me to sleep so did not tell me until I was rested. Yes M ran up and yelled Nana and gave me such kisses and hugs she nearly broke some ribs. Ha ha. Even little K came running up to me calling out Nana and once again I got heaps of kisses and he would not let me put him down for ages. My daughter showed me the photos of him in starship and I nearly cried. They had a huge IV in his little arm. They said he was so good with all the procedures little toughie. Well it has been a bit tough adjusting to the homelife but I am getting there ha ha. Although I do miss sitting on the rooftops at night, drinking a glass of wine, guzzling jugs of water, eating fab food and walking up and down steps for miles. I got quite fit. The day before I came home from Rome my leg started to protest but I am delighted with my physical efforts. Of course it is different when you are not chasing children and doing housework, etc. Lol.

Really sorry to hear about your grandson, makerealbany. Keep us posted about how he is getting on. Do you know what would cause an intestinal bleed?
Your trip sounds lovely, although I'm not sure I could cope with all the steps. Did you bring home lots of souvenirs?

grizzly4 - 2010-06-16 08:27:00

Rome , Italy lovely places, those people know how to eat, the food is amazing. Never liked France though.
Hope your wee grandson is ok, poor little mite.

2889

How's your jet lag, makerealbany? Or are you straight into your busy days again?
I have a problem I haven't had for years!!!!
IHAVE RUN OUT OF WOOL!!!! Can you believe it? Apparently Knitworld is having their annual sale so I'm dropping in on the way to work for a sneak peak. Haha.

grizzly4 - 2010-06-17 09:09:00
2890

Sale wasn't bad, but not as much at reduced prices as I had expected from other's comments. Got some Baby Merino 8ply for $3 but paid full price for the other stuff I needed. Fun to go though. And I have to finish a prem layette before starting on the new wool.
Hope everyone is well!

2891

Makereal, how are you. I hope everything is ok with wee k. Please let us know. I have been busy with kids and keep running out of time to get on line. Grizzly, I went in too late to get any bargins here but brought some non sale price wool anyway. Very cold here tonight.

smartgirl - 2010-06-18 18:35:00

Hi girls still waiting on test results. Little K appears to be ok but his father got a high temp and is as sick as a dog and because he works in Malaysia had to have bloods taken ,etc. Talk about a nightmare. My daughter, the midwife had to take time off to be with K at the hospital so has used up all her leave so now that K is at home I had to go and look after him while his Mum was a t work and dad was sick. Thank heavens it is the weekend. I also realised that I had worn quite a bit of skin off the soles of my feet and under my toes with all the walking. HA HA. Did not notice it while I was having fun. I put some skin repair on and it is all healing nicely. Was feeling croaky what with the climate change so have been having a dspn of crushed garlic and honey to keep the bugs at bay. Yep I am back into the grind. lol. Still have not had time to load my photos yet and my first great grandson is overdue. Went to bed early last night so feeling much rested. Have a great day.

2893

No easing gently back into the routine, for you, is there? Haha. I'm definitely echoing the sentiments about the weekend, (Sigh of relief) Felt like I worked really hard all week, but not sure I achieved everything I wanted to. Hubby has pulled a muscle between 2 ribs and we are living in a cloud of Deep Heat at present. Goodness knows what I'll smell like at work on Monday. Haha.

grizzly4 - 2010-06-19 09:50:00

Just bumping us back up. Other threads are quite busy I see.

Hi Grizzly , i'll let you know on Monday what you smell like ok ;-)
got the jacket, trousers and boots done on the pirate, think Noddy will be in on Monday.

What a shame you haven't done the body, eh? you could be dressing him by now, suzy!!! Thank goodness for husbands who can knit, so Noddy got finished. Haha!!!!

Hi grizzly. Your poor hubby is in the wars again.!!!!! I love using deep heat but the smell drives everyone else nuts. I do not mind it myself. Have to go and babysit tonight as daughter's hubby is still unwell so she is sending him to his parents so I can organize the two teenagers and bubs. Went to see one of my son's and take them their pressies. I only got the guys teeshirts but I got the girls jewellery. I visited the Island of Murano when we were in Venice. Went on a boat tour around the islands. Anyway Murano has glass factorys there. We watched the glass being blown and it was fantastic. I bought the jewellery from stalls all over Venice as I really liked the glass. I wanted glass beads milliflora for my mosaics but they were very expensive. Next time I will try and find a cheaper source. Yep there will be a next time!!!! ha ha. Speaking of mosaics I have so many pictures of the incredible mosaics I walked on, sat on, looked and drooled at. So many inspirations. Ah well reality check I must go and babysit.

2898

There is obviously no rest for the wicked with you makereal. I hope that wee man and his dad are on the mend. Also mr grizzly. I love deep heat too but I hate getting it on everything. Murano glass is amazing.. You can often pick the beads up here quite reasonably. I cant sleep. I woke up at 2 30 and watched the boys go on to the feild etc and the national anthems and went back to bed then woke at the 72nd minute and saw we were 1-1 and went back to bed. Then I had to get up now to check the score. I must be mad.

smartgirl - 2010-06-21 05:38:00
2899

Yep you are, smartgirl! I am more than happy getting the news when I get up. Way past getting up to watch early morning sport. I did do it the last time we played in the World Cup. I was hugely pregnant with my daughter so not sleeping well anyway.

I have a Pandora bracelet, Makerealbany, that you can buy Murano beads for. They are very pretty! The glass factories sound like a great experience.

Well my SIL has Malaria. Found it in Bloods today. 4th lot of tests. So that is a right bu--er but he does work in Malaysia and should have been taking stuff to keep it at bay but was NOT. Honestly guys think they are all bulletproof. Still no results from K's biopsy so that must be okay but no appointment yet for the little fellows scan. Daughter home tonight after a 2 day work retreat. I have no idea why they call it a work retreat when they just work like dogs there. What it means is that once they have them there isolated they work all hours. HA HA. She is getting very tired as Bubs is a big boy already and she is not due until early Oct. Quite a nice day here today weatherwise that is.
