I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
2701

Some blue sky here, some cloud, sun is trying but not trying hard enough, and it's very cool. Think the garden will be too wet to do much out there today, so might just manage to finish my curtain, and of course I will do some knitting. I'm enjoying the 10 stitch baby blanket I've started, (pic to follow later today if I remember) and I'm making steady progress on my tunic. Still undecided whether to sew up the tunic I made 18 months ago or unpick it and knit it into something else (it's a different style tunic to the one I'm currently knitting).

Anyway, whatever you do today ladies, have fun and enjoy your knitting.

Had a quick trip over to Pukekohe this morning after getting groceries and putting them away.
Since I was a kid Ive always wanted a Russian doll set. And the Warehouse have them in a santa. so we managed to get one.. One more thing off the list lol.
Got MrP some more asparagus, only $3-99 a kilo which is heaps.
Had some heavy rain on the way. But all fine now
Now time for some knitting

morning :) Your new cat sounds lovevly carole and glad she is settling in well.
The kids just shone last night, the old adage, it will be all right on the night is so true lol.
Back to school for the matinee and the last evening session and maybe some story reading in between lol. Am sick (thanks to a kid for coughing all over me) but some panadol will sort that. It was a 13 hour day yesterday and the same again for today.
happy knitting ladies and knit a few rows for me :)

Morning Ladies.. Ohh you take care Kiwimade... We try and avoid highly populated places for that very reason... bugs and coughing. Went to a santa display here one year and the granddaughter of one of the owners of the santas, shared her 90 day cough.. we and Mum all got it and the house was a coughing mess for just over the three months.

Glad kitty is settling in Carole, are we named? I annoyed the Bobcat this morning by stealing a cuddle. he was asleep on my bed so I grabbed him and sat there for quite a while having a nice cuddle ,,till he started moaning about it lol.
I have heaps to do today. The school will be here this weekend to get the furniture Yay... Have to take the pillows etc off the top of the bookcase. And bag up a few more things to get rid of.
Need to go and post a sale and get milk. Will make MrP a smoked fish pie for his dinner tonight. Will line my cake tin for the Christmas cake tomorrow.
I am getting excited about A-having the old furniture taken away B-making up my pantries, And C- finally being able to sort the wool out and I think I might get a shock as to how much is there.
Ive made bookcases etc before. and I love pulling things apart etc, little miss independent to a degree. But Ive never done hinges so I get to learn something new.
Will do a few rows for you Kiwimade, what colour are we working on lol... Ill get a few rows in when I need to rest the back for a power rest between jobs.
Have a good day everyone

Pussy is doing Ok. she is out in Mr T man cave helping him with his music. I been sewing and knitting most of today, not feeling to great today got a cough and a very big raw rash on my tummy it hurts like hell.

carolev - 2013-11-08 15:52:00
2708

Glad pussy cat is doing well...

Not good re your rash, do you have any idea what its from Carole?

Ive been asked to make a topsy Turvey doll so have done three parts of the heads this afternoon. Funny doing something by pattern after so long of no thinking knitting lol. But shes going to be pretty in orange and yellows.
Have just cooked some smoked fish ina white sauce for MrPs tea, was going to make a pie but he said just slap some fish and mashed tatty on a plate, don't bother to dress it up. It all gets mashed together anyway lol.
Im going to have something that I haven't had in sooo long. Some fried mashed potato with bacon in it. and a slice of toast with vegemite to go with it. Ohhh two carbs...

*carole* have you tried Curash talc powder on your rash? We find it really good and get it from the baby dept at New World.

I had to take my husband to ED last night so took my knitting....they were so quick and efficient that I never had time to get it out.

just realised that it is still out in the car because I worked on my latch-hook project this afternoon.

Well I've had a very productive day and have finally finished and hung the last blue curtain in the main family/kitchen/dining area, so the "two-tone" look has now gone. Really pleased - have to take it down again to re-arrange the lining a little and the curtain track needs about two inches chopped off one end - I could have made the curtain a little bit bigger, but thought I'd got it right, but as the track extends quite a bit beyond the ranch slider I shall hacksaw a bit off it. And today I've done some more of my 10 stitch blanket, finished my socks (which I started months ago) and crocheted a baby beanie, as well as going to town for a few things and going for a long walk along the beach - we managed to dodge the heavy showers, and his nibbs informs me that the beans I sowed last week have started popping up.

Time for feet up and a bit more knitting. Nite everyone.

I'm home and having a cuppa :) The kids were great again but very tired. Catching bugs is just part of teaching popeye and after a while I'll toughen up :).
Had a wee flood in the bathroom this morning so we need to replace the cold tap which means we have to replace both taps so they match. Luckily MrK can do it and we don't need a plumber.
No knitting (caramel and cream popeye lol) tonight, just tooooo pooped.
Happy knitting :)

morning ladies :) Off to Bunnings this morning to buy taps and maybe some more plants for the garden. Buggar all voice this morning and stuffy nose but not quite as achey now so I'll survive once the panadol kicks in.
I'm back in the classroom one day next week too :).
Should really catch up with things around the house but I am 'sick' so might catch up on some knitting today.
Happy knitting :)

Morning ladies.. Not good that you are both sick.. Feet up and rest today.
Not good re the leaking taps, and I agree it would drive me potty to have odd taps.
Glad the curtains are done Kuaka you must feel very pleased. I know I did when I got all ours finished.
Glad Miss Pussy slept with you Carole, sounds like she has life sussed already.
Hopefully the furniture will go today, I cant wait lol...

I got an order for a Topsy Turvey yesterday so have knitted the main body pieces. Will get as much of that done as I can. Cos My pantries will be waiting for me yay.
Will go put the fruit on to boil for the Christmas cake shortly

Take care and get well everyone.

Yes, I'm really pleased with the new curtains, (I bought the fabric on here, worked out at about $2 metre and it looks great - it's patterned chintz, looks very classy) I've got heaps left of the roll I've used so far, and I have another roll of about 20 metres and another in the same pattern in a different colour which is about 28 metres (or maybe the one that's a different colour is 20 metres and the one that's the same colour is 28 metres - I forget, but I've still got heaps). Going to have a wee break from curtains for a few days then I think I'll do new ones for our bedroom 'cos I don't like the ones I made but they were better than having no curtains which was what we had when we bought the house. No curtains at all - well none worth mentioning. The two pairs that were here were so grotty, I threw one pair out and the other pair I washed, and then threw them out. I'll give the ones out of our bedroom to my son, I'm sure they'll fit one of his bedrooms, and he won't mind what they're like, they'll do till I get around to making some better ones for him.

Looks like being a lovely day, was hoping we would go out to Kuaka (the boat) today to potter around and see if we can get the motor to start but Mr K doesn't feel too good, so might take it easy and just go to the supermarket.

Had a letter from the UK Pensions yesterday informing me that I don't qualify for a UK pension as I didn't work there long enough - I could have told them that and saved myself the angst of filling out that 20 page form. What a waste of time and effort.

Well I got up late, so I suppose really I should think about having some breakfast or it will be lunchtime.

I hope everyone has a lovely day and those of you who are feeling grotty, get better soon.

2722

morning :) That's a shame carole, sounds like puss is still trying to settle in. I still use a kitty litter box for The Furry One on stormy days/nights as he hates being outside in the rain. Maybe try that and lock her in the laundry with it at night for a little while. She'll soon get the idea.
Slept all yesterday afternoon so no knitting done from me. Still feeling a bit blahhh but will see how the day goes.
Taps are fitted in the handbasin and it makes a huge difference to be able to turn them off easily. Our water pump is thanking us too as it would cut in and out as the tap leaked.
Happy knitting :)

2723

Morning everyone.
Ohh Carole not good re pussy cat. It could all be from the change of home, possibly change of food and a settling in stage. id shut her in with a litter box too. But I guess it will depend on your man, cos I know MrP would day the same to get rid of the cat.
Not good you are both unwell, take things easy.
Your water pump cutting in like that will have added to the power bill too Kiwimade, so you might notice a difference in that too.

The school didn't have anyone working over there yesterday. Hoping it will be today.
Im going to nip up the road shortly and be back so if they do arrive Im here, I don't want MrP trying to help them.

Take care, get well soon..

2724

Oh dear I do hope all you who are not feeling well are 100% again very very soon.
Caught up with all my UFOs yesterday but now have another 3 things on the go - If I am doing something which needs a bit of concentration I tend to like to have a simple thing on the go as well.
Off to Wellington today for a few days to help niece with the little ones as she has a couple of appointments and can't take 3 preschoolers to them.
So won't be a lot of knitting done i think.
looks like a nice day for travel fortunately.

Ive just finished knitting a Topsey Turvey, so Will put them together tomorrow and in the post on Tuesday. Must email the buyer too.

The school hasn't turned up, MrP not greatly happy. I will give them a call in the morning.

Will knit some of my blanket tonight.

That's a real shame about puss carole.
Might pick the needles up for a bit this evening, will see how I go.

Looks like it's going to be one of those days. My message disappeared before I had posted it!

Carolev sorry to hear you're still not feeling well.

I'm absolutely gutted this morning. Woke to find that puss has clawed holes in the curtain which I hung on Friday - the biggest one of the lot. She use to claw the old ones but the weave was much more open, so I thought she wouldn't manage to damage these as they are much more tightly woven. Grrrrrrrr. Luckily I have oodles more of the same fabric, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life making curtains. I won't do anything just yet, but if she keeps on she's going to find she gets a few smacks. Have to catch her at it though.

I'm also gutted 'cos I discovered last night that I'd made a mistake on my tunic I'm knitting and had to unknit 12 rows. I had somehow managed to do left twists on two of the right twists and it really noticed and being a funny twist stitch I couldn't drop the stitches and reknit them as I would have done if it had been on the moss stitch or cable part. So now I've picked all the stitches up and have to reknit those twelve rows to be back where I was. I was doing so well too.

I'm a bit stiff and sore today - yesterday I sprayed the two orange trees, the mandarin, grapefruit and lemon tree, then I mowed two of the lawns and then did some weeding. Easy day today my body is telling me.

Looks like it might be nice later but at the moment we have overcast with a weak sun.

Happy knitting everyone.

Morning Ladies..

Carole do you think a visit to the dr might be in need?

Have fun in class Kiwimade, glad your on the mend.

Kuaka ohh boy... Get yourself a weapon, a super soaker water pistol.. Naughty girl. Glad you can fix it tho.

Im not happy with the hair on this doll. so Im going to re-knit it. Its stretched on and makes the poor girl look like she is going bald. Wont take me long. And thankfully I hadn't sewn it on. I was going to extend it when I knitted it and thought Noo ill just see how it goes. I should have lol.

No one from the school arrived to pick up the funirture so ill ring them. I want it gone so I can sort my room out.

Warm and wet here.. Im dreading summer already. hate the heat.

Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone. Glad your mending slowly Carole but you need to eat so your sugars stay level.
Ohh not good re the sewing machine. mine went slow on me for over a year, I made drapes etc with it going sooo slow. Turned out there was a switch I had never noticed on the foot lol.. She goes heaps faster now lol

Cant wait till my machines are set up.

Wow Kiwimade you will be having withdrawls, Glad to hear your feeling much better too.

Warm here today and cloudy.

Excellent night on tv last night, Downton Abbey then I watched the ;last two hours of The Help.. Loved the book and movie.

I knitted till just after 11 so got a fair bit done on the blanket. Should finish this strip tomorrow all going well. Then 2 to go yay.

Have a good day everyone

Sadly that's Murphy's law Carole. Hope shes going well now.

My Janome was secondhand when I got it back in u,,, 96ish. still runs like a charm.

popeye333 - 2013-11-12 15:49:00
2739

I wish popeye but she will be away for a week or so, so all order can be partly made and finished when she get home. she cost me $2500 to buy so not a cheap machine

carolev - 2013-11-12 17:04:00
2740

morning :) My Janome was a reposessed one so all I had to do was pay the balance of the hire purchase. Was one of the very first electronic machines and 30 years later is due for her first service. (OK, well overdue!)
Back in the classroom today, the class teacher is back tomorrow. No hassles with Novapay (thank goodness) so all good on that front. It's going to be a gorgeous day so even if I was home, I suspect I would be outside.
Happy knitting :)

carolev - 2013-11-13 07:16:00
2742

That was a good buy Kiwimade. Mines a janome New Home, a smallish machine which was one of the reasons I got it , cos we were living in the bus at that stage. And a friend who was well up in machines recommended it.
She had the first of the ones that do the embroidery,,, I wanted one of those but definatly couldn't afford it, or justify it cos it would have the use it needed to pay for itself.
Enjoy your last day.
Hope you improve soon Carole... I went to sleep too eraly last night and the extra hour laying down hasn't done a lot of good for my back oops

Yay the furniture goes today... Im soo pleased it seems to have taken forever.
I did about 115 rows yesterday and only have about 40 left. So I will be disciplined and get those done before I start building things... Typical of me, wait soo long for something then delay the action cos I want to finish something else lol.
Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2013-11-13 08:08:00
2743

Yayayayayayay its all gone.... Feels like a big weight off my shoulders now..
Tempted to start building a pantry, Noooo I want to get this strip finished first.
Took MrP to dr this morning we weren't dealing with his pain well enough and his moods were getting downright shocking. so Dr has increased his antidepressant which will also act as a pain killer.. And not harm his kidneys any more.
So fingers crossed everyone that I have my normal hubby back in a few days.

popeye333 - 2013-11-13 12:33:00
2744

popeye, what medication is Mr P on if you don't mind me asking, only Mr Ks doctor tried treating him with anti-depressants for pain, and they didn't agree with him, affected his bowels and his bladder and as he said, "if you can't pee and you can't poop, life's not much fun".

kuaka - 2013-11-13 16:53:00
2745

Hes on Paroxetine in the morning.. And now on Amitryptiline three times a day.
He was already taking 20mg a baby dose of amis at night but now taking 10mg morning, noon and 30mg at night.
He has to weigh up the risk of feeling sleepy over his intense pain. And it will also stabilize his moods too hes been swinging from suicidal, crying, happy and super grumpy and nasty.
He is level four on the scale of 5, 5 being you need dialysis, so we have to consider his kidneys too. We have managed to stablise that so fingers crossed he wont get worse.

Thanks for that. I know grumps had amitryptiline a few years ago and this last time they put him on something similar - had a similar name, but I can't remember what the other one was called, have to check (I think he still has some). He doesn't seem to tolerate a lot of drugs, if there's a side-effect he seems to suffer it. Hope your Mr P handles the extra dose okay.

Knitting is a bit difficult as I have a multi-coloured furry thing on my lap at the moment and she objects to the wool - it must annoy her, even when it doesn't touch her, I guess the movement annoys her.

Went to "knit and natter" this morning, didn't do much, I couldn't concentrate, but I did some after I'd spent an hour and a half weeding this afternoon - looking around the garden I need to spend a lot more time weeding and a bit less time knitting - don't think that's going to happen!

Morning.... You take it easy Carole...
You will be able to get some cables done now Kiwimade lol... Lovely day for gardening.

I finished my strip yesterday.. 2 to go..

Off shopping this morning, then I will make a start on one of the Pantries. YAYAYAY... I was very good yesterday, disciplined and didn't drop the needles... so I measured up the room and decided where everything will go.
Ill be able to put MrPs mothers standing sewing box in there too which will be good cos it has all my cottons in it.

MrP had the best sleep he has had in month, the pills making sure of that and he said the pain isn't so intense this morning.. Dr said it would happen fast.
Have a fab day everyone...

Morning all,
Home again after 4 rather busy but great days, niece's baby had minor surgery and is fine again which is a great relief for all. The 2 and 4 year olds were so good while their parents were away and we had some lovely walks and playing.

Rest up and recover Carole - hope you feel better real quick.

At long last Popeye the pantries are getting done I bet you can't wait for the improvements they will make.

Rather cold and overcast today but have done a big pile of washing and will use the weather an excuse to stay inside and knit.
Happy knitting everyone (or whatever you are doing today)
