Happy Easter to you too grizzly and have a nice weekend. We went up to Orewa to deliver eggs today, had a lovely lunch with the kids. This afternoon Miss M had an Easter egg hunt with the neighbours boys. She was racing all over the property with a little basket and the boys were herding her in the right direction to gather all the loot. The 3 of them had a great time. Then P the little foxie got stung by a bee we think. He yelped and ran around all over the place. I gave him a bath and coddled him and he settled down. I could not find a sting but he had a swelling near his tail. Poor little blighter. We are off to Hamilton for a night, then will spend 2 days in Rotorua. Catch you when I get back.

Lovely weather down here, at present. Yesterday we cleaned out the garage and the gardens and I washed some of the drapes. Had some lunch at McCafe for a treat, came back and worked some more then went for a ride on the bike. THen found time for some xstitch. All-in-all an excellent start to a long weekend. Needed drugs this morning though for sore muscles and joints, haha.

Another great day yesterday. Family day for tea and took green stuff from the garden to the dump before that. Gave books to the grandsons for Easter this year. Won't see them today so they got them yesterday. Last year it was gumboots and year before that winter hats. They certainly don't need chocolate from us with everyone else giving it to them.

Moving us back up till you all get back to your normal routines after the long weekend.

Hi grizzly, I have been here but just jumped on to list some patterns. I had brunch with makereal, also, one of her daughters and 2 grandkids yesterday morning. Its so neat to catch up but we never have enough time as you can imagine. We wished you were there, of course. Now that would be neat. I got up this morning and went to the pools for about an hour, which was so great, I have been a bit slack but I must try to get back in to it again. How is the last of your packing going.

smartgirl - 2010-04-05 18:26:00
2711

Sounds like you had a lovely visit! The packing is just about done. Did lots of work over the weekend including wiping window frames and cleaning the glass, defrosting 2 freezers. We are pretty much left with what we need on a day-to-day basis which is a lttle weird and freaking my cats out. We have left their favourite spots untouched, though. I have early starts at work for the next 2 weeks till we go because of the school holidays and our holiday programme starts at 8.30.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-06 07:09:00

Hello grizzly. It was great to see Jo but we were rushing. Sigh. I intend to go back when I have the time and spend a whole day with her. The frist Motel we booked into in Rotorua was so inappropriate for M it was not funny. A booked online and it was a family unit(not) It had a mezzanine floor with a queensize bed up there and nothing else. No ensuite bathroom, no door atthe top of the stairs. It had a fold up bed downstairs. I stayed at Mum's the night as she was so quite I was concerned. She usually talks most of the night but no!!!! A stayed at the motel and had a hell of a time keeping M off the steps. She asked for a safety gate and they told her to put a suitcase there. Anyway they will receive a complaint as they charged for M and did not even supply a highchair. Also they would not refund for the night we did not stay there. We are also going to complain to the Motelers Assoc. Let us see their star rating drop. Moved out the next day. I rang my usual motel and they told us to go straight round. They had been booked out the night before. Gave us a lovely unit with 2 bedrooms for the same price. It was heaven after the previous night. Spent all of our time there with Mum and family. Arrived back this afternoon.I went and picked the dogs up, transfered water from bottom tank(it rained a bit while we were away) threw the washing in the laundry and collapsed in a heap. It is so good to be home. HA HA.

makerealbany - 2010-04-06 22:03:00
2713

Hi smartgirl. It was lovely to see you even though it was so short a time. Clint says I can go down at any time so I am making plans. ha ha.

2714

Kid day bll happy easter to you too girl. It has been awhile. How are things?

makerealbany - 2010-04-06 22:06:00
2715

Good to have you all back! What a dreadful time you had with that motel. Shocking service, they deserve whatever you throw at them. B5 had his first day at our holiday programme yesterday, he was dead on his feet by 3pm and asleep on my couch by 4pm. No idea how he is going to last till 5.30 the days his Mum will pick him up. Having working parents is pretty tough on kids, I reckon. The kids have to toughen up to deal with the environments they are put in and the different sorts of people around them too soon, these days. There is no time for the nurturing and cuddles etc for these parents who are rushing from one thing to the next. Priorities are very different from 20-30 years ago. And you can see the results of that in the kids and how they cope with life. And I see the government is going to have another go and opening hours for retailers over Easter. So few days for parents to not go to work or the Mall, already.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-07 07:17:00
2716

Opening shops at Easter is crazy, there are so few times when people can get together now that these four days really make a difference to their lives. Your wee man is lucky he has his nana to take care of him grizzly, what would these kids do with out their nanas. My miss four told me yesterday that miss two had her face painted but she didnt as she wanted to look like a big girl, she also said she was too big to call me nanny now and that I was nana, but last night she was tired and I instantly became nanny again. She has no influences to encourage her to grow up so you wonder where they get it from.

smartgirl - 2010-04-08 05:52:00
2717

Makereal, that motel experience was shocking, it must have cost you a fortune. I hope you get it refunded to you. I dont understand why they are not honest when they take the booking cause you will only find out when you arrive that things are not as you were assured they would be. Perhaps they think that once you are there you will just accept it. Bu..ers.

smartgirl - 2010-04-08 05:54:00
2718

Boy, you are onboard early this morning, smartgirl! I agree with you about the motel issue, makerealbany definitely due a refund. I wonder how you set up one of those 'blog' sites to let others know about the place? This shifting business is getting rather stressful this time around, money wise and dealing with the current landlord more than the packing up stuff. We have to hire a wee truck this time, first time ever, as hubby could always get one from work prior to his career change. This particular landlord is the first ever to actually want the window replaced where we put in the cat door. $219, thank you. And don't even mention the outdoor tv aerial!! It is costing excactly the same to buy a new one and have it installed at the new place than to move this one. It really bugs me that this landlord will benefit if we leave it though. Petty, eh? And I just can't seem to win Lotto to help out!!!!!

grizzly4 - 2010-04-08 07:12:00
2719

You will surely be glad to get rid of this landlord. I wonder who the next poor tennants are, I bet he is already planning on how to harras them. I was thinking the same thing about he blog sites. You should sell him the aerial, haha. How is your cough these days. I would love to win something reasonable on lotto, I am not greedy, so I dont want to win the big one. My girls are just waking up so its off to make them some breakfast.

smartgirl - 2010-04-08 07:30:00
2720

Hi girls. It is pretty hectic here and I have hardly got the time to jump online. Have to rush out again but will catch up over weekend. Everything is happening at once.

makerealbany - 2010-04-08 17:12:00
2721

Grrr..... It's never ending my DIL"s expectations on me! It's her birthday tomorrow and has planned a ten pin bowling trip and pot-luck tea (to keep the cost down for people apparently). Still have to make a decent meal to take!! Now she wants me to have L2 overnight so she can go out after tea. No brainer that my house is all packed up, including the spare beds, linen etc. And I am knackered from working long hours this week and looking after her boys after work till I pick her up and take them all home! Guess who is saying "No" this morning and is really stressed about doing it and really angry that she asked in the first place.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-09 07:36:00
2722

No point in asking landlord to pay for aerial he will just claim damages to his roof for putting it up in the first place, despite him giving permission at the time! Looks like they are going to sell, the rude wife brought a real estate agent through on Wednesday night.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-09 07:39:00
2723

Oops, I've frightened you all away! Sorry, better today.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-10 09:12:00
2724

Grizzly, I did have to laugh when I read your message. I have been busy with everything in general. I was wide awake at 10 to 5 so I though I may as well get up. I am so used to getting up at six, I think I am still adjusting to daylight saving ending. Three of us girls are going to the pools and then out for coffee later so that will be fun. Have a good day girls.

smartgirl - 2010-04-11 05:04:00
2725

Hi grizzly. No you did not frighten me away girl. Ha ha.I spent 3 nights at my son's place and he has not got the internet at the moment. I have been flat out too. Darn cheek of your DIL. What a bl---y nerve. That girl ought to wake up and smell the roses before you dump a load of manure on her silly head. I hope you told her NOOOOOOOOOOO. I have done a lot for my family this week but they appreciate it and always ask me if I am sure it is okay. If I say no I have other plans they accept it. Mind you they all spoil me when they can. I have had my grandson and his girlfriend staying in my cottage while I have been away. Tidied it up really well before they left. His mother taught that boy well. My granddaughter is here with me tonight. She is on school holidays still.

makerealbany - 2010-04-11 22:22:00
2726

Hi smartgirl. It was my grandson that you met in Hamilton staying here. My kids have been up to something. They all met today while I babysat and they look like they are plotting something big time. I have a feeling I WILL HAVE SOME NEWS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. mmmmmmmmm. Need an early night feeling shattered. Will be back on form tomorrow.

makerealbany - 2010-04-11 22:27:00
2727

I did say "no" and I survived! DIL and her family are very scary at times. Went bowling on Saturday and they had a huge row out in public, screaming at each other. My daughter and I were so embarrassed and I wasn't it in the best mood by then any way as we arrived on time and they all arrived half an hour late. I don't know how my son copes sometimes, mind you he's a bit like me and tries to keep the peace.Haha. Gave them one of our cars for a couple of weeks so I don't have to do the taxiing after work this week before we shift or next week while I'm on holiday. Another productive day yesterday, cleaned the oven and all the kitchen cupboards and walls etc.Roll on Saturday.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-12 07:26:00
2728

There that was not so hard Grizzly saying No. Congrats on that girl. Yep roll on Saturday and then you will be out of there. Hell you made me feel guilty for 10 seconds. Ha ha. All that cleaning. I have whizzed in and out of here and it darn looks like it too. Have my teenage granddaughter staying so I am definitely not cleaning up until she goes home. Teenagers are worse than the littlies for "mess making" as the babies say. Lol. My darn rash on my arms has not healed and the stuff the Doc gave me is not making any difference whatsoever. Sigh. On the brighter side my feet are so much better it is wonderful. I am shattered again so off to bed now.

makerealbany - 2010-04-12 22:14:00
2729

Check out this auction 283333731, do you have to go around and pick it all up. I did laugh when it said some in good condidion.

smartgirl - 2010-04-13 05:22:00
2730

I wonder did they just toss it out there? Picking it all up would be back breaking and imagine all the bits of grass etc that has probably attached itself. No thank you! Could be a new gimmick for 'natural' wool. Haha. When I finally collapse on the couch I am knitting more prem size outfits for the shop. Have to find wee buttons for a pink fairisle cardy I finished over the weekend and have started a wee sleeveless vest and I thought I might do long pants to go with it. Having fun scaling these patterns down.
Sorry to hear about your arms, makerealbany, is it shingles still or something else?

grizzly4 - 2010-04-13 07:35:00
2731

Yes that wool auction is a hard case alright smartgirl. Looks like they tossed it out for the birds to use as nesting material. Cheeky begger aren't I. Shingles got infected. Most likely some plant sap or whatever. Healing now but ruddy itchy. Well my teenage granddaughter has gone home and I have just finished cleaning the cottage. Whoopee. Back to normal. It appears my kids have organized a trip for me. I am still in shock about it. I have to get fit and well by the end of May. So tomorrow I am starting a plan. My Passport expired in Jan darn it so have to get that organized. Had a good day today but no knitting for a few days now. Starting to have withdrawal symptoms ha ha.

makerealbany - 2010-04-13 22:06:00
2732

Good morning girls. There was a bit of rain in the early morning. Gardens are lapping it up. Must check the tank. Water has been so low. I have done everything on my list this morning so feeling very motivated. I have decided to stop using the cortizone cream on my arm because it looks really red and feels like ???? so maybe the darn stuff has burnt my skin. Must google to see if that can happen. Does feel as if I have dipped it in a pot of hot water though. Dah!!!! I lost a library book on my trip to Rotorua so I have to go and fess up. I am so careful normally but cannot work out where I lost it. Last time I had it was at Mum's but she says it is not there. Mind you I am going down for the night with my son for Anzac Dawn Parade so I might just renew it and check myself first. What a good idea!!!!Lol. Delaying the inevitable? I hope not. Off to the shops today with Miss M. I have the chains to tie her down into her stroller in the back seat ha ha. Seriously though I cannot let her out or she is running everywhere.

makerealbany - 2010-04-14 06:42:00
2733

How cold does it get there grizzly? I need to organize some stuff for my grandson who is there at uni.

makerealbany - 2010-04-14 06:44:00
2734

A trip to where!!!!???? You left out the important bit? Is Christchurch cold? Well .... you have to watch out for the easterly breezes, they are a bit nippy on the sunniest day. Definitely hoody's required. When we hit May the mornings are frost and temperatures can get down to 0 till spring. The southerly winds are biting cold during the winter so he will need warm socks, beanie, scarf and gloves. I find layers are the answer so can take some off if the day warms up or spent in centrally heated lecture theatres. Have I put him off yet? It's the cold winds that are the worst, not the odd rainy day.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-14 07:27:00
2735

2 more sleeps and I am out of here! Everything I can do is done and now it's the waiting game till we get the keys tomorrow afternoon and pick up the truck. I am getting quite excited, I have to say. Had a bit of a 'to'do' with Tower Insurance when I rang to change our address and cover our shift. They found that many mistakes in our policy, I was furious. Both cars in the same policy! Well who would have thought that was serious as long as we are covered and have been paying the right amount! And a past claim (3 years ago) for a broken window (thanks to a wayward stone flicking up from the lawn mower) should never have been approved because we don't own our own house. I have never said we did, so not my fault once again. But, boy, they made such a fuss about their clerical errors. Get a life and just sort it. I left my cellphone in the car when I got home from work and didn't notice till bed-time. 5 calls from Tower insurance and yet they never called our landline which was sitting on the couch by me all evening! Not very efficient, eh? But not sure I will change after the hassle at work over those burglaries, either.
I have a 12 hour day at work today and then I have to follow hubby back to his work to leave the work car there as we have the week off next week. Yippee!

2737

See what you mean smartgirl phew!!!!!!

makerealbany - 2010-04-15 22:23:00
2738

To answer your question grizzly. My kids have organized a trip for me at the end of May. I am going to Italy to meet up with my youngest son and DIL. I have always wanted to see Michaelangelo's work and now I shall. We will also go to Paris and Spain. Two of my kids have already done this trip so the kids decided I should go and have some fun. I am really excited but was worried about medical things. "Thats why we have got you medical insurance" was the reply. 'What about the babies" All under control they say. One girl will take a week off and they will help each other. I came up with every reason I could think of to not go and they had all the answers and probelms worked out. I am so proud of them. What a nice thing to do for their Mum.

makerealbany - 2010-04-15 22:30:00
2739

The kids are giving me a list of the bare essentials to take, etc, etc. I have had a busy week but we had a fun day at the Park today. Day off tomorrow. Yippee. Grizzly insurance companies are pathetic. I have life insurance and I signed it over to my son's so they can pay for my funeral in about 20 years time if I live as long as my Mum has. HA HA. Anyway I rang to get a form for a payout of the dividends on the investment section and even though I am still paying the premiums and my sons have to sign the forms(fair enough) They would not even send me the form. One of my boys has to ring. My son told me not to worry about it but I do not want my kids to have to give me spending money. After all the money from investment is mine. So my son will ring tomorrow and give them a bollocking and get the form. Bl--dy cheek. I have been a client for 40 years. I signed it over to the boys so they did not have to wait for Lawyers etc to sort out my funeral. Having been widowed twice I do not want them to have the same probelms I had with my first Husband's death. He was Italian so my son will be trying to find relations. You will be so happy to get out of that place grizzly. JUST YELL YAHOO AS YOU ARE LEAVING.

makerealbany - 2010-04-15 22:42:00
2740

Yahoo, yourself. ITALY, Paris & Spain!!!!! Wow, amazing kids you have and to organise all the rest is truly terrific of them. Good on you, you certainly deserve it!
I am going off-line for a few days (I'm going to assume everything with the phone & internet changing over will be as straight forward as I want it to be) so have a good weekend ladies and I will talk to you next week.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-16 07:15:00
2741

Well grizzly, hope the move went okay girl. I bet you are surrounded by things to unpack. Ugh. Still it will be nice to set up again. How are the cats getting on? I raced down to the Warrant of Fitness place and got my SIL'S truck done. He arrives home on Wednesday so he will be pleased. Did that by the skin of my teeth. HA HA. Just tootled around for the rest of the day. Bought a book for the boy next door who feeds my cat when I am away for the night or so. He is a lovely kid and was pleased to get his book. It is a series so I will keep getting them for him as he is the best pet minder I know. I was ducking and diving from certain visitors today as well. Ha ha. Just wanted to be carefree without time restraints today. Had a good day and arm is healing. Not itching as much. I am going to go and sew up a little cardi for K. He walked 4 steps to Moi and I was so thrilled. J tells me I am K's Pet. Now that I find really funny.

makerealbany - 2010-04-17 22:39:00
2742

Goodness, how old is K now? Is he walking early? The shift went really well although Broadband has only just been connected instead of the Saturday as organised. The beds for the boys were the first things to be organised if they needed a sleep on Saturday but since then everything I'm not sure where to put has been put in that room. The rest of the house is just about set, just need to put up my photos etc on the walls. Hasn't taken long, really. The girls are coping (cats that is) not letting them outside for a few days till they get their bearings. Have to be careful opening doors and windows at present because of them, and wouldn't you know it, we've had some lovely hot weather! Worked in the shop this morning, which is of course now on the other side of town and enjoyed doing something 'normal'. Trouble is I've got to go back over there tonight for a meeting. Won't be an issue when I'm at work, 'cos I'll be over there any way but this week is a bit of a pain when I'm on holiday. I'm looking forward to having some afternoons in the sun to read or knit. Seems like ages since I've done that. When do you go to Italy, Makeralbany?

grizzly4 - 2010-04-19 14:40:00
2743

Wow good going grizzly. I am amazed at how organised you are girl. Yes it may take a while for the girls to get their bearings. Had a hell of a day arguing with telecom about my son's phone account. GRRRRR. K is nearly one so it will be fun tomorrow. I will take M to playgroup and then shoot home. My daughter and K will have lunch with us and she will be off to work. When Daughter no 2 gets home at 5 I will take K home to Orewa and feed and bath him, then cook tea for the teenagers, etc, etc. When his Mum finishes I will drive home. We will get in the groove. Ha ha. My daughter can take my car to work so we do not have to move carseats as he is still in the 2nd size one. I am going at the end of May. Too darn close.

makerealbany - 2010-04-19 18:45:00
2744

What a pain going for a meeting when you are on holiday. I have some serious thinking to do about my voluntary work. I do not want to keep doing the hours I have been doing and it looks like another PG is on the cards and I am B--ered if I will sit on that committee and do all the reports like I did last time. No way.

just popped in to say hi and i love crafts too, mostly knitting and sewing. Hope you all have a good evening

suzy59nz - 2010-04-19 21:52:00
2746

Hi suzy, we would be lost without these crafts. Makereal, how wonderful. I hope the air is clear before you go or you wont get too far. The weekend before last we went out to brunch to say goodbye to my friend going to england and europe for 5 weeks. She was moaning that she had wished she had a stopover in Hong Kong as she only had 17 hours there on the way home. Well she was in the air when it was announced the shut down and has been in Hong Kong since Thursday. I am not sure if she will come home or stahy and continue with her trip when they finally get the all clear. It will be total kaos when the planes start flying again. The moral is be careful what you wish for.

smartgirl - 2010-04-19 22:12:00
2747

Yikes smartgirl. Your poor friend. Yes we never know what could happen. I have just got home from my daughters. She finished her ist shift at 11 tonight. She had a good day and as she said she knew little K was safe with his Nana so she didn't worry about the kids. M had a fun day with her cousin and has to learn a bit about sharing Nana. HA HA. Took K home to Orewa at 6 and the teenagers had eaten their tea, cleaned up after themselves and had even got all the washing in. Wonders will never cease. Lol. Little K took awhile to settle down tonight but all in all a great day. I am off to a 7 am start so I am now going to bed.

makerealbany - 2010-04-21 01:40:00
2748

Hi there suzy welcome to the days of our lives. HA HA.

makerealbany - 2010-04-21 01:43:00
2749

I truly do not know how you cope with these late nights! If I'm not tucked up by 10.30 I am asleep on the couch. Haha. This week off is a bit too busy for my liking. Hubby has been our daughter's support person in 2 meetings since Monday. The first one was ALL afternoon! These are dismissal meetings at her work!!! All happened due to her being off work for surgery!!! Gave her yesterday off work to give them time to make a decision. Hubby and S have to be back there this afternoon for decision. This company has already lost 4 unfair dismissal suits in the last 12 months, you'd think they'd learn, don't you? As for me I am planting the plants I have brought with me and trying to think calm thoughts instead of the murderous ones that spring to mind.

grizzly4 - 2010-04-21 09:58:00
2750

Oh that is very stressful for you all grizzly. I hate those kind of meetings that take forever. I hope all goes well for her. You just keep on planting girl and keep calm. I had another good day with the babies. T finished at 7-30 tonight so was home a bit earlier. My SIL( M's Dad is home for a month now so will not have to do really early starts here. Yah!!!!!!! All day she kept asking when Mummy was coming home because she knew she was, then, going to pick up Dad at the airport. She has been a very excited little girl. I am off to bed early tonight. lol.
