Hi Paul,

How do you find postal stationery lucrative ? There is little trade on these items and only were there is continuous trade value goes up.

Does this Samuels catalogue show all Stationery and only New Zealand ?

Erich

Can is the Keyword I used Erich,
The catalogue's I mentioned are New Zealand only .I am a novice on this subject but I have done well with some of my preprinted registered covers recently and this has sparked my interest.Another interesting area of Philately and hopefully another feather in my cap in the near future.

Hi, this thread is too long to look for this answer so sorry if it's been asked. Is there an easy way to remove stamps from postcards without damaging the stamp or card?? Thanks

Dab water on the stamp only with paint brush/cotton bud ,take your time and after a few applications the stamp should peel off.

Hi, Can someone please enlighten me. I have 2 different 1977 Christmas FDC. One has 3 colours on the bottom border and the other has the yellow missing. Is this an error or were they produced like that? Not able to put up a photo as I don't know how! Thanks.

Since everyone is usually very helpful, In my grandfathers stuff there is a post card from Molamenqing 1981, with 10 signtures on it from the climbing team that first climbed the mountain , anyway the post stamp and stamp have the date of 1981.4.6 ... so is this something all members of the NZ stamp society got? seems random, and dunno if it would be worth anything? any thoughts?

The Everest Expedition covers have a small following. the value of signed covers depends on what signatures you have and did the Expedition succeed with their climb. price will usually be about $10 to $20 unless you have a famous signature there.

re 1977 Xmas FDC.

It's rather difficult to know unless you put up a photo.
It's not that difficult.
There are instructions somewhere on the site.

The bottom one has no yellow border at the bottom left. Any knowledge would be helpful. Thank you.

In the past, people used to collect used stamps for worthy organisations as a fundraising thing. I've got lots of used Australian stamps I would like to donate if this still practice still exists. Anybody know?

Hi, I sell stamps for charity but as you are in Auckland you may want to contact guide dogs RNZFB in white pages. I think they still collect them. Or alternatively list them on here and donate the proceeds to your favourite charity.

re 1977 Xmas FDC.

It's probably a misprinted cover.
I haven't seen one like that before.
It could be worth something although I have no idea how much.

Thanks.
Any idea where I could obtain a possible value?
I took it to Stamp Club last night and they agreed about a possible misprint but were not any help on where to get a value, if any.

Could someone with an up to date Campbell Paterson have a look at G6b, Penny Universal, Reserve Plate perf 11 and let me know the current value of it used, thanks :)
Is there any interest in this sort of material these days ?
The current and past auctions wern't much help answering that one.
Many Thanks.

Thanks for that donaldo, my old CP is only updated to 1985 and has it at 1500$.
I agree with you about cat prices.
Somethings only worth what someone else is willing to pay.
I'm sure theres many dealers around with stashes of "supposedly" high cat items that they can't sell for 20% cat.
Part of the fun of the game.
Enjoy

I use "zippo" lighter fluid. Let them soak in it for about two to three minutes then the backing paper should come away from the stamp. Place the stamp face down on a piece of paper and run a metal ruler over it to remove the sticky gum. Most stamps only need one wash but sometimes they need more. Hope this helps.

I have tried this and it works well as long as you follow the guy's instructions who did the video.

Sorry to butt in, I need to pick a brain or two. I am trying to find out about some old stamps, they are N.Z stamp duty with Queen Victoria's head on them, I have looked in several cattledogs but I can't find a picture of them. These one's seem to have the writing around the wrong way in the circle surrounding the queens head. All the pictures I have seen have the words New Zealand above the Queens head and the words stamp duty below, these are the other way around, stamp duty above the head and New Zealand below, is this common and are they still the same value, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

They will be fiscals or fiscally used stamps used on legal documents ,a scan would help as they could be worth a few cents or a few hundred dollars.
Regards Paul.

in some countries, if you collect enough stamps for a hospital, it raises enough money to donate a bed to the hospital. does that happen in new zealand?

If you go your images in My TradeMe and click on the image it will take you to a page with just your image on it.
Copy the url from your browsers address bar and post to the message board.
It will look like

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/94/XXXXXXXXX_full.jp
g

Where the X's will be a number that identifies your image.

You have me a tad intrigued at present as to the best of my knowledge the NZ is always at the top but then I'm no philatelic guru.

To quote you,
"I have looked in several cattledogs but I can't find a picture of them."
Err, I'm not surprised !!!
;)
Enjoy.

By Geofge I think I got it, me tired now

The 8d- $15.00,6/- $20-$30,2d-$8.50,1d- $3.50.These are current Cat values and value depends on what die they are ,perf ,watermark etc they date from 1867.If I was selling on trademe I would bunch the 1d's together starting at $1-00 ,the 2d at $4.00,the 6/- at $12.00,the 8d at $7.00 and the 2d at $4.00.A good clear individual scan including a description of the condition of the stamp ,ceases thins etc is also helpful.

Hi there, I own a stamp collection I want to sell - last valued in 2001 with $ 17000 for insurance purposes. I collected these stamps further until 31.12.2008. They are NZ, Aussie and PNG stamps - all in albums. Where can I get a sales-value ? I really want to sell them as a lot and not fiddly-diddly here and there. Thanks for your input.

If you are not prepared to do the fiddly-diddly google or yellow pages for a Stamp dealer or three. They are you best quick money option.
