| but at the house before we had a puppy and I was 8 months pregnant with the baby form the first story. I had just got home from the supermarket with some doggy biscuits and put them on the back step till I went outside. I went off to do something first and when I came back to shift the bag I felt something slide under my foot and I looked and a rat was running down the back steps. I nearly gave birth to the baby there and then. smartgirl - 2010-02-28 10:17:00 |
| Makereal, have a safe trip and enjoy the birthday. I am looking forward to catching up with you on your way back. smartgirl - 2010-02-28 10:18:00 |
| Yuck, yuck YUCK!! Let's change the subject. We move mid - April and drive past the new house now and then to re-motivate ourselves. Haha. Hubby went past yesterday to find them having the roof painted. I have bought a couple of those big zip bags with the intention of cleaning out my craft cupboard and packing up the 'really important' stuff that I am keeping. Haha. Maybe 2 bags aren't enough.... grizzly4 - 2010-03-02 09:11:00 |
| HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, grizzly4 - 2010-03-02 09:15:00 |
| Happy Birthday Makereal, I did not know that you were March as well. No wonder we clicked. I hope you had a lovely day. I have had a great day with my girls, and have them for the next two days. Miss H told me today that when she grows up she wants to be a Nanny like me. I also said I was going to get a dog one day and she said dont give up on me Nanny. smartgirl - 2010-03-02 22:20:00 |
| Oops I think I made a boo boo! I think I have mis-read one of the messages which mentioned a birthday. Was it you I was supposed to be singing to, smartgirl, not makerealbany??!! Really sorry if I have mucked up. grizzly4 - 2010-03-03 07:55:00 |
| Hi girls. Frantically busy here. It was my Mum's birthday ha ha. Thanks for the waiata anyway grizzly. Catch you later. makerealbany - 2010-03-03 09:31:00 |
| Another hectic day. Have to go to my cousin's husband's funeral in Welcome Bay tomorrow. Have to pick up my poor Mum at 6. Hope it is warm for her in the morning. I am now off to have a spa. The old bones are aching with all the sitting. Ha ha. I could not hack this every day. Very hard to be so inactive. Cheers and keep the home fires burning. makerealbany - 2010-03-03 17:42:00 |
| Grizzly, you have confused me too. Mine is on the 7th, 2 years off a biggie for me. Makereal, I sometime wish I had a spa but I think once the novelty was over I might not use it enough. Have a great day girls. smartgirl - 2010-03-04 05:54:00 |
| Yep, I confuse myself sometimes. MMMM.... I wonder which biggie it is, smartgirl? 21? Do you have plans for Sunday, then? I'm not at work today & tomorrow as daughter's surgery is today. Will be up at the hospital by noon. Poor thing's been up all night with her wee boy cutting another tooth. Everything happens at once. grizzly4 - 2010-03-04 09:30:00 |
| Phew. Yesterday was a tough day. Daughter was so calm and relaxed before surgery but in lots of pain now of course. I feel so awful for her. My cough got worse because of the air conditionong in the hospital which didn't help. Had a sleep in this morning and going back up to see her. grizzly4 - 2010-03-05 10:02:00 |
| Hi grizzly. i hope your girl is okay. You must be exhausted as well. Had to take Mum to my Cousin's Husband's funeral yesterday so now I have to work until late tonight until late and all dat Saturday UGH. makerealbany - 2010-03-05 12:41:00 |
| smartgirl. I will ring you on Sunday for a coffee. makerealbany - 2010-03-05 12:42:00 |
| Makereal, that will be great, I look forward to it. Grizzly I hope your daughter is feeling better with every day. My plans for Sunday is Church with my neighbour, who shares the same b/day as me, then I am going to dinner at my daughters. Mr T (9) has rugby weigh in in the morning. I wish 21 was the big one some times but then I would not have the kids and g/kids that I have so I would hate that. You can add 39 more years to that. smartgirl - 2010-03-06 07:12:00 |
| HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! grizzly4 - 2010-03-06 08:06:00 |
| Thanks grizzly, I am off to Palmers for a coffee with a friend who has to work all day. Then church and straight to lunch with some friends and hopefully catching up with makereal. Then I am having dinner with the kids tonight. Thankfully I dont feel a day older in my mind than 40, its a shame about my broken down body. But I would rather have it that way than a broken down mind. smartgirl - 2010-03-07 08:38:00 |
| I hope you two have a lovely visit, lucky things. My day has been made for me though, daughter is on her way home as I write this! I am really proud of her and we are both so excited as to the change in her life this surgery should bring. She and I had a few hours to ourselves yesterday afternoon in the hospital so we raided the vending machines for chocolate and coffee and reminisced about the journey that brought her to this point. Best counselling ever!! Haha. She's dreading the part of going home so sore to a 21 month old, though. Hopefully the plans we have made mean she isn't alone with him at all so fingers crossed it all works out till she's her new self. grizzly4 - 2010-03-07 10:59:00 |
| Boy, I had an early start this morning. Really not used to being up at 5.30am!! Was at my daughters by 7 and had baby B up, dressed, gave him breakfast and delivered to daycare by 7.50am! Not bad eh? S is doing so well that I'm not having to stay with her as originally planned till her partner gets home at lunch time. She is still on high doses of pain killers so she's best to sleep while she can in the mornings. Was back home here with time to kill before going to work so caught up on emails to family. I wonder how I'll be after 3 weeks of rthese early starts? Doesn't bear thinking about... grizzly4 - 2010-03-08 09:15:00 |
| Hello Hello Hello. Nearly back to normal. I was disappointed I missed you smartgirl and a belated Happy Birthday mate. I was running like a loon all week. Working from early to late at night. I had 4 people to see on Sunday and I should have been better organized and got to Hamilton earlier. Darn it all. Never mind we will catch up soon. By hook orby crook girl Lol. makerealbany - 2010-03-09 00:19:00 |
| Right grizzly it is your turn again to race around like a loon. So pleased things are going well for your daughter. You will be had it after 3 weeks. Yep this morning was pretty good going for you grizzly. It is really amazing what women can achieve when they have to. The little ones hugged me and kissed me so much and then stuck to me like glue. Any one would think they missed their Nana. Lol. Caught up with my sick son who is pretty down at the mo. Did his washing and shopping etc. He asked his flatmate to leave as he has been racking up large internet bills and toll bills. makerealbany - 2010-03-09 00:27:00 |
| Also the swine must have turned off the fridge and freezer as they are on different walls and all the food in them was ruined. Most likely did it for spite. My son never noticed as his painkillers had him pretty zonked. So that was nice cleaning out the smelly things. I had to race off and buy some vanilla essence. After wiping them out with that it was so much nicer. I know he was lonely after my grandson went to uni but he was better off financially by himself. It will take him months to sort out the phone and internet bills. makerealbany - 2010-03-09 00:36:00 |
| I had two parcels to collect at the PO. today from TM and next week I have to get rid of some stuff. I am getting hemmed in again Ha ha.I did not knit a stitch all the time I was away. I ask you? Was that fair? No No no. I will catch up this week. makerealbany - 2010-03-09 00:39:00 |
| No problem makereal, I arrived home from lunch, ran inside for 5 mins and was back in my car to go to kids for dinner. yesterday Miss H started morning kindy so picked her up and her mum and dad and Miss B took me out for a lovely lunch. I never even got to the computer yesterday. Glad you made it back in one peice. smartgirl - 2010-03-09 07:46:00 |
| You will have to invest in a pair of skates the rate you are going grizzly otherwise you will never keep up. I am so pleased about your daughter, it wont be long and she wont know herself. Dont forget to put your feet up even if it is for 5 mins. smartgirl - 2010-03-09 07:47:00 |
| My 5 minutes will be to check in here!! It's actually kind of nice to be a part of S and B's morning. She had him up and fed by the time I got there this morning and says she is enjoying wee jobs around the house, although her partner tells her off. I tell her to keep feeling useful, so she feels like she's achieved something each day. I am going to the Ellerslie Flower show tomorrow as my treat. I so enjoyed it last year despite the storm we were having at the time. I'm still finding knitting time in the evenings but was nodding off by 9.30 last night, I have to admit. Poor old Nana, that I am. grizzly4 - 2010-03-09 08:51:00 |
| Did some babysitting this arvo and I was worn out. Don't think I have caught up after last week. Ha ha. Just finished the ironing and heading to bed. Hoping it will rain. The gardens are dry and the ground is spliting. Tanks are low and tempers are flaring. Ho ho. Even the animals appear to be off key. makerealbany - 2010-03-09 22:41:00 |
| Did you get to the flower show grizzly? Tell us about it. I have always wanted to go but somehow other things get in the way. Sigh. makerealbany - 2010-03-11 00:13:00 |
| It was great!!And it's raining today so pleased our trip was yesterday. So many exciting ideas for gardens and outdoor living. I bought a couple of little pukeko ornaments for my new house. It was a lovely break just wandering around being inspired for 4 hours. grizzly4 - 2010-03-11 11:52:00 |
| Glad you enjoyed the show grizzly. That is really nice of your girl to pass your knitting on. We do that in our family as well. Just got home from visiting my sick son. He is still not right. He is always in pain but seems to be going thru a really bad patch lately. I cooked tea for us and we watched a movie. By that I mean Paws the cat and I watched while he dozed off and on.Lol. Still no rain to mention but at lest all his washing got dry again. I am off to try and help my daughter get her little guy's sleeping patterns at night a bit more regulated. Going up tomorrow. She is worn out with the sleepless nights. The teenagers sleep thru it all thank heavens. He has never been very good at nights. Think we need to get tougher. He has been spoilt a bit by everyone. So as soon as he opens his mouth he expects his mum to run to him and she has done. I know it will be hard for her but we have to get him settled as she is off to work parttime soon. I am off to bed finally. Nitey nite.!!!!! makerealbany - 2010-03-12 01:34:00 |
| Boy, it's cold down here this morning but at least the sun is shining now. Had to have the hear pump on last night and all the drapes were drawn by the time it got dark. A bit too like winter for my liking, and I coughed like crazy with the cooler temp. My eldest grandson (also a B) turns 5 on Sunday and he starts the school opposite my wortk on Monday. He also starts at our after school programme on Monday afternoon. A very long day for him in completely new environments. It will be lovely having him where I work in the afternoons. He will really start to grow up fast now. This time the birthday cake I am making is a swimming pool cake. Haha. grizzly4 - 2010-03-12 08:35:00 |
| Still really cold this morning, wish I had put the heat pump on before I hopped in the shower!!! Picking up S and baby B to bring home here for the day, shortly. Stopping off at Spotlight first as B has grown out of his 'Wiggles' dressing gown that I made him last year. He really loves Elmo so we are on the hunt for Elmo Polar fleece. What are the chances? grizzly4 - 2010-03-13 09:07:00 |
| It was colder here also. I am on my own for a week and Mr L has gone to Sydney to see his dad. House is so quite. I have heaps of things I want to do but I bet the time flies too fast. smartgirl - 2010-03-13 11:41:00 |
| Hi girls. Must admit I felt cold last night. Put my electric blanket on to warm up the bed. Ha ha. Just got home again. Took my grandson for a walk today to the town to do some shopping. I love his pram. It is a Mountain Buggy so I can wheel him on the grass and thru the park, etc. There is a large carrier underneath and by the time we had visited the Fruit and Vege shop, the Bakery and the bookshop it was packed. We had a ball and he never slept a wink the little monkey. makerealbany - 2010-03-14 00:54:00 |
| That will be nice having your grandson so close grizzly. It will be hard for him going to school and he will be so tired for a few weeks. I remember my 21 year old grandson starting school. My daughter and I were wrecks the first few weeks. Lol. How is your daughter feeling now? You must be getting tired yourself now what with all the extra running around. Not know about Elmo Fleece grizzly. You may be asking for a miracle girl!!!! makerealbany - 2010-03-14 00:59:00 |
| Well so it is quiet in your neck of the woods smartgirl. Must be strange being by yourself in the house. Bet you are tearing around with a list a mile long. I got home and my SIL has been busy because the side of the cottage has it's doors and windows covered in newspaper so he is trying to paint the last two sides. It has been windy though and he is going to be spraypainting. Glad I am home to cover the plants before he starts. I do not want paint over everything. Last year when he did the front and back he got paint over things. I remember moaning to you about that. Lol. makerealbany - 2010-03-14 01:05:00 |
| Yes makereal, but my list is 10 times longer than I will ever get done, then yestereday I decided to clean my wardrobe (not on the list). No wonder I moan I dont get the things I want done. Never mind. Up early this morning, I have had a few sleep ins this week and have missed out on the pool but it has been an extremely busy week so I can be forgiven. Mr L's dad is buying him a laptop while he is over so I will have mine all to myself. I wont know what to do with it. haha smartgirl - 2010-03-14 06:54:00 |
| Grizzly, I remember when my 18 year old g/son started school too. I think the story is the same with every family. I also remember the first time he flew to Australia. His mum, my other daughter and I all went to the airport to see him off. The call came for all the kids to go through and we all kissed and cuddled him and burst out crying, to be told they werent ready for them yet. When the time came we were much calmer. Poor kid, three women all bawling and he was only going for 10 days. The same 3 were back at midnight to meet him. smartgirl - 2010-03-14 06:57:00 |
| Cool memories for you guys! I must admit I was really excited till Friday when I had to deal with a couple of really difficult children on the programme and I realised how little he is going to be amongst the 'tough' kids. We are used to him being the 'tough' one around his brother and cousin. I'm not sure having him at work is going to be easy for me. Haha. grizzly4 - 2010-03-14 09:19:00 |
| This is how I am starting to look girls. I think I need to take sleeping tablets and go to bed earlier. Lol. Just pottered today and actually did some knitting tonight. !!!! Starting on things for my great grandson who is due in 8 weeks. His Mum wants a black blanket. Have I told you that? Cannot remember. What a weird world it is. I cannot do it. I refuse!!!! I don't mind dark colours but !!!!Some young people are crazy, don't you think? makerealbany - 2010-03-15 00:40:00 |
| Grizzly he will be okay. I do agree that some little children are a lot tougher than others. Miss 2 went visiting yesterday and really wore out the little boy she was playing with. He is older than her but he could not deal with her rushing and scurrying around playing with all his toys. He was very pleased when she left. She is always very busy and very vocal and we think she wore him out. Lol. She has had him visiting with his Parents at home so she was excited to visit him. She holds her own well at Playgroup now. makerealbany - 2010-03-15 00:46:00 |
| Good for you cleaning out the ward -drobe smartgirl. I don't know about you but I always find things I have bought and stashed in there and forgotten about. Ah well off to bed now. makerealbany - 2010-03-15 00:49:00 |
| Makereal, your message was the last on craft so mine is the first one today. talk abmout opposites. your Miss 2 sounds like my Miss b. unfortunately Miss h got bullied on her first 2 days at kindy and was devistated and not going back, but all is sorted and she cant wait to get back now. The young mums like black as it matches most of the prams etc today so I dont think she is too weird. I cant believe there is only 6 weeks to go. smartgirl - 2010-03-15 07:11:00 |
| Well I did not know that about the prams. Smartgirl. Ha ha You are onto it girl. Ah well maybe I will knit one relunctantly of course ha ha. Poor little H. M was bullied when she first went to Playgroup but not now. Ha ha. She told me off for driving past the Library but when we finally got there, she picked out her own books and started to read out loud" Once upon a time" She is a real character. This elderly man grinned at her and she gave him a dazzling smile back. She has 3 stories every night before bed. Cheeky monkey gets home and then asks" where are my library books Nana? Says thanks and carts them off into the house. makerealbany - 2010-03-15 22:46:00 |
| Good morning girls. Was up at 5 this morning and now I have finally woken up which means my brain is working. Ha ha. Did my reports and letters to staff, etc so feel like I have done something worthwhile this morning. Have to go and take M to playgroup. The Fire Department are coming in the "Big Red Truck" says M. lOL. Have a great day. makerealbany - 2010-03-16 08:27:00 |
| Yep I was early again today as well. Have delivered to B to his carer. made an Irish Stew for tea and just checking in here before doing some computer work for work. Our computers are still not up and running properly yet. grizzly4 - 2010-03-16 09:30:00 |
| SIL has finished painting the outside of the cottage and it looks great. Both my son and I have a lousy toothache so we will both be visiting the dentist this week. Ugh. My old dentist has retired and now I have to search for one that will not charge an arm and a leg. Drat. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. They have Community Doctors why don't they have Community Dentists? Will start looking tomorrow. I am a right sook when it comes to a toothache. Can tolerate anything else. Ah well a couple of painkillers and I am off to bed. makerealbany - 2010-03-16 22:52:00 |
| I agree about dentists! Free dental care for school children is wonderful but I look at the sweet food and drink that preschoolers are given by their parents and it's no wonder there is such a high percentage of tooth decay before they start school. I have banned lollipops from my house. Both my daughter and DIL think they are great treats for the kids. Well I don't, they should be putting a bit of effort into slicing up an apple. And I always get let left with the sticky mess on my furniture and the toys. No more, I say! grizzly4 - 2010-03-17 08:38:00 |
| I agree about the sweet food grizzly. Our little ones do not drink juice. Only water. They eat lots of fruit and we are not into lollipops either. Starting getting prices from the Dentists. I am going thru the yellow pages and You may have to pick me up off the floor. Some of them will not touch you until they take an xray first. Between 150 and 200 and then they start to work on your teeth. Crossed off 10 today. Sigh. makerealbany - 2010-03-17 23:28:00 |
| Smartgirl. Down in Hamilton Easter Sat. Staying the night and leaving on Sunday. A is going to a school reunion and I will have M so we can catch up. I hope you have the girls for a couple of hours. Will confirm times with A and let you know. makerealbany - 2010-03-17 23:30:00 |
| A wee trip at Easter sounds like a nice thing to do! Me, I will be packing. Four weeks to go so need to seriously fill some boxes and defrost the freezers. As we usually only get Sundays for some free time Easter will provide a couple of extra days to get organised, hopefully. grizzly4 - 2010-03-18 08:37:00 |
