morning ladies :) lol kuaka omgg that just made my day *giggles*.
That's good news about your car carole, always a relief when they pass.
I was suppose to take dad up to waikato hosp for an appointment yesterday but took on a days teaching. Dad had an angina attack while up there with no family around. I feel so damed guilty, he sounded so tired on the phone last night. He told me not to worry he was in good hands but that's not the point. I'll call in tomorrow (let him rest today) and see how he's doing.
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
The wool is acrylic Kuaka, nice and soft which is good.

Pleased to hear about the car Carole. I don't like MrP hanging the washing out, you get crooked towels with him, he hangs them from the corners , where as I fold a bit over that keeps them straight. I hang shirts from collars, saves ironing. But I always hangs the larger stuff on the outside and smalls on the inside. Don't know why I hide the undies persay, I mean everyone wears them lol.
Kiwimade don't feel guilty re Dad. He was in the best place to have an angina. and other than being supportive there's not a lot you can do when it happens. They do tire you out big time But he will be ok if he takes it quiet.
We cant be everywhere at all times.
Im sore this morning. But will hang out washing, and I have to go up the shop for Marg, I very seldom run out of things but thought I had a spare in the freezer and didn't lol..
Then ill rest the back and knit and crochet. Ill take a photo later of the blanket, I want to get a blue round done before I show everyone.
Have a good day all

Morning,
Hope your dad is feeling a lot better again Kiwimade.

looks like a nice day coming up here but a bit on the windy side - it's a holiday and show day but I'm not going to go and join the hot and sweaty crowds at the show. The garden is calling so hope to get out there for a while.

Have a good day everyone

Lovely morning here so far but the forecast is for rain (mind you they very often don't get it right for us people this far north of where the forecasters sit and look out the window) I think I will do some more to my curtain today and try to finish it this weekend - it's big, over 5 metres wides flat before I do the pleats, so it takes a bit of "handling".

Talking about why we hang the washing out in certain ways, I remember my aunty cursing once because she realised she'd hung it out from the wrong side of the washing line - I didn't have a clue what she was on about but she explained that she liked to stand with her back to the wind as she hung it but that particular day she had been facing the wind. I was only about 7 or 8 but I found that quite puzzling.

And a chap I worked with informed us one day that his wife washed a pair of his pyjamas every week and hung them on the line when she did the sheets, and he couldn't see the point because he never wore them. He said she did it because she didn't want the neighbours to know he slept in his birthday suit. He said he'd worn out several pairs of pyjamas this way during their 30 year marriage!

same here Tony put out his PJ's ever sheet change but sleep nude . I hate people seeing my big baggy bloomers next to his scanty undies , so put sheets and towels on out lines then undies and the bigger clothes on the other side as we have long lines from hills not a round one. why are we ladies so fussy about washing

carolev - 2013-10-25 09:28:00

I only have a couple of bits of washing line strung up from the underside of the roof of our little deck which is upstairs on the front corner of the house. One of the first things I did when we bought the house and moved in, was rip down the fishing line that the previous owner had there for a washing line. 10 days later and I had to put something up to dry the washing, but at least I used proper washing line type cord. I'd love a proper washing line either rotary or otherwise, but we really have nowhere to put it.

kuaka - 2013-10-25 10:32:00

lol I hang the towels on the outter lines too and knickers etc on the back line. My Nana always hung towels, teatowels etc from the biggest to the smallest.
Have had a huge morning in the garden so far - dug out a groundcover so I can plant some lavendar, african daisies, and a pink thing. Dug out the old rosemary bush (now that was work!) and replanted a new one, MrK has had the chainsaw out and chopped out an old rhodo and the old feijoa. Now I'll drag the branches into the paddock for burning on a nicer day. There is so much more light in the house, even though the trees were across the section and well away.
Need to get into town to pick up MrK's 'script then maybe some knitting this afternoon. Dad is Ok today but I'll still call in and see him tomorrow.
happy knitting :)

Its is funny with all the washing stories. I reckon mine would have been dry in 10 mins this morning. its soo windy out there. Told MrP I had return addresses on each item and used safety pins not pegs lol
Here is the start of my crochet blanket using Parrot verigated wool Im quite pleased with how it looks.

I just popped in because I am a little bored. It has been a while.
My Dad used to make his own undies and rather than put them on show she would hang them inside a pillow case .
Years ago my husband looked across the road and said.."I think T's wife has left him" I asked why? "because his washing is hung all weird" sure enough he was right. He who has never ever hung out washing himself.
All of our washing goes in the dryer these days as my son came and towed our clothesline away. I am not supposed to reach, bend, lift or carry these days.

My daughter wants me to knit her hat, mittens and neckwarmer so I am thinking of doing it in possum/merino as a special treat.

I am loving the colours in your crochet blanket *popeye*

grandmasue - I've knitted quite a bit of stuff in possum/merino and it is lovely to knit with and lovely and soft to wear.

morning :) oooohhh a stalker :P You could have some 'fun' with that though carole lol. Still, damed cheeky really.
Popeye, your crochet blanket looks lovely with all the bright colours :).
mmmmmmmm merino/possum..... lovely! And what a real treat too.
I'm planting out Dad's vegie garden this morning and some garden rubbish burning this afternoon, should get some knitting done this evening lol. Spring is a busy time for me :) Thank goodness I kept up with weeding etc over winter - that's given me the head start I need.
Happy knitting ladies and stay safe if you are on the roads this weekend.

Morning everyone.
Carole Id complain to the police but also make sure the person knows you have, so let us know when you have. silly people like to have their noses in other peoples business.

Hmm that posted before I was finished lol.

Im sure your Daughter will love the new set GMS... I have a friend who loves possum socks. Wayyy to hot for me. I do own socks but very very rare I actually wear them. A darling old lady knitting me a striped pair , was cool brought back memories of my childhood. I still have them cos they seldom get worn. Shes gone now so I keep them in memory.

My washing only gets hung out if Im feeling good GMS. With my back and stuffed shoulder it aint much fun. I figure theres only two of us so it doesn't really matter and it doesn't make a huge difference to the power bill. But I do love sheets and towels hung outside. So I have a low line I can use for those without too much trouble.

Sometimes I wish I didn't sleep so well lol means I wake up creaky, so I have self prescribed a lazy day knitting and crocheting. Im averaging 100 rows on my blanket a day and 2-3 colours on the crochet one.

The school has announced the date of the Gala, Nov 16th so I may have an extra weekend or two, to wait before they get the furniture. Probably just as well cos when I build things I tend to do it sitting on the floor and in my current state I might not manage to get back up. lol I want to buy a third pantry for the craft room too, so trying to be good.

Have a good day everyone. And if you are on the roads please be carefull. Id like to see us all here for another day.

Hi Ladies. Just popped in to thank everyone for their support (through our facebook page) over the last couple of days.

Talking about washing... I hate (with a passion) MrW hanging out the washing as he doesn't turn the sleeves of shirts all the way through and socks are half and half as well. Drives me batty. But then I hang all the undies together, socks together, trousers together, shirts together (I'm sure you know where I'm going with this LOL). Oh and each piece of clothing has to have both pegs the same colour. I use all one colour then start on the next. And our clothes line is just a piece of hard wearing yarn that is strung between the end of the garage and the front of the (same) garage but it goes across the back lawn to the end of the sleepout, throu a wee pully, to the front of garage and throu another pully, then down to a wee hook to be tied off. When not in use you just untie it and wind the rope up and tie it to the garage.

so much for getting dad's garden done, he's still not 100% so I'll leave it until Monday. So, instead I have cut back some huge bears paws and dug over a bit of garden, MrK has topped up garden where I have dug with fresh soil and planted the lavendars. Still more soil to go on and then it's the daisies turn. We've decided to dig out a bears paw so if anyone wants a plant which grows bigggg and covers lots of ground reasonably quickly, let me know. Has hugee leaves and tall bluish/purply flowers on a tall spike.
Just having a cuppa then I'll burn the garden waste.... better let the neighbour know so she can sort her washing and bring over any of her rubbish she wants burned as well.
Sometime today, I'll knit lol.
Happy knitting :)

OOPs am I missing something - can't find anywhere where carolev has named her stalker.
Perhaps this is NOT the place for feuds but just a happy chatty knitting group which is all that I have seen it as being up until now.

Keep smiling, pick up the needles and keep busy and life is sweet with no time for argy-bargy.
Lovely day here so off with niece and little ones for a swim at the pool.

morning ladies :) was being sick in the loo in the wee hours this morning, not sure why but feel fine now. So back into the garden for me (us lol), I need to dig out a huggeee bears paw plant, we've decided to split it and plant it along the roadside as since the road was raised, we can't get the mower in to mow and keep it tidy. This way the weeds will be kept down. Also need to try and burn the garden waste again. Then some knitting this afternoon I hope.
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone... Bet your blanket is growing Carole

Ohh Kiwimade you be carefull out in the gardens. Maybe the dust etc is making you unwell. Good idea putting the bears paws to use as ground cover tho.

I didn't get my 100 rows done on my blanket yesterday. did a few extra rounds on the crochet one tho. Taking a bit longer to get around now.

Chatting with Carole at the mo. She and MrP lived in the same town when young, know the same people lol

Thinking I might spoil and surprise MrP and take him on the Vintage railway this weekend. Its just opened for the season. Ill see how his mood is tho, he was a grumpy bear yesterday lol

Have a good day Sewing Carole and take care in the garden Kiwimade..

thanks popeye but I feel fine now as you often do after being sick. Just sore ribs though and that's going away. We have a shining cuckoo hanging around the garden... heard this odd call yesterday morning and we just couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. Was out in the paddock and there he was up in the old gum tree. Checked out the call online and yep, he's a shining cuckoo looking for a lady friend lol. Am quite chuffed :). We seem to be attracting different birds this year - had a pair of swallows the other day.
Anyhooo, back outside for me before it rains :)

kiwimade64 - 2013-10-27 09:36:00
2588

Ill have to google. Not heard of a shining cuckoo. We used to have a lot of swallows on the farm. My poor Girlcat hated them. They used to dive bomb her. She hated birds from that stage, so that's was good for Natures side.
Havent had any rain here so just far enough north I think. Although there are a few greyish clouds coming in.
Done a bit of crochet this morning.. was smacking My head thinking why didn't I count how many rows I made the other blanket, dohhh and Ive just thought I can look at the picture lol.. so will do that and then see how big I will go.
I think Ill make it bigger so it will fit on a single bed top.

Hope everyone is being productive

morning :) It's the big craft fair in Cambridge today so will pop along and see what's what then off to see dad and plant his vegie garden (hopefully he is well enough for me to do that). So a family kind of day today. Still have some heavy(ish) digging to do in our garden but that's OK, if I don't get it done this afternoon will get up early tomorrow and do it before the day gets too hot.
Got some knitting done yesterday but fell asleep on the couch! Must be the broken nights sleep the night before lol combined with all the exercise I'm getting working outside. Who needs a gym! lol
Happy knitting and stay safe on the roads if you are outting and abouting :)

Morning all,
How lovely Kiwimade to have a shining cuckoo in your garden, I love hearing bird song but don't get much here.

I know what you mean about the length of the sides carolev that's why mine became a knee rug it seemed to take for ages to do a round but yours will be great.

Not sure what I'll do for the holiday - the washing is in and it looks like a lovely day so should get into the garden but had such a busy day yesterday I might tend towards a good book and the knitting at least for part of the day. Oh the joys of being your own boss and able to pick and choose what to do for a day.
Happy holiday everyone

Morning Everyone.. Noo work today lol its Labour day after all. Looks like it might be a pleasant day. a little wind but nothing too drastic.

Was just in the group on facebook, its soo inspiring to see all the work being done. Makes me want to try more and more things.

There seems to be this huge swing to circular knitting. Heaps of patterns done on them. Ive looked at a tutorial and I managed to get me a couple from the oppy, just have to make time to teach myself.
I want to get these two blankets done first before I try anything new. And Thanks for Carlos and Carole yesterday I now know what thickness two wools I got on special ages ago, are. So Ive found patterns for those.
I want to make the cardi jacket that Kiwimade sent me the pattern of tho. That will be first. I love it. Also have decided to make a granny square blanket making little squares and joining them., Which is something Ive always chosen not to do, cos of the sewing up. But Im used to that now from all the toy making.
Im going to wait for that tho, till I have my wool in the pantries, which will make it easier to co-ordinate the colours.

Have a wonderfull day everyone. Please be safe on the roads...

popeye333 - 2013-10-28 08:34:00
2593

I put my wools in the warehouse draws so I can see the colours without opening them hang washing out now going to take grandkids out

carolev - 2013-10-28 08:41:00
2594

That's a good idea carolev. I have wool in all sorts of places, I have a camphor chest full, a big clear plastic dustbin full, a suitcase full and one of those big warehouse plastic storage bins full, plus bags and boxes so I've promised myself not to buy any more for a while. Then there's all the crochet cottons and I have a huge amount of fabrics waiting for attention.

But today I think I'll take it easy 'cos yesterday I was really busy in the garden and today I'm aching.

popeye if you decide to make a granny square blanket there are easy ways of joining the squares together, best is to crochet them together, and if you do this as you complete the last round, and join the squares into strips, then you only have to join the strips together. I can explain it more fully when you get to that stage, but it's the only way I would do it now that I've tried it.

Looks like being a fabulous day here weatherwise again (where's the rain they keep promising us, we'll be watering the gardens soon) so enjoy your well-earned holiday.

kuaka - 2013-10-28 08:57:00
2595

I had planned on sewing them into rows Kuaka.. Or I may crochet them together with what I call a double crochet. But I will do strips as it will save a lot of time.
I googled some images , silly thing to doo theres sooo many colourways lol.. I was thinking to do the last rows in white and join them with white. but I think Black shows the colours better.
Im going to be putting my wool in the pantries. With dividers and have the wool laying like they do in old woolshops. I currently have a scotche chest packed to the max. And two stands of trays. A clear bin with the baby wool and bags of crepe wool which fills a couple of shelves on a bookcase. will be nice to have it all in one area, hidden away. My Patterns will be in with them.
Was out tying up branches on the black berries before. They are finally greening up. Was getting worried we had pruned them too much.
Right better dish up his asparagus for his lunch

Lucky you - now if I was in your situation I wouldn't feel guilty about buying some more, but as it is, well I can't really justify it, unless I'm desperate for something in particular.
