I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
2501

Sorry I would help, but you're a bit too far away!

Edited to add, put a bell round it's neck. Our cat hasn't caught a bird since we put a collar on her neck with 3 bells on it. When it only had two small bells she still caught birds, so we added a third bell, a larger one, and now she makes quite a tinkling noise and hasn't caught a bird since.

Id help if I was closer Carole. I don't mind doing that sort of job.
Thankfully most of the time Bobcat doesn't kill his catches so I often set them free if uninjured.

Im crocheting a 10 stitch scarf for my santa bear lol... Doing it in white and will put red tassles on it... very chuffed with myself.lol

Morning all.,
Big black clouds looming out there. I have a couple of wool blankets I thought I might wash today. From when I was a kid. But I don't think they would dry. No wind to speak of either. So they can wait for another day.
Going to get into the office again this morning want to clear the stuff in front of the mattress that is going to the school, so it can be got out easy.

Should only be another 2 weeks ish to wait. Then I can put the pantries together and put the table up with my sewing machines etc. Im going to measure this morning too, I think I may be able to fit a third pantry on the one wall, which would give me heaps of storage and will look a lot better.

Looked through my patterns yesterday and couldn't get inspired to do anything. So will carry on with my blanket. I have tho worked out from an old pattern how to decide how many stitches I will need to do my matching pillows. I have two size inserts so can make 5 pillows if I want, 2 large 3 smaller. Ill only do one side knitted tho and back them with calico.

Have a good day everyone

Well we had an interesting start to the day. We'd just finished breakfast (late) when we heard a very loud dull thud, looked out, and this is what we saw:

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/288879817.jpg

There was some mild panic out on the road, as the following traffic ground to a halt, someone stopped the traffic coming downhill, and then the vehicle backed the trailer towards the boat, and with the help of quite a few people, they got the bow of the boat back on the trailer, and then as the vehicle kept slowly backing, half a dozen people lifted the rear end of the boat back onto the trailer. I hope they get the boat checked before they go fishing, as there is quite a lot of markings on the road where it's bum scraped before it settled.

Oh dear Kuaka - did the boat think it was in Whanganui where all the water has been :)

Lovely day here - nice and warm so got the housework done then to supermarket and couple of other errands. Relax this later pm with finishing latest 10 stitch - well nearly finished am doing a crochet border now.

omggg kuaka lol... that's something you don't see everyday lol. Poor buggars! Just finished watching the rugby (no Sky TV) and that was some game! Had friends over for dinner so they stayed and watched too.
Too tired for knitting so will do some tomorrow :)

morning girls what a lovely foggy morning but the sky above it is blue, granddaughter wants to know why the sky's blue when you can't see air.

carolev - did you explain to her about the sky - I know there is an explanation but I can't remember what it is (my school teacher would be very disappointed in me after going to such lengths to explain it all).

Have to do some housework today as I probably have visitors coming Tuesday afternoon (I hate having to do housework) but I don't like others knowing just how untidy my place gets between visits!

Currently working on a singlet and beanie for B4B and then a blanket and I will be able to parcel up my October donation. I think I've done 6 or 7 beanies already for them this month. Also made a couple of tea cosies and then it's back to the tunic, and I hope to complete a crocheted cloth which I started almost two years ago.

Looks like it will be a lovely day although it's a bit nippy - only 13 degrees indoors so have got the heat pump going until it warms up outside.

Have a relaxing Sunday everyone.

Love those type of questions Carol - a niece then aged 4yrs asked me how do they keep the rainbow staying up in the sky - hard to answer that.

looks like being a lovely day here and could get quite warm later.
Finished the square 10 stitch blanket and now onto something a bit smaller again.

morning :) Love kids questions! Thank goodness for google lol.
It's a calm morning here so I'm going to get my spraying done. I sprayed over winter too so it's not so bad but does need doing. Might as well make the most of a windless morning.
I should be able to get some knitting done, daughter phoned to say her wee parcel had arrived and the little pink cardy was just a tad short in the sleeves. Just as well I am knitting the sleeves on the next cardy now so I can add a couple of centimetres without any fuss. I suspect Maddy is going to be tall lol.
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.. no fog here, a gentle breeze and a mix of grey and white clouds.
Ive got the wool blankets in the machine. Shower curtain will be next. they can get so grotty cant they.
Impressive boating skills lol not Must show MrP lol

I want to do a little more catching up on the housework. Skirting boards need a good wipe down so will do a little everyday and be carefull of the back.

But Kirstys Handmade showdown is on shortly, so I will clean MrPs razor out while watching that. His big fingers wont work in cleaning it properly.

Have a wonderfull day everyone

grrrrrr I've run out of wool with one sleeve to go on the wee cardy. I am not buying the Spotlight brand of wool again as it just does not go as far. So much for 100grams to complete the cardy (it did for the previous two I knitted)... I am a whole sleeve short. Guess I will just have to keep going on my throw for now.
Oh well, the spraying is done and MrK has started building the bean fence lol.
Happy knitting :)

Morning Everyone.
Looks a bit grey out there. Lawns are meant to being done this morning. Takes them all of 12 minutes to weed eat mow and blow the lose grass away. Theres two of them and they don't muck around lol.. Plus its what we used to call a pocket handkerchief lawn, when we used to mow lawns for a living lol
Going to have a quiet day today. Managed to get a lot done in the last 3 days but my ribs were complaining badly last night. They have never really settled since my opp, but have had minimal pain recently. Hence I go and do to much and ruin the record lol.
Im over half was on strip 6. I was thinking last night I might lay them on the table and see how its going to look. Ill take photos.
Does anyone have a pattern in double knitting for a ladies shortish button up cardy or jacket. 3/4 length sleeves. in a large size. I soo regret getting rid of all our knitting gear.
Or one done on 6 or 7mm needles. Cos I have some thicker wools but no patterns. And Ive troll through heaps online and never get the right size needles.
Have a good day everyone

morning :) Thanks for the offer carole, it's blues, turquoise and purples, variegated like a paua shell.
Popeye, I have a ladies cardy pattern, it's like a bolero but you knit it longer so it comes down passed your waist, three quarter sleeves, witha wee knitted 'ruffle' along the front bands. Very feminine and can be knitted from size 61cm - 127cm (24 - 46 inches).
I regret getting rid of my patterns and needles too but spotted this pattern and loved it so bought it through Deramores.
Back outside in the garden today, always something to potter around with :)
Happy knitting :)

dammit I hate spring with a vengence! I'm back inside until the antihistimine kicks in. Got two thirds of the lawn mowed and couldn't stop sneezing and my eyes are itchy as heck. When I mowed on Thurs I had the mower set on a higher setting as the grass was so wet so today I thought I'd do a second mow to make it look nice again. MrK is going to finish it for me so there is a plus side :P
Ohh dear... what a shame... guess I'll just have to knit. ;)

Ouchies not good re the hayfever etc... I hope your feeling better... I must say Im not missing the cabbage tree pollen that used to hit me hard.

http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/289093394.jpg

I couldn't wait to finish the blanket. I put the strips together to see what they would look like.
needless to say Im very pleased. Im very happy with the lemon, even tho it was a mistake it looks better than I imagined it would, so Im not sad about it not being cream. The texture in the two directions of the garterstitch is just how I thought it would be.
Being that its double thickness its going to be nice and warm. and 1.5meters square lol
Have 2.5 dark blue and 2 lemon to do... heck if I have that sorted right lol

Popeye, you have mail :) That's a lot of knitting :) and the blanket looks lovely and cosy.
Hayfever seems to have settled a bit, it takes a while for the antihistimines to build up in my body. Got some more plants to plant lol, went to the Warehouse to make a return and came home with more for the garden. I'll take pics soon, am very pleased with it.
Happy knitting :)

Thanks Kiwimade have answered.. Thank you muchly its perfect... Ill get it fitted in before winter lol
Yeah heaps of work but Im determined to get it finished.
We have flowers on the passionfruit Yay, we lost ahuge crop last year to the lawn men cutting the plant with the weed eater.. its well protected now. Green is coming on the blackberries and the citrus looking good. its really weird not planting a vege garden.
Is it normal for our roses to be flowering. We pruned them and they are lush and green with flowers on again soo soon... Love the smell

morning :) Thanks carole, but don't worry, I've solved the problem lol. Our wee local shop had some similar so I just mixed the two balls so the shading wasn't too obvious. Our roses are just starting to flower and the irises are in flower too. I'm determined to have the garden looking 'just so' for Christmas seeing as both sides of the family are coming this year.
Supermarket for me today and some knitting this afternoon. Will try to get the ceiling cleaned in the kitchen then I can put the ladder away lol.
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.

So roses are meant to be flowering now.... I wasn't sure cos they only finished for a month max maybe lol..we used to have oodles of iris's in the first house we lived in here when I was a kid. I still have my stepfathers Huge crystal vase he would put the flowers in, them and Gladdies.

I did about 140 rows yesterday, very pleased and my ribs have thanked me. I should be able to finish the dark blue strip today fingers crossed.

Payday Yay lol... I should go and post a sale but I think Ill leave it till tomorrow. lol

Have a wonderfull day everyone

HI all,
Cooler day here today - it was 28o yesterday which seems a bit early to be getting that hot although I prefer the warmer weather overall.

Have fond memories of irises - when at primary school, many years ago, we had an annual flower show and always seemed to win prizes with irises - somehow a handful of them with a bit of green stuff pushed into a jam jar fell into a lovely flower arrangement. Also it seemed that no other kids took them so we won the 3 "different" flower category as well!.

hope to get a bit of knitting done later today
Happy knitting everyone

Hi Jayemtoo, they are lovely display flowers eh.

morning girls. we have rain, must have needed it the gardens looked dry last night, had a bad night so sat in bed knitting my 10 stitch but running out of wool so added a colour , the next one I will buy lots of wool first, going to get a WOF today , wish the old girl luck that she passes

carolev - 2013-10-23 07:35:00
2533

morning :) Good luck with the WOF - MrK has to fit a new fanbelt before we can take his truck in sometime this week/next week. Sooo frustrating having to 'share' my car!
MrK traded some of his expertise in mechanicing for some garden plants so there are more to be planted today. Spotted a pair of robins in the garden so all the extra plant life is attracting different birds.
I'm knitting the throw for our daughter and almost finished the first of two strips. Just deciding on the length versus time left to complete it.
Happy knitting :)

Morning.. What a warm one it is. We have a sprinkle of light rain. Enough that the Bobcat wont go out in it.. hes such a wuss lol.

I hate warrant time on the car. I always worry, just cant stop myself from wasting my worry over it lol. So good luck to you both.

MrP had a rough night with chest pains, he has been told many times to tell me when it is happeneing. But he doesn't . so hes still in bed and will not be waited on. Sounds mean but theres no use fussing over him now its over... He will just rest so its best I stay out of the way anyway.

Hopefully will get the last of my wool from Deramores today. Its a nice blue violet, and other colours verigated one.

Carole have you kept note of how much wool you have used so far? My blanket will take 20 plus balls. Each strip is taking 2 and sometimes a wee bit from a third ball. Will be close to $100 to complete it I think including cushions. But Im worth it lol.
I will get the strip Im working on finished today and start another.

Have a good day all

How did the WOF go Carole? Better get my a-into-g and stop dithering around lol, just had a call from a school to teach tomorrow :). So I'm back outside planting :), knitting can wait for a bit.

Awesome re the teaching Kiwimade... Raining here on and off so not the best time to be outside.
Ive been knitting and thinking. I might start a crochet blanket later in the day. using the rainbow verigated and some plain matching colours. Just to have some variation for my eyes lol.

MrP is up, a bit washed out and suitably told off again for not waking me up. He might learn by the time he hits 100 lol

I finished the blue strip yesterday and have started another lemon one. Also started a crochet blanket, Ill take a photo to show you the colours later its bright to say the least lol.
Have decided to knit in mornings when I have time, crochet from lunch till tea and knit after tea. that way both things get attention and I wont get bored or anything.
Hope you get your warrant today Carole,,, don't forget.

carolev - did you see the picture in yesterday's Herald of the smog in China. In some places it's so bad visibility is only 10metres, and it's so dark it looks like night-time all day.

Fabulous morning here. No plans on what to do today, but after a walk I might try to do some more to the last curtain - it's cut out and the seams sewn, so have to attach the stiffening and then mark and sew the pleats, and do the hem. We went to the builders merchants yesterday for a few things and I bought a can of silicon spray. I plan to take the curtain tracks down, wash them thoroughly (scrub them to remove all the fluff and muck that gets in amongst the slides) and then when they've dried, give them a spray with silicon so that the slides move more freely. It's a bit of a pain but it's worth it. (anyone would think I have nothing better to do and am just looking for work). I also bought a window brush which extends to 3.6 metres but even with that I can only reach the bottom of the window so I will need to stand on a step ladder to be able to clean the windows. Grrrr. That means I'll have to get Mr K to hold the ladder. Oh well, at least I'll be able to clean 20 years of dirt off the windows. It's only the ones at the side of our bedroom and along the back of the house that look like they've never been cleaned, the rest are okay.

Have a great day everyone.

Kuaka that sounds like a mission re the cleaning of that side of the house. We will have to get someone in to do out eaves and the spouting. Theres moss up there. I know cos the birds seems to think its fun to pull it out of the spouting and drop it on the car... Do they do it any further along the path.. Noooo lol

Im going to sit and knit and watch the auction Ive bid on.. Hope I get it. I collect old Annuals and kids books. Just where they will go will be a problem lol.. but Im sure Ill be able to squish them in somehow.

afternoon ladies :) had an awesome day at school today, the kids are great!
I finished the first strip of two for the throw last night so might make a start on the second and final part. Because I worked today MrK is cooking tea - he found a recipe online for Tuscan Chicken and it looks and smells as good as it sounds! he forgot to hang out the washing lol but oh well... that's not a biggie seeing as the weather is improving.
Got 10cents a litre off petrol today at Gull, I think the promotion will be on tomorrow too for the long weekend and shouted myself a new pair of sunglasses. I broke my cheapie pair and need them for driving. I end up squinting and get headaches.
That's a good buy popeye for the wool and the books. I have two sets of old Disney books (the same sets lol) and I must put one on TM to sell.
Happy knitting :)

never mind about the washing kiwimade, I recall one time coming home from work and Mr K No. 1 version had put the washing on the line for me. Would have been helpful if he'd put the soap powder in the machine and pressed the "wash" button and let it do it's thing first. He commented that he thought it felt quite dry (that's probably because it was still dry - and still dirty!!!)

morning girls. I dislike the way my man hangs out washing, always hangs the undies by the crutch and shirts by the clollers . when I was young and went on holiday to cousin Fays I got shown how to hang out clothes undies on the inside and nappies on the outer lines, keep all the items the same together still do that 55 years later, well sewing for me today when I wake up
