Welcome to the Coin Club. We are an assortment of newbies, amateurs and experts with questions and answers for newbies, amateurs and experts in coin collecting, also known as numismatics. Whether you are just getting started, have been collecting for years or have simply found some old coins about the place that you’d like to sell, this is the place to ask your questions.

No one has all the answers, and you may get five differing answers to the
same question, yet each may be right in a manner of speaking, especially if opinions are involved. Opinions often vary. If you receive no answer to your query within 48 hours, please ask again.

It'll be the 1996 $5 coin/$20 note pack. I had set no. 1824 which sold earlier this year.

Yes I do,I think the trend is back upwards (and sure to be a few takedowns along the way).I think we could still see and break through the $25 mark before Feb.If it can hold that then the $29 to $30 will be reached in pronto quick time.

Just winding down and decided to leave the auto bids out .Missed the two 1980 Olympics sets, and picked up only 4 auctions tonight. Not a good strike rate lol, may revert back to the auto bidding. Not a lot under scrap price around in both gold and silver (actual money paid from a refiner here or overseas as opposed to a theoretical value, based purely on spot prices.
Another bus will be along in 15 minutes so not all doom and gloom

Looks it to me too. I'd expect sharper edges and a much whiter finish if it were the silver proof. Could be a problem with the photo, you never know ...

Can anybody tell me if blue $NZ10 notes commerating the new millinnium are worth more than the $NZ10 stated on them? Found 2 in a book at an op shop along with some other notes.

Oh - they both have a fold in them and one is BA00048106 and the other AF000467777 if that is of any importance.

Thanks.

Newbie questions. 1. How do I post a photo here? 2 having trouble getting photo in focus, tips appreciated.
3. I have a NZ "hobo penny" 1944, I suspect it was etched by a US soldier over here at end of WWII. A coin dealer friend in the US found it and sent it over to me. George VI's head has been transformed into what looks like a Foreign Legionarre's, or possibly de Gaule's head with hat, he's been given a beard and redesigned neckline, and the rest of the head side has been scraped flat. The Obverse hasn't been altered. Are there any collectors of hobo nickels /pennies who could value it? Just can't get a decent pic of it.

Under "My Trade Me" look for "View My Trade Me". Click on "My Photos". Click on "Upload Photos". Once uploaded, choose to view your photos. Get the full screen image up on your computer. Cut and paste the address into a post in here.

graemer1 wrote:

Look for a flower icon on your camera. This is for taking close-ups from 300-700 mm away. Shoot under indirect sunlight. There's another setting called Digital Macro. There's no guarantee that every camera has all of these settings, although they are becoming more standard. If the camera is less than five years old, you can also choose the Auto setting, which on newer cameras can do remarkably well at getting the right settings without a lot of work. This is especially true if the camera cost at least $150.

Sorry, not really sure what to tell you. A pic would definitely help.

Try it and see. There are a few starting at $15.

I thought someone might have liked a "birth year" note so I tried listing a run of $20 AD000019xx crisp fresh from atm basically cost+tm fees+$10 heaps of watchers, no bids, no questions. I used them to pay my rates!

That's a pity - they would have been quite fun. Didn't see them otherwise I would have been keen.

The ink of the serial numbers is black.

May just pop them in the box of odds and ends I will put on TM next year when we do the clear out of spring/summer and get set for autumn/winter.

Thanks

Strong overall, I would say - $8,500 for the pattern penny against an estimate of 3k!

I use a light box. Just one I got off TM. Works very well for cutting down reflections.

Don't know what's best for extra light. I have a flash already and use a flash cable and tripod to light through the fabric.
