I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
2451

morning all nice fine day here, got the washing on all bar Mr T jumper that he won't take off said it will do 1 more days work as he has Friday off to take all the grandkids to the zoo. I have 5 balls of wool for my blanket and they are going down fast and it not that big yet.

We've just had a very heavy shower, so I got up early to rescue the Herald before it got a drenching, only to discover that the rain had stopped just before the Herald flew into the driveway so it's not soggy at all. Never mind. I'm having a cup of tea and will stitch the tops of the pleats for my curtain and then iron it, and iron the lining, and hang them, if I get cracking I might even have it hung before his nibbs gets up.

Yesterday I knitted a beanie for Beanies for Babies, I shall re-assess at the end of the year whether I will continue to knit for them. I committed at the start of this year to making a blanket and five beanies a month (this was a commitment to myself) and I've managed it fairly easily but maybe next year I will concentrate on other things which I've wanted to do for a while, like use up some of my vast stash, especially the older bits of it and it's mostly stuff that isn't suitable for babies. We'll see.

Might go to Kerikeri today to get my drivers licence application in, have to see how Mr K is feeling when he surfaces. Sure is a pain not having a licence. I said to him yesterday that if he was taken ill and hospitalised I wouldn't be able to go and visit him.

Right, well I'd better get the tops of the pleats stitched otherwise they'll never get done.

Happy knitting everyone.

morning :) I've been up since a sparrows fart as MrK is helping a friend by driving a roller for a day. It's cruisy work and he's out and about for a bit too.
Washing is on, dishes done, beds made. Need to go into town to pay a couple of bills I can't pay online then I might begin the spring clean while MrK is away. Looks like the whole family including MrK's is coming to us for Christmas so I want the house and garden to look great.
Might get some more knitting done this afternoon - I've nearly finished the first strip of daughter's throw (her Christmas pressie). Should look good, all cables using four ply knitted on 4mm needles to soften the effect and in two tones.
Happy knitting :)

HI All..
Well all done at dusted with the clinic today. Got there almost an hour early as it didn't take as long to get there.
Were out and back in the car in time for his appointment time lol. MrP has to have an echo scan of his heart valve cos it has some narrowing. Which he is having next week. Then its just a matter of waiting for the surgery.

Went to spotlight.. oops lol Got some bright verigated wool, its red blue yellow and green. Ill do plain rounds inbetween of those colours. Got a grey for a Koala. which I probably had but made sure I did lol.. And some "fairisle" wool, verigated to me . to knit a plain cardy of jumper for baby next door for next winter. Cant wait to see how it turns out.
Will put an order with Deramores in on the weekend.. oooh fun lol

Have a good day everyone... I might nip out and get the groceries soon. To save having to do it before going to the drs tomorrow.
Back is coping well today. no stick or walker Yaya

phew, am back from being in town.. omgg, didn't expect to be this long lol. Walked in the door to phone ringing and daughter tells me she has found her camera. Phew... was begining to think I had put it down beside the car and not picked it up when putting Maddie into the car.
I bought some wool too popeye lol. Pretty salmon coloured 4 ply to knit more booties as Maddie can't have too many pairs apparantly. I suspect this girl will be a shoe-a-holic lol. Guess the throw I am knitting as a Christmas pressie is once more on hold.
Am glad you are able to get out and about easier now popeye.
Happy knitting :)

2456

Lol re shoe-a-holic hehehehe

Soo pleased the camera has been found.. How are they getting on without having Nanas help?

Ive started the Koala so the blanket is back to tv knitting at night.

Its made a difference not having to have bits and pieces to keep me on my feet lol

popeye333 - 2013-10-10 15:59:00
2457

they are managing fine but realllllllllly tired. Maddy has decided night time is a goooood time to be awake lol.
I found a crochet hook in amongst other things so I can crochet the edges of daughter's throw (getting a bit ahead of myself lol) and put tassells on when finished.
In the meantime, I'll keep knitting a couple of pairs of bootties and that wee cardy that buttons down the side. Daughter swears by that cardy and wants another one. I can see that will be one pattern knitted over and over and over.
I'll take a pic of the throw I'm knitting tomorrow and post it. Still have a wee ways to go but am happy with it.
Happy knitting :)

I've had a productive day - now have a "temporary" licence while waiting for my proper one to arrive in the mail. Went grocery shopping and then came home and ironed and hung the curtain for the bi-fold door in the family room, now only have the even bigger one for the ranch slider to do and that's the whole of the open plan family/dining/kitchen office (haven't made curtains for the kitchen windows, but might make a blind for one of the kitchen windows and the window above the desk in the office). So, four down (or up if you like) one to go. Then I can decide whether to do new ones for our bedroom or new ones for the lounge next - and then the two spare bedrooms need curtains.

I also managed to start another beanie, but I mustn't lose track of the second tunic. So much to do.

So pleased your daughter found the camera kiwimade. What a relief.

Night all.

kuaka - 2013-10-10 21:57:00
2459

morning ladies :) Yep, it was a relief kuaka. The camera was hanging on the back of the bedroom door all this time lol. Guess they were too tired and/or busy to spot it. But they have posted some gorgeous pics of Maddy on FB :) which I have copied (as a good nana does lol).
Another pair of booties knitted last night and I'll knit another pair today sometime after I have done the housework.
OMG it has just started to bucket down and MrK is supposed to be helping a friend outside today. Hopefully his friend will cancel.
Happy knitting :)

wet morning all and chilly too. I have cancelled the zoo trip today to wet to drag 3 wee ones around it. so will stay home and sew and knit, sat up in bed last night at 1am and did some more of my 10 stitch blanket, hate it when you can't sleep.

Morning everyone.
Wet and warm here. I have my little fan on.
So pleased the camera is found, will have a nosey at pics later.

I did the back and started the body of the koala last night. Then did my blanket while I watched coro. Need to look up and see just how psycho that cop girlfriend of Tyrones is. shes a nutter control freak.
Going to try and get some sort of order for the last stuff on the wall unit etc in office. so when they come to get the bits it wont be a huge job.

Have to go to drs today to start my review of medication. My plan is to come off metformin for diabetes, cos it kills your kidneys.

Have a good day everyone

OMG did we have a storm or what! I don't remember having wind like that before! But we are still here lol and the garden I think is in one piece still.
Happy knitting :)

Morning Ladies... wild and wooly here overnight too. We decided yesterday we will bring the BBQ and table and chairs inside. The BBQ is light and blows over too easy.

KNIT1 I don't have a pattern for a cow but if I find any Ill let you know.

Im Lucky in one way Carole Metformin didn't bother me when I started taking it. Only when my sugars went bad with all the stress of mum, we increased it and I got the metformin bummy tummy. But its nasty on the kidneys so I want to get off them. MrP is stage four of kidney failure, next step is dialisys. So we have worked on his too. hes on insulin as well now. And his kidneys have stablelised.
He doesn't know yet, cos hes still in bed but from now on we are back to making a better effort. We slipped a bit over winter.

Today I want to do my best in the bathroom and toilet, that's a lot of leaning over and Ive been putting it off lol Washing is on, it will go in the dryer. Cat litter box is done .
Back to the panda later.

I ordered more wool from Deramores yesterday. Needed extra for my blanket, got some to match for my 10 stitch. some for a table runner. And a neat maroon/dark pink marble effect on to make my bag. Plus some Denim Nepp wool which is like the brown I used for MrPs jacket. That's for me tho. Along with some of the $2 balls... Ooops lol
Cant wait for delivery yayay

Have a good day everyone and stay out of the wind

morning all,
That Dora Jersey is fantastic knit1.
Had a real lazy wet day yesterday and finished my 10st blanket and started another one but not really like the wool so it's off to skeinz to get something to go with it - so much for not buying any more until I have used what I already have.
Our usually quiet little street has been extra busy this am as the houses either side of me are having garage sales been interesting seeing who comes out early to get the bargains.
Did a big wash early and then down came the rain so it is in the garage for the time being at least the newly planted tomatoes are happy.

Have a good day all

jayemtoo - 2013-10-12 09:23:00

popeye this olive leave stuff I am taking has lowered my blood sugars so much I need very little insulin .

I would have to be carefull Carole, Im on warfarin and I imagine that olives would be high in iron.
My sugars are really good. Just getting MrP to eat better and move a little more and his would come down too.

It has been a great day for knitting :), the weather has been yucky so no guilt about sitting down lol. Today I knitted a 'nipple' beanie for Maddy and am three quarters of the way through one of those Puerperium cardys. I'll finish it tomorrow so I can post it all off to our daughter. Over the past few days I've knitted three pairs of booties to add to the 'stash'.
Will take pics when the cardy is finished :).
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone.
Yes Nannymaid I had a google on Coro. Kirsty is a complete Nutter.

You have been working well Kiwimade, saw the pics on FB. Love the blanket. I love cables.
I did the head and legs of the koala yesterday.
met a trader a couple of weeks ago who came for another pick up yesterday. Shes a wool hoarder like us lol.. Had 4 pantries and numerous boxes etc of her wool and some that was her mothers. I have given her Deramores website and told her I take no responsability in the overspending she may do lol.
Im thinking of nipping over to Pukekohe, haven't suggested it to MrP yet. Farmers has been open about ohh 6 monthsish I think and we haven't been in. But Anne from yesterday said they have their Christmas decorations out so we might go for a nosey.
And Ive been craving fish (must be lacking something) and the bakery there cooks their lovely. Got MrP a fishermans basket last night. he has the seafood side and Bobcat and I share the fish. but we both reckon it was off. He had one bit and wouldn't eat the rest. I should have known not to take a mouthful, but I did and it was terrible. should have been hoki but it definatly wasn't.
So have a productive day everyone. stay cosy indoors. Happy knitting

Popeyes, what yarn do you buy from Deremores and is it that much cheaper.i knit babies and children's wear for plunket.i also crochet blankets. I really do not need yarn at the moment but was wondering?

Im no artist but I saw girls wearing hats like this last night. They were crochet. started at the top I think. than the tail was started at the base of the hat. The spines crochet and sewn on. They were long, just past the girls shoulderblades. They looked awesome. Kids would love them.

Jord I like James C Brett the best from Deramores. They have baby and nrmal yarns.. I use acrylic mainly but Im sure the others will help with other wools. Till Tuesday I think or Wednesday our time, Deramores has upt to 20% off all double knitting. I ordered 100grm balls of acrylic for $2-37 a ball. james C Bretts acrylic is sooo soft and they have lovely baby colours too.
If you change the currency in the top lefthand corner you can see the NZD prices. free postage if you spend over $100 and its usually here in a week or there abouts.
I cant wait for this order to arrive I got a lot of different wools I don't normally buy. Cos I feel the need to do lots of different projects now lol

Morning all. I trust you all had a good weekend.. talk about wild weather. A lot calmer here this morning. No wind yay. Its soo tiring even if your not in it.
Finished knitting the Koala last night. I didn't like or understand how to do the hair for the ears so since its for MrP I missed them out and will put them on when I make it up this morning.

Now what to knit Next lol

I may chicken out of the 10 stitch blanket.. but might use the colours I got for it, in a crochet blanket. Will look just as wild I reckon.
And crochet grows heaps faster lol... Not far from the end of the 5th strip of my blanket.

Have a wonderful day everyone

morning ladies, we are both a bit stiff and sore this morning - no it's not what you're thinking! I had planned to mow the little upper lawn yesterday but his nibbs had other plans, so I was assigned the job of lugging bucket loads of compost up to the veg garden and he worked it in along with general fertiliser, blood and bone, and sheep pellets, and then watered it all, so that we can start planting some veg. Then I did quite a bit of weeding. I had also planned to cut the curtain out for the big ranch slider and washed the dining room floor so that I could, but I was told instead that I'd done enough and to sit down and have a glass of wine and seeing as I "always" do as I'm told (well if it suits me) I sat out on the deck in the sun and relaxed. Might do the curtain and lawn today. No doubt I will do some knitting, I'm a bit like you popeye I don't really know what to do next. I should continue with the tunic and I should sew up the top I made 18 months ago, but I like to have some "no-think" stuff to pick up too.

Whatever you do today ladies, have a lovely day.

Morning everyone.
Dull and gently wet out there this morning. Warm tho.

No news on whether my twin had his surgery yesterday. But Im thinking he must have or he would have let me know if it was cancelled. I woke just after 3am this morning feeling like he was thinking of me. Im sure Ill hear from my niece.

MrPs Koala is finished.. Its meant to have hair coming out his ears but I couldn't figure out how to do it lol.
http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/288289292.jpg

Im going to carry on with my blanket now. Just about finished the 5th strip. when my Deramores order arrives Ill start a crochet blanket too.

Morning everyone... Nooo didn't wet the bed lol.

Off to the superclinic this morning for MrPs echo.
I heard from the hospitals I emailed the other day, and have found out which one my twin is in. So I will ring later when home.

For the first time I am feeling his pain. My heart and scar are heavy and aching. He will be feeling ok today, tomorrow will be his bad day... its weird how the body works but the nurses told me its usually the same for everyone.
I finished the strip I was doing and have started another one to take with me this morning. not sure if I will be allowed in with MrP or not.
Have a good day everyone.

morning :) Yep popeye, MrK's worst days were Day 2 for both heart ops so I guess your brother will be uncomfortable for a bit.
Teaching again today - that's three days in a row and maybe, just maybe, Friday. Extra money doesn't go astray and I love being in the classroom so a win-win.
No knitting for me today then and I need to plant a huge big rubbish bag full of plants which was given to me the other day tomorrow so no knitting tomorrow either lol. Still, the garden will look awesome and I'm slowly filling in the gaps where I have pulled out overgrown shrubbery.
Happy knitting ladies :)

Cold here this morning but the sun is shining so I think it will warm up. Probably going to knitting group this morning if I can get myself moving early enough, and then when I get home I have to deal with a big branch that dropped off a tree out the front. It's a nuisance sort of tree, just a big tall trunk with some leaves right at the top and the whole thing is covered in a creeper, and the bit that crashed down just missed two orange trees but has damaged the magnolia.

Going to take some "no think" knitting with me as I feel a bit weary and not very bright this morning, so will be something plain.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone. Fine here too. Yay popping out for groceries etc so at least I wont get wet.
Big day yesterday. Looks like MrP will have to have his aortic vavle replaced before the hernia can be done.
Got home and half my Deramores order was sitting on the doorstep, 5 steps from the footpath. The second bag not there. yet the one I have has 1 of 2 written on it.. courier cant track it unless I have a number. Deramores use royal mail, no number so the courier here will get another blast from me today.
They should have left a card and taken it to post shops for a start.
Enjoy the garden Kiwimade..

Have a good day all.

that's a bit of a worry re your Deramore's order popeye, but maybe it's still on it's way, just because they were sent together doesn't necessarily mean they will arrive together. Lovely sunny morning here, but a bit nippy so we have the heat pump on, but I'm sure it won't be on for too long.

Bit weary and achy yesterday after dealing with the branch, which provided me with a wool bale bag almost full of kindling for next winter and a few small logs, so it wasn't all in vain. Now if the huge (and I mean HUGE) totara would keel over at the front of the house we would have enough firewood to last a couple of years, not to mention letting more sun into the house.

Not sure what we will do today, but it's bound to include some knitting, and possibly I might do the pleating prep on my last big curtain. Certainly wouldn't get it finished today, but I might do some of it.

Happy knitting everyone.

Good Morning,
Looks like being a lovely day here in mid 20s - have to go out later but hope to get into garden later I'm transferring strawberries to area which gets more sun. Also just about can't see out the windows they are so dusty after all the wind so probably need to attack them before too many more days go by!

keeping on knitting in between times nearly finished a 10stitch I'm making as a Christmas present and have a small vest on the needles for when I go out and need to fill in a bit of time.

Morning everyone... Looks like it might be a nice day.
Washing is on, and sheets to do after that.

The second bag from Deramores arrived yesterday. It had been left in the van by mistake. Have another on the way. It was a back order

I got a lovely bright red crepe from the oppy yesterday. I should have brought the second bag so will go get it this morning. I might manage to have enough to knit something for me.
I managed to have a hold up in the chemist, and trail coffee around the supermarket from a slit in the packet. Told the teller I was going home to stay out of everyones way lol

But the Best parts.. I spoke to my twin, he was ok having the downer day like I told him he would. But hes already considering becoming an orderly, hes never aimed for any job he just always seemed to fall into them.

Second best part the council Finally came and cut down their cabbage tree.. 9 years of complaints and it ended up dying anyway. Cos some fool 30 years ago left the thick black poly bag on the tree. It choked it to death in the end.
Bobcat went out this morning and was sitting on the edge of our garden just looking.. Didn't know what to make of it lol

Have a good day everyone.
