| Our firm favourite Toadies Fejoa Loaf Bring to the boil & then simmer for 5mins the followingr... 1 cup chopped Fejoas. (I scoop out the flesh and press into a measuring cup and then when full chop up), Let cool then add: 2 cups flour, Mix well. This makes 1 loaf. Bake at 170 degrees for 50 mins or until skewer comes out clean. I always make 2 loaves at a time, it freezes well and for lunches you can cut a slice off a frozen loaf and by morning tea its defrosted fresh and yummy. toadfish - 2009-03-23 18:21:00 |
| I Have all the Fejoas in a bowl on the bench and when they get to soft to eat I scoop them out chop them up and freeze them in 1 cup lots, flat in snaplock bags... then whe I want to make a loaf I kust pop the fejoas in the saucepan and bring to the boil as per recipe... so quick, easy and delicious to make. toadfish - 2009-03-23 18:23:00 |
| Their starting to fall. Can't wait to make fruit crumbles. We have about 30 fall off our tree every day lovemydog - 2009-03-23 18:32:00 |
| if you're using feijoas in cooking (such as muffins etc), do you need to wait until the fruit falls to the ground to use them? so that they're sweet enough? poohbearfan3 - 2009-03-24 14:05:00 |

| From Laurel Watson on Good Morning - Put feijoas, dates, boiling water, sugar and butter in a saucepan. maitredee - 2009-04-06 06:46:00 |
| homemade Feijoa Wine, you need: 5kg of feijoas (scoop out the flesh, freeze, thaw then squash it), 6 litres of boiling water and 2 camden tablets (from home brewing stores). Place in a big bucket with a lid and stir twice a day for three days. Then strain into another bucket (cover it with cheesecloth to keep the bugs out) or a large fermenting bin (fitted with an airlock if possible) and add one sachet of wine yeast and 2 teaspoons of yeast nutrients (both from home brewing stores), plus 4kg of sugar and another 2 litres of water. Leave until it stops bubbling... which could be a month, or several. Then bottle. purplegoanna - 2009-04-06 09:53:00 |
