| Penny Universal Coil strips Talking about coil strips, if anyone has a "dickie" coil strip of three or four of the Penny Universals then I am certainly looking. I have a few singles which I am certain they are ok but a strip erases all doubts :) rolyrj - 2008-01-03 23:47:00 |
| I am not sure if he has exactly what you are looking for, but Chas Lilley(Tanchas) certainly has quite a few coil strips, well worth asking on his auctions (or Donaldo might find his) metcalfj - 2008-01-04 00:11:00 |
| 202 Thank you. I will give him a ring tomorrow.I should also mention that vending machine starters [these don't have the words 'counter coil' on them are also hard to find [issues up to 1960 pictorials]. But i guess there may only be a handful of collectors interested!? warm3 - 2008-01-04 00:59:00 |
| 50c hells pizza Hi stak, thanks for the image of the 45c hells. What I am after is a image of the 50c hells if it exists. Can any body out here in stamp land confirm that this value exists ????? Thanks in advance. teddybearlover - 2008-01-04 07:39:00 |
| Thanks donaldo You have just alerted me (in a separate thread) to the fact that the Campbell Paterson catalogue has a "W" section for booklets. As you say we should try and keep all this stamp info to this one thread if we can...cheers from 'one who is off to read up on the 'w' section . willy_hunt - 2008-01-05 20:08:00 |
| For Tony (Warm3) Are you interested in the coil leaders of the 1938 KGVI? I have quite a number and am thinking of listing them soon. Cheers. Graham reesraaff - 2008-01-05 20:21:00 |

| I am not sure if Self Adhesives have any less value (used) than any other modern stamp. The problem is that stamps are produced in such vast numbers, and every collector has ample access to both used and UHM stamps directly from NZ Post. Therefore, it is unlikely that many will become scarce, unless everyone thinks like me and dumps their collections ;-) metcalfj - 2008-01-07 11:51:00 |
| well I am going to be a new addition to your club. I used to collect stamps as a sort of forced hobby 20 + yrs ago (ie friends family etc kept giving me stamps)and I have uncovered the collection recently, and wat to get into organizing them and collecting new stamps farmerjones - 2008-01-08 16:02:00 |

| Hi farmerjones Yes a great idea of fredrikas to start up this stamp place. Would love to hear what countries your stamps are from .i.e Mostly NZ,Aussie or perhaps World. *waves* to donaldo. Any news of the CAL (customized advertising labels)2008 pack release date ? willy_hunt - 2008-01-08 17:58:00 |
| the stamps are a good mixture of UK, NZ, Aus, USA, Canada. Most have been used as were collected by family and friends from the 60' onwards. Have got back into collecting them recently, but really only ones people give me that have come off parcels and letters farmerjones - 2008-01-08 18:40:00 |

| 2007 CAL's - I was told today the packs will be $35.10 each, but no release date as yet. So we wait - still. Nothing on the NZPost website that I can see yet Don. A quick count tonight and I figure there will be approx 66 diff CALs for 2007. I have 39, and know of another 11: that makes 50 known CAL's giving a total face value of $27.10. That leaves $8. Perhaps another 16 CAL's? However, I know of 5 reprints. Will they be included in that possible 16?. Time will tell. :) jaybee2003 - 2008-01-08 23:21:00 |
| Also - I only noticed this tonight, perhaps I am the last to find out (lol) - Did you all know it seems there are two different issues of the Caffe Laffare CAL?. Here is a photo of the two together. They are quite different. jaybee2003 - 2008-01-08 23:24:00 |
| hmmmmmm... adds the link this time!!! http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/91/57668791_full.jpg jaybee2003 - 2008-01-08 23:26:00 |
| farmerjones - if you haven't already got one, search for 'stamp catalogue' on TM, something that might be of use to you with your revived hobby. :) jaybee2003 - 2008-01-08 23:32:00 |
| 219 Nice work Jaybee. So who has stocks on hand of the second print for sale. In the 'must have' blocks of 4! warm3 - 2008-01-08 23:45:00 |
| 219 Hi warm, The first issue of Caffe L'Affare CAL's containing the words " The coffee Business....est 1990" was issued on 18/7/2007. The second issue without the words has a First Day Cover dated 8/10/2007. Both are equally available Mint in blocks. willy_hunt - 2008-01-09 12:21:00 |
| #217 above: 2007 CALS pack correction: The $35.10 I spoke of is the expected FACE VALUE of the CAL's in the pack. Cheers. :) jaybee2003 - 2008-01-09 13:52:00 |
| 222 Thanks Willy. warm3 - 2008-01-09 14:28:00 |
| 2007 CAL Pack was released today in Christchurch 65 stamps for $35.10 as expected. Evidently however NZ Post have a big logistic problem in that they (Wanganui) have only got back to work on Monday and still need to make up the packs. Last year they messed up badly with the first lot having 80% with wrong mixtures. Todays lot appeared in Christchurch in the afternoon and promptly sold out as they only had a token quantity available. Only 2 or 3 collectors managed to buy any before they sold out and new stocks aren't expected before March! I have listed a cover with one of each on trademe tonight so if you want to see the designs take a look at Auction Number: 135538749. kiwisteven - 2008-01-09 23:11:00 |
| #225 - what are the two CAL's to the right of the Toyota one? I think it is a bit off that NZ Post is unable to release all on the one day, especially when there are many collectors who have already placed orders months ago with Wanganui for their sets, and when contacted yesterday, claimed they didn't have a release date as yet for the sets. Howver, it is nice to see them all for the first time as you say :) jaybee2003 - 2008-01-09 23:26:00 |
| also.. what is the AR cal? Far right, 4th line down. Maybe with a March release date, now we have a full pictorial "list" it gives us more time to track them down. We *know* what it is we are looking for! jaybee2003 - 2008-01-09 23:31:00 |
| The two CALs to the right of Toyota These are both from Karamea Hardware in nelson district. They differ in that Karamea is written in red on the first and in black on the second. The AR one has no other indication of what it is. It has a very small artists signature on it which looks like Amen Salaam 2007. kiwisteven - 2008-01-10 00:20:00 |
| #225/226 I have just worked out those two next to Toyota - Karamea Hardware Store! But the AR is still a puzzle. jaybee2003 - 2008-01-10 00:23:00 |
| Release of 2007 CALS. I visited the real Aotearoa branch in Christchurch twice in the morning and once at lunch-time and the staff had no idea when they would be receiving supplies. At 2.30pm I was lucky! and got just a few sets out of just 10 sets they received. I also have had a pre-booked order in for a long time. NZ Post don't appreciate that collectors do want first day of release and consider it of some significance. I put all the sets I got onto covers and had them postmarked on first day of release. It took a long time to stick all 65 carefully onto a envelope and luckily I had some help to get this done before Real Aotearoa closed for the day as I obviously needed to get them back for postmarking. kiwisteven - 2008-01-10 00:29:00 |
| Self-adhesive verses lick and stick All the CALs in the top row on my cover are lick and stick while all those below are self-adhesive. kiwisteven - 2008-01-10 00:32:00 |
| Thanks for that Steven. I bet you were glad they all weren't lick'n'stick! there is another I can't work out - bottom row, 2nd one in - something 120 years? My favourite one is the pig. :) jaybee2003 - 2008-01-10 00:38:00 |
| Rutherfords That one is inscribed "Rutherfords -120 years 1887-2007" Must be some company. kiwisteven - 2008-01-10 01:26:00 |
| 233 Steve - can you email to me a high definition scan so I can also put some effort in helping to find these companies. Its holiday time here. Ta warm3 - 2008-01-10 01:39:00 |
| Ahhhh! Rutherford. OK. I've just emailed who I think that might be! I might be wrong, but I suspect it is an almost local firm to me!. Will let you know if/when they reply. (I'll shut up for now though in public in case I am way off beam..lol) warm3 - I think I have them all sussed bar 4/5 or so. How to get in touch? - I'll fire an email to Steve and perhaps he might forward it to you?. :) jaybee2003 - 2008-01-10 02:13:00 |
| Self Adhesive Stamps Hi everyone, My interests are NZ, Tokelau and Pitcairn. Because NZ was producing so many issues, I dropped them and took up Tokelau, as they only produced a few sets a year. I recently took up Pitcairn for the same reason as well as the fact that both Islands are in NZ currency. All stamps in my collection are Gummed Mint. Now back to Self Adhesive, sorry, but they have no place in my collection, because to me its only a sticky label, not a gummed stamps that been removed from a sheet of stamps. zeph - 2008-01-10 07:44:00 |
| Favourite stamps well, they would have to be 1936 camber of commerce, the 5/-, 10/- and £1 1960 pictorials, 1962 8d teleprinter, 1965 5d ANZAC (the colour), 1968 10c human rights and the 1990 Orchids stamps/minisheet (my interst in orchids). zeph - 2008-01-10 07:55:00 |
| 2007 CAL Pack I'll do a high resolution scans of the various CALs and put them on my own site tonight. details later. kiwisteven - 2008-01-10 08:34:00 |
| new CALs I think we are being sold a pup. Many of these CALs we have seen issued during the year but the 'baylewys' one is the sample on the website and the Toyata one was not even used by Toyota but the PO sought their permission to use it as a sample. How many more are just samples????? Tony warm3 - 2008-01-10 15:40:00 |
| 237 Fav stamps Hi Zeph. Yes I like the higher value 1960 pictorials. In fact the 1960 pictorials would have to be the top set for 'new' collectors to be introduced to specialisation. There are only 1 impossible and 2 hard plate blocks. Masses of colours and shades. Chambons and their combinations. Such a variety of minor and major errors, missing colours, and doctor blades. ... and they can still be found. The thrill of the search, etc. I digressed. The overall favourite, for me, would have to be mint blocks[4] of the KG5 recess stamps. But these are not easy or cheap to collect. Tony warm3 - 2008-01-10 15:48:00 |
| #236 Hi Tony. I am intrigued with your comments about some of the issued pack CAl's being samples. I have tried and tried to track that Toyota one for months, yet no-one has known anything aobut it at all. The Bayleys one is genuine, I have it postally used direct from Judy at Bayleys herself, along with her business card. I also have the WOW one (from the website 'samples' lot), received postally direct from WOW during the year, so that is genuine also. jaybee2003 - 2008-01-10 17:02:00 |
| CAL's 2007 cont... Has anyone seen postally used (or previously heard of) the blue/yellow map like Otto (?) one, the RA one, Smalli & Smalli, Your Message Here and the Send and Receive? Surely NZ Post wouldn't issue "samples" would they?? Would they??! Has anyone seen the Toyota one postally used in 2007? Curiouser and curiouser.... jaybee2003 - 2008-01-10 17:09:00 |
| CALs & CALs After many phonecalls today I finally arrived at Toyota HQ [Palmerston North]. They rang me back in Oz with the news that the PO had asked them if they could use their car on a CAL as an example. Toyota did not order them. They were given some sample ones which have apparently gone in their archive! Toyota has not used these stamps. I may be wrong with the Bayley stamp. What is the story behind them? How can I get one? warm'at'bigpond'do- warm3 - 2008-01-10 18:00:00 |
| CALs & CALs It's really hard finding these if your outside NZ. Not recognising common brandnames and where you get them. But this just adds to the chase. I am growing to like the concept of a yearly set being made available. This way we all get one of each and not in the hands of the greedy few that used to manufacture items just for their own profit in the days of the phonecard. Tony warm3 - 2008-01-10 18:17:00 |
| Nosebag flaw FDC Hi, I was wondering if one of you could help me? I have a 1963 Xmas FDC with a nosebag flaw stamp in very good condition. How do I find out it's catalogue value, or can any one tell me? Thanks in advance. stak - 2008-01-10 18:25:00 |
| 245 nosebag Hi. CP lists the ordinary stamp[SC4a at 30¢used, 40¢ mint and the FDC at $5. The nosebag flaw [ SC4a(U) - plate 1B, R3/8] is listed at $6 mint and $3used. This was a very collected flaw like the apostrophe flaw on the road safety, so many were held, retained and used like this. Value?? between $5 and $10, depends if your buying or selling, etc. Cheers. Tony warm3 - 2008-01-10 19:17:00 |
| 238 high resolution scan of 2007 CALS. I have put a high resolution scan of the cover on my website at http://www.newzeal.com/steve/2007CalPack.htm The scan is very large so I have had to split the cover into two scans. kiwisteven - 2008-01-10 19:38:00 |
| 2007 CAL Pack first day of use cover The cover which was originally listed on trademe has already sold 3 times to "buy now" bids and currently is listed as Auction Number: 135613026. It currently has a bid on it for $40. kiwisteven - 2008-01-10 19:43:00 |
