I know, I know. Don't encourage me!!!!! Worked out an order for about $55 so far, do I pay the $9+ postage or order something else? Will have to ponder that one!! Anyone any ideas?

Depends how big your "stash" is already, and how badly you "need" some more yarn! To make your order over $100 you'd be looking at spending another $36 over and above the $55 you already want and the $9 freight, so it's a question of working out what is more appropriate/affordable. You could always list some of the yarn on here if you didn't think you would use it in the foreseeable future. Just a thought.

nannymaid you really should check out Deramores - lots of bargains to be had *nods knowingly*.

I have found my wool stash and the craft room is taking shape. Mr Critic found me a set of map drawers - perfect for storing my scrapbooking paper (I don't just knit - I paint, scrapbook, make cards, knit and sew too)

They didn't have the amount of wool I need which my DIL liked, waiting to hear from her for an alternative and then THAT button will be pressed! kuaka - my stash is huge, but that doesn't come into the decision to buy more as I have a baby knitting website, even so the amount I have will take years and years (far more than I have left probably) to get through it, but I need the wool on hand to fill orders for preferred colours.

I've started knitting this cap.
Not sure if i want to gift to my sister for her birthday or keep for myself.
I have PLENTY of wool so i could knit 2.

Her birthday is not until July so I've heaps of time to "trial" it before hand lol

Ohhh Whiskey I like that braided hat... I might have to have a go at that, for myself. I love hats.

Pats that is sooo cool.. I cant do fairisle very well. The colours are lovely.

Havent done much knitting in the last couple of days. MrP hasnt been at his best.
We had a day out today. Well he came for the ride and only got out to have lunch. But I did a couple of opp shops for good clean pillows for stuffing. Much cheaper than buying new, even tho these look near enough to new anyway.
I emailed deramores with my thanks and they have asked if I will complete a survery for them. Which I will do later.
I believe in giving praise when it is due.

popeye I cheated. It is self striping wool. It is called Knitcol, and Made in Italy. 100% Lana Merino virgin wool, whatever that is - Lana? I presume a breed of sheep. I bought it at a craft fair here in Christchurch for $12.10 - 50 grams! I see it on Deramores for $7.09 !! It is beautiful to knit with. That beanie was for a 9 - 18 month old and I had a little left over out of a 50 gram ball.

Whiskey, that is very nice. I might have to download that pattern myself.

Just wish I knew about Deramores before I paid $54 for mohair because I couldn't get the eyelash type yarn for a flowergirl bolero. But then that's me....always at the back of the line.....sigh!!!!!

Love that hat whiskey and well done on your finished one pats. I love multi coloured yarn!
I see Deramores has DK discounted today. I am going to abstain! I have enough! lol
Patterns - I keep dropping by Patternfish (.com). It's so easy to buy/download/print all these lovely things to go with my yarn.
This one for instance...

I think it's gorgeous!
This is one I have just finished...

Good morning everyone.... I to will abstain from getting 15% off all DK.. But its going to be hard lol.

I will venture into the office come craft room and put my wool away, and stack the pillows I got for stuffing. its just been a bit of a dumping zone lately.
Had a nice day out yesterday goign round oppys. Got the pillows, two little bits of wool and a new bag.
My god you should have seen the crap I had in the old one lol.

Have to go and do bloods this morning, so may take another look at our oppy while Im up the road.

Have a productive day all Keep up the good work.

Who put 'patternfish' up??? Naughty!! Now its saved to my favourite so I can look later. Ohhh, so a good site. Too bad Ive got to take grandson to day care shortly, paint the doors and scrub the hinges so I can get them hung and in general, housework. sigh, later then...

thyme49 - 2013-01-18 08:56:00

That's right 'thyme' - naughty, naughty nzmu put that site up. As if I haven't got enough patterns already, plus all the free ones from Ravelry, but like you, I have saved it and will look later.

I'm not feeling so good today and am not long out of the bed/shower. All I feel like doing is sleeping. I've only had anaesthetic twice before many years ago and I think I was the same then, very, very tired. However, I will try and get this second beanie finished.

Happy knitting everyone.

Pats its to be expected, to have afew off days, delayed reactions with the surgery..Just dont go over doing it.

I came home from doing my INR blood test and feel flat as a pancake. Which is due to the warfarin.

I have sat and sorted my wool drawers out again. Then sat and knitted.

A nice quiet day

Gidday Ladies. I could have said good morning ladies but it's not morning lol. The down side of shift work.I've only been up since 11:20am. Can someone please hold me back from shooting nzmu. Another pattern site. Just what we all needed. The last of my Deramores order arrived yesterday, just as i was leaving for work. 10 days for everything to arrive from the day i ordered. I'm very impressed and will email them and let them know tonight when i get in.
I've picked gooseberries this morning and stewed some to add to the whipped cream for pudding tomorrow night. Plus taking some into work for my girlfriend who hasn't had fresh gooseberries straight off the bush since she was knee high to a grasshopper. Happy knitting ladies.

ooo gooseberries whiskey! We have just moved (well last year) and I discovered a Gooseberry bush in the back garden. Haven't seen one since I was a dot too!
Can you tell me....is there anything I need do to it to keep it in good health and fruiting?...or do I just let it do its thing?
Oh and....DON'T look at patternfish....instant purchsing and receiving of pattern!...Hide CCcard NOW! lol

ixcelm8 - 2013-01-18 13:05:00

My husband planted three gooseberry bushes when we got our new garden six years ago, and tells me they are cropping wonderfully. I wouldn't know, I haven't seen one yet! He stands in the garden and eats them...
(I don't mind really, it's his obsession not mine, and it could be a lot worse.)

daleaway - 2013-01-18 13:09:00

ixcelm8. the first year the bush was in i let it establish itself, then pruned it, no berries last year.I left it alone after that and i have much more than we could eat. So my advice would be to let i do it's thing gooseberries should only be pruned for shape not fruiting.
I'm not gonna look at patternfish as ravelry keeps me happy.

ooo thanks for that info....there were only a few on it this year...so I should expect a good crop hext year you think.....or maybe there was a good crop this year and hubby has been there!! lol
The strawberries did well this year..and he isn't fond of strawberries!! lol
Re patternfish....if you don't want to be ecstatic and a "happy" with happy.....then yes...step away from that site. :-0 lol

Mr Critics computer desk and Miss 10yrs craft/homework area. We backed 2 cabinets to make an extra work and storage area in the middle
http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/250285030.jpg
looking towards the door - the end wall originally had copper pipes sticking out that we removed and regibbed, the handbasin has running water to wash my paint brushes
http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/full/250285080.jpg
there was a hot water cylinder in the corner that we removed and shelved, the map drawers were given to me and are perfect for my scrapbooking papers and stuff

my wool now has a proper home and there is room for more - but don't tell Mr Critic LOL

The Critic, how much is Board and lodgings?

Ohh that is fantastic...

Sent the lady in the patchwork shop here to this thread she was looking for a pattern. Hope she found it. It was a King cole pattern.

All the knitting needles I have here and I didnt have a pair of 5.5mm/5s.. Went to oppy again and two other shops before she saved me by having needles in there. Metal ones too which I prefer.

We have a big caravan parked in the drive that we could rent out LOL. After having everything in storage for nearly 2 years it has been nice to have it all available again. The room was originally a hair salon (the lady worked from home) so it really needed a huge revamp - there were holes in the walls and the paint was all marked and chipped. I'm really pleased with how it all came together and everything has its place. Can't wait to use my new sewing machine which is still in its box next to my desk, my other one got damaged in the Feb quake.

Superb revamp Helen......superb!
I desperately need to organise my wool better...but first....to get the amount down! lol
Already have broken my new years resolution ( as I was reminded by email by another trader on TM!) I bought a pattern to knit a jersey or two for my grandie.......well I needed it...truly I did!! lol

Thecritic..that room is amazing. Thankyou for sharing, hopefully one day I can post photos of my craft room. We are about to build a liveable shed on our newly bought 20 acres so when we build the forever house I can plan what I want. The bins on the top shelf that you have stored you wool in, are they the 60 litre bins from the warehouse? That is the size that I have stored my wool in too. I have 15 bins that size so far full of wool and 2 big boxes to go through still

what a good size craft room critic. we need the space ay. I have the 3rd bedroom as a craft room. I dont mind where I live as long as I have 3 bedrooms in the house, the last room as a sewing/ craft room.Ixcelm8, I tried growing gooseberries for 2 years, no go here. Must be a nak to it.Had a quick look at patternfish and thought I better get out of it before I get carried away since I saw a couple of nice patterns, so sat down to start knitting my furry bright pink bear that I want to do for my daughters shower party in early March, ditching my other baby knitting. gosh life's busy.

That craft room is absolutely awesome - and whiskey - if you have 15 x 60 litre bins of wool then I don't feel so bad. I only have one 60 litre bin, one big plastic rubbish bin and a suitcase (plus all the other little bags of stuff poked away in less obvious places) so my stash must be just a mere trifle of what some of you ladies have.

I have 12 60 L bins of wool and just looking at i might have to get another one soon. Hubby is getting a man shed built which means all the tool kits etc can be cleared out of the garage and i can move my stash in there - at the moment it is threating to take over our office. I have also been told in no uncertain terms that I am not allowed to start storing my wool in his shed - it is strictly for tractors only!

15 Bins... MrP needs to be thankfull then hahaha.. Id have to do some serious shopping to get that much.

A lovely day here. Our friend from down the road is having a garage sale this morning. And her Hubby is just delivering two lovely old beside cabinets with cabriole legs that I brought last night.
Im sick of our huge and very heavy of wall unit here in the lounge so will buy an internal door and cut it down to the depth of the bedside cabinets. Repaint them and the door and then have them as a side board in the lounge. Big enough to stand my recipe books on and put stuff in the drawers.
Ill do the sanding but MrP will have to paint them. Cos thats one thing I cannot do.
My back is niggly today, so after I have put some lamb shanks in the crockpot I will be sitting knitting, have taken meds.

I just brought the golfer clown pattern so thats another for my collection.

Have a good day all
