I know, I know. Don't encourage me!!!!! Worked out an order for about $55 so far, do I pay the $9+ postage or order something else? Will have to ponder that one!! Anyone any ideas? nannymaid - 2013-01-17 08:55:00 |
| Depends how big your "stash" is already, and how badly you "need" some more yarn! To make your order over $100 you'd be looking at spending another $36 over and above the $55 you already want and the $9 freight, so it's a question of working out what is more appropriate/affordable. You could always list some of the yarn on here if you didn't think you would use it in the foreseeable future. Just a thought. kuaka - 2013-01-17 09:14:00 |
| nannymaid you really should check out Deramores - lots of bargains to be had *nods knowingly*. I have found my wool stash and the craft room is taking shape. Mr Critic found me a set of map drawers - perfect for storing my scrapbooking paper (I don't just knit - I paint, scrapbook, make cards, knit and sew too) thecritic - 2013-01-17 09:15:00 |
| They didn't have the amount of wool I need which my DIL liked, waiting to hear from her for an alternative and then THAT button will be pressed! kuaka - my stash is huge, but that doesn't come into the decision to buy more as I have a baby knitting website, even so the amount I have will take years and years (far more than I have left probably) to get through it, but I need the wool on hand to fill orders for preferred colours. nannymaid - 2013-01-17 13:55:00 |
| I've started knitting this cap. whiskey13 - 2013-01-17 14:10:00 |

| Ohhh Whiskey I like that braided hat... I might have to have a go at that, for myself. I love hats. Pats that is sooo cool.. I cant do fairisle very well. The colours are lovely. Havent done much knitting in the last couple of days. MrP hasnt been at his best. popeye333 - 2013-01-17 15:58:00 |
| popeye I cheated. It is self striping wool. It is called Knitcol, and Made in Italy. 100% Lana Merino virgin wool, whatever that is - Lana? I presume a breed of sheep. I bought it at a craft fair here in Christchurch for $12.10 - 50 grams! I see it on Deramores for $7.09 !! It is beautiful to knit with. That beanie was for a 9 - 18 month old and I had a little left over out of a 50 gram ball. Whiskey, that is very nice. I might have to download that pattern myself. pats3 - 2013-01-17 16:15:00 |

Lana simply means 'wool' in italian. Nothing too fancy! :) fifibear - 2013-01-17 16:19:00 |

| Yes, I also knit socks in the wool that sets it's own pattern. People think I am so clever - LOL, LOL. pats3 - 2013-01-17 16:42:00 |
| O.k you wicked, wicked ladies.....it's all YOUR fault.......my order is in and I made the free postage too....yay! Now all I will do is sit drumming the table with my fingers, watching for the postman/lady to deliver!!!!! 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,etc. etc. I'll never forgive you armin!!!! you encouraged me...lol. 216 | Lol Nannymaid..It wont take long to get there Im sure. I need to get my fingers cracking before I can do my next order. But at this stage I dont really need much more. I havent put away the stuff that arrived yesterday, other than the books. popeye333 - 2013-01-17 18:19:00 |
| Just wish I knew about Deramores before I paid $54 for mohair because I couldn't get the eyelash type yarn for a flowergirl bolero. But then that's me....always at the back of the line.....sigh!!!!! nannymaid - 2013-01-17 18:39:00 |
| I never knew till I started the thread Nannymaid. and I had just spent $60 on cheap acrylic at Spotlight... popeye333 - 2013-01-17 18:44:00 |
| Ha-ha-ha Nannymaid, you can always order some more wool another day too you know. I'm sure there was plenty of other stuff that was tempting you! armin59 - 2013-01-17 20:12:00 |
| Welcome yo the club nannymaid lol whiskey13 - 2013-01-17 23:00:00 |
| Good morning crafters, welcome to the Deramores fan club nannymaid. It is a good thing lol. nzmu - 2013-01-18 06:10:00 |
| Good morning everyone.... I to will abstain from getting 15% off all DK.. But its going to be hard lol. I will venture into the office come craft room and put my wool away, and stack the pillows I got for stuffing. its just been a bit of a dumping zone lately. Have to go and do bloods this morning, so may take another look at our oppy while Im up the road. Have a productive day all Keep up the good work. popeye333 - 2013-01-18 08:28:00 |
| Who put 'patternfish' up??? Naughty!! Now its saved to my favourite so I can look later. Ohhh, so a good site. Too bad Ive got to take grandson to day care shortly, paint the doors and scrub the hinges so I can get them hung and in general, housework. sigh, later then... thyme49 - 2013-01-18 08:56:00 |
| That's right 'thyme' - naughty, naughty nzmu put that site up. As if I haven't got enough patterns already, plus all the free ones from Ravelry, but like you, I have saved it and will look later. I'm not feeling so good today and am not long out of the bed/shower. All I feel like doing is sleeping. I've only had anaesthetic twice before many years ago and I think I was the same then, very, very tired. However, I will try and get this second beanie finished. Happy knitting everyone. pats3 - 2013-01-18 11:43:00 |
| Pats its to be expected, to have afew off days, delayed reactions with the surgery..Just dont go over doing it. I came home from doing my INR blood test and feel flat as a pancake. Which is due to the warfarin. I have sat and sorted my wool drawers out again. Then sat and knitted. A nice quiet day Edited by popeye333 at 12:19 pm, Fri 18 Jan popeye333 - 2013-01-18 12:18:00 |

| I havent dare looked at patternfish yet. lol Wonder how much wool there is in the homes of the country or world lol popeye333 - 2013-01-18 12:54:00 |
| Gidday Ladies. I could have said good morning ladies but it's not morning lol. The down side of shift work.I've only been up since 11:20am. Can someone please hold me back from shooting nzmu. Another pattern site. Just what we all needed. The last of my Deramores order arrived yesterday, just as i was leaving for work. 10 days for everything to arrive from the day i ordered. I'm very impressed and will email them and let them know tonight when i get in. Edited by whiskey13 at 1:01 pm, Fri 18 Jan whiskey13 - 2013-01-18 12:59:00 |
| ooo gooseberries whiskey! We have just moved (well last year) and I discovered a Gooseberry bush in the back garden. Haven't seen one since I was a dot too! ixcelm8 - 2013-01-18 13:05:00 |
| My husband planted three gooseberry bushes when we got our new garden six years ago, and tells me they are cropping wonderfully. I wouldn't know, I haven't seen one yet! He stands in the garden and eats them... daleaway - 2013-01-18 13:09:00 |
| ixcelm8. the first year the bush was in i let it establish itself, then pruned it, no berries last year.I left it alone after that and i have much more than we could eat. So my advice would be to let i do it's thing gooseberries should only be pruned for shape not fruiting. Edited by whiskey13 at 1:25 pm, Fri 18 Jan whiskey13 - 2013-01-18 13:24:00 |
| ooo thanks for that info....there were only a few on it this year...so I should expect a good crop hext year you think.....or maybe there was a good crop this year and hubby has been there!! lol ixcelm8 - 2013-01-18 14:12:00 |
| Ok prepare yourselves - finally as promised, photos of my now finished and dedicated craft room thecritic - 2013-01-18 14:18:00 |
| That's not a craft room critic, it is a craft shop! and so organised, that puts me to shame. I thought I had a lot but only got a few bits compared to yours...lucky you....maybe one day I will have something like that...sigh!! Looked at patternfish but fortunately nothing stands out for me..thank goodness. nannymaid - 2013-01-18 16:22:00 |
| The Critic, how much is Board and lodgings? Ohh that is fantastic... Sent the lady in the patchwork shop here to this thread she was looking for a pattern. Hope she found it. It was a King cole pattern. All the knitting needles I have here and I didnt have a pair of 5.5mm/5s.. Went to oppy again and two other shops before she saved me by having needles in there. Metal ones too which I prefer. popeye333 - 2013-01-18 16:33:00 |

We have a big caravan parked in the drive that we could rent out LOL. After having everything in storage for nearly 2 years it has been nice to have it all available again. The room was originally a hair salon (the lady worked from home) so it really needed a huge revamp - there were holes in the walls and the paint was all marked and chipped. I'm really pleased with how it all came together and everything has its place. Can't wait to use my new sewing machine which is still in its box next to my desk, my other one got damaged in the Feb quake. thecritic - 2013-01-18 17:06:00 |
| Superb revamp Helen......superb! ixcelm8 - 2013-01-18 17:23:00 |
| Hi ladies, just stopped in for a catch-up and chat.... but methinks I had better go hide instead lol. thecritic... WOW!!!! is all I can say!!!! Except maybe "way cool" lol. pats - you take care, plenty of rest. Two years ago when I had my appendix out, that darn anaesthetic knocked me back but good. *exits* quickly before whisky gets me in the cross hairs...... ------>>>> nzmu - 2013-01-18 17:25:00 |

| Thecritic..that room is amazing. Thankyou for sharing, hopefully one day I can post photos of my craft room. We are about to build a liveable shed on our newly bought 20 acres so when we build the forever house I can plan what I want. The bins on the top shelf that you have stored you wool in, are they the 60 litre bins from the warehouse? That is the size that I have stored my wool in too. I have 15 bins that size so far full of wool and 2 big boxes to go through still whiskey13 - 2013-01-18 19:52:00 |

| what a good size craft room critic. we need the space ay. I have the 3rd bedroom as a craft room. I dont mind where I live as long as I have 3 bedrooms in the house, the last room as a sewing/ craft room.Ixcelm8, I tried growing gooseberries for 2 years, no go here. Must be a nak to it.Had a quick look at patternfish and thought I better get out of it before I get carried away since I saw a couple of nice patterns, so sat down to start knitting my furry bright pink bear that I want to do for my daughters shower party in early March, ditching my other baby knitting. gosh life's busy. thyme49 - 2013-01-18 20:05:00 |
| That craft room is absolutely awesome - and whiskey - if you have 15 x 60 litre bins of wool then I don't feel so bad. I only have one 60 litre bin, one big plastic rubbish bin and a suitcase (plus all the other little bags of stuff poked away in less obvious places) so my stash must be just a mere trifle of what some of you ladies have. kuaka - 2013-01-18 20:52:00 |
| I have 12 60 L bins of wool and just looking at i might have to get another one soon. Hubby is getting a man shed built which means all the tool kits etc can be cleared out of the garage and i can move my stash in there - at the moment it is threating to take over our office. I have also been told in no uncertain terms that I am not allowed to start storing my wool in his shed - it is strictly for tractors only! campbellmum - 2013-01-19 06:46:00 |
| campbellmum wrote:
wow! My stash is tiny compared to that - it might equal 2 x 60 litre bins (just). That's heaps to keep me going for a while lol. nzmu - 2013-01-19 07:03:00 |

| 15 Bins... MrP needs to be thankfull then hahaha.. Id have to do some serious shopping to get that much. A lovely day here. Our friend from down the road is having a garage sale this morning. And her Hubby is just delivering two lovely old beside cabinets with cabriole legs that I brought last night. I just brought the golfer clown pattern so thats another for my collection. Have a good day all popeye333 - 2013-01-19 08:41:00 |
