I reckon you can never have too much wool either

#Post
2351

thanks everyone for your kind words. Daughter had a wee 'meltdown' last night but put it all down to hormones and coming off that 'baby high'. All is good and she at least got a few hours sleep.
I've just done daughter's housework - started it yesterday and finished now so floors all vacumed and washed, bathrooms cleaned, washing on, corned beef in crockpot. A full on morning's work! it is sooo humid here but suns out so should get washing dry.
Might put my feet up for a bit before our son gets here and do some crocheting. Will pick up Maddy and family this afternoon :).

ohh wow carole, when are they going to do that?
No sooner sat down and phone rang, daughter saying she was being discharged early and would I like to bring them all home. Didn't have to ask me twice lol.
Just got home and son arrived from Wellington. Awesome to have us all together.
So, no crocheting done yet!

Sounds like your having a wonderful time Kiwimade.. ENJOY

Glad they can do the bladder Carole.

Great news here too. They have two options with MrPs head, a simple light surgery just under the skin above the eye brow, and if that doesn't work they can go back in and use a balloon to separate the nerves and kill them both.
Cos its not affecting his eye, they are hoping the first op will suffice.

6 month wait time here

morning ladies! Thunder woke me (and maddy slept through it lol) so I'm up and about.
Great news popeye about MrP, the six months will hopefully wizz by. Carole, I hope you get your op done quickly too.
Windy and chilly here, I might give my aunt a call and go and do the family visit thing. She's Mum's youngest sister and my Godmother. I don't have much family here in the North island and she has only recently moved here.
Happy knitting!

morning all. I don't want the op and hope they don't have to do it, nice sunny warm day here, I finished a cardy last night, was sick for 2 hours though the night so a bit tired now,

carolev - 2013-09-28 07:38:00
2357

Morning ladies.

Carole if its going to help wouldn't it be better to have it?

Wow Maddy must be one content little girl Kiwimade. Cant say Im a fan of Wanganui. EVerytime we went there we would both get bath asthma .. we always reckoned it was the upside down river.

My back is now totally stuffed again. Using MrPs walker in the house. I hate it. And simply cos put the cats food on the floor and it crunched when I stood up. Cant remember how long it took to unjam last time.
Have a couple of errands to do up the street so they will be slow and painfull but I do need to do them.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2013-09-28 08:45:00
2358

oh dear, your back sounds painful popeye. Carolev - I don't fancy having any operations, but sometimes you are better off for having had them. If you don't have the op, do you just keep suffering all the time. Doesn't sound like a very good option to me.

The weather here is sunny, but with cloud creeping in and very windy. We have rain forecast for later so hope to get a walk in along the beach after breakfast and before rain.

Last night I finished the wretched tunic and guess what, it fits. Could have been just a smidgeon wider and a couple of inches longer to make it really a "tunic" rather than a top and I'm I bit peeved as I have four balls of wool left over, so could have made it bigger. Never mind. I usually make things for me that I end up giving away as they turn out like tents.

I am now going to make a second one, I've got some nice possum/merino in a light navy (the other one I made in dark charcoal in wool/alpaca/mohair so it's a bit fluffy). It is so warm, I should have finished it weeks ago and worn it when it was cold. Never mind.

Have a great day everyone. Think we alter the clocks tonight. Summer is on it's way.

I agree with you Kuaka.. sometimes going through surgery is the best thing to do.. When the option is surgery or a life time of a problem I know what I would take.. every time
This might sound odd but I enjoy being in hospital, where else do we ladies especially get to be waited on , no housework, meals served to you. A choice of meals with no cooking. And time for oneself.
MrP never visits me in hospital, he cannot handle me being sick or in pain. So its better he doesn't visit.
He has been good today, helping me with things I cant do at the mo.
I gave in and took an oxycontin at lunchtime and then had nearly 2 hours sleep. It helped a lot.
I jumped/jerked when I was laying down and it has freed up one part of my back. Still very sore but not as bad as this morning.

Kuaka so pleased you have finished the tunic. Now with the second one you wont be making those mistakes or having to put it down.

Love the bag bags Carole, they come in so handy eh.

Went and paid for my pantries yesterday so they should be delivered on Monday.. They are flat packed. Im going to put them together. Love making things like that. but they will wait till the stuff has gone to the school and my back is a lot better again.

I don't feel like we have had a proper winter.. so not ready for summer just yet lol

popeye333 - 2013-09-28 17:40:00
2361

I'd be quite happy to never have a winter - I remember when I was a kid the sea froze one year. Hope it never gets that cold here.

I'm very pleased with my tunic, although it could have been two inches longer. Hubby seems impressed with it and told me this afternoon (I'm wearing it) that it's "too good to wear" and then growled at me for doing the dishes while I'm wearing it. I'm not stripping off to do the dishes, but I do usually wear an apron when I'm in the kitchen.

I'm actually going to do a tension square this time (never ever do them) but though both yarns are double knit, the one I've already done is much thinner (but a bit fluffy) than the one I plan to use next, so I'll suffer a tension square and take it from there.

kuaka - 2013-09-28 18:04:00
2362

I love winter even tho Im on warfarin lol.

Ive never done a tension square either lol.. I should have with the cardy I did for MrP. Im planning on getting a denim blue version of the nepp wool and making him another cardy too, so will make it a bit smaller and shorter.
Lol at MrK saying its too nice to do dishes in, id have said well im not taking it off you better finish the dishes lol
I have old tops I wear as an apron when Im in the kitchen.. my grotty tops I call them.
We think the neighbours might be pregnant so im going to do some singlets and booties at some stage too.. Yay

Morning everyone... Enjoy having the grandies Carole, don't let them wear you out too much.

Kiwimade I bet your enjoying every minute.

Im still hobbling round like a90 yr old on MrPs walker... The stupid thing is I stand up or get up from lying down at some stage and it will just all un-pinch as easy as it does to pinch. I do stretch my spine out when I lay down in hope that it will let go.. but not yet.

That's an advantage tho cos I really feel like wandering around shops today. but that isn't going to happen lol.

So another quiet day here... I will get my pattern for baby singlets out tho and some wool and do a couple for the kids next door. I shouldn't say kids cos they are probably early 20s, but judging by Jackies roundness Id say she is pregnant. So Ill do some singlets and booties. Maybe a beanie or two too. Fun yay.

How long will you be with Maddy etc Kiwimade?

Have a good day everyone.

popeye333 - 2013-09-29 08:58:00

still one finger typist lol, maddy still asleep in my arms. We will be here until Wednesday.

2369

Have you put that baby down yet nana Kiwimade? lol

Yes have confirmation of a wee girl being due in December , next door.

Have done one bootie this morning. Stupidly decided to get out of the house for no other reason than to just go out. Normally only happens when we have appointments somewhere. so ended up shuffling around the warehouse and then went and got some fruit and veges.

Making home made burger for MrPs tea. its been a long time since Ive made them.. Don't know what Ill have I don't like burgers.

Hope everyone is doing well, Im still waiting for the old lady to leave my bones alone lol

Have a good day

lol popeye, I did eventually and just in time as she dirtied her nappy. Good timing by me! Midwife has been and gone and she has gained 170 grams in 2 days! she was so placid as she was woken, undressed, measured, wieghed, heart listened too and redressed. Just went back to sleep.
Daughter and son in law managed to get two hours sleep earlier which is great.
Might be able to get some crocheting done this evening fter all :)
Happy knitting :)

kiwimade64 - 2013-09-29 17:24:00
2371

Lol at the great timing. Nanas know these things eh .

MrP and I were adding up the fact that in the 9 years we have lived here , there has been 5 babies arrived from the unit next to us... We were meant to have that Unit not the one we are in... Lol not that that would have happened with us tho thank goodness.

Nice that when the mood strikes me for wanting to knit baby things I have somewhere to pass it to.

Happy knitting everyone... Ill do my blanket when I watch NZGT

morning girls what a wet night, I got grandkids today happy happy feeling not. won't get much done me feels wet day and 2 small kids not a good combination , hope you are all well and happy .

morning ladies :) Get the crayons and paper, scissors and glue out carole and get the kids creating something for mummy :P. Will keep them busy for a while.
Am having a giggle about that unit next to you popeye, must be something in their water lol.
Hope everyone is on the mend today, another nana day for me. One load of nappies on the line in the conservatory, another in the wash and another in a fresh bucket of napisan. Goodness this baby is good, cries only when wet or hungry and settles quickly.
It's going to be a wet day here too, too wet for son to ride his bike back to Wellington so he's going to stay a bit longer.
Happy knitting :)

Morning everyone...

Yup get the art stuff out Carole, even old magazines cut up make good collages. Or if your game blow up a balloon and paper mache them. Miss "playing" with kids like that.
Maddy sounds like she is one very content baby. How does your son feel being an Uncle Kiwimade?
Im thinking the baby due next door will be similar. Her parents are very quiet relaxed people.
Pain still massive but I am going to sit and knit.. I need to get to my singlet pattern. Might be physically easier to find on online lol.

My Pantries should arrive today Yayay... They have to wait till I have room to put them together and until I can actually put them together. Have found a desk/table on here. Going to show MrP and see if he can handle having it standing in the shed for a while.

Have a wonderfull day everyone.

popeye333 - 2013-09-30 08:21:00
2375

he loves it popeye, he is totally smitten by her. Knew he would be!
edited to add, if you are going to do paper mache, flour and water paste makes excellent glue and hardens really well. I should have used it in my class last year instead of wallpaper paste which was too soft for the piggy banks we made.

Well it rained for a while last night, but not right through the night, (well not the time I was awake tossing and turning till after 3am) but it's just started raining again now, it's windy, but there is a bit of blue sky. I plan to finish curtain number 3 today, having finished the second one yesterday and hung it next to the old one - what a difference. Changes the look of the room completely. Photo later.

Then I shall do some knitting, I've already started tunic number two, this time using possum/merino and it's in a French navy which isn't quite so hard on the eyes as the slightly fluffy brushed deep charcoal. Mr K told me again yesterday that I'll wear it out if I keep wearing it. What's the alternative, leave it in the drawer. Can't see much point in that.

Rain has just got much heavier.

That little grandie of yours sounds absolutely adorable kiwimade, and carolev I don't envy you having two youngsters and a wet day - not a good combination. You'll have to dig deep to come up with some creative way to keep them entertained, but I'm sure you'll do it, and they will love you for it. My gran taught me to play cards, and I used to cheat a bit by looking at the reflection in her glasses to see if she had red cards or black ones - couldn't actually see what the cards were, just the colour, but it was enough to help sometimes. We used to play a game called 'Newmarket'.

Well that's enough prattle from me, better go and do something useful like have breakfast.

Happy knitting everyone.

they played with their toys and I had no trouble with them . have 2 again tomorrow but different pair. both girls this time so will have dolls every where, luck I have plenty of dolls. pram, cot, highchair and dolls clothes , I got about 200 dolls let them play with about 40 of them only, the boy likes his car and race tracks.

carolev - 2013-09-30 15:45:00
2378

Well done Carole... They can be very tiring eh..

Ive done the pair of booties and sewn them up etc. Just cast on for a ribbed singlet. Ill use some double knitting for the cord around the neckline, in the same strong crimson pink that I have used in ribbon on the booties. I might do a beanie in white too. And that will make a nice set.
Then Ill make a couple of things for winter time.

So nice being able to satisfy my need to knit pretty baby things and know that they will be appreciated.

Tea isn't far off being cooked. so have a nice night everyone

They are lovely curtains Kuaka.. Rich and calming,,

Wow that's early to be up Carole.

Im happy to report my Hip has Un -Pinched... Back is still as bad as ever but at least getting up and down from the chair isn't so bad now the hip has righted itself.

I have decided to crochet a blanket for baby when I have finished the singlet. Will do it in purple mauve and cream... Havent done a blanket in ages but Im fairly fast at my blankets once I get back in rythym.

Have a good day everyone

popeye333 - 2013-10-01 08:59:00

carolev - I had a night like that on Sunday, must have been 3.30 or later before I finally dozed off and so we were really late getting up yesterday, it was afternoon tea time before we had lunch. I'm really pleased with the curtains. I'd like to make new ones for the bedroom (same fabric, different colouring) before tackling the two huge ranch slider ones. I don't like the ones in the bedroom, and son is desperate for some for his spare bedroom so he can have the ones we've got if I make us some new ones. Hubby thinks the bedroom ones are low priority so we'll have to see who wins that decision.

Quite windy again today, and it feels quite cool - haven't checked the temp but the sun is shining albeit it's a watery looking effort.

Going to do some more on my tunic, I've nearly used the first ball already. It is knitting up really nicely.

happy knitting everyone.

morning! Just handed maddy back to her daddy to have her nappy changed... ommg this nana 'gig' is fantastic lol.
Kuaka, your curtains look lovely. Gorgeous blue.
Today we are tiki touring after the midwife has been. Daughter commented Maddy has outgrown some of her clothes already! She lives in that peurperium (however it is spelt lol) cardy and the midwives just love it too. So when I get home, I'll be knitting a few more for her.
Finished one owl for the owl crochet blanket - it's taken a whole week to crochet a circle of six rows! Last day in Whanganui today, heading home tomorrow.
Happy knitting :)

And in case anyone is wondering, that's not a toilet roll sitting in amongst the clutter on the top of the sideboard, it's a roll of the stiffening I use to do the heading for the French pleats. I really must clear the clutter away. It's on my "to do" list.

kuaka - 2013-10-01 11:14:00

I hadn't noticed Kuaka lol...

Lol good timing Nana... you know when to hand Maddy back.

Ive started a blanket for Baby.. Dark purple, mauve and cream. Looks nice.. Ive made many in my time, we have green, pink and mauve ones in the house now, but have made oodles for other people.

So Im alternating between the singlet, baby blanket and my blanket lol

morning all. well this olive leaf oil is great for diabetes, gone from high reading to low reading in less than a day and yesterday only took 10 unit's of insulin all day when I offern have up to 50 unit's a day, finished off the beanie and did lots of sewing yesterday

morning! Awesome carole, and I bet you feel a lot better for it.
Don't know why I bought my knitting etc down with me lol as I only did 6 tiny rows of crochet (in a circle). Still I had lots of cuddles which is sooo much better.
We're off home today, a four hour trip, and will pick the dog up along the way, so probably more like five hours lol.
Happy knitting :)

Safe travelling kiwimade, and I'm sure the cuddles were much better than knitting or crocheting - after all that's available to you any time you choose, but Maddy will never be a newborn baby again.

Olive leaf oil sounds great carolev - can't say I'd heard of it until you mentioned it.

Not sure of our plans today, but it looks like being a great one weatherwise, although it is a bit cooler this morning. I shall no doubt squeeze some knitting in. New tunic is progressing nicely so I plan to concentrate on that for a while.

Have a great day everyone.

kuaka - 2013-10-02 08:20:00
2390

Morning everyone... Lol at the 6 wee rows Kiwimade... I agree with Kuaka, Maddy will only be small for so long.
Have a safe trip home... at least the weather is better today than when you went down.
Will have to look up about Olive leaf oil Carole, MrP and I are both type two, he is on insulin and Ill also mention it in our diabetes thread in general.

I wanted to wake up pain free today, but sadly it hasn't happened.. Im in for a teary day cos its getting me down.
Ive got so much to do tomorrow that cant be put off, up the street, but I might dose up later and go and do a couple of things this afternoon, to cut it down for tomorrow.

Am doing the sleeve and neck bit of the singlet. Its one of those ones knitted in one piece. And have done a bit on the blanket. Might take a photo later to show you the colours,

Have a good day all

Omg, one week away and the garden has gone nuts so it's outside for the next few days to get it all sorted again. Need to take dad to Waikato Hosp tomorrow for tests so will make a start when I get home.
I love the colours you are using popeye, and I'm sure it will be gratefully received.

Showed my friend the bit of blanket she wants some now.. Have to work out how much wool they take. Its been so long since Ive made them I have forgotten.

I'm going to be out in the garden over the next few days, lawns need mowing, edges trimmed and lots of weeding.

Morning everyone... Gosh its starting to warm up quickly.

Im the same Kiwimade I make all our appointments as early as possible.. In saying that tho our drs app on Monday is just on lunchtime. But its worth waiting for to have our good dr.

Pleased to report my back has unpinched Yay, just one small bit to go. And the muscles need to unwind and relax back to normal. Will still take things easy but at least I can stand unaided for longer than 30 seconds now.

Have to go do banking and shopping this morning. So Ive doped myself up incase lol

Nothing like your own bed eh Kiwimade

Carole I cant wait till my sewing machines are set on the table properly.. I have a table now and my pantries. just have to wait for the school to get the mattress and wall unit and then I can put the room together.

Have a good day everyone

Hi all,
Hope all are feeling bright and chirpy again - good that your back us "unwound" itself popeye - painful backs are so tiring.
Just home again from several days in Wellington and met Niece's new little one she is adorable but so tiny after looking after a 4 and 2 year old and a 5 month. All the little ones are lovely to care for but like you kiwiemade I am happy to get back to my own bed.

Managed to do some of the 10 stitch blanket while I was away, no need to concentrate on my knitting and could pick it up when I had a few free moments.

Gardening today but have to go into town first.
Good to hear your back is better popeye.
