morning ladies, wow did we get some rain last night and early this morning. It's sooo soggy underfoot. Housework today after the racing as I never got it done yesterday then I might get some sewing done today.
The Furry One is back to his usual bouncy hooning self :D, so good to see him 'back'. I missed playing our games and having him underfoot (even if I do grumble occasionally about it lol).
Happy knitting and gooooo Team NZ!!

Morning Ladies..

I reckon we have this one in the bag.. Yayayay... MrP started watching it in the bedroom so I got my extra bit of sleep.

Glad the JR is back to himself, I know what you mean Kiwimade they are such fidjets eh

Very sore this morning... Wish it would go away...lol

I have a mountain of washing to fold, well just two baskets cos I hadn't got the load out of the dryer oops.

Mild tho, 18 degrees in the lounge already.

Enjoy our Win ladies, I reckon its pretty safe.. Have a good day

well, we thought we had it won, but the clock beat us! I can't put into words how I feel. Cheated is putting it mildly. Grrrr. Well I shall sit and watch the next one and knit as well. Just listening to Peter Lester saying we should be able to win this one because we are faster than the cheats as long as the wind doesn't die out or build too much.

Sit back and enjoy it ladies. I still haven't bought the champagne, but IF we win this one, I shall go down the road and buy some.

by that I guess we lost

carolev - 2013-09-21 12:42:00
2307

carolev - we were miles ahead in the first race which was abandoned because we didn't complete the course in 40 minutes because the wind was much lighter. We got beaten in the second race (which I think was a re-run of the abandoned race) because we made a mistake and the cheats got a penalty on us. I feel as though I've been robbed, especially as this is the first time that it's been necessary to get to 9 wins to take the cup, all previous times it's been 5 wins takes it. And I think we had 5 before they had any (but maybe they had just one - can't remember now)

I've got my red socks out to wear tomorrow.

morning girls. guess no knitting will be done this morning, what a wet night with thunder and lighting, and stray tom cats, been in spraying again, just how do you stop them, god my house stinks, found some flick baby wool so doing a cardy , good luck team NZ win this race

carolev - 2013-09-22 07:32:00
2309

morning ladies :) We had the loudest thunder I have ever heard in the wee hours, it shook the house! Then lots of lightening and heavy rain.
Dam tom cats, our JR would chase him off lol. Does he come in through the cat door carol? If he does, you may need to lock it at night and keep your cats inside (with a litter tray if needed). I used to squirt them with the hose whenever I saw them on our property. This used to deter them.
Might get some knitting done, will see how the day pans out.
Happy knitting :).

Morning everyone...I only heard one lot of thunder lol.. MrP assures me it was pretty bad. but I was tired and when I sleep I sleep lol he used to be able to vaccum around the bed with the Kirby and I wouldn't stir.
Carole baking soda and white vinegar will help cut the smell down a bit. And yep arm yourselves with water pistols.
I would shut yours in at night too... Ours have always been kept inside at night.
I cant get myself interested in the racing this morning.. It may change once they finally start tho.
Gotta pop up the road at some stage and have a pick up coming today..
Am over half way on the blanket bit now. Its growing nicely... I don't know that's Id garter stitch a blanket ever again tho lol.. Just feels like you gotta do twice the amount lol.
Have a good day everyone

Morning everyone.

Not good news Carole.. My Twin had one on Friday night too. Hes in Melbourne hospital. They tried an angio plasty straight away but his arteries are too blocked to get through. They will try again today and if it doesn't work they will do a bypass.
Who would have thought that both of us would have matching scars before we are 50.. Mind you mine is simple plumbing that was wrong from conception. My aortic valve didn't form properly.
But Im strange too, I grew an extra gullet, have also grown gall stones and ganglion's as well lol.
Its amazing what they can do these days, Waikato has one of the top heart surgeons there. He is one of the very few who can do heart surgery laproscopically.

Hopefully not long till the race... Fingers crossed for that too.. Go TNZ

Sorry to hear about your son-in-law Carolev and your twin popeye. Hope they both make full recoveries.

Well my red socks didn't work, I'm not sure what else I can do except hope, hope, hope.

I watched the first race in bed, but have decided to watch this one in the family room so I can do some knitting. I made good progress yesterday on my tunic, and only have 20 rows on one side of the v neck to finish the main part, I think I have to extend the back to match the front, and I will have to unpick a bit of the side seam as I've managed to sew it a bit unevenly and the armhole cast off is out by a couple of rows although I've knitted the same amount of rows on both pieces. Grrrr. Cat slept on it again last night.

Looks like the weather is okay today but it's all going to turn to custard tomorrow, so I might try to do some weeding today, and I want to finish my curtain and hang it.

Happy knitting everyone.

Hi all, sending best wishes to those in hospital, and families - such a worrying time. Do hope all will be well xoxo
Sunny here today after a wet weekend, so can finally get some washing done. Will watch next race but don't know if I can stand any more if they don't get it today - poor guys they must be so frustrated. Thinking positive thoughts for them.

maible - 2013-09-23 09:21:00
2317

I don't think ill watch any more racing.. Ill just wait for the verdict.

I cant shake the feeling that it will end up in court as Larry wants... But I think they will be found for altering things theyre not allowed to... they have done it once I don't think they would think twice about doing it again.

No news from the twin yet... His partner wont keep in touch anyway. so if he has a bypass Ill have to wait till he contacts me.
She doesn't understand how twins work, Ive told her she wont ever get between us... and that's something she has to learn to live with.

I agree with you re the Americas Cup popeye - it's not the classic race it used to be, too much greed and money involved now.

It must be awful for you waiting to hear news of your brother, I'm not good at waiting and would be very stressed. Sending best thoughts your way xo

jayemtoo - 2013-09-24 07:31:00
2322

Oh kiwimade, I hope the labour doesn't take long and let's hope today is the day we can get the auld mug home where it belongs.

Miserable day here, wet and windy and probably going to get worse. I managed to do some serious weeding yesteday (not for very long as I quickly ran out of puff but I made quite a difference to the small overgrown area I was tackling) This morning I hope to do the hem on the curtain, iron it and hang it. Then I'm off out for the afternoon

I finished a sock for myself yesterday and have just started on the second one. Also finished the top of the tunic yesterday, so now just have to join the shoulder seams and do the arm bands and collar. Then decide if I like it, as the plan was to make a second using some really nice possum merino yarn that I've got.

Have a great day everyone, and try to squeeze some knitting in.

kuaka - 2013-09-24 08:28:00
2323

morning everyone... YAYAYAYAY Kiwimade... cant wait to hear the news... Come on Maddy you bring that Cup with you...

Have unfortunately got the racing on, but Im not concentrating on it.

I even did a bit of weeding yesterday.. The vege garden at the back. It was easier than I thought it would be. Long strands of Ki-kuyu grass in it too.. Im not being super clean in it.. Just get the worst of it off then we will spray it and keep it sprayed.. wont be planting it, cos its too hard to keep up. Neither of us good at bending.. need raised beds.

Didn't knit yesterday.. MrP has massive moods which got me grumpy so I sat and watched tv.
Hopefully will get some done today

Fingers crossed for Maddys safe arrival.. All us TM Auntys are excited lol

Wasn't a long labour then?

popeye333 - 2013-09-24 17:43:00

she went into labour at 9.00pm last night so reasonably long. We didn't know until this morning when they were leaving for the hospital.

morning all. what a wild night, congratulation kiwimade being a granny is the best feeling out, looks like the section stood up to storm and winds ,

carolev - 2013-09-25 07:16:00
2329

Morning everyone..

Have you stopped smiling yet Kiwimade? lol

MrP said it was wild winds last night. I didn't hear a thing lol

I reckon if oracle win this race we need to use our wild card for the next lol

No plans as such today. Should get close to finishing the strip Im working on.

Have a good day all

popeye333 - 2013-09-25 08:30:00
2330

the kiwis have just said they're ready to race again, not using their postponement card. I can hardly bear to watch.

I think we had the worst of the weather yesterday afternoon and then it shuffled off further south.

No plans for today except we have someone calling round about 12.30ish to see us.

Might finish my ironing and have a quick tidy up, and then this afternoon might start on the next curtain, seeing as the new one I put up yesterday is such a big improvement on what was there before, and no doubt I will find time to do some knitting. Started on my second sock last night.

Have a great day everyone, I hope none of you are among those that have no power.

kuaka - 2013-09-25 08:58:00
2331

I was hoping we would play the postponement card too Kuaka.

Glad you like the new curtain up... I loved doing mine, took me a lot longer than it should have cos I was getting over heart surgery. But it was soo nice when they were done.
MrP was helping my friend move, driving the car with the trailer, he didn't lift anything etc. so I put the new ones in his room first.. I still love them as much today
Think its pretty much the Hauraki plains that lost power.

And Kiwimade is down that way, Id say by the fact there is no messages from her, that its out for her way . Hope they are fine.

Nearly time for race two

popeye333 - 2013-09-25 09:13:00
2332

oh dear. I feel sick. I can't believe that we've needed just one race for so long and now both us and the cheats need one race. It seems so unfair when we've been beaten by the clock, the wind limits and the other crew. I'm resigned to the fact that the rich cheats will retain the cup. Pleased I didn't go and buy that bottle of bubbles.

I'll put up a pic of the new curtain tonight - if I remember.

kuaka - 2013-09-25 10:37:00
2333

Im not going to let it depress me. Resigned to the fact that we wont win. On one hand Im pleased cos I never wanted to have to go through all the rigmarole that goes with having the cup here.

As someone suggested in the general thread, maybe next time no one will want to contend against it.. That would be a good poke in the eye for the cup holders.

Have 52 rows of my blanket to do now

popeye333 - 2013-09-25 12:14:00
2334

new Zealand can't really afford to have the cup we have starving kids to feed sick people we need to spend out taxes in school hospitals and us oldies not a silly boat race

carolev - 2013-09-25 19:35:00
2335

we made it to whanganui, was a slow trip as the roads were slippery and we had a little bit of rain. Lots of road works where they were cleaning up slips and one truck fell over on it's side just out of Kihikihi. Luckily it fell on it's left side so the road wasn't blocked :P and MrK said it was just as well we didn't have a crane in the way lifting it back onto the road.
Maddy is just gorgeous - so placid! She sleeps, eats and poops lol which is about all a newborn does. No crying yet! Had lots of cuddles and I'll post pics either later on or tomorrow. MrK and son in law are in bed already, they are knackered so I'm going to do the dishes which are stacked up here as everyone obviously left in a hurry!
No knitting today but will get some crochet done tomorrow as I'm daughter's support person for when the doctors do the rounds. Maddy is having her heel prick test tomorrow and daughter has asked me to be there. I'm starting the owl blanket :).
happy knitting :)

Hope you are feeling better carole.
I'm off to the hospital again this morning - lovely daughter can stay in till Friday and not be booted out so quickly. I've got my crocheting organised.
Here's a pic I took last night, not the best as I was tired and having to use a flash. Hopefully I will get some better ones today.

Morning everyone.... Hope you feel better soon Carole

Kuaka the curtain is lovely.. Love the colours

Aww Kiwimade, Maddy is beautifull. I like seeing a nice size baby. Is mum ok?

I finished the strip last night. Will sew the couple of ends in. Have to check my wool supply, I have far more of the lemon so I might make that the second colour and the light blue the least colour. Will see later.

Im ignoring the race lol

Shopping this morning, its wild and wool out there but no rain as yet.

Have a good day everyone

What a disappointment, turns out they have some automated system on their boat that automatically gets them up on their foils, we have to do it manually on our boat, so looks like they are racing a Ferrari and we are in an Austin 7. I really feel for our boys, but I'm over it. Now I can back on with what matters, curtains, knitting and gardening.

Gosh, Maddy looks beautiful, what a lot of hair. I didn't see my granddaughter until she was almost 4, but she had masses of hair when she was born. My daughter said she looked as though she needed a haircut.

I've got the second and third curtains cut out, seams joined, and on one of them I've got the stiffening on the top and the french pleat stitching roughly marked, so I will mark it properly today and stitch it. Oh I've pinned the hem on it, I remembered after I'd done the pleats on the one for the ranch slider, that it's easier to do the hem before you do the pleats as the fabric is flat.

And I plan to do some more to my tunic today.

Happy knitting or whatever you're doing today.

You are so right, I do want to learn to spin, I have the wheel sitting here (had it about 12 years or more) and I have a stash of "stuff" whatever it's called, waiting to be spun, but I haven't been able to find anyone to teach me. Would you like to come up here for a holiday and teach me?

I had a spinning wheel but just couldn't 'get it' so ended up selling it. Wish I had persevered.

Hi all
Maddy looks so gorgeous Kiwimade.
Love the curtains Kuaka the blue is lovely.
Agree with you Carolev it has been interesting to see the America's cup but don't think the taxpayer should ever pay for another there are so many better things the money could be used for.
Have finished off several little garments that were just waiting for buttons or pressing so now almost caught up again except for a couple of blankets which are on the go for me to pick up when I don't want to concentrate.
Off to Wellington tomorrow to baby sit Nieces' children and await the arrival of next little great niece. I'll take my 10 stitch blanket to do as I know that I can only snatch time for knitting when the little ones are asleep.
Sleep well all

Morning everyone... Good luck for the bladder repairs Carole

We are off to Auckland Hospital to MrPs neurology appointment... Hopefully they can do something about his problem. And hopefully theres nothing sinister in there. But if there is we will deal with it. not natural worriers here, we just take things as they come.

Take care everyone

morning ladies! Oh no carole, get well soon :).
Thanks jayemtoo, she is just gorgeous and sleeps like you wouldn't believe!
Today is the day Maddy comes home and our son is riding up from Wellington to meet her as well. The weather just has not been good enough for him to ride until now.
I haven't got much knitting done lol, too busy being a Nana. Had some wonderful mum time with my daughter, lots of talking and remembering.
Will try and knit but somehow doubt I will be able too, busy busy day today.
Happy knitting :)

Best wishes to mr popeye and carolev for their hospital visits. And aren't you lucky kiwimade that Maddy sleeps well, is so much better and easier for the rest of the family if the baby is contented, so frustrating and worrying for new parents when baby does nothing but cry. Baby does look adorable.

I didn't get anything done on my second curtain yesterday as we had an unexpected visitor so that took a couple of hours out of the afternoon and by the time the visitor had gone it was time to think about cooking tea. Never mind - we don't get many visitors so it was a change, and the curtain is still there, nobody else has done it for me, so I plan to do it today. AND I'm now on the collar of my tunic - I think I've already decided that I didn't make it long enough, but it was only ever a "trial run". Still have the armhole bands to do as well, but I'm trying to decide what type of wool to use next time and what colour to do. But before I start another one, I'm determined to sew up the top I made 18 months ago. I'm sick of it looking at me, it's beside my chair and every time I sit down and don't pick it up, I feel guilty.

Have a great day everyone.

All the best Carolev with the fixing of the bladder.
Can imagine you won't have much time for knitting Kiwimade anyway cuddles are even better than knitting I think she won't be short of little knitters at the moment anyway lol
Unexpected visitors can be fun - I know how you feel Kuaka about having a persistent UFO somehow there are a few things which just sit and sit and the longer they are there the less you feel like doing them I had one particular jersey that waited 3 years to get finished!
Happy day all
