| 17 month old B not staying after all. IRD put money in SIL's account as a tax refund, they made plans to go out and yesterday they are told it was a mistake and they took the money back out. Heart-breaking eh? However B took his first steps unaided across our lounge this afternoon. Not once but 3 times. Great fun and he loved the attention. grizzly4 - 2009-12-05 19:26:00 |

| His name is Beren, who I think was one of the princes in Lord of the Rings. Very different name for a very different wee boy. He has snow white hair and huge pale blue eyes. He is in the 90 percentile in height which isn't so bad when he stands but weird to be that size and crawling. He is the 'miracle' baby for our family, though. grizzly4 - 2009-12-06 10:15:00 |

| Trust the IRD TO ST---F things up grizzly. Poor guys. What a let down. How cool B is walking. We had a hell of a party. We are all exhausted. K the 20 year old grandson got heaps of clothes and money which he will need. His Aunty took him shopping and bought him the clothes for everyone. He came home with clothes 2 sizes smaller because he always wore baggy clothes but he has lost weight and was very pleased with his appearance in some of his new duds. Ha ha. The four older grandsons yapped and yipped it up until the wee hours. It will be awhile before they are all together again. makerealbany - 2009-12-06 20:16:00 |
| I bought some stuff off a trader on here but the used by date was 17-05-09. I am a bit annoyed but because it is a drink to aid digestion I thought I would make some up and see if it is any good before I put feedback. I have purchased this frozen from the supermarket and it works well better than Metamucil. What do you think? makerealbany - 2009-12-06 20:21:00 |
| I have used items just passed their use by date and they have been fine. I usually just check the packaging and sealing. Those dates are more for selling, aren't they? grizzly4 - 2009-12-07 08:08:00 |
| Well I packed up my desk and brought work home for the day today and what do you know, Chrisco arrived at 6.50am!! Still working from home though. Had 2 year old L. for a few hours last night. Took him to see the kite-surfing on the beach. Great fun although I think he was more interested in the seagulls struggling to fly in the wind above us. Haha. Amazing how their behaviour changes when parents arrive, eh? grizzly4 - 2009-12-08 08:22:00 |
| Tried out the Kiwi Crush. Was okay. M has now decided she is not ready for sleep and gets out of her cot. She visited her Mum at 4 this morning. Mum is not pleased. Nana put her down for an afternoon nap and 1 hour later finally got her to sleep. I was up down, up down, etc. After putting her back for at lest the 20th time, I sat in the chair by her cot and sang her lullabys until she dropped off. She is very determined and she was so tired the little minx. I got my Chriscoe,s early too grizzly but my Invalid son had to wait 2 days for his. makerealbany - 2009-12-08 21:18:00 |
| The courier would not deliver it up the stairs in the rain. He had 4 boxes. We rang and complained when we found the card in the letterbox asking us to pick it up from their depot. They came back a second time and the same thing happened and then his boss was rung and finally at 6 15 at night it was delivered. On the cards the driver had written attempted delivery. Chrisco tracked it both days. It was very frustrating for my son and for me because I gave him the hampers as a gift so it was all in my name. All sorted now. makerealbany - 2009-12-08 21:24:00 |
| My grand daughter is a little lovable ratbag but her behaviour does change when Mum gets home. makerealbany - 2009-12-08 21:26:00 |
| I have to sit with 2yr old L. when he stays over as well otherwise he keeps getting up. I take 2 books to his room now, One to read to him and my own for me to read while I wait for him to go to sleep. I found the fastest way was not to interact with him. He is happy just knowing I'm there and off to sleep he goes. grizzly4 - 2009-12-09 08:29:00 |
| She was much better today grizzly. I just sat in her room and she did not get up once. Maybe that was because we had the Mainly Music Christmas party. She loves all the activities and was tuckered out when she got home. Ha ha. She was given a lovely book so I read that to her tonight before Mum got home. She will miss going there on Wednesdays. She loves music and dancing. She was playing with her big Tonka truck this arvo shovelling stones into it and then tipping it out again. The dogs were running around and when they got too close she told them to "get back". She lets Jed just lay next to her sunning his fat old self. He takes off after awhile though because she tries to lift him into the truck. I think she really misses her Dad now that she is older. She is always with him outside when he is home. She is an outdoors girl. The girl has 4 pairs of gumboots. Ha ha. makerealbany - 2009-12-10 00:40:00 |
| Hi Smartgirl. how are the girls? It was really hot here today. Got all the linen washed and dried and it did not go out until 12. Knitting M another little cotton cardi. She is growing so fast I am finding it harder to keep up. Little K has lots of things I have knitted that are still too big for him thank goodness. makerealbany - 2009-12-10 00:44:00 |
| I am looking forward to starting on winter jerseys, vests, hats and gloves for the boys after Christmas. If I do all for daughter's wee boy first 'cos she has already put in her list then maybe DIL will be inspired.????!!!!. I finish work for the year on the 18th. Had the Women's group break up yesterday. We spent a lovely time doing a tour of Lavendale, the lavender farm at Tai Tapu just out of Christchurch and the lunched at the Raspberry Cafe also in Tai Tapu. We had an outdoor table under beautiful trees as it was 28 degrees and the food was wonderful. Can definitely recommend going to both places. grizzly4 - 2009-12-10 09:00:00 |
| Oh grizzly sounds like a great day, I wish we were all there. You have had such extremes in weather lately, how do you know what to wear. Our miss 2 is the best at going to bed, even now she is in a bed she just never gets out, she loves her sleep. First one out of 6 not to get out of bed ever. smartgirl - 2009-12-10 09:49:00 |
| Makereal, these girls have heaps of gumboots and love wearing them even with their best clothes. We are off to the pools today. They are both waterbabies. smartgirl - 2009-12-10 09:50:00 |
| Good morning ladies.... I am sitting up in bed "blogging" and catching up with myself. Its been a busy few weeks and next week is even busier. My 89 year old Mum came to the rescue with my Christmas quilt gift and is finishing the hand sewing on the binding. I was finding it hard to do as I have two new kittens (9 weeks old) who chase everything that moves and would jump all over me and the quilt. Actually, speaking of kittens, they are VERY quiet right now .... I think that is a good sign with kittens. But if they were 2 year old children, I would have to investigate :) barbrose - 2009-12-12 09:43:00 |
| Are the kittens a gift to yourself, barbrose? Or do have to find homes for them? No that I'm offering of course 'cos I have 3 beauties of my own. 3 girls, 2 white and one ginger. Mac & Flurry are named after the McDonald's icecream 9 years ago and Jinx, who came home with my daughter in a friends car and they had an accident on the way. She named her. Mac has a bit of a gender issue as we thought she was a boy until we took them all for neutering. What a surprise! Flurry has a longer coat than her sister and isn't as laid back either. She gets in a right Flurry! grizzly4 - 2009-12-12 10:15:00 |
| Thought I would share these Edited by grizzly4 at 10:25 am, Sat 12 Dec grizzly4 - 2009-12-12 10:24:00 |
| they are gorgeous. I really love the last photo of the three of them. The kittens are mine... I lost my old girl at 18 years earlier this year and had been waiting for my daughter's cat to have grandchildren (LOL) .. one of her kittens has produced a litter and I have two of them. Norris is ginger fluffy and Molly is a dark grey fluff. Will post some photos too barbrose - 2009-12-12 13:17:00 |
| http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/34/114200934_full.jp Norris is the most adventurous as you will see in one of the photos. barbrose - 2009-12-12 13:28:00 |
| Hi girls. Tried to post last night but darn link dropped out. Up on my grandson's computer at Orewa. Lovely cats girls. Jed jumped on my back this morning just as I was leaning forward to put my slippers on. He is getting downright silly in his old age. lol. makerealbany - 2009-12-12 14:25:00 |
| Great to hear from you smartgirl. M loves the pools and water as well. It has been really hot some days so she has had a ball with her waterplay. makerealbany - 2009-12-12 14:27:00 |
| barbrose you are so lucky having Mum come to the rescue. My Little quilt is still being worked on. I have been flat out as well as everyone else and just finishing off things for xmas. makerealbany - 2009-12-12 14:28:00 |
| Barbrose, I love your babies!!! It takes me back to when mine were little. Nine years have gone so fast. They all have their secret hiding places when the grandsons arrive but are back by their bowls even before they are out of the drive when they go home. So funny! grizzly4 - 2009-12-12 14:40:00 |
| Back home. On line again. It is unusual to see 3 of them lolling about at once grizzly. Thank heavens they all get on well. aye. Jed got on with the late dayla but does not get on with other cats. He is a loner poor thing. I thought about getting a kitten for a mate for him but I have not done anything yet. Little M would so love a kitten. She chases Jed everywhere. She knows where his Purina is and tries to feed him. It is drizzling here. We stopped at the park on our way home in between the showers to tire M out. Ha ha. She is still on the go. makerealbany - 2009-12-12 17:03:00 |
| Everyone busy yesterday it seems. The photo of the 3 of them asleep on the couch was a very hot day when they were only a year old. It was a rare occasion for them hence the photo. Heehee. These days they have their own spots. The one taken on the bed doesn't happen often either. Jinx has to usually creep under the covers once the other girls are already tucked in with us asleep. They usually chase her off the bed. grizzly4 - 2009-12-14 08:11:00 |
| J my 14 year old grand daughter is over for a few days and M is following her around everywhere. It is quite funny really. J tries to escape and you can hear this little voice yelling''J COME HERE!!!!Nana is getting the opportunity to get more done. Yay. Jed keeps changing his sleeping spots lately grizzly. He is acting differently too. Seems in good health still munching down his food and drinking. Still racing about after the poor birds. I have to leave their food out when he is having a nap. Ha ha. Funny weather here today but attemping the washing. makerealbany - 2009-12-14 11:07:00 |
| I must need a holiday, the little things are making me feel really titchy! Tasks that aren't done when people say they would or done wrong after them having done the same thing for years correctly, tomato plants drooping because of all the wind and rain, neighbours cutting down their beautiful trees, tree fellers blocking my driveway when I need to go to work.....SEE WHAT I MEAN??? grizzly4 - 2009-12-15 08:54:00 |
| I agree with you grizzly about Susan Boyles. Little things do not include tree fellers blocking your driveway when you have to go to work. That is a biggie and downright frustrating too. Yep all the tasks my charity paid staff was supposed to do are not completed and I do not care. I have had enough of spending hours sorting things out so they can just ignore them. To hell with them and I can feel retirement from that thankless activity approaching rapidly. Ha ha. Just returned from the christmas function for little M at Chipmunks. She had a ball and is in dreamworld now. Lol. It was great having my teenage grand daughter to run around with her. I had a most relaxing time although I had organized things it went well. So all my obligations for this year are over. Yah!!!! I no longer organize Christmas dinners, brunchs or anything else now. With my 5 children they have it covered. My years of spending the day cooking are over. I just said one year" I am over this and it is your turn". Strangely enough they did not mind a bit. makerealbany - 2009-12-15 14:18:00 |
| You are so wise, makerealbany, I have so much to learn from you.! grizzly4 - 2009-12-16 07:05:00 |
| Well that is an interesting question. The kids here are off with the In Laws on Boxing day so far. They have booked a week at the beach. My other daughter in Orewa is staying at home as they have just purchased a house. Son in Welli is off to the beach after Christmas too so cat duty is coming up. Ha ha. I am away at this stage on the 8th to Gisborne. Son in Greenhithe is on duty so they will be at home. Strange for his family as they are real jetsetters and very well traveled. It will be good for them. Ha ha. My other son and I have a few day trips planned so all in all should be very relaxed. makerealbany - 2009-12-16 13:38:00 |
| A prisoner has escaped from the Paremoremo Prison according to the Police who searched my daughter,s car just after she left home today. I just locked the gate and let the dogs out. I hope they catch him soon as M is asleep and the ruddy helicopters keep flying over the area. Generally when the Airforce are doing exercises they fly wide areas but these guys are focusing on a small area. No where to go really unless they have a boat and even then they will be seen. makerealbany - 2009-12-16 13:51:00 |
| Scary though! I was watching the news and thinking of you. Having dogs is great and family around as well. Just wrapped the box for my parents with everybody's packages in it. Large and heavy, that will teach me for offering to cover postage. Clean up day at work tomorrow. Finished off the admin that needed to be done before I finish, the rest can wait. Friday senior staff go to lunch and do a service evaluation of the year. Then it's TaTa for a month. Yippee! grizzly4 - 2009-12-16 19:49:00 |
| Bet you will enjoy your holidays grizzly. Iam finished with the babysitting for a month after today. Yipee as well!!!!! I still have a few things to finish up for Xmas so I need the time plus I have to visit the Docs, get my eyebrows and lashes done next week and I will be set. Had to take Patch to the vet again today. $80 for antibiotics. That dog costs more than I do. Lol A bit nippy today here. makerealbany - 2009-12-18 10:53:00 |
| Had a lovely staff lunch yesterday at a cafe out at Amberley, which is quite a way out of Christmas. We swapped pressies and they loved what I gave them which was really important to me as I usually place hand-made chocolates on their desks. This time however I found books to replace some that had not been returned (not by me) for one friend, I knitted a red beret for one, and gave hand-made xmas decrations from the Purple Patch to the other. Well worth the effort. grizzly4 - 2009-12-19 09:48:00 |
| Boy, we worked yesterday! Washed drapes, Froze a heap of rhubarb and cooked up some for pies, made 2 batches of mushroom soup for freezer and cleaned out the pantry. Then went looking at a couple of houses hubby has for rent. It's too early yet as we are stuck here till end of April but it was good to see what he had anyway. Working in the shop this morning, then a doctor's appointment re The Cough, then I have to pick up a remote control helicopter I am putting under the Christmas tree for hubby. grizzly4 - 2009-12-21 08:15:00 |
| I have just got back from the Doc's and my blood pressure is up. Surprize, surprize. Ha ha. I told her I was going to rest and relax. She looked at me as if to say I have heard that before. I am tired though. Could have something to do with the big cleanup I have been doing as well grizzly. I sorted out my wool stash and boy was it in a mess. I did this less than a year ago. I have bought a hell of a lot more than I thought I had. Wool is off the buying list. New years Resolution. I will be pushing it to knit what I have. Ha ha. I am going to finish 6 ufos I found. Already did one las night. Oh I feel quite smug. lOL. makerealbany - 2009-12-21 15:38:00 |
| I am using computer in the house because my wireless aerial is beggared. My sons will put a new one in on Friday. Nothing like keeping the boys busy on christmas day. Less time to drink and tell each other fairytales. Ha ha. Seriously though I am annoyed about it. My range is okay but the aerial needs to be stronger. My girls are off shopping again. makerealbany - 2009-12-21 15:43:00 |
| If you check your resolutions last year, makerealbany, I think you'll find you said the same thing about buying more wool!!Haha. My supplies are just about empty. I've got a new whippy-do inhaler! Thank goodness I don't have to pay for it, just about fell off my chair when the doctor told me. Fingers crossed it does some good, eh? grizzly4 - 2009-12-22 09:10:00 |
| Yeah but I really mean it this time grizzly. I have one whole wall of shelves in the large walk in warddrobe stacked to the ceiling and 4 large containers in the other room. I have to knit it all now that I have it. I took 2 bags into my local Op shop yesterday plus heaps of other stuff. I have 2 boxes of craft stuff for the grandchildren and I can not remember buying half of it. The littilies just love ferreting around in their boxes for treasures. Finished another blanket for coming great grandchild last night so ufos going down. Lol. M is looking out the window waiting for her 6 year old cousin to come and has just discovered her mothers stash for the holidays. She is now asking her Mum for morning tea. Ha ha. I am off this arvo to say hurrah to my ratbag grandson and help him pack. At 20 he is pretty hopeless still unlike his cousins. makerealbany - 2009-12-23 10:56:00 |
| If I do not supervise he will leave something important behind. My Invalid son will miss him but is happy to be able to get his place in order again. Good score for the whippy do inhaler grizzly. Hope it helps girl. makerealbany - 2009-12-23 10:59:00 |
| Hey smartgirl. how are you and the family? Miss your posts girl. makerealbany - 2009-12-23 11:00:00 |
| Sorry girls, I have been very busy with the g/kids etc and when I have had spare time Mr L has been on the computer or I have had a nap. I have an ulcerated mouth and it is driving me mad. I have been putting bonjela on it but may have to get something better if it does not go away. Grizzly I cant believe you still have your cough. Lets how this new inhaler does the trick. I have had the last day of childminding this year till about the 3rd week ofJan. Its funny, you are happy to see them go but wake up the next morning and miss them. smartgirl - 2009-12-23 23:23:00 |
| Hi smartgirl. Had to laugh at your last day of childminding until, etc. That is what I said last Friday and today I had M and J who is 6 for awhile. In fact I still have J rucked up in my Queen sized bed. He always wants to spend a night in Nana's cottage when he comes up. Does not want to sleep in the lounge on the divan bed either. I light my Pyramid candle for him and he lays there watching the lights on the ceiling before he drops off. One night will not kill mebut he is a kicker when he sleeps. Funny all of my grandchildren love this cottage. He looked at my tree and said"Is that a real still living tree Nan? I told him yes and he said good with an approving grin on his face. A 6 year old conservationalist. makerealbany - 2009-12-24 00:51:00 |
| Ulcers are horrid but in the mouth is restrictive to say the lest smartgirl. I use Bonjela too. I also rinse with peroxide and then salt water which is not so nice but it works for me. Are you having Christmas at home smartgirl or at the kids. I even decorated this year in my cottage. Looks and smells great. makerealbany - 2009-12-24 00:55:00 |
| I am imagining your cottage. Sounds lovely. Oh to call a place of my own. Probably won't happen in this lifetime, (sigh). I have 11 for dinner tonight and then 9 for brunch tomorrow then the hard work part of Christmas is over for me. Had 2 yr old L for a couple of hours last night so took our tea to the beach. Good fun. grizzly4 - 2009-12-24 08:34:00 |
