| Does out of the packet class as baking? alebix - 2008-02-26 21:22:00 |
| Yes alebix I'd class it as baking 'cause you did add ingredients together and bake in oven! whiskey13 - 2008-02-27 12:55:00 |
| Let me testify Packet mixes is how I got started, alebix. But like any drug, I needed more to get a fix, & then moved on to the harder stuff. I started adding extras like raisins to the packet, then started icing packet mix with homemade frosting, and then got given a book on bread by my pusher, who I later married... You know how it is. *sigh* And now I have internet recipes bookmarked, lots of different sizes of tins, and yes, I am known to chop up chocolate by hand instead of using chips. (*sob*) You could end up like me, alebix. lennyb1 - 2008-02-27 13:34:00 |

| I think it's much better for the kids, I bake heaps even when I worked full time I did, I like knowing what my kids are eating, I don't understand half of the ing that are in brought stuff it can't be good for you!! I'd rather put natural butter & sugar into my kids bellies than all that other crap, their lunches quite often get stolen to! Lol perhaps my baking comes out all right huh :) Thanks for the recipies I'm gonna try some this week :) jimi9 - 2008-03-02 22:46:00 |
| PAGHAN You posted a yummy recipie for cheese muffins, but do they not have any eggs or oil in them at all?? Thanks :0) What a neat thread I've been sooo bored now I have heaps of recipies I want to try! Thanks everybody! jimi9 - 2008-03-03 03:06:00 |

| jimi9 There's something wrong with that recipe. There is no liquid at all. The thread is nearly three or four years old though so I imagine you might need to get a savoury recipe from somewhere and add the flavourings to taste. I don't have a recipe on hand but good luck. carterne - 2008-03-03 06:48:00 |
| CARTERNE Yes I thought it wasn't right, I might just try adding 2 eggs, I think they'll come out all right surely?? How bad could it be?? Lol I'll let you know :) jimi9 - 2008-03-03 11:54:00 |

| Is this one already posted? Peta Matthias' soda bread - I make this one often. 2c plain flour, 2c wholemeal, 1t salt, 2t baking soda. 2c buttermilk. MIx together dry ingredients, add buttermilk to make soft dough, knead on floured surface for a minute or so. Pat into round, cut a 5cm-deep X on top, bake at 200C for 30 minutes. lennyb1 - 2008-03-17 13:00:00 |

| poor mother I remember my poor mum baking coconut rough for us and it went in five seconds once out of the tray! She never knew we used to sneak the vanilla biscuit dough when she turned her back. She always used to complain that the recipe used to make 2 dozen, and now only makes a dozen. My friends mum had better Marshmallow slice. There's the mums with big marshmallow slice height, and mums with flat marshmallow height. Life was so damn simple back then. fhpottery - 2008-04-01 22:02:00 |
